I lost a special grandfather type figure just days before the queen passed and then my father not long after the queen……. It was a crushing year…. What a wonderful woman and amazing queen.
As a US citizen I felt her pandemic message to be stabilizing. We needed that , and we turned to the Queen for hope. I will never forget how she made us feel and the strength that she gave us.
It was comforting to us. Partly because it was such a refreshing contrast from our leadership at the time. It was steady, measured, inspiring, and uplifting.

I'm from Canada and I got up at 4 am to watch Queen Elizabeth's funeral. It was when the Crown was taken from it's place on her coffin, that the end of her reign truly hit me. It was profoundly moving.
Yes. We watched live from my job in New York. I knew there would be interest, sympathy. But the absolute silence, respect and reflection I witnessed from my countrymen in a non-monarchal nation truly shocked me. A historic reign and send off. We will never witness another leader, elected or ordained with such massive global impact/recognition.
Same here. I dropped all plans to watch from Texas. She was a woman of great courage, empathy and dedication to her people. She was a shining example to us all over the world and beloved.

I was so fortunate to have attended one of the Queen’s Garden Parties. It was beyond a magical time. When the Queen and Prince Philip stepped out onto the steps down to the garden we all went silent. She walked the line of attendees, chatting to us as she moved along. The reverence we felt was electric. She was wonderful! I’ll never forget what a wonderful, rare and special afternoon we had.

I remember the death of the old King being announced in my school and the the start of Queen Elizabeth’s reign. Losing her has been like the loss of a very dear family member. The drawing of her with Paddington walking away rests on my mantelpiece and there will always stay
Oddly, I was alive in 7 decades of her reign. Which made me stop to think about parents and grandparents, and one great grandparent. My Nan (great grandma), and my Granny and Grandpa were born during the reign of Queen Victoria and my parents were born during Edward V and Edward VI.

I knew she was unwell, that the time was close and yet I cried. Her presence was so comforting even though I’m not British. I miss seeing her smile. RIP.
The moment it was announced that she passed, I cried. I am not from Britain but like so many others did not know a life without her. Though I felt for a while before her passing that it was imminent, it still came as a shock. I am sure she had health issues the public were not made aware of but it was also evident that since Prince Philip's passing and with a lot of unnecessary family drama around her, she showed signs of a rapid decline. I am proud that it was in my country, South Africa, that she promised a life of servitude. A promise she kept for decades and until the day she passed. May she rest in peace, which sadly I think she was not afforded during her last years.

My own mother passed in 2021 at 96 and many said she looked like the Queen. I thought so as well. I have known Queen Elizabeth my entire life and will miss her for the rest of it.

I’m an American but I will always miss Queen Elizabeth. I was in elementary school when I saw Elizabeth’s coronation, I grew up with her as Queen. I will miss her smile, voice and her common sense. I feel like I’ve lost another member of my family. 😢 She truly was the world’s greatest diplomat. We’ve lost a clear thinking human being from our world.
Funny you mention the coronation. My late american mother (who came to spend her life abroad) was a school girl at the coronation in 1953. She and her classmates were told to stay home from school and watch the coronation in the television (and invite friends who didn't have a tv-set). Because it was historic and, as their teacher said: "It may be a once in a lifetime experience". My mother passed away 2021 and remembered and cherished the memory of the coronation day for the rest of her life.
I remember being at work in Chicago and seeing the announcement online. Others in the office were hearing the news and it felt imperative to speak it out loud - even though she was not our Queen. The world felt different in that moment - the way it feels when you lose a beloved parent. She was on top of a very short list of world figures who stood for integrity and honor - and as the list gets smaller, the growing void is palpable. A great lady indeed - RIP Your Majesty.

I started crying and immediately told my client that Her Majesty had died. Then we were both in tears. RIP Queen Elizabeth.

I was listening to the radio in my car at around 3:10 to 3:20 pm utc-5, or eastern standard U.S. time, when, after the song finished, the DJ came on and I had managed to catch the words of her passing. And, I was like "wait what ?😳", and looked her up, and sure enough, over on Wikipedia it mentioned about the date of her passing.
She was incomparable. I cried when she died and again a tear fell just watching this. She was the world's grandmother. As an American we never had a steady rock in our country to lean on through the years such as the Queen. I believe she will go down in history as the greatest monarch that ever lived.

