The Submariner is what got me into watches when younger. Was able to afford the BB58 a few years ago and haven’t wanted a Submariner any longer. Love my BB
Great show WG! To me the Tudor black bay is a 40 year old proud of there history and happy to talk to anyone who brings it up! The Sub!! Well that's someone that's had a past, only wants to look forward and doesn't want to talk about the past!!?? AM I RIGHT??? If the BB had the knurling of the sub on the bezel that would ooooffff I prefer the 60 click on a bb than a 120 sub! Bracelet, the Rolly is unbeatable! Have a lovely Sunday!!!
Great video and quality production. I agree, I love Rolex but the Submariner has never really resonated with me personally However, I’m an outlier I think Tudor BB is now also becoming too over hyped and ubiquitous. Yes it’s great value at the price but there are other interesting choices If you really want a diver with vintage vibe I personally prefer the Longines Heritage Legend Diver (bronze and green) or Breitling Heritage Superocean. Both have more interesting dials and are less obvious choices.
@@robinbanderman4151 thank you. I’m not a complete outlier then! However, I didn’t want my comment above to distract from what is another great expertly produced video comparing two great watches, on this, an excellent channel which I enjoy.
I chose the 58 over modern sub since I liked the size better and preferred an aluminum bezel. Look into a steel reef extension link. Made my 58 so much better. 👌
“Dressed like granola is my favorite food.” Awesome. Love the point that you wear the watch outdoors and active, which is what I believe they were meant for.
@Britt Pearce Absolutely. A watch is to be worn, not kept in a display. Mine have been skydiving and kayaking with orca and camping and polar bear swims......They are built to be worn in the outdoors. Otherwise, all that water resistance is just a bit silly?
Completely agree on all points. For me, the Seamaster 300 60th anniversary from the 2017 Trilogy Collection is absolutely sublime. I've had that one on my mind since its release, but never pulled the trigger
I like the look of the Tudor better than the Rolex. The Submariner case looks very blocky compared to the more refined look of the Black Bay. Have a great camping trip, and a big thanks to WatchFinder for loaning out that beautiful Submariner to Britt for this video. Two of my favorite watch channels coming together to make an awesome video.
I couldn’t agree more woth the sub looking blocky! I think the new 2020 versions kinda got less blocky. But still! A bit chunky. ^_^ As for my channel to be mentioned alongside Watchfinder. 💀💀💕💕💕 I am still fan girling!
Hey Britt. If you see this comment it might be worth you looking into buying a Ranger bracelet. it fits the 58 perfectly as they have the exact same case. No rivets. T-Fit! It is around £700 direct from Tudor, but when I added one to my BB58 it elevated it in both looks and comfort instantly 🥰

It’s such a shame that the no date only comes in black. -.- I want a no date but something a bit funky!! You’re soooo lucky to have the P39 tho!!! Not an easy watch to get my friend. Absolutely love the titanium and the sunburst bezel!
I want to like the Submariner, but I do love my Aquis. I don’t know that they directly compete in any other way than I was personally cross shopping them, but Oris came out on top, weirdly. And I think I feel more comfortable taking my Oris places and using it like the tool watch it was engineered to be. When I want to flex, there’s always Cartier, and the other 90% of the time, it’s Oris.
I have a bb58 and 114060 Sub. While I love both, the bb58 gets way more wrist time simply because it’s more comfortable. The smaller size, lighter weight and slimmer case back fits my wrist perfectly.
@@willharris8441 I think you'll really like the Pelagos 39 if you find the BB58 too small. I tried the Pelagos 39 on at my AD and it feels like it falls in between the BB58 and Sub on my wrist.
This is a great comparison, and it only reinforces my feeling that I massively prefer the BB58 on every level: price/value, aesthetics, materials (can’t stand ceramic), dimensions, wearing experience, and brand (I don’t love the unwanted attention Rolex brings). With sub prices coming back down, I’d say keep saving towards a sub if that’s what you really want and don’t settle for a BB. Both great watches but no comparison IMO.
I prefer the aluminum bezels. Got an old Sub and recently bought a Tudor BB Heritage and love both bezels. I started to discover the esthetic of aluminum bezels when the ceramic bezels came out. And by the way: my Sub is now over 20 years old and the bezel has not got a single scratch although it is used as an all day watch.
Please do a color series. Best red watches in different budgets/ watch types. Best blue watches... Best green watches... Best gray... Etc... You could make a bunch of content or if that one series. You can even
Walking and hiking in the UK in February 🥶fingers crossed you get more watches in for review maybe Adrian can hook you up and we will see you in Switzerland 🇨🇭 🙂keep up the good work and doing what your doing 😎
Tudor makes me sad and I agree that I think that it is a great watch for the money. Unfortunately, I can't stand the snowflake hands nor the slab sides. I also don't think that Tudor would be half as popular if it wasn't tied to Rolex. Still a great watch.
