Regarding the clubs, I think any football fan would be in pain or feel sorry for the way MU players act ▶️. It is very painful. At this moment, I feel that everyone (fans, spectators, supporters, players, coaches, staff, directors, owners) at the club is stressed - worried, anxious. This is a state of being. Everyone at the matches is poisoned with this energy. A football match is present. Alertness, awareness in every pass, tackle, dribble, shot, run, reading of the game. Stress - worry and anxiety shift the attention of any player to look at the past (let them think about lost matches) and look to the future (let them think about winning). All this energy in the minds of the players takes them away from what they need to do. They need to act in tactical-technical terms every second. Furthermore, focusing too much on the result instead of performance leads to even more destruction. 'All we know is that stress makes anyone underperform. In any area. It's as if everyone knows it, but no one acknowledges it. It's as if everyone looks, but no one sees. But looking and seeing are two completely different things. The root problem at MU is energy and focus on the result (at least in this difficult time). The first and most important ones to change the mentality are the fans, the supporters. Why? Because they are the strongest energy in a club. They are the "water in the aquarium." The team is the "fish." Expecting healthy fish by not cleaning the water will not solve anything. The Club collective needs to heal, and the team is only 1% of that part.
Please rio I know u meet with the manager ...pls tell him to use our academy players ...we can't keep using casemiro ,ericksen, Maguire, dalot, zirkzee ......we have academy players ........this team will never become something even individualy speaking they don't improve themselves .....get this message to amorim
@@Footieheritage Large parts of the fanbase are toxic. Especially over the years towards players with certain characteristics: - Academy graduates (eg Darren Fletcher, Tom Cleverley, Scott McTominay, Marcus Rashford, and now Garnacho) - Captains: Maguire, now Bruno - Highest earners: Maguire, Rashford, Bruno - Players with a certain cultural (American) dress and style: Pogba, Rashford, Lingard
@@Ti0Luch0 Lol 'fired' - some of these guys have 4 years left on contracts north of £200k per week. They can't be sold without their agreement, and nobody will pay them what they currently earn.
Literally well said. Not a UTD fan but been watching all the games since the new manager and it’s not the system it’s the fact they can complete passes. It’s not the system,it’s the players giving the ball away.
They're static in possession there's no urgency or trust in the way amorim wants to play because it's new they don't understand or trust the system yet.
Spot on mate 👌 I always had a huge respect towards Ralph Ragnick. He didn’t fit into Uniteds ideology, he was honest and only focused on improving the team. United owners and people behind the team were rotten greedy parasites. Bonfire for Glazers 🤬
Rangnick was full of BS. When he thought he would be getting a permanent appointment in the front office he was singing praises. The minute he was told his contract wouldn't be extended, he became critical.
The manager is not the issue, its the players can't play his system, it's Ineos and Glazers fault need them out. United need to get rid of the deadwood
At this rate we don't know Amorim but one thing for sure the players are definitely an issue. some clowns and brainless pundits/reporters kept blaming Amorim for playing a system which the players are not familiar. lets use common sense, why did the previous manager sacked??weren't they playing the way they are familiar with for the past 3 years? Gary Neville is the biggest clown out there.
You clowns make me laugh, Ineos we're your saviours a few months ago, now they're the glazers mark 2. Amorim was the messiah sent to Manchester to save you, now he's out of his depth and not good enough. Clown show support
@ItSdAb1zZle you are pratt, I never supported Ineos never wanted them to own united I want Qatar as wanted Glazers out, its certain united fans wanted Ineos, absolute pratts. United never got rid of the deadwood players.
You can’t get rid of “dead wood” as soon as you sell them for less than what you bought them for it’s marked as a loss. You already got of with a 74mil ffp violation. You have no cash, no assets to sell, a team where you’re best players are past it, new ones who aren’t up to it. I think as fans you need to start getting real about the mess you are in. The spending of yester year has got you in this mess. No manager has been allowed a few seasons to build a squad and imprint a footballing ethos throughout the club. But most United fans feel they have a god given right to be at the top, the same as ratcliffe does and until you level with yourselves nothing changes.
The club should NEVER have selected a manager with a distinctive 3-4-3 system and philosophy if they can’t back him in the market and get him what he needs, exactly! Back the coach, not these players who have failed multiple managers!
Which players have failed "multiple" managers? Only Rashford (transfer listed) Maguire (transfer listed) and Bruno Fernandes remain from the Ragnick/Solskjaer era.
It’s training that the manager wants badly. I know they need players but they need training most because even the new players need to understand fully what way we play
@@jayjay639 Not bothered about the players. Fans are wrong if they think any players go onto the pitch to be publicly humiliated in front of their fans in stands and a watching world on screen. The buck stops with the people running the club. If relegation and a couple seasons in the Championship is what it would take to get rid of these people. I would take it, and re-set.
agreed, the team need a shock, they tried a shortcut for these many years after fergie, i've been waiting for more than 20 years to see MU raise to top and these lot can't help rebuild MU, at least not this season.
Most solid thing I've heard Rio say for time. Have a word with neville and his continual application of pressure. It's making things worse. Respect Rio
He was laughing on air yesterday, I truly think he enjoys the views/clicks he gets from bashing this team. Meanwhile he drools over Liverpool…it’s disgusting
