I have one of the DJI Osmo Actions, too. It’s such a big investment that if it were me, I wouldn’t trust the fact that it’s supposed to be waterproof, but I’d get an underwater filming protective case for it. They don’t cost that much and it’s an added layer of protection.

In case of motovlogging, after connecting the external microphone that is kept inside the helmet for commenting, does the camera mic is automatically muted to avoid a wind noise recording at the same time?
Have any of you had problems with your videos being corrupted? I can't seem to use/edit 4k as it just keeps saying corrupted file. They don't recognise in my album neither when uploaded to my samsung s7+ tablet
My test, experience: this information is hardly mentioned on TH-cam. Set your OSMO Action4 to at least 1/160sec or better 1/200sec in Rock Steady mode (digital stabilizer). The stabilizer is overwhelmed with longer exposure times and you get unusable, blurry images. So you can forget about the often recommended 25/30 images with a 50/60sec exposure time with ND filter "Motion Blur" (180 degree rule) for smooth images. You almost always need digital stabilization switched on with an action cam.
@@MiguelGonzalez-je1px Congrats! You’re gonna love it. It was a huge step up for me quality wise. The extra batteries are amazing to have, i would recommend a good micro sd card, something fast because you could run into issues with slower cards.
@@AndesRide i have one more question, have you set up a mic? I had a shure that worked well but recently pooped on me, i bought the dji mic 2 but it dont fit in the helmet 😂
My experience hasn't gotten off the ground before I sent it back. I really wanted this camera, but after the five time I used it before I had to download the app. The Osmo app is not capable with my Samsung phone, so that makes it useless to me. I was on the chat with DJI support and they told me my Samsung Galaxy A13 was not capable with the Mimo app. Well I wasn't gonna buy another phone so I'm sending it back.
I looked into drones. Drones are complicated by the fact that if you’re not licensed to fly a drone, then you can really get into trouble. You can get in trouble if you fly into the wrong airspace, too, even if you have a license. You also have to register the drone with the FFA and have a flight transponder. I got a Telesin 3m Selfie Stick to simulate low flight views, instead. If you do go through the trouble of getting a drone and becoming a licensed drone pilot, you can make money doing real estate videos and stuff like that.
I use DJI action 4. Unfortunately, the camera does not expose correctly either in manual or auto mode. In auto mode the ev should compensate by + 1 minimum but instead of being at +1 it reaches -2 and I am underexposed, in manual mode I am correctly exposed but the backroand is overexposed. I understand that the sensor is not too big, but it should expose correctly, as does my phone, which has a much smaller sensor than this camera.
Since you have both the Ace Pro and the Action 4, how much of a difference would you say the 8k is in terms of image quality compared to the Action 4? I've seen some really nice 8k footage but I'm not sure how practical it would be (regarding recording latency and transfering / editing the footage). Not sure if the 8k outweighs the OA 4 cheap price and the ability to connect a usb-c directly to the OA4
Hmm hard to say, 8K is cool but not something ill use since its limited in frame rates. Biggest plus for me on the ace is free frame. But Action 4 has d-log m which i can’t live without these days!🙌
Thank you..great video. Personally I slightly prefer GP colours and FOV: but the A4 is darn close and so much easier to use and much easier to add a mic.
At around 11:10 you mention compatibility between A2 vs A3/4 camera/brackets. My experience is I can use A2 bracket on A3/4 but not vice versa...I think however thats what you meant to say :)
299usd for action 4 woow where do you live? No tax included? Here in Estonia its 329 eur, 30% difference. I did get 1, waiting for snow to melt in april to try it on motorcycle helmet.
Like all cameras, be sure to allow 30-60 minutes to adjust their lens temperature to the temperatures of the shooting area. The problem is when you have your camera inside with comfortable human temperatures, then quickly go outside and start shooting when it's very hot or cold... otherwise your lens will fog up for 30-60 minutes until it adjusts to the ambient outside temperature. I've experienced this in Giza when getting off the cruise ship and jumping into got weather as well as jumping out of the warm car at the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco on a cold 40 degree day with very damp fog.