I have the 41-mm sub. It’s my weekend watch. I can see why you have reservations about its size. I would encourage puppy to buy it and borrow it from him every once in a while 😅
Cool video. I prefer the BB58 aesthetic to the current submariner but I prefer the pre-ceramic Subs to the BB58. The problem with the Sub is the value proposition has been destroyed as well as the tool heritage. People are getting the call a lot more for Subs lately so I think availability is a lot better recently.
I own both a 126610LV and a Tudor BB58 black/gilt dial. The Rolex is a stunning watch, it receives a lot of attention every time I wear it (which can be good or bad) and is objectively the far better watch. However, I have bonded more with my Tudor, as it has a certain vintage charm that the Rolex lacks (and it is lighter, especially on its Forstner jubilee bracelet, which adds to its comfort on wrist and its vintage charm).
@@gordonmclees95I've never had a problem wearing the Sub, but I'm smart about when to wear it and when not to. The green bezel is an attention getter. One needs to have situational awareness when wearing a Rolex in public. Cheers!
Britt I own both a 5 digit Rolex Submariner and Two Tudor Black bay 58 OG and Navy. The new Rolex Subs do not fit me the best either. My wrist is 6.25 inches. My suggestion would be try on the Rolex 16800 or 16610 Submariner it fit your wrist a lot better. The price point is better at under 10k us. My personal Submariner is 16610 and fits my wrist perfectly and so does the 58. So give the older Sub a try to me it is like wearing a good old pair of jeans. You are right Tudor has killing with there dive watches. Great video keep up the great work Britt.
Ouuuu I love vintage subs! …. Ok… I just love vintage Rolex! 🙈 omg, I’ve got a vintage GMT video coming out next week, and I’m sooo excited! Once again - vintage GMT Master fits me far better! 🙈 now. I just need to find some vintage Rolex money!
My blue BB58 was a stretch for me and it’s the only luxury watch in my collection, but it’s absolutely perfect. I think I’ll add a Rolex someday, but the Tudor has my heart.
Maybe I am alone with this, but I actually really don't like the mercedes hands of Rolex and prefer much more the snowflake hands of the Tudor and I am not saying this, cause I own a BB 58. But I just prefer the simpleness... The mercedes hands don't work for me with the other, simpel, geometrical elements, like indices and the functional purpose of these watches. And I really don't know why everyone says, the snowflake hands are weird, are people just used to the Rolex look and that's why they look wrong to them? For me they are superior!
Hi Britt! Great vid. I purchased a Rolex in the mid 80s when they were still primarily a solid, dependable, tool watch (although also a bit of a status symbol in my unit). I beat hell out of that watch for the next 30-odd years, sold it, and have never looked back. I currently own a BB Bronze, and actually prefer the brand. Tudor is solid, dependable, and unpretentious, IMHO. I'm not a hater, but Rolex just doesn't fit me anymore.
Omg I LOOOOVE THE BB BRONZE! What a choice! And you're sooo right - Tudor is sold and dependable and unpretentious! I relate to all of this. I'm not a Rolex hater. I just find myself gravitating to Tudor more.
BB58 looks better on your wrist no mistaking that... colour and size both better suited. Perhaps a pre-ceramic Kermit? My issue with the BB58 blue that I sold is never got used to going without a date function.
I have both and love both. I actually find they are not redundant in the collection which was a concern for me initially. There are a lot of situations where I don’t want the flash of the sub, and the the bb58 slides right in to fill that role. Great vid!
I couldn’t agree more… I have a BB58 black and managed to pick up a non-date Sub, 41mm last June (3 month wait 😊) and I must admit I wear them both equally. I had originally planned to sell the 58, but I have removed the bracelet and have about 10 different straps for it (it looks great on anything) all more wearable than the OEM bracelet. The Sub IS superior in nearly every aspect, especially the bracelet, there is just something about the 58 that has made it a keeper…
@@Simon_McGee The BB58 is a perfect strap monster watch. I use it the same way as you and keep the on its bracelet because it’s the best bracelet ever. I actually sold my bb58 to get a pro and then ended up rebuying the bb58 to highlight your point about it being a keeper. Now it’s never leaving the collection again.
I bought a Pelagos 39 in December and love it - IMO very similar to a Submariner. This morning I bought a Submariner No Date and am now wondering if I should keep the Pelagos 39. I know I’m blessed to have both, and if you do buy a Pelagos 39 I’m confident you’ll love it. Great video Britt.
