Very much like the helium escape valve on the Omega Seamaster. Either it adds to the character or you hate it lol. Doesn’t seem like there’s a lot of in between.
When you know why they are snowflake hands (by the request of the French Navy, so they can be better seen deep under water by marine welders), you get it. It’s form following function. It’s beyond opinion on aesthetics. A tool, not a design.
Exactly the same. Used to hate it and it just grew on me. Now I love it... There's not a lot of design these days that isn't borrowed and used by other watches but those hands are decidedly Tudor.
For me, the hour hand and thickness of turods is the reason why I don't have it yet. I'm not say that I hate the "snow flake" bot it's always looks for me as a hammer not snow flake.
I actually love the shield. As a story, it is the shield that protects the Crown (Rolex), and I quite like that. The Rose is definitely cool too. Next watch to dissect would be an Omega Seamaster Professional.
The coin edge is what I like better about the Tudor vs the Rolex subs. Diver homages also use the harsher scalloped bezel edge which over time to me has diluted the sub mariner look for me. The Tudor doesn’t look cheap to me but actually more sophisticated.
On the snowflake, it's fine on the 58. It's on the chrono that I don't like it. It's a major flaw that it obscures the subdials depending on the time. Paying that for a chrono and not having the ability to use it I struggle with as I love the chrono.
But the original Tudor watches had snowflake hands with the the square hour markers like how the pelagos dial is, they were never used with the round hour markers, the black bay is like a mish mash of there watches throughout the years.
@@psmith2632 agree the originals had the snowflake and I get your point on the Pelegos. What I was trying to say is that the snowflake hand does not work on the chrono layout wise. Agreed, but I would’ve solved the problem by skeletonising the snowflake hand. A simple and effective solution that would look good, as per the Seamaster.

I could afford one of these two, but haven’t reached the point where I can justify the purchase to myself. Thankfully Tudor spared me further confusion/desire by only releasing the 925 Silver version on a strap rather than a bracelet. BTW, I agree on the dial text. Drop “Officially” and just have “Chronometer Certified.”
Picked mine up yesterday and love it! I will list my pet peeves without watching this video. 1. Micro-adjustment clasp requires a tool. 2. Fake rivets on the sides of the bracelet 3. The snowflake on the hour hand could be smaller 4. No engraving at all on the back or the clasp :( Wasted canvas 5. I realize Rolex wants to differentiate Black Bay from Submariner, but I really think the bezel could use more pronounced teeth

The snowflake hand is one of my favourite things on my Black Bay. I have a 79230n on black leather and khaki NATO. I absolutely love it, the geometrical shapes are very satisfying
I have a huge problem with Tudor…. The problem is, I have two of them and I want 4 more from the current catalogue. I have 1 Rolex and now realise that I’m “fortunate” to have been “allowed” to buy it. The chances of me getting another Rolex from an AD are slim to none. Apart from the new Zenith Sport Chronograph (which is over £8000!!) I haven’t seen anything from any other company (other than Tudor) that I’d like. I think it’s time the other guys upped their game!!
Yea Rolex has taken the artificial scarcity game too far IMHO. The SD4000 is probably still my favorite watch though. But wow that Zenith Sport Chronomaster is damn near perfect isnt it?!
Try 40 mm IWC Petit Prince in blue, on bracelet. I own several Tudors, which are fabulous.....but the 40mm Pilot from IWC is turning my watch crank big time, excuse the pun.
The only thing I wish this watch had was a ceramic bezel and a version in black (without the gold tint). I would be ecstatic if Tudor released a 58 like that. I think that might be releasing one in the near future since they released a fully blacked out ceramic black bay, so maybe I should hold out for a bit longer. Was just looking to bite the bullet on the black one this month and I was hoping this video would make me think twice about it... but you just pushed me more into wanting it!
I'm not a watch expert but I own this exact watch as well as 2 subs and a Longines and I can tell you wearing this watch on your wrist you can tell just how good it is more so than both of my subs. This watch was made to be good not say that it is good.
For just a slightly higher price, you can opt for the GMT version which offers both a date function and a true GMT feature. While I absolutely adore the black bay series, having a date complication is something I simply cannot live without.
