    Awesome DK, so looking forward to your review of this. Hope you come along to FCL Australia mentioned it to Dan to get you and Eliot along being the local team to the Asia Pacific region for FC. I wish Kia Australia had offered a light colour interior but no they went with Charcoal in a country that gets to 40c or more welcome to a Hot Box, totally idiotic IMO. What was your efficiency numbers on your test drive at Wh/km if you happened to check it? Still love the new Niro EV just wish it was lower price here and they offered light colour interior and heatpump even as options.

    • @CarSceneKorea
      @CarSceneKorea  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks, I'd love to do anything with FC :) As for the heatpump, this Niro EV comes standard at least here in Korea. As for the driving range, it's a test driver + I had very short drive with few flooring, so didn't even bother checking. 5.3km/kWh is the official number, but I read from articles that a reporter marked 7.3km/kWh.

    So . My question here is . Which is better to buy (because we are in the market to buy one of these 2) the Hyundia kona EV 2023 or kia niro EV 2023 . They are both the same skateboard but in 2022 the kona get 415 km and the niro get 385km here in Canada 🇨🇦 .

    • @CarSceneKorea
      @CarSceneKorea  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Kona has more of the traditional SUV look, whereas Niro is well, Niro. If the design isn't much of a dealbreaker for you, Niro being the latest EV, I'd go with Niro at this point. All depends on what next all new Kona EV would be like though.

  • @mondotv4216

    I agree it’s a great car but I’m wondering why the NiroEV is so expensive in Australia? Basically the same price as a Model 3 RWD ($400 less). $AU6000 more for the GT line. Say what you like but that does not reflect the price in other markets? As you channel seems to be a media arm for Kia/Hyundai perhaps you have an answer?

    • @CarSceneKorea
      @CarSceneKorea  ปีที่แล้ว

      I focus on those brands because physically being in Korea allows me to have the upperhand over other TH-camrs, simply that. So getting to your question, I have no idea about Kia Australia of their pricing strategy. It's quite the similar case here in Korea as well, but EV6 is nearly impossible to get at this point, whereas Niro EV, well, you have a better shot 😉

    • @mondotv4216
      @mondotv4216 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@CarSceneKorea Right - but I never hear a negative comment about these brands? Maybe I just don't watch enough of your channel. It's all good - I didn't mean to offend. I'm just genuinely confused about the pricing strategy. We're closer to Korea than the UK so I doubt it can be shipping costs - in the UK the Niro EV starts at £31,913 - which is $AU 54,445. But the UK has 20% VAT and Australia only has 10% GST. So the starting price should be around $AU50,000 plus on roads. Instead it's $AU70,000 plus on roads. The price in South Korea is the equivalent of $AU57,939 and that includes a 10% consumption tax I assume - but that's still a lot less than $AU70K. There's no import duty (which has been waived on EV's in Australia anyway) with KAFTA.

    • @CarSceneKorea
      @CarSceneKorea  ปีที่แล้ว

      Not offended at all, no worries! Just wanted to explain a bit about myself - and as for the negative things - I try focusing on introducing the car as is, I have far more good things to say about these latest cars over "bad" and I really have to try hard to find the bad things out, too. I rarely do comment on a room for improvement though. The pricing, you definitely are far more knowledgeable than I am, the last thing I can think of could be the international relationship factors, perhaps. As we all know, there are so many bureaucracies and things tied with these EVs and automotive markets. All in all, I hope the pricing would be eased so that the globe has more better choices on EVs! Really appreciate your comment, thanks!

    Niro is *NOT* the same as EV6!!! BIGGEST difference between them two is Niro EV charges at 77 kW max while EV6 can do 200+ kW, and that may be important if road trip with EV is a requirement.

    I ordered a Niro EV in the Netherlands. Yesterday I found out that when using a trailer or bicycle carrier, the adaptive cruise control and many other safety systems do not work. I am very disappointed and it was not communicated to me at the time of sale. In fact, the seller didn't even know. If I had known this, I might not have bought it. Is this also the case with other EVs?

    • @CarSceneKorea
      @CarSceneKorea  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Couldn't find such issue on EVs, where did you get this piece of information? I'm personally curois too. I looked up, Palisade has no problem with full HDA ability with a trailer attached. I doubt it'd be the case for Niro EV just bc it is an EV. This would be a very valuable information for my future review as well if discovered to be a reality.

      I have the information from the dealer. The seller himself was surprised by the first customer who returned with a bicycle carrier on the car and a non-working ACC. Finally, they found the information in the booklet. Could it be related to the country the car was delivered in? I find it very important to be able to use ACC and other safety systems for which I pay a lot of money. Greetings Jack

      @@jackvandergoot As you pointed out, manufacturers do change things to meet the regulation/law of specific region/countries. I will try my best finding that piece of info on Korean owner's manual and see if there's anything stated there. As I've found, since it works just fine with Palisade, there is no reason whatsoever for Hyundai Motor Group to disable such feature on a specific model. Hopefully I can come back to this and give you a reply. Lastly, I'm concerned if there hadn't been any human error operating the tech while installing that carrier. For matters like this, I try my best to remain neutral and well, I haven't seen any solid evidence except the the dealer has said, so hope it really isn't the case!

    • @CarSceneKorea
      @CarSceneKorea  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I've gone through Korean owner's manual and no where does it state that HDA will be disabled when a trailer is attached. However, it does encourage not to use the feature as it may be less reliable due to the nature being. Some obvious features such as BCA(Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist) does get disabled though. I did however find that I-PEDAL(allows you do drive just with an accelerator, aka one-foot driving) does disable HDA. This is the best answer I can come up with.

      I got a photo from the dealer that I wanted to send you but I can't paste a photo in this text. It will therefore differ per country, but I find it very annoying that I will soon be unable to use these systems for which I pay a lot of money with a bicycle carrier with two bicycles on it. Thank you for thinking along. Good videos by the way, I enjoy watching them.

    This Kia Niro EV will be more popular going forward here in the United States since the new US law no longer gives tax credits to EV buyers if the EVs are made outside of the US. Without the credits I will look for lower priced EVs such as this Kia Niro instead of the more pricey options such as Kia EV6/Hyundai Ionic 5 etc.

    I, too, prefer taller sidewall tires, and I wonder if manufacturers like Tesla offer ridiculously oversized wheels because they look "better" or because the weight of electric cars is too much for taller sidewalls.
