For those who don’t know. The infinite warfare trailer is so hated because after two years of futuristic call of duty games with jet packs and laser guns, the fans were begging for the developers to go back to “boots on the ground” gameplay in a modern shooter. Instead they went even further into the future and set the game in space. They also forced people to buy a special edition to get the remaster to Cod 4 which wasn’t available separately. So people dislike bombed the shit out of it

It's sad, I've tried it out and it has some really cool concepts going for it, at least for a mobile game. But ehhh, the grind. I just KNOW that there's some poor souls working on this game who truly want to make a cool rpg inspired squad builder experience that you can play on the phone, but it's just not meant to be man...
I love how Jon called his mother for help with the Russian alphabet, got yelled at on film, had to apologise and tell his mother he loved her and ended the call... and learned absolutely nothing about the Russian alphabet. In terms of productivity, that call was an absolute loss, but in terms of entertainment it was the best part of the video.

So, technically any game you have a hard copy of you can legally own a rom of. Youre right, Nintendo can do whatever but pursuing legal action against people downloading 20 year old games is a terrible way to treat your fanbase.

A few of these might be a bit confusing, so here's some context: - The Nintendo switch direct was community backlash. - Infinite warfare was also community backlash to a certain extent. The public at large was really starting to dislike the trend of call of duty ruling the roost in terms of gaming iconography and sales. Basically infinite warfare was the tipping point where the dislike for the game reached a boiling point. - The Bollywood movie thing was basically a protest. (I won't go into it further) - The children's videos getting a weirdly high ammount of dislikes is partially because they're basically exploitative algorithm generated videos that deserve the ire, but also just because babies watching them faceroll the keyboard/screen and randomly dislike it. TH-cam rewind was a meme of course, and Felix's video was self explanatory.

If parents are sticking their kids on TH-cam and not monitoring what they're watching, their kids will end up watching fucked up shit eventually. The fact that TH-cam removed dislikes because of “harassment” but then state that the owner of the video could still see the dislikes privately makes it abundantly clear that it was removed for reasons that weren’t that.
Not really. They let the creator know because it’s relevant information for feedback from your actual audience but removed it publicly so that people will be less incentivized to go mass dislike certain videos. They definitely did remove it because of harassment or dislike bombing imo. If not for that reason then why do you think they did?

Especially for videos that are meant to educate people or help people learn things If a video is spreading false information and the Dislikes are taken away people might waste there time or end up hurting themselves or others because of this false information

On that subject though I’ll just say that using public dislikes to help verify whether or not something you’ve heard in a TH-cam video is credible isn’t a very good strategy, and it’s not like there was any lack of misinformation on here before the removal of the dislike button. I also seriously doubt that the removal of public dislikes will result in people “hurting themselves or others”.

So Dislikes are very useful and hiding them doesn't do anything but make things worse If individuals didn't want to get their video disliked then they simply could have just turned it off. There's an aspect to the dislike removal that's gone a little unnoticed: Kids. TH-cam's supposedly so hell-bent on protecting children or whatever, but if you've watched cocomelon and similar content, you'll notice there's some really weird shit out there. Usually you can filter it out via the dislikes, but now you just gotta Trial and error and attempt to explain to your toddler why their ever so prized TV time was shortened, or subject your kid to a terrifying video. I'm a kindergarten teacher and I use Cocomelon ALOT. I can assure you there is nothing weird there. Idk about other kids channel but Cocomelon is safe.

The reason that CoD: Infinite Warfare was so heavily disliked is because at the time, people felt that the market for future-based first-person shooters was becoming oversaturated. Literally everyone was copying eachother's idea to bring things further and further into the future. Battlefield 1's trailer depicted a return to a historic setting, but even more so it introduced a setting to the FPS market that was very overlooked in most modern games, World War I. When the trailer for Infinite Warfare released around the same time, though, people bashed CoD developers for being tone-deaf to the audience's constant requests for the next game in the franchise to be in a historic setting like World at War or some of the earlier CoD titles, and the game was massively boycotted in release. It's not a bad game, not at all. But it was released at the worst possible time.
Great explanation. I loved the game, but never understood the hate it got; my assumption was simply that fans assumed it would bring nothing new to the table (like most CoD games, to be fair). It also explains why sledgehammer immediately went and made WW2 after.
Jokes aside (harassment, right), the change really pisses me off b/c when I need to make a repair, learn a new skill, etc, I now have no idea whether the advice is legitimate or not. The dislike count made it really easy to skim past videos where the people didn't know what they were talking about and gave bad instruction. Yes, generally if something is incorrect, it will be pointed out in the comments, but that's a mixed bag most of the time and takes significantly longer to sift through. I wish they'd just bring back the old rating system.

