I’ve owned one of these for about a month and love it. I’m really glad this video is here, Oisin. It’s nice to share the appreciation of this lovely piece.
Perfect timing. It's saved me from watching Strictly on BBC1 with the wife. Before even watching I know this will be superb content. Wife actually has a Tudor as a daily beater and loves the brand.
@@markgabrielzamora9044 I think that’s right. There is stuff to enjoy with both brands in the collection. The “cut price Rolex” label for Tudor is a very dated idea.
You are officially my favourite new watch guy on youtube. Your ability to tell a story, and comment on the nuances the other guy miss is engaging. Most other reviewers read from the same template or script, gets old.
Love that story about that guy in the club. I have a friend that is very similar to how you described him, and with unique artsy style tattoos. The BB58 is the only watch he owns. It just works
Great review. I just bought the blue BB58 as my first luxury watch. I was finding it hard to decide between the blue and black, but I find the blue a little more versatile for my style and less showy. Really pleased with the purchase
I do not consider Tudor a second brand after Rolex either. It is just a different watch in a lot of different aspects. I bought a Tudor after I bought a Rolex. Great video!
By far the best review I've seen about BB58 to date. Thoroughly enjoyed watching it. I sold my OG BB58 for all the same reasons you've mentioned. Thank you for a great video.
@@vianouche1 lol re read my comment again, I said nothing about this video making the channel better. But it is my opinion that this channel has just gotten better since I’ve started watching hence “ for almost a year now” lol
To me the fifty eight provides the perfect proportions and weight. Sold my 41mm to get the 39mm. It's definitely a keeper for me. I also agree with your take on it. The Tudor is the jeans and t shirt, no frills watch. No pretense and does the job it's meant to do.
As a watch collector I am drawn to your channel for the pure down to earth reviews. Your dedication to the craft is amazing. Your videos bring a vintage warmth to so many things throughout life. Well done. Keep up the great content.
I have a Rolex and love it. I bought a BB58 last year because I liked how it looked more than what Rolex are currently making - so very pleased to hear you saying (#06:00) "It's not a compromise". Great watch. Your blue one looks great too, but I couldn't justify owning two BB58s! I'd love a blue diver, so it'd have to be that Omega of yours for my lineup. Agree about those awful faux rivets - that's why I bought my black BB58 on the leather strap instead. I like the snowflake hands, but I'd have preferred if Tudor had made the indices square as well, like on the Pelagos.
So, I picked up this watch just about one year ago now. My reason for getting it was more nostalgic… Back in the mid 90s I purchased a brand new Tudor Submariner 40mm for the whopping sum of $940 US. I had it for a couple years then I traded it towards a 1997 two tone bluesy, which I still own to this day. Although I love the Rolex, I always regretted getting rid of that Tudor Sub. So, the BB58 blue comes pretty close to the sub I had all those years ago, and (I don’t know if this is a good or a bad thing!) but I was able to get the new Tudor for half of what the vintage subs like mine are selling for. So far, I am very happy with it!
I don’t know why there are these “camps” for the watch brands...I have 2 subs, a Pelagos, a couple old Tags, a Zenith Defy and a SMP 300. I enjoy them all and they each offer something different. I’d like to add a Lange and a Patek or 2 to complete things for me. I haven’t found an end all, be all watch and I doubt I ever will as long as there are so many cool timepieces out there.
People make out watch owning is some game of thrones type shit where we all have to pick a brand and declare war on all other brands. Very strange. Imagine only wearing Wrangler jeans and writing disparaging comments on videos of anyone who mentions Levi’s 😂 “people only wear Levi’s because they want everyone to see the red tab- Levi’s are for people who care what other people think”
I feel you and I agree. But this is not surprising as much of human nature is tribalism. They feel emotionally connected to what they have and feel the need to prop up its legitimacy. I try to not do that anymore. My fav watch is my Tudor GMT but I’m hoping to add a panerai.
Lol , there are camps for other brands too. Like tag, you just mentioned "..a couple old tags" because you see it as a brand that brings a lot of divisiveness into the community, you didn't want to be seen as one who just bought one recently, but more so hey you've matured and moved on from tag. But hey I got a couple old tags.
I see very big things in your future. You do really high quality productions. I am glad I knew you before you get a big head like other watch channels.

I very much enjoy your channel. (The real one, not the fake copies). Unique idea. Thanks for the kind words.