Always liked the submariner and they were really cool years ago. People who had done well for themselves or who were celebrating a special occasion or birthday would treat themselves to a Rolex and wear it every day and enjoy it. Now they are mainly worn by people who know exactly how much their watch is worth on the secondary market as it sits in it’s box🤦🏻♂️ I owned the Tudor and it’s a good watch but the Born to Dare thing and every conversation about Tudor involves “it’s like a cheap retro Rolex” and then there’s all the quality issues 😬 I think I would rather get a Oris because a Oris is a Oris and not a big brands budget brand 🫣
Finally Gringa Sunday again 🙌🏻 First of all epic video as always Britt 🔥 Personally I would totally love a Sub with the dimentions of the BB58 and an alluminum bezel too. Its not like I am on the market for any of those two watches haha but a Sub in 39 mm with an alluminum bezel would make a killer watch 🙌🏻🤩. But I have to totally agree with you that the Sub its a more aestethically pleasing watch 🤭. Anyways…….thats just my humble opinion. Have a great Sunday ☀️
I own the (2) Tudor BB41's and a Rolex OP39. Very similar watches, you can see the DNA in the dials. The Tudors are a better value and fit me better, but the OP39 is a more refined watch, thinner, better finishing and just a step above. All three are +2 seconds or better and all have a place in my collection. (I don't own a sub because I HATE Mercedes hands!)
Britt, enjoy your camping trip. Remember the old adage that if you see a bear, you don't have to out run out. You just have to keep ahead of the person between you and the bear! 😇
I have them both and adding the aftermarket “ easy link “ on the 58 makes the world of difference. Just a thought for all those turning down the 58 because of the clasp. $125 can change things entirely
My preceramic black seamaster from 2010 is great value.full set great condition on my omega nato due to the bracelet issue you described with your tudor.wasnt cheap but love it
Britt, thank you for your hard work gorgeous! The Tudor BB 58 is a perfect watch which fits many purposes and pleases almost everyone. I have mine ever since they announced it. I wear it often and I absolutely love it. The Subbie is a different story. Love or not, it is a classic. The epitome of a diver’s watch. It will hold it’s value forever but is hard to get at retail. In contrast one can snatch the BB 58 for $2500 at the secondary market.
You presented a well reasoned and articulated point of view concerning these two watches. Take money and lack of availability out of the equation and I honestly still wouldn’t want a modern Rolex submariner. Now a vintage Rolex Sub from the 1950’s or the 1960’s and oh yeah! I’m all over it! It’s not that I dislike Rolex, it’s just that I much prefer tool watches over luxury and status symbols. I’m not dissing them or anyone who likes them, I simply prefer my watches to be everyday tool watches. The Tudor BB leans closer to that vintage aesthetic and charm that current Rolex Subs. Excellent video!🥃
Your same Tudor Black Bay 58 Blue is my dream diver. I’m saving up money as we speak to get that some day. I was just able to secure my grail watch, the new Moonwatch, so I believe this will be the perfect complement to it! Keep up the great work Britt!
Great review Britt. Since you are going camping, best watch for camping and outrunning natural predators? Tudor Ranger or Rolex Explorer II? Please tell us before your go. Just in case.
@@BrittPearceWatches I am not sure that the timepiece that aided the crew of Apollo 13 would be of much help at Camp Crystal Lake, but if it’s an Ed White, at least we go out in style! Love your reviews! Best of luck on the submarine assembly!
So I just bought a Sub 114060 recently, even though the navy bb58 is what I've been looking at the past year or so. But the Sub being perfect on paper and looking killer on photos and YT-videos, I gave in. I really love your Patagonia vest analogy, because that truly is how it feels!!! It's like the superman of watches. Built from steel and precious metals, crafted to live through a nuclear war. But it freaking feels off. A bit big. A bit heavy. Cold. We don't truly resonate. I've made a promise to myself, which is to force myself to keep it for a month. But my heart is drawn to the navy bb58. I sense a swap coming. Thanks as always, for you being you🥳
I have had two Rolexes, an OP two-tone (still owned)!and a Yacht-Master I. Insofar as dive watches are concerned, my choice is the Grand Seiko SBGA229 spring drive. Sophisticated but indestructible horology with fine finishing. I get that Rolex makes better clasps, etc., but Grand Seiko’s finishing and detail trumps Rolex IMHO. It is ironic that Seiko, the king pin of dive watches, has not been more successful with GS dive references but one day that will change. As between a Tudor BB 58 and a Rolex Submariner, I would pick the Tudor as it is more in keeping with what a tool watch should be in terms of the historic values of Hans Wilsdorf.
