- Queen Elizabeth II died at 96 after a 70-year-reign. A statement from the Royal family said, “The Queen died peacefully at Balmoral Castle.” Her eldest son, Charles, is now king.

When Philip died and I saw the Queen sitting alone at Windsor, I thought to myself that she would not live long without him. She fell in love with him when she was 13 and he was in her heart for 82 years. Now, hopefully, they are reunited. Rest in peace, Your Majesty.

I am a Brit in the UK. I didn't really have much interest in the Royal Family, but I almost gave way to tears and got goosebumps when I heard this and the PM's speech. The most famous lady on Earth has just passed. It was a day we knew was going to happen, but wierdly also thought would never really happen. RIP to her

In my country, we had a beautiful belief that if you were given an honor to die a peaceful death, it means you're incredibly kind and had brought nothing but goodness in this world. Same thing with my grandma and grandpa. Both died on their sleep. Not once did we brought or had they suffered in the hospital. Simple, kind-hearted old folks who went to church everyday and help their fellow humans despite their social status.
When prince Philip passed away, we know its only a matter of time. For such an extremely long marriage and partnership, the other half will definitely miss and would want to be with that other half of her. You're ready to let go of this life to be with your soulmate, the other half of you.

Bless her heart, she was an exemplary figure, nobody worked as hard as her to fulfill her role. I think the loss of Prince Philip really had such an impact on her, she definitely went downhill after his death but still trucked on as she was so strong. Now, she is in peace, no more pain.

She was ready to go. You could tell she was tired but making the effort to carry on her duties. She had been well programmed to lead her subjects as they genuinely mourn her passing, today. Another era has gone. let's see how far Charles can carry it out Times are changing and wonders of the past have become the reality of our present. I am not a Brit, and I would not mourn a person I do not personally know. She had a long run and that is all I can say.
You're right! She was and I'm sure that she knew but carried on anyhow. But, I disagree with you on her being a well- programmed kind of person. It takes tremendous strength and courage to lead an entire country let alone a family and the rest of the commonwealth. As far as an Era, yes, but another Era is soon to begin. However, we are not no one's judges. What we say can be demeaning and degrading as our tongue can be the vilest thing. Regardless, if you are going to say something about someone then, say it kindly.
I think after Philip died, she decided she had enough and it showed slowly but surely.
As for the now King Charles III, he can probably do 25 years on the throne even in his 70s. 25-30 year reigns are the average. Queens Victoria and the late Queen Elizabeth II were the exceptions rather than the rule.

She was a great lady always dignified, and an inspiration to anyone dedicated to their country, being there for others or doing their job.
I find it kind of fascinating that her last official duty was meeting with the new Prime Minister Liz Truss, which she clearly must have insisted on doing despite doctor's orders. I remember her always wearing gloves, but on that occasion she wasn't, and you could clearly see her hands were bruised badly and looked awful. I wonder why she decided to do that, show her hands.
As a Senior Citizen who uses a walking stick full-time , I would assume she did not wear gloves so she could quickly right herself should she begin struggling to hold her balance. Wearing no gloves would have offered her more gripping power than to wear slippery gloves. Just my thinking about that.
I think she was literally showing her hand. It's a shame she used some of her last strength meeting someone as vile as Truss.. The people won't forget she mourned her husband alone during lockdown whilst Conservatives broke the rules and partied