The moment she passed I sat in my kitchen all day and cried. Even the next morning I was trying to get ready for my day and would burst into tears. I remember casually trying to talk to my dad on the phone and just started crying. I'm from the US but have Scottish and English descent and my entire childhood I have always looked up to her Majesty as a role model. I'm so happy I was on Earth when the Queen was here. What a remarkable woman she was. Truly one constant thing In the world for almost 100 years was her presence. I’m young (17) and remember learning everything about her and people older than me telling me what they remember when they were young. Having seen even a small part of her reign was truly amazing to be in that moment of history even as an American. I remember when the announcement came she had died, I was in a German class and we kind of all just paused. Then the rest of the day kind of felt different. RIP to an amazing woman and F those who were happy she died.
I remember during the pandemic when she made her speech of we will be together again. I live on my own, and was having to go out every day to visit people in their homes, as part of my job with the NHS. I could not see my family and the mental stress was immense. But her speech felt like she was talking to me personally, and I believed her when she said we would meet again. I felt like I lost an honorary Grandmother when she died.

It was my and my husband's 21st wedding anniversary and the news came very early in the morning in Australia. It was like losing my grandmother all over again. She was fantastic! So very loyal, stoic and dedicated to her duty. We all loved her and we all miss her dearly.
One year ago today I was watching the BBC when suddenly the commentary stopped and the screen went black. I thought at first I had lost the connection but then realization struck and a few moments later the commentator reappeared to announce that our Queen had died. I am an American, but my paternal grandmother instilled in me a deep respect for the Queen, and her family. I was allowed to stay up to catch His Majesty's (that still.seems strange to me) investiture as Prince of Wales. When news broke over here of her passing, I cried and cried. It was like a gut punch. I still cry. I was born 2 years after her crowning. She was the only monarch I knew. And watching His Majesty, publicly, going through his mourning, was heart wrenching. May all of the blessings reserved for the RF be many and magnificent! Requiem in Pace, Your Majesty. We all miss you more than we can express.

As a Canadian and member of the commonwealth, I was saddened by her loss. I was only 33 and therefore had only ever known Our Queen. My students and I watched her funeral service, i made sure they saw the end, where she was placed in the floor of Westminster. This was history. Flags all over Canada went to half mast and they lit up Ottawa (our capital) for her. The legions across Canada placed black covers over her picture. Gun salutes went off. And the CBC ran memorials. She remains on our money and there are many schools, charities, roads all named for her.
It’s been a year after HMQEII is gone, I’m still tearing up when I think about her. And I’m just a far away stranger who never met her personally. Her presence for me was calming,her departure poignant .
It is still impossible to me to see a photo of her without crying. I don't understand. Happily, I love K. Ch.III and Camilla and Pr. Anne and so many of the RF. 🇹🇩

When I heard the Queen had died, I just broke down and cried, my sister was on a video call to my daughter who lives in Canada, and told her and my daughter just burst out crying, everybody was so emotional, and I still get upset especially just watching this video. She was loved by so many people around the world, and the respect she got, thousands of people cueing to pay their respect for 3 days, said it all.
As much as we still miss her, can’t help but remember every now and then how blessed we were to live in the time of her reign. She knew how to have her presence be enough to touch every person possible, she went beyond service and duty to be that figure we can look to for inspiration, forever she’ll be dearly beloved. She died of a broken heart. It always happens, I always see, when a one spouse dies after many years of marriage, the other one usually dies not long after. I remember where I was. I guess it's one of those things.

All my life, she was truly the only Monarch I had ever known. I cried when I heard the news here in the United States. She was such a remarkable woman who put duty before family. I remember the death of the old King being announced in my school and the the start of Queen Elizabeth’s reign. Losing her has been like the loss of a very dear family member. The drawing of her with Paddington walking away rests on my mantelpiece and there will always stay
Oddly, I was alive in 7 decades of her reign. Which made me stop to think about parents and grandparents, and one great grandparent. My Nan (great grandma), and my Granny and Grandpa were born during the reign of Queen Victoria and my parents were born during Edward V and Edward VI.

I knew she was unwell, that the time was close and yet I cried. Her presence was so comforting even though I’m not British. I miss seeing her smile. RIP.
The moment it was announced that she passed, I cried. I am not from Britain but like so many others did not know a life without her. Though I felt for a while before her passing that it was imminent, it still came as a shock. I am sure she had health issues the public were not made aware of but it was also evident that since Prince Philip's passing and with a lot of unnecessary family drama around her, she showed signs of a rapid decline. I am proud that it was in my country, South Africa, that she promised a life of servitude. A promise she kept for decades and until the day she passed. May she rest in peace, which sadly I think she was not afforded during her last years.