I know I am in the minority. I chose a Tudor 41 with the blue bezel because I prefer it over the sub. The sub is a little to small for my taste and like the look of the Tudor better. I agree the Tudor is more of a legitimate tool watch, as well.
I love the no date, AD, called. But when I tried it on, it felt so off. Friends thought I was foolish to turn it down. But would rather wait for one I like from the AD, and the AD actually calls more frequently knowing I'm a serious buyer. 😊 The LHD is my 4th Tudor 🏆🏆🏆🏆, though no one here asked. About $20,000... A very poor man's rolex😂😂😂 Where Rolex doesn't get my money is materials. Tudor with bronze, titanium, ceramic etc. Has a lot of warmth to the character of the watches.
I think the Tudor wears better on smaller wrists.. smaller case size and slimmer lugs. Plus it a little less blingy… I say for you stick with the Tudor..

OUU hooo!! Why thank you! 💕🎉
With sub prices coming back down, I’d say keep saving towards a sub if that’s what you really want and don’t settle for a BB. Both great watches but no comparison IMO.
I Have both a Bi colour Sub and a BB pro it’s the Tudor that I wear everyday.
There’s something about preceramjc wagches that just makes me happy!

Perhaps the Pelagos 39, although titanium is not for everyone? Greetings from Edmonton Canada! Love your channel and perspective!
Oh it definitely isn't for everyone!
Tudor makes me sad and I agree that I think that it is a great watch for the money. Unfortunately, I can't stand the snowflake hands nor the slab sides. I also don't think that Tudor would be half as popular if it wasn't tied to Rolex. Still a great watch.
Gaaaah I know so many people agree!! Snowflake hands snd the side slab definitely arent for everyone! 🙈✨
Always thought I liked the BB58 better… until I got the magic call for my Submariner. I sold my BB58 shortly after.
OUUU HOOOO! what sub did you get?!
@@BrittPearceWatches it’s the 124060… the no date. Thanks for replying!
Yup! Availability is about to be really great!
Yep. The calls seem to come when interest rates spike, credit dries up, persistent inflation, and global economic slowdown. Imagine that? 😆
Has you rolex ever attracted the attention of the criminal fraternity ! Is this something i should consider when buying a rolex ???
@@gordonmclees95I've never had a problem wearing the Sub, but I'm smart about when to wear it and when not to. The green bezel is an attention getter. One needs to have situational awareness when wearing a Rolex in public. Cheers!
@dannyg6592 thankyou for your response ! I too will be careful if i manage to get one !
Getting the Black Bay Ceramic in like 3 weeks. So stoked
Whaaat!! 🎉 that is amazing!!! So exciting! Biggest congrats EVER!
@@BrittPearceWatches Hey Thanks :D I just went and checked it out again in person yesterday. Dig the channel!
@@BrittPearceWatches I will be looking forward to seeing the GMT video the 5 digit and 4 digit GMTs are amazing.
My blue BB58 was a stretch for me and it’s the only luxury watch in my collection, but it’s absolutely perfect. I think I’ll add a Rolex someday, but the Tudor has my heart.
Wise Adamascus. I'd like to see your take on one of those things. 904l steel diver out of Thailand. Cheers
Ouuu I will look into it! ^_^
@@BrittPearceWatches great! 😁
I agree the bb58 is my favorite too. My favorite Rolex is the Explorer 👌
Ahhh the explorer is just too good 🎉
I bought my first Rolex in 1980 (Datejust).
So the Sub is King 😉
Love your Channel Britt, a cut above the rest, all of them. 🖐
Oh I love it! You’re a long tine collector! 😱💕💕
And you are much too kind! Thank you sooo much!
Hi Britt, Many of the points you brought up are the same reasons I think the Pelagos 39 is an ideal watch for me. Just wish P39 wasn’t so hard to get…
Great video. I have the JC Rolex dive and the 4000 red. For every day wear I seem to reach for the Tudor. Just saying. Thanks
You are definitely not alone in this!
same opinon …try it several times…not my watch …my BB58 Blue is perfect 😍
We are two peas in a pod!
I sold my 2002 Sub no date after buying the Tudor Pro, to be fair I never wore it so it made sense to sell and buy the Pelagos 39 and a Ranger
Ps. You can actually buy Tudor watches 🤣🤣
Black bay 58 every day, I like the bronze too but the watch which has caught my attention is the Christopher Ward C65 Aquitaine Bronze
Great review 👍
Hi Britt!