Really enjoyed this review. Your descriptions and observations are a lot more evocative than many other reviewers - no one else I have watched would use the term ‘Winter colours’ to describe a dial, but your spot on! Plus the observation about the hands catching the light before the dial is also something others would miss, or not think to mention; I just sold a watch for exactly that reason - I would struggle to read the time at a glance in shadow or shade.... You are winning me over more with every video and I wish the channel tons of success. All the best to you✌️
I didn’t love the snowflake hands at first either. But. The snowflake hands aren’t about elegance, they are about legibility - the BB series are tool watches. I have a BB36, and it is the ultimate motorcycling watch - I can tell time at a 90 MPH at a glance, and you don’t want to be fiddling with the angle at that or really at any speed over 50. I just expose my wrist, flick my eyes down, and done. It’s really satisfying. Over time I’ve come to appreciate the snowflake, and the watch overall, and I’m just in love with it. I miss the lack of a date function at times, but the clean dial is totally worth it. The BB58 is next but I can’t decide between blue or black gilt.
Totally agree. I could easily afford a Rolex sub but I prefer the Tudor brand and bought a bb 58. The brand is much braver and creative in my opinion. Very much a test bed for Rolex I think where they are on the safe side.
Props for the honest intro lol. Nice watch. Think people who not really knows watches disregards Tudor, but the ones in the knows the quality and history.
I recently fall in love with my Black Bay Steel when I took bracelet off and wearing that beauty on olive NATO .... tudor did some good job during last few years ... nice blue bay ... I did consider swop until Steel got NATO on ...
Turned 40 a month ago, what better way to celebrate than to buy a Rolex! Nope, none available, mile long waitlist. Long story short, picked up this same watch and love it, now I don’t really care if I get called for a Rolex.
The snowflake is one of the aspects that drew me to Tudor in the first place, I am glad it doesn't have something ubiquitous like a Mercedes. I agree with some other commenters that the indicators would also look better squared, but perhaps that is what the Pelagos is for...
Great review but I find myself watching all your videos because they are more than reviews. Great videography, pictures, perspectives even music choice. Your videos not only interest me but they chill me out! Keep up the great work
Glad you softened your view on BB58. I am a Canadian watch collector and traveler, I love Rolex and Venice !! My local AD carries Rolex and Tudor. Last year he invited me to look at the BB58, like you, I didn't think much of Tudor or the offer until I had it on my wrist - I bought it on the spot. I love my Blue Yacht-Master and Submariner but this is different in an odd way that I cant explain. I truly enjoy your videos, they bring back so many memories in Italy and for that I thank you.
I had the chance (and took it) to pick the Watch up for a steal today. Never really interested me but now I have it …. I do really like and it’s very comfy. And of course as soon as I got one I needed to validate my choice so watched your film on it 🤣
Very true, not all us want a Rolex. I have a black Pelagos 5 liner and I couldn’t be happier. Surf/dive/travel with it, and on a NATO know one knows what it is. Very handy on a bus in a third world country! Tudor now makes a true tool watch for those of us who need one.
Dude, that shot of the Omega where the light reflects off the hands and the dial remained "blacked out", amazing stuff. Thank you, I am now in the market for a vintage, wave dial Omega...like I really needed another reason. Who knows, I may even check out a Black Bay (but I genuinely dislike the faux rivets). Stay well and keep up the great content.
I have lots of blue in my collection already, so I went with the black. Love the guilt. There is just something that is extra special about it. I know a watch is striking all the right boxes when owning it slows down my watch group scrolling and new watch lusting.
I felt the same way, then I bought both! I made the black version my daily wear. My Rolex and Omega(s) have been in my safe since I purchased the BB58. I bought it and wear it because I like it, period end of story-no consolation, just love the weight, size, and appeal of the watch.
Being a fan of Tudor (I love my BB36) as well as a guitar player, I totally get what you mean about the feeling that Tudor is like the equivalent to a Japanese Reissue Fender. I understand this was not a knock. That said, recall that there was a time when the reissue Strats and Teles made in Japan were actually better than/on par the reissues Fender was making in the US. I’d be so bold as to say the same thing is happening with Tudor, re: Rolex. Of course, given the choice, I’d take an American Reissue 57 Strat over a Japanese reissue. But I’d still love playing the Japanese reissue because I know how good it plays. Likewise, I’d take. Rolex GMT over a Tudor...but if I had to have the Tudor, I would still get much enjoyment out of it. Anyhow...big fan of the channel. Keep doing what you do. It is appreciated.
Your review is really spot on. I own a BB58 black which for my 61/4 inch wrist is just perfect, but I agree with you that for larger wrists it might be a little too "under the radar". PS: thanks for showing the beauties of my country in your videos.
Great video, great production, great backgrounds. I like how you showed the watch measurements. This is the first video of yours i have seen. Not sure how I missed it after seeing so many watch channels.