G-shocks are certainly divisive watches and tend to either be loathed by people or then we collect several dozen of them. I think a Watchfinder take on G-shock would be fun. Can we have a G-shock episode, please? :)
I’ve had my BB58 a year now. Trust me people, the rivets ARE NOT AN ISSUE!!! This watch is a piece of art and something you feel more in love with by the day
Have had one for a couple of months now and agree, it's a piece of art, the only negative for me is that I am constantly staring at it and will have an accident if I'm not careful 😁
An update to an earlier post: . Like-for-like think of the Blue 58 version as a more modern take on its original black and gilt sibling. But after watching some of your helpful videos, plus many others, I succumbed and I have just purchased a new BB 58 Black version in late Dec 21 from my AD at retail - there is no shortage of them in the UK these days. I do, and still love the blue, but I have also grown to adore the warmer, more vintage appeal that the black version exudes, not to mention the slightly darker shade of steel Tudor has cleverly used to add further differentiation. Maybe owning identically-made watches with the exact same specs is crazy, but hey it's Christmas after all !
I wanted one of these until I saw it in person, and then I went from merely wanting it to absolutely needing it in my life. I didn't leave the store without it, and I couldn't be more pleased at my decision. Just buy one already!
In Nov 2021 I bought the Black Bay 58 Navy Blue on the steel bracelet to compliment a range of predominantly black-dialled watches in my collection that include the classic Rolex Submariner Date 16610 that I've cherished for 19 yrs. The Tudor is a super, very well-made luxury timepiece and I appreciate its rather understated blue dial and aluminium bezel compared to the 'bling-blue' ceramic of my Omega Seamaster 300. Like-for-like think of the Blue 58 as a more modern take on its original black and gilt sibling. The blue really pops in daylight or in well-lit rooms and a pleasure to wear on my 7 inch wrist. Although not quite up there with the Rolex in the absolute quality stakes - but why should it when it's barely 40% of a steel Sub's retail price (if you could actually get a Sub that is !)- visit an AD and try one on. An in-house COSC certified movement, 70 hrs power reserve, staggering lume.... you won't be disappointed. Ignore the fuss about the faux rivets - you cannot see them when wearing the watch and they are designed to be a vintage-style idiosyncrasy.
I bought the black / guilt BB58 a while back. Can't fault it, no QC issues fits very well on the wrist, looks stunning, keeps good time and perceptibly quality-wise, certainly looks no worse than my Rolex and way better value. The way the colours sit together, are simply excellent.
The crystal and shield are definitely personal preferences. I kind of like the slim profile of the Sapphire and the 'boring' shield is perfect for me. The rose always was a little frilly for my taste. As for the essay on the dial, I think it balances out the logo pretty nicely but that may just be me. I do love the snowflake as well though.
I agree. There's something to be said for a simple, clean logo design. The shield has never bothered me. And for me, the wording is a plus point. I would rather buy this than the 1926 that just says Rotor Self-Winding, which is dumb.
is it me or is the bb58 getting a lot of hate lately? people thought it was the hottest ticket, but now people are being turned off by it by the "vintage inspiration" and now this!? i love my bb58 still!
I think many are coming to the realization that it’s really a dull watch and if it weren’t for the Rolex association and the group think of every TH-camr raving about it, the watch really falls flat against other watches in similar price range.
The only drawback of this watch is that i think it really belongs on the bracelet. It doesn’t look nearly as good on anything else. Whereas the black version of the bb58 is more versatile imo
If you have a chance to see one in person, do it. I had it in blue with both the bracelet and a blue leather strap as an option. I went with the latter. Not a regret at all. It looks stunning. That’s not why I buy watches, but the blue 58 with blue leather strap is a head turner. It only means how beautiful it is. I get asked about it from people that don’t even know watches. Take a look. It’s great.
I really hope that review the H.Moser swiss Alps rinal upgrade watch. The watch itself is really really strange and a think could be very controversial. Nothing other than a research from watch finder would be able to explain the intention and reality of that watch.
My annoyance is I’ve had to have my GMT back for service twice in the 2 years I’ve owned it, and the second time Rolex sent it back broken. They finally got it fixed and still love the watch.
I have a Sinn 104 St SA ABE limited edition blue dial blue bezel and I have been kicking around selling it to buy this watch, I think your video sold me. I have Tudor BB GMT and love it, can't see why I wouldn't love this one too. Thanks for the video. Sorry I am one of the 60% lolololol and I watch your videos all the time.
At 6:55 in the video the lume shot shows blue lume. I own this watch and the lume is definitely green. Did Tudor change lume? I know mine isn’t a fake…
Why does the bb58 look so much better under macro than any Rolex? My 2 issues are the hour hand proportion and the lack of crown protector (for a tool watch).
The hour hand is not as present in real life, as everything on the watch is delicately taken back. Magnified everything comes to a presence, which is not really there wearing the watch.
I was in doubt of which one to choose, the bb58 925 or the seamaster 300.... At the end, I opted for the bb58, but.... The omega will be one of the next
@@sandrinoes either way that is a very fine choice. That silver part really does it. Actually I am looking at the gmt, something omega only offers with the 'somehow' to big' planet ocean. Didn't make up my mind yet. Enjoy yours. Amazing watch!
The 'If it wasn't for the helium escape valve I'd buy one' crowd can do one and buy a Submariner. Just like the snowflake hands make a Black Bay, the HEV makes a Seamaster 300m.
I have a daily tag aquaracer, an omega planet ocean 46mm with rubberish and stainless strap, a tudor bb58 and a tudor royal. The omega by far the most expensivest, by far the best brand…but ive not worn it in at least a year…bb58 and the tag are suprisingly the ones for me at the mo…
I used to prefer this blue iteration of the BB58. But recently I've done a complete 180 degrees turn, and now favour the more warmer-toned black dialled version with the iconic red triangle on the bezel at the 12:00 position. This blue version now seems kind of cold and sterile in comparison
If it weren’t for the big crown association, group think, fair price most would find it an abysmally dull watch. Agree the original bb58 is a far better iteration.
The biggest flaw for me is that the clasp only has three micro adjustments. If Tudor included half links in the bracelet without rivets this watch would be perfect imo. Only having 3 micro adjustments is a shame and the reason for this is because the rivets on the full size link that attaches to the clasp prevents it from fully articulating inside the clasp past three micro adjustments. The oris divers 65 gets around this by including a couple half links without rivets on their bracelet. This allows for 5 micro adjustments on the divers 65.
Great video, as always! It's something magical in what I hear while watching each detail of beautiful timepeace (or a watch). Tones of informations presented so fluidly and acceptable so I always want to get more of it. And I am getting it each time. Not only historical facts, or technical details, there is something addictive in the way those sentences are presented, The Voice!! Beautiful! There is only one thing that I miss. Wouldn't it be great if there was an audio of a presented watch? Hearing it speak for itself.
There's another thing acrylic does better than sapphire: it's infinitely stronger under pressure. If you're 200 feet down, try not to bump your sapphire against a stanchion or something.
At 5:48 we can see a Rolex hallmark: index positioned off. The hands are though far better than in R, even when on other videos we can see that in T BB they can be a bit rough finished for a luxury watch. In R they can be scratched abysmal, + dirt on dial, take a loupe when buying one.
Watches like this have to be perfect in all aspects ,especially to people who have a passion for watches and their movements.”it’s an obsession of holding a great piece of human engineering “
The only “issue” I’m at all concerned with is the bezel knurling, and even them I’m OK with it and just would prefer it be better. Coin-edge is what it is, but something like the Tudor/Rolex Sub edging would be ideal.
I have the original one and love it . It is my everyday watch now . I wear it in toronto . Even On the subway. It's so beautiful but not a snob rolex watch. On the other hand I can still brag about it. Lol. Thank you for your videos. They are so well done .
Let’s go really decisive and review the 2265.80.00 omega seamaster quartz !! Battery haa.. old style clasp haa.. arguably still the best looking SM dial in existence. And yes it’s a keeper 😁👍
I though, oh no when I first saw your vid pop up in my feed. I'm buying the 39 BB blue for my son's 34th birthday present this month. I was considering the 41 at first, but I personally found it to be a bit too much. I'm going to tell him about it before he removes the polyimide, just in case he wants to go scope it out. I think he'll overlook all the "negative aspects" you pointed out about this watch. 😉 I was unaware of the origin of the name, now I know. Great vid, thank you. 👍
Totally agree on the snowflake. It’s modular and at a glance very utilitarian. It’s beauty is it’s simplicity. If you look at the dial and imagine it not being there it looks like it could be an invicta. 😂
I love the snowflake hand because I like angles, and because it looks like a scepter. Which, unless I am gravely mistaken, fits the other Tudor motifs.
As you arleady talked about Navitimer B01 (Maybe another one?) ..for the future video please talk about: Nomos Metro Update 41, Blancpain Fifty Fathoms Bathyscaphe. those three are in my list to get. I want to see some macro shots, thanks !

@@xtomzta You can keep the end links and the clasp and swap the rest out for an oyster bracelet.
Yes, funny how that didn’t come up
Buy the watch and you'll forget about those rivets.
Had it for about a year. I can’t see myself flipping it as I did with many others. Yes it has flaws but … I still love it to death.
Was just looking to bite the bullet on the black one this month and I was hoping this video would make me think twice about it... but you just pushed me more into wanting it!
Just get it Josef you won’t regret it. I too got the black as I feel it is more versatile, a bloody great watch.
@@lawrenceh7182 local AD just got one in stock for me last week. Haven't gone to visit yet but I guess this is it!
@@josefsbeach Josef you need to get yourself down there and try it on dude!
I'm not a watch expert but I own this exact watch as well as 2 subs and a Longines and I can tell you wearing this watch on your wrist you can tell just how good it is more so than both of my subs. This watch was made to be good not say that it is good.
At about 7:45, best comment ever: "Even Tolkien would say that was too dense". Excellent!
His movie/book references and quotes he slips in are amazing. Pretty sure I heard a Mallrats reference in one video.
Your chanel is probably the best watch channel on TH-cam yet.
My favourite watch in my collection! It’s an easy everyday watch to wear, which looks classy with a classic look. 👌
If the whole watch gig doesn't work out for you, believe me, you have a voice for a career nature/animal documentaries.
Please review a GP laureato , or the brand in general. Thanks for the brilliant reviews. James.
He actually has, by comparing it to the VC overseas
The only drawback of this watch is that i think it really belongs on the bracelet. It doesn’t look nearly as good on anything else. Whereas the black version of the bb58 is more versatile imo
If you have a chance to see one in person, do it. I had it in blue with both the bracelet and a blue leather strap as an option. I went with the latter. Not a regret at all. It looks stunning. That’s not why I buy watches, but the blue 58 with blue leather strap is a head turner. It only means how beautiful it is. I get asked about it from people that don’t even know watches. Take a look. It’s great.
I have the original one on the Nato . I love it.
Please review the Longines spirit 40mm, it's a great watch and a bargain, chronometer grade movement and puts more expensive watches to shame.
Love my BB58. Can’t fault it, really.
I bought the BB58 925 as my first luxury watch last week and I’m fully in love
The only thing I think the BB58 must have, is the drilled lugs. This is a must have for a old styled watch. For me it will be perfect !
Breitling Chronomat, I think a good contender for the next clip.
Love your channel, the Dutch are behind you ✌️
I own a Breitling Galactic 41 and so far I have never seen one in the wild 👍🏻
I second that choice.
Man….when you said flashback and used sun tan lotion….truly loved that….that alone was a flashback for me….
I was thinking the exact same thing, mine was an early run from last year, I wonder why this is.
Why does the bb58 look so much better under macro than any Rolex?
My 2 issues are the hour hand proportion and the lack of crown protector (for a tool watch).
It’s their tool watch lite, to be fair. Love the look of open crowns.
I think Tudors just look better than rolexes in general.
it’s more of a “tool watch”
The hour hand is not as present in real life, as everything on the watch is delicately taken back. Magnified everything comes to a presence, which is not really there wearing the watch.
@@guignolification thanks
This is now my favourite Watchfinder video of my favourite watch in my collection. Well Done 👏🏼
"what annoying watch ..." Try that other 'perfect' watch: the Omega Seamaster 300.
Just like the snowflake hands make a Black Bay, the HEV makes a Seamaster 300m.
or the Omega Seamaster 300 Co-Axial 233.30.41.21.01.001, better than the Tudor in every aspect.
This is almost like when they ask you to name a few of your own bad characteristics, which you turn into positives indirectly 😂
Hey this morning i decided to put on my BB 58 after about a week off. Glad i did!
So it was you sitting behind my Evoque at the traffic lights - I wondered what you were mouthing..... :-)
You can get this watch, hardly used second hand for £2500! That’s loads of watch for that money
"more superfluous than Superlative " LMAO
Is the background sound/music choppy? Nevermind....must have been the watch.
I have just received mine,,
I love it❤️
U r very lucky my friend
I find it a small flaw in the BB58 series that only the 925 silver version has a sapphire case back. Do you know why Tudor choose to keep it closed?
I love Tolkien and laughed out loud at the reference!
You should do a five reasons to love the re issue of the 60's classic, rado captin cook, a modern classic (in my opinion)
Talking Hands: Officially certified. Officially annoying.
Me: [Nerd laugh]
Another great video, I love the BB58 it’s perfect in my eyes and most importantly it’s attainable!
Totally agree on the snowflake. It’s modular and at a glance very utilitarian. It’s beauty is it’s simplicity. If you look at the dial and imagine it not being there it looks like it could be an invicta. 😂
I've never owned one or even seen one in reality, but the Rolex Sky Dweller seems a good candidate for annoying.
I like it a lot, just can’t get over the fact that this bezel kinda doesn’t align properly at 12‘o clock...
Fantastic humour and accuracy as per the norm….great fun to watch.
This watch it amazing. The design is beautiful. So much attention to detail. Good investment