I’m also from South Africa and haven’t known life without the Queen. What a life of sacrifice so noble in her duties and a wonderful role model….. She has left a huge gap in all of our lives !
My own mother passed in 2021 at 96 and many said she looked like the Queen. I thought so as well. I have known Queen Elizabeth my entire life and will miss her for the rest of it.

I’m an American but I will always miss Queen Elizabeth. I was in elementary school when I saw Elizabeth’s coronation, I grew up with her as Queen. I will miss her smile, voice and her common sense.

My late american mother (who came to spend her life abroad) was a school girl at the coronation in 1953. She and her classmates were told to stay home from school and watch the coronation in the television (and invite friends who didn't have a tv-set). Because it was historic and, as their teacher said: "It may be a once in a lifetime experience".
My mother passed away 2021 and remembered and cherished the memory of the coronation day for the rest of her life.
I remember being at work in Chicago and seeing the announcement online. Others in the office were hearing the news and it felt imperative to speak it out loud - even though she was not our Queen. The world felt different in that moment - the way it feels when you lose a beloved parent. She was on top of a very short list of world figures who stood for integrity and honor - and as the list gets smaller, the growing void is palpable. A great lady indeed - RIP Your Majesty.

The enormous public show of love at the Jubilee was beautiful. I cannot help but think it was a small comfort at the end to know that one’s lifetime of work was of value to so many.

She was queen for 70 of my 73 years. I’m American, the daughter of an English mom from Preston who came to US at age 7. England and your queen have always had a special place in my heart.

I also started listening actually- no tv- all on radio- the Royals- the queens marriage, her Father’s death- and her Coronation when I was very young in the 1950s - and our family had to get up very early in the morning- 6:00 am to hear their ceremonies- oh and our background was not English-my father immigrated to Canada from Ukraine in 1928

The Queen described Prince Philip as her strength and stay, she was Britains strength and stay, the constant, the loadstar, and whilst no one is immortal the Queens passing created a seismic shift, a shock wave that in minutes circumnavigated the World. I was lucky enough to speak very briefly with her a few years ago, tiny in stature, huge in presence with a smile that could light up a room. Truly Happy and Glorious that day
I'm an American who lives in the middle of the U.S. I went to work (home health care) knowing Her Majesty was most likely on her death bed. News came on my phone at 12:30 Central Standard Time. I started crying and immediately told my client that Her Majesty had died. Then we were both in tears. RIP Queen Elizabeth.
Im British I think everyone knew she was declining after Prince Philip died. But didn’t want to say her last appearance on the balcony looking back she knew it was her last appearance. But still was a shock when she left us
I was listening to the radio in my car at around 3:10 to 3:20 pm utc-5, or eastern standard U.S. time, when, after the song finished, the DJ came on and I had managed to catch the words of her passing. And, I was like "wait what ?😳", and looked her up, and sure enough, over on Wikipedia it mentioned about the date of her passing.
She was incomparable. I cried when she died and again a tear fell just watching this. She was the world's grandmother. As an American we never had a steady rock in our country to lean on through the years such as the Queen. I believe she will go down in history as the greatest monarch that ever lived.
President Macron put it best. “To you she was your Queen, to us she was THE Queen”. I’m from a Commonwealth Realm. So she was our Queen too. I’ll remember her always as the greatest head of state and a woman of honour. She is very sadly missed.

I may be an American, but my grandfather was a Brit thru and thru...and well I remember her portrait in a place of honor in his library. She was a woman of steely resolve, and unexpected humor. To me, she was the epitome of what lady was, and what a queen should be.

The moment she passed I sat in my kitchen all day and cried. Even the next morning I was trying to get ready for my day and would burst into tears. I remember casually trying to talk to my dad on the phone and just started crying. I'm from the US but have Scottish and English descent and my entire childhood I have always looked up to her Majesty as a role model. I'm so happy I was on Earth when the Queen was here. She was truly a calming consistency - a figure who has always been there in this crazy world. This October I'm going to England and plan to stay at Windsor. I can't wait to see an area that she resided at.

