Curious why in the Dutch team, De Roon was often preferred over Koopmeiners to play alongside De Jong. And does he have the mobility to be lone anchor in a midfield 3 in the premier league?
De Jong and Koopmeiners have similar roles, so I think Koopmeiners will be De Jong's backup, while De Roon is supposed to be the ballwinner. Having said that, it isn't really working out as the opposition tends to leave De Roon free in build-up without much danger, and I expect to either see Wijnaldum drop back to play alongside De Jong and have Klaassen at 10, or to see Gravenberch start there. Koopmeiners usually plays in a double pivot alongside Midtsjo, so I don't see him being the lone anchor. Also, while he's great for AZ, we've seen from just about everyone who's left the Eredivisie last season (Ziyech, Van de Beek, Idrissi, Bergwijn) that the step up to the top 4 leagues is huge. So while you never know beforehands, I wouldn't want to be dependent on it working out. Remember, the last guys to leave AZ for the Premier League were Jahanbakhsh and Vincent Janssen, hardly an encouraging prospect.
I can't stress this enough... Here we are looking at big money deals for people like Rice, Ndidi, Locatelli but nobody is looking at BOUBACAR KAMARA at Marseille. He's strong, fast, but also tanky, and is also a great CB as well as CDM. Its like nobody knows he exists. He would be a perfect addition to the team. SIGN HIM UP OLE. A CDM next to Pogba in a double pivot would leave us too open. Pogba can't play in a double pivot, idk how much proof people need. At Juve he had Vidal & Marchiso do the defensive work for him. At the world cup he had Kante beside him (who does the work of two men) and Matuidi to his left who would tuck in & do a lot of defensive work). Here at United we've tried him COUNTLESS times in the double pivot (even beside a prime Matic) and he has still left us open. Why do you guys think Ole plays him on the left of a front 3? I would say from the way you described the habilities needed for that position João Palhinha from Sporting is a great player for that position might not come that cheap tho cause sporting are looking to keep most players for next season but he is young with some experience really amazing passing specially long passing and great tackler
We have to sign Maxence Caqueret from Lyon. He's in the running for the best young player in Ligue 1. In the mould of a Verratti type midfielder in that he can dictate the tempo and is extremely press resistant. I think he also might have the best stats for distance covered for midfielders in Europe. Must sign he will be a superstar!!
Thoughts on Stuttgarts Wataru Endo? As far as I know plays in a double pivot. is a superb tackler and a hard worker off the ball, and most importantly comfortable with both feet and a good passer.
I rate Keepmeiners especially after he's improved, but can some explain who wanted Donny? I really rate the guy but he doesn't fin into our team, he isn't going to play in the Pivot and i'm not sure were he would play for us.
The problem is that United's scouting isn't very good and we tend to go for the most obvious signings on paper- the bigger names in the PL. And after how Ole has treated VDB, the only CDM listed that will be given game time is Declan Rice.
I like Tchoameni and Koopmeiners from this video but my first choice would be Rodrigo Betancur from Juve (very good all round -quick with height and creativity and with the ability to really protect the backline, noted for his tackling, interceptions and concentration while also good at through balls and long shots), maybe available at a decent price if Juve fails to make Champions league. Second option for me is Mikel Merino from Sociedad (not much pace but good at defending, he is strong in the air and cuts out key passes and also going forward with dribbling and incisive passing).
2 out of 3 are box to box...? eh? Dave!! We need a proper DM - experienced playing as the deepest of a 3, comfortable under pressure, good passing range. Basically - a deep-lying playmaker. We already have 2 combative high energy box-to-box midfielders.
All i gotta say is.. thank god alot of people outside of Portugal dont know about Palhinha yet bc I dont wanna see him leave my club yet. And a selfish part of me hopes he doesent play too much at the Euros bc then everyone will come calling for him.
First few midfielders he named are pressers. We already have those in Fred and Mc. We need a screener or protector of the defense. A def midfielder that is disciplined and do not lose their position. A player in the mold of Fabinho or Rice.
we should have looked at marc roca before he went to Bayern. If we had got him a season ago I think he would be pushing for that pivot role this season for sure. Rice would be good I also think they could look to turn someone they already have at the club over to a CDM. Like Bailly or Axel IMO. I think both of them are comfortable on the ball but if they're mainly there to protect the back 4 i think they'd be good enough to do it and cover out wide too. I think converting one of them to CDM with Pogba and Bruno in front and then spending money on a world class CB, Haaland and Sancho, Trippier at RB and maybe a GK if we well De Gea and we could challenge.
Expectations: Pau Torres, Kane, Ndidi Reality: Tyrone Mings, Ings, Rice Note: if you rate rice, you don't know ball sadly. Will be our next maguire for 90m
Yes! Ndidi is better than Rice in every aspect and he would probably be cheaper as well! Tomas Soucek is the main reason why that West Ham midfield work and Ndidi is a better midfielder than him
With Koopmeiners the concern would be the adaption from Eredivisie. Mentally he would have to check out. Who was the last guy from there to make it at OT - Stam? Just look at DVB to see how bad this can go - perhaps a straight swap. Utd get a possible Matic upgrade, Donny is free to go home and find whatever it was that made him a professional footballer.