As you will have found by now, photography isn't permitted in any of the pyramids. In fact it becoming increasingly common in lots of historical sites nowadays.
Photography is allowed in the pyramids. I've been there twice, the most recent being in June. You cannot have an external microphone - they will ask you to remove that as it suggests "commercial photography" as opposed to personal use.
I ran into the same thing in Athens in May (before I swung over to Cairo). They will make you remove your dead-cat external mic, but other then that you're fine. Once the complainer was out of sight I just put it back on.

Hello, Bought new action4 2 days back and getting blurry videos all the time ..not focusing properly...what could be the issue...could you please help me
There's one little issue I have with DJI Osmo 4 which I didn't have with my former GoPro9. When snorkeling, the background colour changes sometimes deppending on the light available at the moment, deppending on the sun orientation, it's something that didn't happen to me with the GoPro and it's a bit annoying because it ruins some footage underwater. Don't know if you get my point. What I mean is that all of a sudden the "blue" water turns "green" water deppending on the light the sensor is receiving... Any way to sort this out? Maybe by changing the colours in post edition?
How long in practice does a single battery charge last? Taking off a horse riding helmet out in the middle of nowhere(when using as a hatcam) to open up a camera and change a battery is absolutely not practical. If it only does an hour that's fairly pointless. 🤷♀️ Needs to do at least 2 or 3 hours.... and how secure is that magnetic mounting system on a helmet?
The osmo action 4 may be a great camera with spectacular features but none of that means anything if you cant download the video to either smart phone or computer. It took a day to download the mimo app and get the camera connected. It took a boat another 3 days of TH-cam research to figure out how to get through the settings and actually operate the camera only to find out that my phone will only download h264 video, so great another 2 days of TH-cam research to figure out how to set the video to record H264 mode, now great i can film and try again. Not so much, i tried and retried even a video 1 minute long i get a message saying the file is too large to download, also can't get it downloaded to desktop pc either, so now what. Some of you guys that give such high praise to this (what to me amounts to a $500 paperweight) need to point out some of these flaws, or at least discuss for newbies that they may need devices with a little more room than they currently have to be compatible with this product. Very discouraging.
Hey, just so I can understand about the transfer of the video files (H264 or H265) can't you just remove the sd memory card and insert into the laptop slot or an USB sd card reader on your PC? I use a usb card reader for the videos from the DJI Drones. I use Power director to edit and produce the final video in whatever format you choose.
This reply was a while ago. I was very discouraged that I couldn't download any videos to my phone like everyone claimed that I could. I don't care what anyone says, the videos are not going to be able to be downloaded to the phone. I did manage however to download the videos filmed in H264 mode to my 10 year old PC. I am at least happy that they could be downloaded somewhere. I am new at all this and I found out the hard way that maybe the DJI Osmo Action 4 wasn't for me but it is what it is. What i would like to do is fit my scenic motorcycle rides, download it, edit it (maybe with music playing in the background) I am now doing my research on computers for this purpose. This again is proving to be frustrating. Can anyone advise me on a computer that can handle what I want to do? You know how much RAM, processor,SSD, graphics card........etc. I am hoping to get away under $1000 but I can be somewhat flexible. Any help is greatly appreciated.
@jeffmccormack9285 PC specs required for video editing are very high if you want processing of the edited video to be completed in a reasonable amount of time. My minimum specifications would be: i7 12th gen or higher, 32gig ram, 1TB fast SSD, and the best video card you can afford with a minimum of 16gig vram. RTX4070 or higher. Case with usb A and C ports, WiFi, and Bluetooth 5 or higher. Power Director is powerful and cheap for the software. Good luck

Just got mine, this is my first ever action camera and I'm mostly gonna use it for underwater mermaid swimming videos. So excited!!!