I just want to say that i'm a huge united fan, i'm Portuguese and believe me when i say it's very sad what's happening to united... I'm also a FC Porto supporter and i know that Amorim, as a coach, i would love to see i'm coaching Porto so give it time... In my humble opinion this problems that are affecting United goes much deeper than the coaches are concerned, personally when Ronaldo gave that interview i thought it was to much but know i know that he did that for the love he has for the club... I know it hurts to see such an iconic club being a low average team but i really thing that you guys have the right coach. Just like you said let's finish this season the best way you can and let's see what Amorim is able to do next season, don't expect him to be champion but expect a huge improvement... It's hard to ask the supporters of such a big club to wait one or two more years before consistent results appear but that is the way to go... Now a quick word to Rio, i love you man, i followed you your all career and i love the way you talk about football, really a great example and you should be on that dressing room to show those guys what is like to be a united player... I wish all the best for you, your family and for united in 2025.
Amorim is a decent young manager but bringing him in November and not allowing him to compete in the Transfer Market in January is poor leadership and highlights that the hierarchy are shambolic. The players, said it for years now, a lot of them need to be sold!!
Quite agree and Sir Jim should have fired ten hag after the cup final and got Ruben in then and given him the 200 m that they spent in the summer and he would have had pre season to get his methods across
Doesn’t matter when he came in, he’s not getting anything out of this team, they are cooked. You keep over paying mediocre players because they had a decent season them they lose all motivation once they made their money. United is a joke of a club 😂
I disagree. Bringing him in mid season is totally correct. The season was gone anyway as far as the league is concerned so he will use the season to show what players he has which are not much.
@@terencegallagher811 it was a bad decision because his aura has been completely vanquished. He came in as a highly rated young manager now he’s just another Utd manager that can’t buy a win that might not last the season
When players cant make simple 5 yard passes it should tell you all you need to know about where the problem lies. Hint: it's neither the mamager nor the system
Love that in this day and age we can listen to people with knowlegde like Rio and not have to read the newspaper of some journalist who watched the game
@@ushmush4074 lol I know it's the 31st of December but what have you drank ?😅 How can someone who's not played the game know the game better than someone who's played 500 matches on the highest level.
@@Xivinux because they work hard and study the game. Ex-pros barely watch any football. They often have fantastic insight into the dressing room and professional approaches, but tactics are usually terrible, reactionary and obvious.
Ralph Ragnick did not only say Utd needed open heart surgery, he said they needed mobility, energy and power in midfield. That’s before you look at how light they are in terms of forwards. Genuinely believe Utd could go down on current form and looking at up coming fixtures.
we already DID the open heart. ten hag brought in 2 keepers 4 new defenders, 4 new midfielders, 3 new attackers plus amad, mainoo, garnacho who werent here under rangnick, plus amrabat, weghorst, reguillon etc. that’s at least 16 brand new players with seal. untouched by rangnick or ole. but ten hag bought even worse players that’s the problem
@ yeah by the looks of things Utd ignored the guy who knew what he was talking about and then hired a plumber to complete the surgery. Rather than keep him in the promised consultancy role that could have helped guide them, they pushed him out the club.
There is ZERO chance of United going down. There's also zero chance of Wolves, Everton, or Crystal Palace going down. The three that came up will easily be the three that go right back down.
@NotAFoolNamedHuggyagreed. hindsight is 20:20 though. i was excited by ten hag at least i thought we would create chances every game. one thing rangnick always did, he got the profile of players right. upamecano, konate, mukiele, orban, klostermann etc these 6'3 defenders who can match wingers runs for runs stride for stride etc. at least the team would be full of power. rangnick suggested in that january to buy konate. we ignored him.
Amorim has failed on every metric. Look at Sporting BEFORE he landed, top 3 every season. Its a long way from Utd. Van Nistleroy would have been OK til summer. 3 at back without 2 wing backs, without fittest 2 cm's in PL seems foolhardy at best BUT this team was top 4-trophy-8th-trophy so NOT a championship team of rubbish.
A huge issue last night and since we switched to 3 centre backs is the fact they dont understand the positioning needed. Isak was never picked up last night because they were playing zonal defence. Martinez looks lost when crosses come in the box because he doesnt understand where to stand. They are all used to playing as two centre backs. Also our wing backs are not providing the width effectively they are being pushed back so we drop into a 5 at the back and end up in a low block deep in our own box. When we got the ball we dont move the ball around quick enough or try to penetrate, just backwards, sideways passing thats easy to defend. Play quicker, work harder, forget zonal defending go man to man, get wing backs that get up and down. Also there too many players pulling a wage that are not contributing at all. Add our wage bill and transfer fees up and compare them to Forest (who are 2nd). The players dont give the fans value. They dont work hard enough.
United does not have wingbacks of the quality required to play the system, the wingbacks together are the most pivotal piece of the system without them, the system both fails to score and defend
👍💯 Amorim isn't adapting to his squad. That's his choice but bringing him in before Xmas seems ludicrous. After his choices at Newcastle I'm not convinced
There’s definitely been a problem with the Man U directorship. Since 2013 the managers selected have no tactical throughline. Excluding interims: Moyes (counter-attack 4231) - Van Gaal (433/4231 possession) - Mourinho (defensive/catennachio 4231) - Ole (versatile, counterattack 4231) - Rangnick (Gegenpressing 4222) - Ten Hag (vertical tiki-taka 4231) - Amorim (bespoke pressing/quick transition 3421). So there is no long-term plan coming from footballing directors on what style of play they would like at united. This means that in recruitment it is difficult to know what profile of player to buy, they can’t develop 1st team players into specific roles, and even academy players don’t learn a position or system. All the rich clubs now focus on possession-style football, even Klopp began making that transition at Liverpool in his final 18 months. You would think this might have changed with Ineos but clearly it hasn’t, they renew ten Hag’s contract, then sack him 3 months later and go with a manager with a completely different style of play. If you say we want to develop a modern