The Black Bay Bronze Bucherer has been on my (large) wrist for the last few weeks.
One of the best Tudor / Rolex comparison videos on TH-cam! The struggle is real, and love your perspective on why you prefer the Tudor!
BB58 looks better on your wrist no mistaking that... colour and size both better suited. Perhaps a pre-ceramic Kermit? My issue with the BB58 blue that I sold is never got used to going without a date function.
Oh pre ceramic Rolex and omega is my love language!
I have both and love both. I actually find they are not redundant in the collection which was a concern for me initially. There are a lot of situations where I don’t want the flash of the sub, and the the bb58 slides right in to fill that role. Great vid!
So what you’re saying is…. I, too, need to buy both…… 😜💕 best go get my name down on the list!
2-3 years wait list 🤦🏼♂️
@@BrittPearceWatches haha exactly! Especially since you have the blue dial bb58…a black sub would go perfectly with it. Just sayyyyin
I wore a Sub for over 10 years in the 80's and 90's. I bought a 126610LN last year and was so bored with it left the collection within 6 months.
Oh I want a P39 soooo bad! You’re sooo lucky to own one! 😱💕 biggest congrats ever on getting such an amazing piece!
Isn't the real question for us proletarians: "Should I spend $3,000 or $15,000?"
You should get an aftermarket bracelet (with custom fitted end-links) for your Black Bay.
Ouuuu I should look into it. ^_^
I still love my BB58 Navy Blue. Got it for 2 years. But I would be very glad with a vintage Submariner.
16610LV = Cermit
126210LV = Starbucks
Oh man! I love a vintage Sub!
Finally Gringa Sunday again 🙌🏻
First of all epic video as always Britt 🔥
Personally I would totally love a Sub with the dimentions of the BB58 and an alluminum bezel too.
The Rolex submariner LV (Starbucks) is perfection
I own the (2) Tudor BB41's and a Rolex OP39. Very similar watches, you can see the DNA in the dials. The Tudors are a better value and fit me better, but the OP39 is a more refined watch, thinner, better finishing and just a step above. All three are +2 seconds or better and all have a place in my collection. (I don't own a sub because I HATE Mercedes hands!)
You know! There's been quite a few people who hate the Mercedes hands in the comments! :O
Britt, enjoy your camping trip. Remember the old adage that if you see a bear, you don't have to out run out. You just have to keep ahead of the person between you and the bear! 😇
Entrambi belli e particolari , il suono della lunetta del Sub è stupendo.
I have them both and adding the aftermarket “ easy link “ on the 58 makes the world of difference. Just a thought for all those turning down the 58 because of the clasp. $125 can change things entirely
Who makes the AM extension link? Thanks
Hello WG for me i prefer the Tudor your points are really nice talked i love Rolex a lot but in that match i prefer Tudor love you so much WG
Ahhh Cedric is here!!! Thank you sooo so much£ 💕💕💕
My preceramic black seamaster from 2010 is great value.full set great condition on my omega nato due to the bracelet issue you described with your tudor.wasnt cheap but love it
Oh BABEH, preceramic Omega is my love language.
I Know its not a premium watch but the citizen ecodrive promaster is an awesome dive watch.......
And more accurate!
Totally did a spit take on the “Patagonia vest type” perfect description!
LOLLLL! Man. I loathe the Patagonia best banker types!
Rolex screams "boring". The BB58 gives the "you are the one" feeling.
You know, I always say Rolex is a good choice. Tudor is a COOL choice!
Bahahah! I’ve been an now I am back again! ✨✨ does the Speedmaster make you any faster?! Speedy for outrunning predators?! 😜😂
Thanks as always, for you being you🥳
I swore off rolex submariners and moved on long ago..just got the call from AD to come in to pick it up. In love again. I am a clown.
LOL! Ooooh it’s all apart of the watch geek life! This was me and the Daytona! 😂🙈
Ouuu la la!!! The Tudor 41 is great!!
I love the no date, AD, called. But when I tried it on, it felt so off. Friends thought I was foolish to turn it down. But would rather wait for one I like from the AD, and the AD actually calls more frequently knowing I'm a serious buyer. 😊
The LHD is my 4th Tudor 🏆🏆🏆🏆, though no one here asked. About $20,000... A very poor man's rolex😂😂😂
Where Rolex doesn't get my money is materials. Tudor with bronze, titanium, ceramic etc. Has a lot of warmth to the character of the watches.
I think the Tudor wears better on smaller wrists.. smaller case size and slimmer lugs. Plus it a little less blingy… I say for you stick with the Tudor..
I couldn’t agree more! This is basically this entire video summed up in 4 sentences. 😂💕