I didn’t really use TH-cam back when the rating system was still around, so I don’t have much besides other people’s accounts to go off of, but wasn’t the change from the rating system to the like/dislike system back in the day because of most people just rating most videos either 1 or 5 stars? At least that’s what I’ve heard about the reason. If so, that change sounds like it sorta made sense, the removal of public dislikes is still awful though.
The stupid thing about this whole thing, is that they dont want their creators to feel harrased by the amount of dislikes on their video. But THEY CAN STILL SEE THE DISLIKES on their feed, so what is the point? The only thing that has changed is that WE cant see it anymore. The game itself though was really good, the campaign was actually phenomenal and the best cod campaign since bo1 hands down. Did it’s own thing and did it extremely well, the space missions are so much fun to play and flying is so much fun.

A few of these might be a bit confusing, so here's some context:
- The Nintendo switch direct was community backlash.
- Infinite warfare was also community backlash to a certain extent. The public at large was really starting to dislike the trend of call of duty ruling the roost in terms of gaming iconography and sales. Basically infinite warfare was the tipping point where the dislike for the game reached a boiling point.
- The Bollywood movie thing was basically a protest. (I won't go into it further)
- The children's videos getting a weirdly high ammount of dislikes is partially because they're basically exploitative algorithm generated videos that deserve the ire, but also just because babies watching them faceroll the keyboard/screen and randomly dislike it.
TH-cam rewind was a meme of course, and Felix's video was self explanatory.

They let the creator know because it’s relevant information for feedback from your actual audience but removed it publicly so that people will be less incentivized to go mass dislike certain videos. They definitely did remove it because of harassment or dislike bombing imo. If not for that reason then why do you think they did?

There's an aspect to the dislike removal that's gone a little unnoticed: Kids. TH-cam's supposedly so hell-bent on protecting children or whatever, but if you've watched cocomelon and similar content, you'll notice there's some really weird shit out there. Usually you can filter it out via the dislikes, but now you just gotta Trial and error and attempt to explain to your toddler why their ever so prized TV time was shortened, or subject your kid to a terrifying video. The reason that CoD: Infinite Warfare was so heavily disliked is because at the time, people felt that the market for future-based first-person shooters was becoming oversaturated. Literally everyone was copying eachother's idea to bring things further and further into the future.
Battlefield 1's trailer depicted a return to a historic setting, but even more so it introduced a setting to the FPS market that was very overlooked in most modern games, World War I.
When the trailer for Infinite Warfare released around the same time, though, people bashed CoD developers for being tone-deaf to the audience's constant requests for the next game in the franchise to be in a historic setting like World at War or some of the earlier CoD titles, and the game was massively boycotted in release.
It's not a bad game, not at all. But it was released at the worst possible time.

Jokes aside (harassment, right), the change really pisses me off b/c when I need to make a repair, learn a new skill, etc, I now have no idea whether the advice is legitimate or not. The dislike count made it really easy to skim past videos where the people didn't know what they were talking about and gave bad instruction. Yes, generally if something is incorrect, it will be pointed out in the comments, but that's a mixed bag most of the time and takes significantly longer to sift through.
I wish they'd just bring back the old rating system.
Dislike count is not always a good indicator of how good repair advice is. I've seen pretty bad repair videos with no big dislike counts.

I didn’t really use TH-cam back when the rating system was still around, so I don’t have much besides other people’s accounts to go off of, but wasn’t the change from the rating system to the like/dislike system back in the day because of most people just rating most videos either 1 or 5 stars? At least that’s what I’ve heard about the reason. If so, that change sounds like it sorta made sense, the removal of public dislikes is still awful though.

Most content creators make a joke out of it now. There's this GTA5 TH-camr called DarkViperAU who absolutely loathes Red Red Redemption 2 and he got sponsored by Raid once. In his pitch he said "it's better than RDR2". I'm sure there are more examples but yeah, most people caught up with the meme.

If I remember correctly, the reason Infinite warfare was disliked was because the community was tired of futuristic call of duty titles. I think this was the 3rd futuristic shooter in a row and people were over that theme.
Also the trailer itself is really boring and planes clip through buildings

The game itself though was really good, the campaign was actually phenomenal and the best cod campaign since bo1 hands down. Did it’s own thing and did it extremely well, the space missions are so much fun to play and flying is so much fun.

I love how absolutely not a single soul on this platform believes youtube's reason for removing the dislike counter. Humans are great at picking up bullshit, it's a offense to assume everyone is an idiot and wouldn't realize that the reason they actually removed it is because of their sponsors and money bringers told them to do this. They didn't think of the repercussions of doing it, the dislike is used to inform the general public of the validity of a video in more ways than one.