I have one of the DJI Osmo Actions, too. It’s such a big investment that if it were me, I wouldn’t trust the fact that it’s supposed to be waterproof, but I’d get an underwater filming protective case for it. They don’t cost that much and it’s an added layer of protection.
How's the action 5 doing? I'm waiting to press the button having just sold all my GoPro stuff.
Sir, thanks for amazing videos. So useful for community.. can you tell me what you think about taking pictures with action 4.. videos, okay, thats amazing to use.. if i would use this machine for taking pictures , what do you think about quality of pictures of you compare between iphone 15 pro max vs action 4.. thanks..
Every shot you show, I assume was taken with this camera, looks fuzzy.
Was that an issue with loading, or an issue with the camera footage?
Would this be a better choice for doing golfing videos?
Im wanting to get this camera to film underwater vertical shots. How strong is the quick release magnetic? Would it be sturdy enough to film underwater?Awesome video!
Ye, no issues underwater 👍
The magnets aren't the thing that holds the camera on.
Cool! As a newbie when it comes to vlogging (moto) and editing, this camera is really beginner friendly.
@@oppenheimer11 bought a cheap usb-c mic off of a local online store (similar to eBay/amazon) here in the ph and then added a foam windscreen on it. set gain to -1 (probably gonna set it to zero or +1 to test)
Great video buddy! I have an osmo action 3. However, my footage doesn't look as crisp as yours. Can you do a tutorial on how to make your picture look vibrant as yours?
Check out my signature luts 👌
@@RobHK do they work on capcut?
How is the battery backup after months have passed?? Has it deteriorated a lot ?? Or just a little bit?
Curious been watching a ton of reviews of the action 4 … in your shot where your son is at the lake… it looks like the sides of the fisheye are blurry then when you finally stop it finally focuses in… what is causing that? @4:32
Also when you’re in the mountain top and walking past the trees it looks like a ghosting effect @5:29-5:30 is from the camera?
Thank you your review are always awsome. Question Ive given up on GoPro just traded in. I have the GoPro Volta do you thing I will be able to use with the Action4. Charging should work but it would be awesome if the remote features would work. You said you would pick the Action4 over all action cameras, why not the Insta360 Ace Pro?
Volta remote dont work with OA2
Action 4 or better buy the(cheaper) action 3 if possible?
In case of motovlogging, after connecting the external microphone that is kept inside the helmet for commenting, does the camera mic is automatically muted to avoid a wind noise recording at the same time?
Yes, same with all action cams. The moment you connect ext mic, cam switches audio input to that and turns off built in mics.
The footage looks weird when you move the camera around. Also, is there no linear mode?
Just ordered mine. Upgrading from a GP Hero 4 so it should be sweet! Looking forward to the best wireless mic setup too.
How do you like it? I just ordered mine as well and also upgrading from Hero 4
@@MiguelGonzalez-je1px No mic yet, i was looking at the dji mic 2 but i've found the camera mic to be good enough for my type of content.
I wanted the ace pro but ended with the action 4 because the no receivers and dji mic 2.
whats the background-music? at 5-9 minutes timeline
Where can I get a standing tripod for this
Can we use dji 4 with a drone?? And what drone (on a budget) would you recommend???( Need it for my u tube videos!)
1 inch sensor in the next action camera and i will buy it for sure...i record alot in the city at the night fishing...so i need bigger sensor!
Is that a duke 390 ?
I just watched on other vid how low light mode was recommend on this camera over the GoPro 12. And here the low light mode is not great…
Since you have both the Ace Pro and the Action 4, how much of a difference would you say the 8k is in terms of image quality compared to the Action 4? I've seen some really nice 8k footage but I'm not sure how practical it would be (regarding recording latency and transfering / editing the footage). Not sure if the 8k outweighs the OA 4 cheap price and the ability to connect a usb-c directly to the OA4
Hmm hard to say, 8K is cool but not something ill use since its limited in frame rates. Biggest plus for me on the ace is free frame.