It’s so funny, everyone who actually handles this sucker; loves it. It’s just a gem. Like you I’m a Yeti i’v got an 8 1/4” wrist and its jus a bit small. One of the reasons I love my BB 41. Another great video, thank you
TDY Ranger: *_You're right. I handled it and got aroused enough to start fingering and caressing my wallet BUT I'm a racist. I insist on a black version without gold. Regular matte black, no sunray/sunburst dial._*
Totally agree. I bought a BB Black and a BB GMT and I'm really happy with both watches in every single way. I don't care about the people are talking about.
I think you’ll find your Seadweller and Submariner turn clockwise and anti clockwise to set the time unlike Rolex clockwise as you said. Great video again. Thanks
I like the quirky hour hand and one thing for certain is you'll always know that it's the hour hand despite poor lighting conditions,It's a nice vintage side step from your favourite watch brand.................................
Thank you. I have wanted you to take a look at Tudor. You said that you don't like the snowflake hands, I have the same problem with the hands of the rolex. I just love the angular design of the Tudor hands.
Great video - incredibly beautiful photographic impressions of the wristwatch and the surrounding landscape, never seen before this way - Venice at it's best! This is really art - keep on producing ...
Cracking content. Loved the narrative, humour and thoughts on the Tudor (cherry). Definitely going to have a look at probably the 925 version and see how that fits on my wrist.
Nice work👏 Blue looks great but I would also like to see this in a monochrome version. Just change what’s blue to black, keeping dial and bezel text same as currently on blue and no guilt or red accent as original 58.
I too have a larger wrist, 8" to be exact, and this is the reason I opted for the Black Bay Heritage (with the new movement) Burgandy dial instead. Although, I immediately took if off the bracelet which I found to be heavy and clunky looking with the rivets, and now I wear it on either straps or a Staib mesh bracelet. As far as the snowflake hands, I like them a whole hell of a lot better than the boring looking Mercedes hands on the Rolex or any of the thousands of other ubiquitous look-a-likes.
@@KRBY555 The in-house movement is infinitely superior to the ETA, 70-hour power reserve, superior silicone hairspring making a lot more anti-magnetic. Mines running at +2 seconds a day, and it has the easiest hand-winding and screwing back down function I have ever seen on any automatic. Of course, if you have smaller wrists the new Heritage with the in-house movement may have the case a little high for your tastes, but since I have an 8" wrist it rides just fine.
So pleased with my 58 OG I politely declined the offer last week to buy a YM platinum 40 from my AD.A lovely piece of jewelry but would not have the occasion to wear it.Investing the fund into an antique English pocket watch.
Definitely “simpler” than my black BB 58 which was love at first sight for me. The blue would be a nice to have as well. Tudor is a great brand with some interesting pieces.
This is a nice watch. Was waiting 2 years for the blue to come out but when it did I still prefer the black. I think they should have included the red triangle lume pip to give it some contrast.
Hello. Love your channel. I have the Black Bay Blue from 2014. Thankfully, the bracelet does not have the rivets. I’m nearing my first Rolex and your channel gets me excited for what the buying and wearing experience will be. I am hoping for the yacht master 40. Cheers.
Every time when I listen to the classical music intro it gives me chills , FANTASTIC SIR 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🛩️🛩️ Reminds of AMADEUS MOZART 1984 , timeless movie ♥️
Interesting, I too share most of your opinions on the watch. When it came out and all the hype was going on I stopped by my AD to see what the fuss was about. They had one that was already sold. Because of my relation with them they assured me they could get me one. While I was looking at it I spotted another Blue Tudor in the case, a Pelagous. I tried it on and walked out with it on my wrist. bigger bolder Diver in Titanium just love it.
I own the Tudor heritage chronograph with the ETA movement great watch which I wear everyday scratches in places too ! Not too keen on the black bay range to be honest. I do like the GMT with leather strap that I might purchase in the new year thou. Great vid as always.
The Tudor Black Bay 58 Blue is okay, but I like the Pelagos even more. The Pelagos has a ceramic bezel compared to the aluminum bezel on the Black Bay. Plus I prefer the crown guard of the Pelagos, and the Pelagos is in titanium. But, to each his own.
Great video as usual, I have the original 58 which I love and it fits my small 6.5” wrist perfectly. The only Rolex I can wear is my OP 39 so choice is not always a product of price
Great review and content again! Although I think I disagree on a few things, I find the fineness of the bezel coin edge very easy to grab, and is super smooth to turn. The snowflake hands I think are what adds to the Tudor personality, it's different to everything else, I think they work perfectly. I have the BB, not the 58 .
I’ve got the Tudor GMT and I totally agree on the snowflakes. I think they are gorgeous and on the GMT there’s a nice red one too. It makes it uniquely Tudor. If anything I think it looks better than the Rolex Mercedes hour hand.
I guess beauty is in the eye! Would have bought a omega but hate the sketetol hands so as an every day watch find the bb58 ideal. Still love my sub’s and sea dweller but am to hard on my watches to wear them daily. Love your videos and opinions. Thank you!
Awesome video as usual. Excellent use of matching "Fill" colour on the text boxes, when telling us dimensions. I like the hands on my Tudor Glamour much more. It is an underknown (underappreciated) and awesome watch.
This is the best youtube intro i have ever seen. I came back years later just to see it again.
4 weeks on the wrist and I'm still watching reviews of this watch

The BB58 is awesome. It's basically a vintage Rolex Submariner with new hardware.
TBH Rolex rested on their laurels for decades while Tudor and everyone else eclipsed them.
I like that Tudor flies under the radar, a watch you can wear without worrying about getting mugged for it.
In london you will, oh trust me you'll be held at knife, hammer point before you know it.
The muggers would probably mistake it for a submariner anyway 😂
@JRVCA You will need a lot more than another $3K to get a sub.
A colleague estimated the price of it around 100€🤪
Unless it gets mistaken for a submariner

Strictly isn't the same without Brucey! Haven't watched since he passed - just not fun anymore.
I think this is the point. I CHOOSE Tudor. Not because it’s all I can afford or can get hold of. I CHOOSE it. I like it more irrespective of price.
Yep! But tell that to someone who‘s a „there is only Rolex“ guy....

Another awesome beautiful well executed video!!! You have the best cinematography in TH-cam. TTWC should be nominated for the TH-cam Oscars!!
The Blue Tudor original Sub is Iconic. The modern version is a no brainer.
Just bought mine today. Gets delivered tomorrow. Bought new at list. Cant wait. And personally you can’t go wrong with a good Malbec.
I think you’ll find your Seadweller and Submariner turn clockwise and anti clockwise to set the time unlike Rolex clockwise as you said. Great video again. Thanks
This is the best watch channel out there. Full stop.
I like the quirky hour hand and one thing for certain is you'll always know that it's the hour hand despite poor lighting conditions,It's a nice vintage side step from your favourite watch brand.................................
Spot on review at one of my favorite spots on the globe.
Absolutely love your channel man, one of the best. You have to figure out how to do more of the watches in movies videos. I absolutely love them!!!
Great review and beautiful photography as usual. Love at 2:35 that special play with the dancing light.
15:37 with the blue accents on the boat... well played
Looks smashing. Your photos make it really pop! Dammit, now I want one!
Honest, sincere, favourable, loving and lavishly illustrated review ! Time is always well spent in your company !
The watch is nice, though I don’t like the fake rivets.
Those killed it for me
Love the classic simplicity of this watch. It's on the smaller side for me but wears.so well. Easy everyday wear the you can dress up or down.
Most accurate review I have seen of the black bay
I find the snowflake hands are giving the watch a unique look, feel and more attitude. If you want more conventional hands go for rolex.
Your intros are the best.
I’m with you… I couldn’t stand the hype surrounding the Blue Bay but it looks damn good on your wrist.
Great review as always
Tudor, Yes
Rivets, No
Hands, Yes
Bezel, i doubt most touch it
Would i buy it, no
Cracking content. Loved the narrative, humour and thoughts on the Tudor (cherry). Definitely going to have a look at probably the 925 version and see how that fits on my wrist.
I’m a big fan of your channel Oisín.
Your reviews, insights and wonderful tours are second to none.
Thank you.
I find the Omega PO hands pop and catch light too ...
^ can confirm!
Nice work👏 Blue looks great but I would also like to see this in a monochrome version. Just change what’s blue to black, keeping dial and bezel text same as currently on blue and no guilt or red accent as original 58.
Great video, Ive tried the blue and black last week and I think I’m heading towards the blue. Thanks for helping me make my mind up
I too have a larger wrist, 8" to be exact, and this is the reason I opted for the Black Bay Heritage (with the new movement) Burgandy dial instead.
I admire your intro. Music and photos. Very classy and impressive..
Definitely “simpler” than my black BB 58 which was love at first sight for me. The blue would be a nice to have as well. Tudor is a great brand with some interesting pieces.
I have a new blue one ….interested?
This is a nice watch. Was waiting 2 years for the blue to come out but when it did I still prefer the black. I think they should have included the red triangle lume pip to give it some contrast.
Hello. Love your channel. I have the Black Bay Blue from 2014. Thankfully, the bracelet does not have the rivets. I’m nearing my first Rolex and your channel gets me excited for what the buying and wearing experience will be. I am hoping for the yacht master 40. Cheers.
Love the reviews that are the foundation of this channel for me .. great content as per 👍
Have it in black... but need it in blue also... watch cravings🤪
Thank you ! I love tudor
Sitting watching this in Belfast Oisin and mildly jealous of your surroundings - Another great video 👍