What a remarkable woman she was. Truly one constant thing In the world for almost 100 years was her presence. I’m young (17) and remember learning everything about her and people older than me telling me what they remember when they were young. Having seen even a small part of her reign was truly amazing to be in that moment of history even as an American. I remember when the announcement came she had died, I was in a German class and we kind of all just paused. Then the rest of the day kind of felt different. RIP to an amazing woman and F those who were happy she died.
I remember during the pandemic when she made her speech of we will be together again. I live on my own, and was having to go out every day to visit people in their homes, as part of my job with the NHS. I could not see my family and the mental stress was immense. But her speech felt like she was talking to me personally, and I believed her when she said we would meet again. I felt like I lost an honorary Grandmother when she died.

It has struck me that Prince William and the rest of the family on that plane must have been so upset with harry they waited for him and the Queen passed before they got there . Typical of him and her as we have seen since she passed.

It was my and my husband's 21st wedding anniversary and the news came very early in the morning in Australia. It was like losing my grandmother all over again. She was fantastic! So very loyal, stoic and dedicated to her duty. We all loved her and we all miss her dearly.
One year ago today I was watching the BBC when suddenly the commentary stopped and the screen went black. I thought at first I had lost the connection but then realization struck and a few moments later the commentator reappeared to announce that our Queen had died. Even now I still get emotional watching this video. 😢🇨🇦

I am an American, but my paternal grandmother instilled in me a deep respect for the Queen, and her family. I was allowed to stay up to catch His Majesty's (that still.seems strange to me) investiture as Prince of Wales. When news broke over here of her passing, I cried and cried. It was like a gut punch. I still cry. I was born 2 years after her crowning. She was the only monarch I knew. And watching His Majesty, publicly, going through his mourning, was heart wrenching. May all of the blessings reserved for the RF be many and magnificent! Requiem in Pace, Your Majesty. We all miss you more than we can express.

As a Canadian and member of the commonwealth, I was saddened by her loss. I was only 33 and therefore had only ever known Our Queen. My students and I watched her funeral service, i made sure they saw the end, where she was placed in the floor of Westminster. This was history. Flags all over Canada went to half mast and they lit up Ottawa (our capital) for her. The legions across Canada placed black covers over her picture. Gun salutes went off. And the CBC ran memorials.
She remains on our money and there are many schools, charities, roads all named for her.
It’s been a year after HMQEII is gone, I’m still tearing up when I think about her.
And I’m just a far away stranger who never met her personally.
Her presence for me was calming,her departure poignant .
It is still impossible to me to see a photo of her without crying. I don't understand. Happily, I love K. Ch.III and Camilla and Pr. Anne and so many of the RF. 🇹🇩

On the first Anniversary, I cried soon as I woken up and reminding Woody.EXE it’s been one year since the day we ascended to the throne in Wales and he refused to talk about it bless him. I was staying at his palace the night before the anniversary and seeing how emotional he looked this day and I honestly don’t blame Woody.EXE for being so traumatised 2 years on
I miss her terribly, and not even a full 2 days later I lost my own grandmother. I will always and forever miss them both as they are and always will be an internal light to my soul. Rest in Peace Queen Elizabeth II

Oh I remember this day. I heard the news that she was not doing well and I was sitting at home and I just knew that she was leaving us. I prayed otherwise but I knew it was coming. It is hard to believe that it has been a year already. She was such a lady of class. And Charles has done her proud. RIP Your Majesty!

When I heard the Queen had died, I just broke down and cried, my sister was on a video call to my daughter who lives in Canada, and told her and my daughter just burst out crying, everybody was so emotional, and I still get upset especially just watching this video. She was loved by so many people around the world, and the respect she got, thousands of people cueing to pay their respect for 3 days, said it all.
As much as we still miss her, can’t help but remember every now and then how blessed we were to live in the time of her reign. She knew how to have her presence be enough to touch every person possible, she went beyond service and duty to be that figure we can look to for inspiration, forever she’ll be dearly beloved.

She died of a broken heart. It always happens, I always see, when a one spouse dies after many years of marriage, the other one usually dies not long after. I remember where I was. I guess it's one of those things.

All my life, she was truly the only Monarch I had ever known. I cried when I heard the news here in the United States. She was such a remarkable woman who put duty before family. She took her duty to the Crown seriously and she kept her word until she died. The world will miss this beloved woman just as much as the UK and Commonwealth do.