style of play as our focus, a “modern football culture”, but then consistently sack managers when they don’t get results, then incoming managers will abandon their style of play to whatever suits the squad just to get through the season, so nobody is willing to stick to their principles because if you do and it doesn’t work you’ll get the sack. Obviously, I agree about the players at Man U. It is a simple case of the majority being too old and not good enough. There are very few champions league quality players at united and nobody is world class at the moment. The work rate is poor across the team, few leaders or players with discipline, and the seniors pros in the team seem egotistical and carefree. Transfer business is awful. Can’t sign Frenkie de jong to help build-up play? so let’s buy mason mount and casemiro. Players that are poor/unused in the build-up. The last major signing I can remember where united showed some foresight, and bought a player before selling him for a profit was Daniel James. They can’t move players on because they sign older players past their prime and thus can’t even recoup any value, or they sign raw talents that seem more hit and hope than a fit for the squad so when it doesn’t work out nobody wants them and nobody wants to take on their massive salaries. It is motivated by the fact the commercial side of the club is the priority even in regards to signings (think of how many old/injured strikers have come through over the last decade - Ibra, Ronaldo, Cavani, Falcao- big names coming in for commercials, shirt sales, media attention etc. not because they fit a tactical profile or have development potential). The focus should now be on the academy, because recruitment has proven they cannot buy the right player consistently and they just hope, based on ability or statistics, that it will work out, tactical profile be damned. About Amorim specifically, regardless of the players he has, I think his system has tactical flaws that will prevent him from having success in continental competition. Mainly because out of possession the midfielders join the press high up the pitch and that leaves the space in front of the back 3 open for number 10s to exploit. So I can see how in Champions league games this will be a major weakness. Also in possession the focus on quick transitions from the midfield means unless you’re scoring goals there is no chance of controlling matches, plus the pressing is very physically demanding on the goal scoring positions so late in matches those players may be tired. He could have domestic success (not with this squad) but even there, the premier league is a league where physical wide play, crossing and heading are importing and Amorim’s wing backs are not really tasked with stopping wide play, even at sporting lisbon his wing-backs were more attacking players and let crosses in for his centre-backs to deal with (saw this with the two Newcastle goals yesterday). Not sure how viable that is in the prem. He may adapt the system to negate those weaknesses but as it stands it needs work and I don’t see the end goal being league titles and champions league run under Amorim. United went 26 years before 1992 without winning a league tittle. Even in Fergie’s first five years the finishes were 11th, 2nd, 11th, 13th, 6th. People pretend those years don’t exist because it was first division rather than the rebranded “premier league”. Would Ferguson have been successful if not for the youth team players that came through over the next few seasons? It’s all a big PR job. Even managers currently like Arteta get given time despite winning nothing. The United directorship needs to give a manager (preferably possession-based) an actual run on their contract. If you sign them for 5 years let them see out 5 years; and plan players to come through the youth squad rather than buying in these tired mercenaries who are comfortable playing Saturday-to-Saturday collecting cheques, win or lose hit the booze kind of attitude.
At this stage Ruben should just trust the U21 United players because it can’t get any worse .His got nothing to lose , the current players are this awful , he might aswell trust the youth
He should just bring the wingers and left backs and just coach them to play as wingbacks. Perhaps one of them will have a breakthrough and then we dont have to spend millions on players .
Ragnick’s words were true back then, and they’re more true now. People were shocked at what Ragnick said back then but now we’re seeing the long term effects of that open heart surgery not being done when it required it.
I absolutely agree, what i do not understand is INEOS bringing in Amorim now when they should have waited until the end of the season, we KNEW we didn't have the profile of the player for his system, and yet INEOS said it was now or never rather than wait which would have been better for all parties. RVN could have taken over until then and agreements would have been in place as Amorim wanted to come, this would have given time for planning and target acquisition, as well as given a full pre-season to implement the new system. This is entirely on INEOS, it is too much of an ask to get the players to immediately stop playing a well-used system and then start another with no time to practice. This is basic project management for gods sake.
Is Jim Ratcliffe beyond criticism? The Glazers are still very much there with Jim's early boastings not backed up with actions! Club is totally symbolic both on & off the pitch!
Sir Jim Is a snake. Taking money away from charities and the disabled. Screwing fans with high ticket prices and scrapping concessions. Sacking 250 staff. See how well its gone at his other clubs
6:38 I feel like everyone knew Rangnick was right when he said that. He just didn’t do anything to keep the players/fans positive; but he was definitely right.
None of our players are good in any position. Because they simply have their retirement packages sorted by Ed Woodward. They dont give a f about playing for the stupid badge. Just look at them when they walk out after a loss
@@hanshansen1990Amad isn't gonna have the physical attributes so we need to overcompensate for what's around him. His technical and attacking ability, as well as his consistency in effort, warrants it!
Why can’t they train? Maybe I’m ignorant, but there’s at least 12-14 hours every day. I get that you can’t do full sprints, but why can’t you have hours of tactical/positional training?
@@nevetscoulibaly8292 You've hit the nail on the head. The schedule is relentless. No time for coaching, little time for recovery. The players are exhausted . . .
Happy New Year Rio 🎉 Thank you for all your content this year ❤️ Praying Man United will be better next season in the "Premier League" under Amorim 🫡🙏🇿🇦
As a United fan, the only problem here is the reluctance of entitled Man U fans to realise & accept they aren't contenders and haven't been for ages. But somehow the fans still judge them against their fantasy of competing for the league. No matter how much Man U fans (including those in the media) shout about problems, there IS no problem. Man U are a mid-table team. And they are currently mid-table. Stop being so entitled and support your team.
As a life long fan, who has moved to Ireland it saddened me when my kids on text during the game said they wouldn't watch the second haft as it was too depressing. Sums it up really.
United may find themselves battling with RVN (Leicester) and McKenna (Ipswich) for survival in the PL. Last time they found themselves in a similar situation, Dennis Law (playing for City) back-heeled United to relegation.
You really think that's the reason why our CBs FAILED to jump when the crosses came in for either of those goals? The recruitment of players hasn't been good enough for years and we are simply having to deal with it now
Rio, coaching doesn’t stop players from being unable to make simple 5 yard passes, making poor decisions in the final third or like Casemiro decided to do yesterday SHOOT FROM 50 YARDS AND BALLOON IT OUT OF THE STADIUM 🙃🙃🙃🙃🙃🙃
That was one of the best analysis i´ve seen from you Rio. Understanding the context is so important. No player should get battered in the media the way United players are at the moment and has been over a long time. Of course that will take it´s toll on the players confidence and mental energy to fight for every situation. They are trying their best. I think that is clear to see. But it´s also clear that the players do not know exactly what to do as a unit and don´t have any protcetion from a structure and a system so every little mistake one of them makes makes them look poor for a person that don´t understand the context. You are so important to educate people in this. Neville and the other guys are as well. Unfortunately they are jumping on the "I don´t understand context train" and I expect more from them because they have become a huge part of the problem. They are setting a narrative that this is an individual player problem or a coaching problem which is totally wrong and just screams of lack of knowledge. It´s sad. I have a candidate degree in sport science from a university in sweden plus many yers of coaching experience in elite team sport and i know for a fact that the psychological part of sport is so extremly huge and there are so many logical explanations for the way this team and the individuals in the team is functioning at the moment. You know it, Howson know it. Hargreaves know it as well but you guys are probably the only ones that actually talk about this. The rest of the pundits and "experts are just setting a toxic narrative that is making this situation harder. Please, if you know a psycologist that work with elite athletes, get them on the show so that they can explain for the online fans what actually happens in a persons mind when confidence is low, and one who can explain the psychological mecanics in a team that is low on collective confidence. I really think people do need to understand this and I think the narrative should be trying to explain and understand the situation rather than judging and slating people without the proper context. Thanks again Rio for a very good reaction video. This was exactly what this fanbase needs. Have a great stay in Dubai and happy new year.
Onana, Martinez, Casemiro, Eriksen,Zirkzee…OUT. De Ligt, Maguire, Hojland, squad players. We need a keeper, footballing CB, two wing backs, a centre forward who scores 20+ per season.
We've already had open heart surgery since rangnick said those words... we've completely changed the boardroom and the playing squad. Issue is Ten Hag was the surgeon.
Very sensible words Rio. MU are in the same state as NUFC were when Eddie arrived. I'm not a fan of MU, but I do want Amorim to turn this around and I am sure given the support and time with the players he will do. Happy New Year and keep safe.
Rio i think think this could be a blessing because if amarim was to come in the summer hes giving everyone a clean slate atleast he can see what's what now
Square pegs in round holes. It's a low point for man UTD, and I'm a Liverpool fan. Even when you dominated for all those years we never dropped to as low as you are now. Speechless.
@andrewharrison7767 I'm not suggesting the role of the manager isn't massively important; I'm saying that people see them as having a god-like ability to influence their players. There's absolutely no substitute for quality, no matter how good your formation is
Not only can’t they make 5 yards passes but they can’t even score from 5 yards either.. 🤣🤣🤣🤣. Clearly the manager is not the issue, these players need to go. It’s that simple.
How do these players get paid 200-300k a week and still need a manager to tell them when to press and compete for the ball? And they can't even place simple 5 yard passes.....
no. a rebuild is what chelsea did. replaced 30 players in 2 years. what this fanbass isnt ready for is the truth. instead you re happy to swallow the pill the glazers are selling you that a rebuild takes 5 years and everytime a new manager comes in (2.5-3 years each) the clock resets. bullshit. bin 10 players this summer and another 10 next summer and you ll be making UCL semis and at least being in the conversation for the title but no. instead we re 1.5 billion in debt which ineos didnt and will never pay even if they buy out the glazers completely. even the stadium wont be built by them. ratcliffe wants sponsors and public money to fund the stadium for him to hold events at like Levy does and rake in the cash. if he cared about the club at 73 he would ve liquidated all his assets, bought all of the glazers' stake in the club and replaced the entire squad by 2026 which hasnt and will never do. maguire will get a new contract on 200k at 32. this is man united. antony mount shaw dalot zirkzee garnacho will all be here next season and be either 1. permanently injured on 200k or 2. championship level players at best. the only players that should be here out this lot by 2026 should be Mainoo and Yoro. The rest of them are not champions league level players and never will be. Let alone proper United level which used to be WINNING PL/UCL. The fan base is the biggest problem at this club. If we werent a disgrace we would ve never even allowed the Glazers to buy the club in the first place let alone allowed them to run the #1 sporting organization on planet earth to a relegation battle and getting pumped by liverpool and city for a decade (which is what's gonna happen again on the weekend).
But why caint he dip into the youth the players we brought in the striker from arsenal the cdm we brought he is not using the youth he just keeps doing the same crap every week