But Action 4 has d-log m which i can’t live without these days!🙌
is dji4 better than ace pro?
Hi Rob,
Does the Action 4 have tracking?
And I’m considering getting the Hohem iSteady 4 gimbal. Would that work okay with the Action 4?
TIA
No tracking on any action cams except 360 cams and pocket 1/2/3
Thank you..great video. Personally I slightly prefer GP colours and FOV: but the A4 is darn close and so much easier to use and much easier to add a mic.
Wish they sold the battery n charger pack together, but separate from bundle.
Thanks mate🙌😎
thanks for the video mate
You´re welcome 😊
At around 11:10 you mention compatibility between A2 vs A3/4 camera/brackets. My experience is I can use A2 bracket on A3/4 but not vice versa...I think however thats what you meant to say :)
Ye could be 😅👍
Great video Rob, looks like a great drone...I've just ordered one today....Rob what's that's around your neck that hold the action cam?
Actually I enjoyed the video and it pushed me to buy the camera right NOW!
Thank you bro.
299usd for action 4 woow where do you live? No tax included? Here in Estonia its 329 eur, 30% difference. I did get 1, waiting for snow to melt in april to try it on motorcycle helmet.
How does the Action 4 do with humidity ? I'm planning on taking it into the Great Pyramid of Giza....and it's very humid in there.
Pretty amazing actually👍 hard to beat the 90% humidity in a tropical forest and the Action 4 performed outstanding! No need to worry about
Like all cameras, be sure to allow 30-60 minutes to adjust their lens temperature to the temperatures of the shooting area.
Can we color grade the normal profile as well? I mean as a beginner who has no idea about color grading what will you recommend? To shoot in auto profile or to shoot in normal profile. Please let me know bro ❤️
Action 4 is a better camera.(former GoPro user.)
how much did DJI paid you? nice review. i wanted to know if you are endorsed by DJI
Nothing 🙂
I just wondering if you can help me with my issue about my action 4, I did find out that Back here in Tasmania Australia 🇦🇺 viewing all my files from camera to phone is not working here, but when I was in Japan 🇯🇵 Perth Australia 🇦🇺 and Melbourne I never have a problem to open my files from camera to mobile phone, but coming back to Tasmania Australia 🇦🇺 i can’t really open files to camera to mobile phone,
Hi Zan. Just wondering if that has been an ongoing problem or just a recent one?

@@RobHK no but I’m thinking about it
What phone did you use to activate your camera?..I just can't find a phone that would run their mimo app...
Iphone 🤷
We can't connect two dji mics wirelessly unlike Pocket 3 unfortunately.
Can you charge the camera while in use with a powerbank?
yes, you can even use it without a battery when connected to a power bank
Hello,
Bought new action4 2 days back and getting blurry videos all the time ..not focusing properly...what could be the issue...could you please help me
Hi. What setting are you using? Also what are you trying to record?
does it have face priority auto exposure like GoPros?
There's one little issue I have with DJI Osmo 4 which I didn't have with my former GoPro9. When snorkeling, the background colour changes sometimes deppending on the light available at the moment, deppending on the sun orientation, it's something that didn't happen to me with the GoPro and it's a bit annoying because it ruins some footage underwater. Don't know if you get my point. What I mean is that all of a sudden the "blue" water turns "green" water deppending on the light the sensor is receiving... Any way to sort this out? Maybe by changing the colours in post edition?
You can set a custom whitebalance to avoid the cam automatically adjusting, this will save you alot of time in post
@@Moritz-qz7xv so true, I already tried and indeed it works much much better, thanks!
I have a conference to buy gopro 11 or action 4, help me outs guys with your suggestions ❤
The selfie stick thats included in adventure combo, can i use it while swimming?
Ye sure. 👍 i do it all the time. Just make sure to rinse it with water if you take it in the ocean so it doesn’t rust off
@@RobHK ok. Thanks so much!
Good luck
