Thanks for the video and the tour of the camera. I am confused to which I should purchase for travel video photography, DJI or GoPro. Traveling to Alaska for 3 weeks and to Egypt for 3 weeks. Want video for backup of other camers.

Thanks heaps Jordan. My DJI Osmo Action 4 arrived today and as a newbie, this video made it so easy to set up and to find my way around this camera. It would have been so much harder to have accomplished with the few brief pointers DJI offer in their little paper fold-out. And though you’re Kindle guide to this new camera on Amazon won’t be available for another 3 whole months (November 15th), I’ll buy it if for some reason I haven’t got to know my DJI OA4 by then. Thank you Jordan, great video, very informative. I have a question - I live in the UK and I would like to know if it is it possible to use the camera in a workshop under LED lighting without getting banding? Would you need to use a slow fps setting of say 24fps?
Thank you! I will have to test it out some more under LED lighting, but I have had really great results so far with very minimal banding even in low light. And, yes, the lower fps you use, the better results you will get in low light.

Glad to see GoPro has solid competition. I stopped buying GoPros and switched to DJIs. DJI give you more for your money. GoPro is with its conservative upgrading from model to model. Thank you DJI

Thank for this video Jordan, you talk at a nice pace without being fast. I have watched quite a few reviews of the Action 4 camera and they’re mostly American people and found they talk way too fast.
I recently bought this camera for POV Surfing and have had the battery die without realising during my surfs as I was recording in 4k then the same thing happened in 2.4k.
Someone recommended to me to record in 1080p to get more battery life in which I am yet to try.
Hopefully this will help me get more footage of me surfing.

My GoPro is getting a little old now and I was looking at buying a newer one as a replacement.
However I think my best course of action would probably be to go with the DJI Osmo Action 4.
I already have the DJI Mimo App that I use with the Mobile 6 gimbal for my phone and the DJI Wireless Mic system which I believe will work with the Action 4.
I'm beginning to think DJI just want all my money! 😂

Question I’m wanting to get a action camera before leaving on vacation. I will be recording at night in low lights at the Christmas markets. I am new to the whole action camera and currently don’t have one. I don’t know which one to get. Any help will be helpful. Thank for your helpful viedos

For skiing, for example, I would like to have Rocksteady and a certain degree of Horizon levelling. How do I achieve that, if it's possible?
Hi Peter, You are very welcome! If you go with Horizon Balancing, that setting will give you Rocksteady Stabilization with horizon leveling. That will work great for skiing! Have fun out there. Cheers!

Only thing I'm not clear on: Do I have to format the SD card before recording the first video (or photo)? Or format it afterward? Is it easy to find the formatting option on the settings screen?
I had a cheap dash cam once and never got it to work, I think because I couldn't get the card formatted properly.

Amazing review. One concern I have is around mounting. How secure is it with the quick adaptor...if you are mountain biking or it hits into something, how likely is it to fall off?

Superstrong. It was mounted in my chest strap...Mountain Bike on rough trails. Undestroiable.

Can you do Shutter Priority? If so, could you program it to remember settings and start recording in that mode with a single button? Thank you!
Hi, Yes, you can program Shutter Priority by selecting a Shutter Speed in the Exposure settings and selecting an ISO range. This setting can then be set as a custom setting and added to the SnapShot for one button recording. That super convenient!
Can I use an external power supply and same time recording? For a example a powerbank or direct connection with my bike
You did great tutorial. Thanks. Anyone please tell me, is this action 4 camera possible to use real estate/ architectural videography and photography? Both interior and exterior needed. Also, will it be possible to image the architectural elements in the houses without distortion?
Cool video. But i have to ask , whilst vlogging on the streets of big cities with a action 4 should is it possible to add an external mic that records front and rear. For example when i flip the camera away from me or towards me then the sound still is even. What's your thoughts? Or should i just use the built in mic and fix in post? Thank you so much as always
Thanks! I really love using the DJI Mic. It's pricey, but it plugs right into the Action 4 and the audio quality is consistent.

I'm loving this camera so far for its high quality video in 4k, which the Go3 did not have. The GO3's small size is so unique, but if you don't need that, this camera will produce much higher quality footage. The Action 4 camera is very similar in size to a GoPro. I hope that helps you!
Would you use Rock Steady or Rock Steady +? I’m confused by the difference and not sure which to use for a majority of my shots.

RockSteady+ will give you better stabilization, but it also crops in more for a tighter composition.👍

Yes, it is very frustrating for Android users since it's not on the Google Play Store. You have to download the DJI Mimo App from Dji's website. I hope that helps! Cheers!
As an Android user it was a nightmare. I was worried I couldn't register. Got a Xiaomi 8 from 2020. The apk file is huge 650mb you need at least android 8 or higher. But I think 11 is minimum. Make sure your phone permits downloading files that are not supported. You need more than 5gb storage left on your phone. Once installed the app will delete the apk file automatically.

Does the Action4 have the ability to lock the orientation to film vertically while the camera is horizontal? GoPro has this feature which is nice for those social media posts without having to mount the camera vertically.

Im a total beginner with action cams and I’m deciding which one to go with. Leaning GoPro, but im primarily concerned about an issue with overheating.
Also, just curious, how compatible are the accessories between the Action 4 and Hero 11 black?
Last question, I play racquetball and want to get good footage from a tripod. What camera settings would be best for capturing this indoor sport with such a fast small ball to track?
Was also deciding the same. I went with the DJI, so far its awesome! I think the overheating and freeze aspects are a easy sell + the magnet mount.
Hi, I don't have a comparison video yet. So sorry about that. Both cameras will overheat eventually. I would say the Action 4 is superior as far as overheating, but if you record in 4k-30 on the Hero 12, it shouldn't overheat on you.
The accessories are all really compatible since they use a similar mounting setup, but the DJI has the Quick Release Mount, if that is a feature you are into.
Both are great cameras, so I'm sure you will be happy with either one.

Hi, That is a hard call because both have their benefits. Both produce really high quality video, but the Hero 12 has higher resolution and more features. The Action 4 is really good in low light, has quick charing batteries and is a straight-forward solid camera.

About that magnetic mount. Will it only come out if you press both lateral buttons or it may fall with impact? I’m truly worried I will love another action camera while kiteboarding..
Your plastic mount will break before the magnetic mount comes off. I've already tried it unintentionally 😂. Just make sure that both sides are locked and nothing will come off.

I just got my DJI last night. When I connect the phone to the DJI, the DJI Mimo does not open automatically.
When you lower res and rotate 360* it still recorded upside down etc as it rotated?

I m from India .. want to ask 1 question..when I transfer file from dji action 4 to my phone.. single file automatically splits into 2 files..in my samsung mob (1:27 file splits into 1:02 & :25 sec files) unable to understand why it happens..