Trying too hard to be a hipster again Dave. Both Ambarri & Tchouameni have good potential but we need someone who is ready now, a title challenge next season is a must.
Koopmeiners for sure... the other two would be too similar to what we already have in Fred and McTominay. This guy seems like he can be commanding like Matic was in his prime
Personally, I would like to see Koopmeiners (left)and Neves(right) in our pivot. Pinging from deep and stretching low blocks is the way to create against such sides. City, Liverpool have got players to do so. It's time we go back to our roots - scholes carrick esque kind of midfield. Playing in a 2-2-6 shape or lop sided 3-1-6 will allow us to break lines with 4 players in between the lines. One each in wide zone to draw full backs out. Triangles, third man runs, rotations, cutback, etc are the things missing right now.
May be someone from this list or someone else but for sure Manchester United need a solid defensive midfielder for the next step! Hope the scouting team is watching!!
I really liked seeing Donny van de Beek in a deeper role, I felt he broke down play well and his distribution was good. I think Fred is good in rotation and brings good energy for the last 70 min but has too many mistakes in him. The CDM / box to box midfielder should be United priority over attackers this year
What about João Palhinha from Sporting, boss of the midfield in their championship winning season and Sporting always provides great players for United and for great prices aswell
What about Franck Kessie? He's pretty good - 11 goals & 6 assists from dm for AC Milan, 24 years old, wants to play for United at some point. To describe him, you would have to use his nickname pre-captain "The Tank"
@@StatmanDaveClips his long limbs get him around and he reads the game really well. But I can see where you're coming from, hopefully we have a good window
We desperately need a CDM but I get worried about who our targets are cause we’ve been linked more to a striker, Sancho and a CB than a CDM. In fact the most we’ve heard on a CDM is that United admires Declan Rice. Well I admire Meghan Markle too but it doesn’t mean I’m gonna make a move!
Need a lot more players than most people think.. Need a right winger, a striker (martial needs to go), a centre back, a left back (Telles and Shaw ain’t good enough), a right back to challenge AWB, and at least two central midfielders because Pogba and Fred both need to go too.. Ain’t happening all in one summer, but as long as we make progress again next season it’s all good, no rush
ndidi is the clear and obvious choice except he'll command a massive fee. I can see why we would go with Rice as he's a commanding presence in midfield and he does play similarly to matic, imo locatelli would be my main pick, not too different from koopmeiners
There are 3 more players who United should definitely be looking at IMHO; They are: 1. Ruben Nevers from Wolves, who is available for just £35 million this summer. He is Premier League proven and would be a perfect player to play alongside Paul Pogba IMHO. 2. Saul Niguez from Atletico Madrid; who is apparently available for a bargain price, that’s reported to be as low as just £39 million. Just like Ruben Nevers, I think he would be perfectly suited to play alongside Paul Pogba in a double pivot. 3. Kalvin Phillips from Leeds; who although wouldn’t be cheap; It may be possible, to reach a (player plus cash) deal, with Dan James going the other way. He would be the best option IMO to play as a number 6; His passing range and accuracy are exceptional; He is the main reason Leeds have been so deadly going forward. However If a deal can be reached involving Jesse Lingard (plus cash) then Declan Rice from West Ham would be my first/preferred choice. I would also really like Wilfred Ndidi from Leicester City. However I think he would be far too expensive, because Leicester do not need to sell at any price.
Koopmeiners, Declan Rice and Bissouma should be our main shortlist this summer. Dave for DOF

What about João Palhinha from Sporting, boss of the midfield in their championship winning season and Sporting always provides great players for United and for great prices aswell
Please include this players in your next video (Defensive Midfielders from PL) - Ruben Neves, Declan Rice, Ndidi and Bissouma
What about Franck Kessie? He's pretty good - 11 goals & 6 assists from dm for AC Milan, 24 years old, wants to play for United at some point. To describe him, you would have to use his nickname pre-captain "The Tank"
would be quite expensive, but very class
Palhinha is so good, he's like a young Matic without the rocket!! Reckon he'd be reasonably priced too compared to some of these others.
Think he aint mobile enough...
Koopminers is the one
Hey dave
Do you think we should look at denis zakaria and ndidi too as potential cdm options
also need someone who moves off the ball to receive those passes from CDMs. Rashford and Martial barely move to open space. Need a CF and RW as well
For what we exactly need (someone to sit in front of the defence) Tchouameni is the best option
Apart from the midfielders, what do you think about joão palhinha? That guy could be a beast to us.
Dave what do u think of locatelli as a cheaper alternative to rice?
ndidi is the clear and obvious choice except he'll command a massive fee. I can see why we would go with Rice as he's a commanding presence in midfield and he does play similarly to matic, imo
locatelli would be my main pick, not too different from koopmeiners
There are 3 more players who United should definitely be looking at IMHO; They are:
