    Hey I’m in process of this and I just got the starter off how do you wiggle your way to get the torque converter bolts off from flywheel there’s not much space and I can’t see where I need to get the bolts off from……. Nvm it’s a big rubber piece that comes out to get to the torque converter flywheel bolts

    Just found metal shavings in the pan once i drained the transmission fluid, thinking of just selling the car to the junkyard.. cost too much to replace

    So is this transmission able to be pulled without dropping subframe? I'm in the process of this job right now.

    • @275stratos
      @275stratos  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes you can leave that back subframe in . Will need a engine support bar

    • @MythicPartsCentral
      @MythicPartsCentral ปีที่แล้ว

      @@275stratos I've got the support bar. So leave back subframe in, its being lowered from the bottom yet I assume? Sorry for the questions just wanna make sure I've got the details right.

    • @275stratos
      @275stratos  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes that is correct . You will have to twist the transmission to get it out . Removing that subframe would make it really easy but it’s more work.

    Does the FWD CD4E have the port to attach a PTU unit and convert to 4WD as a project?? Or is it sealed and the housing is different from the 4WD CD4E? I have tried to look this up online and have gotten mixed answers.

      Do you have the fwd transmission now. If so look at the side see if it has the treaded bolt hole for the ptu to bolt . I’m not sure if what you want to do will work I think the seal for the fwd axle shaft is different then What the seal for a ptu used.

    • @275stratos
      @275stratos  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I really don’t see much difference in the cases It might bolt up and work you would definitely have to change the pass side axle shaft with the one for awd

      @@275stratos Thx for replaying!! I recently got a FWD 2.3l and the previous owner never changed the fluid in 150k miles. Its starting to slip and knowing I have to remove the tranny soon makes me want to take on a little project and install the 4x4 system out of an older 2000-2004 escape. I cant find much info on it though.
