    The great thing with the reverse camera on the outgoing model was the fact you could buy a camwipe for the rear wiper that cleaned the camera.

      It's really marginal, I can tell you that. The exact differences would be very hard to find since that isn't much of the selling point on the new Niro.

    Had the predecessor HEV for over a year now and it’s the best KIA I have had to date (my 6th) will hang on to it for another couple of years as I like it so much but will not hesitate having the new version when the time comes. I am led to believe that the 2023 version has an electric boot, which in my opinion is the only thing the 2021 version lacks. Great car, very comfortable in top spec, good economy (50mpg + in most driving conditions) and great value for money overall here in the UK 👍

    Nice and useful presentation between new and old Niro versions. Even I own a 2018 Kia Sportage, I'm really interested to change it with the newest Niro. One question for you, guys: is there any differences between Kia and Hyundai cars in terms of quality of manufacturing? How the Kia models are seen in S. Korea comparing to Toyota models?

    • @CarSceneKorea
      @CarSceneKorea  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The answer to this would vary to a person to another. Toyota is considered and literally an import car brand, where Hyundai and Kia are domestic. Toyota doesn't seem to be considered more luxurious over two brands, but more like a personal taste.

    I found this video very informative. Just wondering about the fuel efficiency given that fact that you have 18 inch rims on both models. Kia’s brochure indicated 18.8 km/l, however your video segment showed 21.2.
    Can you confirm this for me please?

    • @CarSceneKorea

      Getting over 20km/L is not all that difficult with Niro. Not sure about the official # there, but 18.8 is really easy to get and I think I'd get right under 30km mark if I really try. Niro is a beast when it comes to mpg.

    I have the older PHEV Niro, I like the dash layout better. Real buttons, don't have to switch from radio to heat controls, the older steering wheel looks much nicer and sportier also. The new niro steering wheel looks like cheap hard plastic. I also like the traditional floor shifter instead of a shifter button or dial.

    • @CarSceneKorea
      @CarSceneKorea  ปีที่แล้ว

      I do favor physical buttons too, easier to use. But the new layout definitely provides more design that wasn't possible on traditional interior 🤔

    • @domm4633

      The US version of the new Niro has a traditional shifter. Only the PHEV and EV will get the dial shifter. I do agree with you about the buttons and the steering wheel though. I'm sure I'd get used to it but they're not great.

    • @graantmnz
      @graantmnz ปีที่แล้ว

      the dial shifter is only on the top spec k4 model - the lesser models have a lever / handle - its kind of annoying that the tester's only ever seem to be given the top spec models to review when in fact there are 4 x new models in the Niro range

It's very controversial, and also functional, (probably a aero / mileage benefit. I'm assuming they both have the dual clutch transmission? HEV (non-plug hybrid) only makes sense if you drive a lot in the city - many city miles and 70/30 ratio city/highway. This car probably will be 5,5 city and 6.2 highway (maybe even more if you go fast) so if you do the oposit 70 highway and 30 city this HEV does not make sense. If you do a lot of highway miles then diesel is still by far the best economy car price + diesel price, even petrol is still better overall economy over 200k km car price + petrol price. I am buing a new car now and did a very detailed excel sheet for estimating petrol,diesel,mhev,hev,phev and electric.

    Got excited thought it was the Niro EV then realised it was the Hybrid. But didn't know was double glazed glass on the new 2023 model assume it's across all of them HEV, PHEV, & EV. Interesting Norway has already had a press drive event for the new Niro EV before Korea the home country of Kia. I prefer the new Niro EV interior over the old one as it's a lighter cleaner and simpler design more modern I would say to be honest. Looking forward to it launching in Australia later this year. Biggest worry I have is supply chain, hope they have better supply chain for the Niro than the EV6 as AU only got a few hundred units of the EV6 with no more until 2025.

    • @CarSceneKorea
      @CarSceneKorea  ปีที่แล้ว

      Shortage is everywhere, but those numbers seem brutal for AU! I'm looking forward to Niro EV as well, but HEV has always been more than satisfactory, so the room for EV seems very tight especially with those E-GMP EVs from Kia alone, EV6 and others to come.