The players are absolutely useless, they have 0 confidence or aura to them. There's a good majority of players here who have played under numerous managers and have been mid or lethargic and coasting. It's that or not up to standard, Shaw, Lindelhof, Dalot, Maguire are not up to standard or fitness and a symbol of the mediocrity for a number of years. Bruno is not Manchester United captaincy material. His decision making and immaturity is not what a leader does and I wouldn't mind him being sold too as he goes missing in the biggest games always. There is also no competition or depth, we have one of the worst benches in all of football. Amorim needs backing in the market and this window is the important one to bring some competition, this squad cannot do nothing in a 3-4-3, no pace, no directness and nobody to string things together. Relegation may just be best at this point to give the clubs upper echelon the kick up the @ss it deserves.
Happy New Year to you and your family and team Rio. Thanks for a great year of videos and talking common sense on all things United. Amorim will get it right. Come on MUFC.
Im not even a United fan, but when the club's situation is making you laugh so much right now, it only means that it made you cry a whole lot more for years in the past
Liverpool fan here. Before Arne was confirmed, Alonso was the firmest favourite to take over, and then he let be known in about April that he was committed to Leverkusen. Then Amorim was the next bookie's favourite. So all the forums were chattering about him: record, style and tactics. All are mostly positive but the one constant reserve was his full commitment to 3 at the back, and how it went against everything the club had been preparing the youth for. This will be Utd's biggest issue for the next season and a half, at least.
why not just give up the next 3 games. let the assistant manager and the nonkey bench players mixed with academy boys play so the starters can have a month long boot camp with Amorim. Crazy idea but it can't get worse, we ain't beating Liverpool and arsenal. Lets give him time to train the players.
Dear Rio, I hope this message finds you well. My name is Assaf, and I am writing to you from Sierra Leone as a devoted Manchester United fan. Like many, I’ve watched this club with immense pride over the years, but the current state of affairs at United has left me frustrated, disillusioned, and heartbroken. I wanted to share my thoughts with someone who truly understands what it means to wear that shirt with honor and represent the badge with pride. Watching the current Manchester United squad, it’s painfully clear that too many players lack the mentality required to compete at the highest level. Week after week, I see a team that seems uninterested, lacking both passion and the desire to fight for the club. It feels as though some players don’t even want to be there. The toxic environment surrounding the team is palpable, and it’s tearing the club apart from the inside. The Glazers have a significant hand in creating this mess. Their ownership has brought favoritism and misplaced priorities into the recruitment process, which has destroyed the foundation of this club. Instead of building a team based on merit, hunger, and ambition, we’ve seen decisions driven by commercial interests and political agendas. The result? A squad that is disjointed, uninspired, and far removed from the values that once made Manchester United the pride of England. The lack of enthusiasm and drive among the players is just ridiculous. Gone are the days of players like you, Gary Neville, Paul Scholes, and Roy Keane-individuals who would fight tooth and nail for every ball, who understood the privilege of representing this great club. When I hear people like Gary, Jamie Carragher, Ian Wright, Michael Owen, and Owen Hargreaves analyze the situation, it’s almost as if they’ve forgotten what it’s like to play the game at this level. The mentality that defined your generation-that hunger to win at all costs-is completely absent in this squad. This group of players is lazy, complacent, and simply not good enough. I genuinely believe Ruben Amorim is a brilliant coach. He’s a man with a clear vision, tactical intelligence, and a winning mentality. However, the team he inherited is fundamentally rotten. It’s nearly impossible to build something meaningful when the foundation is so flawed. Until the recruitment department is overhauled and the Glazers are removed from the club, I don’t see Manchester United going anywhere. The Glazers have a history of mismanagement-everything they touch seems to die. Just look at their track record, and you’ll see that United is only the latest in a long line of their failures. This club needs a reset. It needs players who understand the weight of the badge, leaders who inspire the dressing room, and owners who care about the long-term success of Manchester United rather than just their financial gain. Until these changes happen, we’ll continue to see a shadow of the club we once knew and loved. Rio, you’ve been part of the glory days of this club, and your insight and passion for United mean a lot to fans like me. I’m writing this letter not just to express my frustration but also in the hope that voices like yours can continue to hold the club accountable and push for the change we so desperately need. Thank you for taking the time to read this. I’ll always support Manchester United, but like many fans, I’m yearning for the day when we can truly be proud of our team again. With respect and best regards, Assaf Sierra Leone
Yeah because Zirkzee offers so much. Like wandering around like bemused or the ball constantly bouncing off him to the opposition. We might not like the boo’s but he’s not a blameless victim. If you’re not up to it, you’re going to drown under the pressure.
@ Bra he was the third highest scorer in the league. He was brought to score goals you… so telling the truth is what he did wrong? That’s what’s wrong with the world today…
@@howitsdone5516 he scored but prohibited the team from pressing being fast on the counter and play intense „united“ style football … he’d have been a better fit on a team that actually played for trophies or in a lesser league like he is now
Training is not the issue. Last night he made poor decisions with the starting lineup, Casemiro and Erikson are aging. No Mainoo. Against a strong Newcastle midfield. Upfront 2 strikers with Zirkzee totally poor since joining MU. Game was over after the 2nd goal. Missed chances again
The players are the issue. We could have started with Mainoo and Ugarte in there and still would’ve lost. Because we got undone by bad defending. Mazraoui didn’t get out to Lewis Hall quick enough, and Martinez was asleep, giving Isak a free header. Martinez also let Joelinton bully him, because he’s about a foot shorter.

@RagNar-q8p I agree these players are well below par & not good enough. However, as bad as they are, they're looking worst in a system most don't have the IQ for. There's only about 2-3 players who can adjust, so why not try get something out of the majority until we can get rid, and bring his system players in. Amorim has admitted that he has not had the time to train properly with the squad. This is understandable. What is puzzling is: in light of that, why are you trying to impose a system on a group of players that you have not coached properly? It makes more sense to play to their strength in the short term. Anyway...YNWA😊
No, because he was bought in to play his system. Many of these players have gotten 4 or 5 managers sacked. Why give in to them. I’m supporting Amorim 100%. These are ‘professional’ football players earning upwards of £100k per week. If they can’t adapt their game and follow new instructions, then why are they pro footballers?
Nice one. Been a while since I agreed with Rio. It's not about bringing in players. He has proven himself to be a good coach. So he must Coach these players into form, until they buy into his system, until he gets the best out of them. They are good quality professionals, we need to give him time and be patient with these players. It will come good.
Not being able to play the system for whatever reason is one thing, but miss placing 5 yard passes over and over is nothing to do with the system. The players suck

Rangnick was full of BS. When he thought he would be getting a permanent appointment in the front office he was singing praises. The minute he was told his contract wouldn't be extended, he became critical.

@ItSdAb1zZle those are not fans, but internet trolls talking :)

Amorim is a decent young manager but bringing him in November and not allowing him to compete in the Transfer Market in January is poor leadership and highlights that the hierarchy are shambolic. The players, said it for years now, a lot of them need to be sold!!

Actually one of the best level headed and pragmatic analysis I've seen on Rio reacts.
The bar is pretty low to be fair
Happy New Year Rio, health to you and your family
United does not have wingbacks of the quality required to play the system, the wingbacks together are the most pivotal piece of the system without them, the system both fails to score and defend
united haven't been able to defend crosses for a loong time. so its nothing new.
👍💯 Amorim isn't adapting to his squad. That's his choice but bringing him in before Xmas seems ludicrous. After his choices at Newcastle I'm not convinced
There’s no right answer to this but do you think it would’ve been better to have RVN till the end of the season and then Amorim comes in ?

Looking a good point at the minute.
@@craigfoulkes only to the clueless...
Not at all. That would just be kicking the can down the road and righting off next season.
Ruud was a better manager , karma for united
This group of players would never challenge for the league, but should be at minimum top 8 IF THEY ACTUALLY GAVE 100%.
At this stage Ruben should just trust the U21 United players because it can’t get any worse .His got nothing to lose , the current players are this awful , he might aswell trust the youth
He’ll have time to train them too
Facts
So true at this moment in time the youth team players should be given a chance they hungry they will run for the manager through a wall
He should just bring the wingers and left backs and just coach them to play as wingbacks. Perhaps one of them will have a breakthrough and then we dont have to spend millions on players .
This. Look at Barça and how they had to leverage la Masía because none of the big money signings ever worked.

United may find themselves battling with RVN (Leicester) and McKenna (Ipswich) for survival in the PL. Last time they found themselves in a similar situation, Dennis Law (playing for City) back-heeled United to relegation.
Absolutely love this Rio.. So open and honest as always.. We keep the faith with Utd don't we.. Happy New Year and have a great holiday
I think with these players we will lose the upcoming games too, not easy games when they under so much pressure and anxiety! 😢
You're a good man! I really enjoy your authenticity and insight! Cheers! And Thanks! Happy New Year Big Man🙏❤⭐‼
I am scratching my head as to why INEOS hire a coach who plays the opposite to ManU philosophy
I've said this since Fergy left
You really think that's the reason why our CBs FAILED to jump when the crosses came in for either of those goals?
The recruitment of players hasn't been good enough for years and we are simply having to deal with it now
Then refuse to back him in jan…
Where are all the managers before him
To change the philosophy
This is the best analysis of the situation I've seen so far and boy, have I seen some! 😮
Good rugby player, though.
Bringing in Amorim mid season was another stupid idiotic decision by INEOS. Amorim needed a full pre season.
Yeah, just like the Wolves new manager needed a full pre season to turn things around.
Happy new year to you and yours! :)
Unitef could sign Mitrovic but they missed the chance
only ugarte/mazraoui/mainoo/amad deserve to stay tbh.. the rest all need to be transfer listed

We've already had open heart surgery since rangnick said those words... we've completely changed the boardroom and the playing squad. Issue is Ten Hag was the surgeon.
Nah, glazers are still there, budget cuts everywhere, open heart surgery would have been possible with quatar ownership
brilliantly put mate
Very sensible words Rio. MU are in the same state as NUFC were when Eddie arrived. I'm not a fan of MU, but I do want Amorim to turn this around and I am sure given the support and time with the players he will do. Happy New Year and keep safe.

Great insights Rio. Happy new year to everyone.
Been saying it long before even Rangnick was in charge: the players are NOT good enough. People overestimate the role of managers
not really - who picks the formation? Last night was predictable as soon as casemiro & eriksen were facing bruno g & joelinton
@andrewharrison7767 I'm not suggesting the role of the manager isn't massively important; I'm saying that people see them as having a god-like ability to influence their players. There's absolutely no substitute for quality, no matter how good your formation is
I agree with your perspective, the manager needs time. Congrats on the award Rio ! keep going , ps love the channel !
If you can't consistently make 5 yard passes you know you are the problem and none of the players seem to be able to do that.
can't press, too lazy to run, no fighting spirit. there are too many problems
and lack of physicality
In Germany they would play in the third decision
Not only can’t they make 5 yards passes but they can’t even score from 5 yards either.. 🤣🤣🤣🤣. Clearly the manager is not the issue, these players need to go. It’s that simple.
@@RagNar-q8psums up the past 11 years and why we are where we are. Amorim is simply exposing the flaws here
How do these players get paid 200-300k a week and still need a manager to tell them when to press and compete for the ball? And they can't even place simple 5 yard passes.....
If these polyester aren't performing then use the under 18s
Big up ur self Rio all the best 2 u and family;A happy new year 2 u and ur family;bless up;
Facts Rio. Hard truth is most united fans aren’t ready for a proper rebuild
no. a rebuild is what chelsea did. replaced 30 players in 2 years. what this fanbass isnt ready for is the truth. instead you re happy to swallow the pill the glazers are selling you that a rebuild takes 5 years and everytime a new manager comes in (2.5-3 years each) the clock resets. bullshit. bin 10 players this summer and another 10 next summer and you ll be making UCL semis and at least being in the conversation for the title but no. instead we re 1.5 billion in debt which ineos didnt and will never pay even if they buy out the glazers completely. even the stadium wont be built by them. ratcliffe wants sponsors and public money to fund the stadium for him to hold events at like Levy does and rake in the cash. if he cared about the club at 73 he would ve liquidated all his assets, bought all of the glazers' stake in the club and replaced the entire squad by 2026 which hasnt and will never do.
maguire will get a new contract on 200k at 32. this is man united. antony mount shaw dalot zirkzee garnacho will all be here next season and be either 1. permanently injured on 200k or 2. championship level players at best.
the only players that should be here out this lot by 2026 should be Mainoo and Yoro.
Rio dude, Your living the life, Allways on Holiday's, The same can be said with most of the United squad. 🌞
Can't build a Ferrari with Fiat parts! Amorim needs a massive squad overhaul & a ton of time for this to work!
Funnily enough, you could until 2014...Fiat and Ferrari were once closely linked, with Fiat owning a major stake in Ferrari from 1969 to 2014 😂😂😂
But why caint he dip into the youth the players we brought in the striker from arsenal the cdm we brought he is not using the youth he just keeps doing the same crap every week
Don't buy italian
@@bradfordian01274 🤣🤣🤣
Amorim is the best coach let him be given enough time like they give to Ferguson.

Dear Rio,
I hope this message finds you well.
With respect and best regards,
Assaf

Should have been Martinez coming off that pitch not Zirkzee
Or case or Erikson! I thought he learnt after his first game there is no legs with them in midfield
Yeah because Zirkzee offers so much. Like wandering around like bemused or the ball constantly bouncing off him to the opposition.
We might not like the boo’s but he’s not a blameless victim.
If you’re not up to it, you’re going to drown under the pressure.
Zirkzee is well out of his depth..
Happy New Year to you too Rio. Hopefully we'll get the new year bounce
I thought it was Ronaldo’s fault… he made the team play bad. Guess what?, he was correct
He didn’t help the problem either … shouldn’t have returned anyway

Happy new year!
Why is everyone going in hard on zirkzee who just came in and for get the dud hojlund? Who is useless.
Erickson and Casemiro are aged. They belong in an old folks home.
Happy New Year Rio to you and your family! I'm a red since 1960 so have seen it all re Utd.
If we change Ruben, we will seriously regret and will be in more MESS.WE HAVE TO KEEP THE MANAGER.

Casemiro and Ericson should not have been selected in mid field. We have seen that many times against a number of teams. The idea to play it against that Newcastle midfield was negligent.

you really think there is a system for these lazy players? it's not the system bruh, the player don't have the pride to play for united.
@RagNar-q8p I agree these players are well below par & not good enough. However, as bad as they are, they're looking worst in a system most don't have the IQ for. There's only about 2-3 players who can adjust, so why not try get something out of the majority until we can get rid, and bring his system players in. There wasn't a long enough sample size, but Ruud used that tactic (not saying i don't want Amorim btw)
All systems have failed with these players. The hard truth is that, these guys don't want to play. They already planning to relegate our team and jump ship
He wasn’t brought in for that. He was brought in with the remit of sticking to his system

Newcastle United & Eddie Howe’s Takeover:
What Position Were They In?
When Eddie Howe was appointed on November 8, 2021, Newcastle United was in 19th place in the Premier League, with no wins in their first 11 games and relegation looming.
What Were His First Ten Results?
Here are Howe’s first ten results in all competitions:
1. Newcastle 3-3 Brentford (Draw)
2. Arsenal 2-0 Newcastle (Loss)
3. Newcastle 1-1 Norwich City (Draw)
4. Newcastle 1-0 Burnley (Win)
5. Leicester City 4-0 Newcastle (Loss)
6. Liverpool 3-1 Newcastle (Loss)
7. Newcastle 0-4 Manchester City (Loss)
8. Newcastle 1-1 Manchester United (Draw)
9. Everton 3-1 Newcastle (Win)
10. Cambridge United 1-0 Newcastle (FA Cup Loss)
What Players Did They Sign in January?
During the January 2022 transfer window, Newcastle signed:
1. Kieran Trippier (Atletico Madrid, £12m)
2. Chris Wood (Burnley, £25m)
3. Bruno Guimarães (Lyon, £40m)
4. Matt Targett (Loan from Aston Villa)
5. Dan Burn (Brighton, £13m)
How Long Did It Take for Howe’s Ethos and Tactics to Change Results?
While results were mixed at first, significant improvement was evident by February 2022. Newcastle went on a nine-game unbeaten run between February and April, climbing out of the relegation zone. They finished the 2021/22 season in 11th place, showcasing Howe’s ability to transform the team’s mentality, fitness, and tactical discipline in a matter of months.

I remember United being relegated in 74 and they weren’t this bad!! Astonishing!!!
Got tbh, great video and great points.
Nice one. Been a while since I agreed with Rio. It's not about bringing in players. He has proven himself to be a good coach. So he must Coach these players into form, until they buy into his system, until he gets the best out of them. They are good quality professionals, we need to give him time and be patient with these players. It will come good.
What a balanced view, thank you.
Not being able to play the system for whatever reason is one thing, but miss placing 5 yard passes over and over is nothing to do with the system. The players suck
Big respect to Nuno at Forest 👏🏻
