Absolutely. Yeah unfortunately it’s a no go for me. I close the keyboard too much to be able to use this. Last iPad it worked perfectly fine so I had high hopes for this one.
I just ordered both of these and Pitaka must have changed the Mag EZ Case 2 because my Magic Keyboard is sitting completely closed with the case on the iPad
I purchased the MagEZ 2 a week ago, and it came with a strap that wraps around the iPad while using the MagEZ 2 with the Magic Keyboard. This must be Pitaka's answer to the flaw. There was no mention of this in the instructions, so I think this was just a way to help keep the Magic Keyboard closed so it doesn't drain the battery. That being said I tested with a couple different screen protectors and having the screen protectors on the iPad made it much worse. My iPad Pro 13" is closing just fine with the MagEZ 2 without a screen protector as long as it is laying flat. The other issue I found is that I didn't have the case seated fully on the iPad which helped it close. If you put it in a backpack there is definitely a risk of it staying open and draining the battery which is where the strap will help.
Thank you for commenting on this. I was justlooking For Reddit threads about if they fixed it or not, I’m leaning more towards the “No” side of things. I have their phone case that’s part of the reason I wanted to go for the same brand
I had the original iteration of the Pitaka non-MagEZ case for my 2018 iPad Pro 12.9" and have the MagEZ 2 case for my 13" M4 iPad Pro.As a mechanical engineer the problem is not just the Apple Magic keyboard not closing with the MagEZ 2 case installed. The problem that I have experienced with my two iterations is with the curved corner edges that are susceptible to breaking easily when removing the iPad Pro from the case. There are tensile forces on the outside of the curve and compressive forces on the inside of the curve, that cause fragility within the piece of plastic. If you do not remove the iPad from the case frequently and also placed the iPad Pro in a protective sleeve as I do,then the rise of the case breaking is reduced.
I used to use a Pitaka case for my iPad Pro M1 till it started cracking and falling apart along the plastic sides. Didn’t have any issues with it closing though. I currently just use a DBrand skin cuz my iPad doesn’t really go anywhere often. I do wish there were more options for Magic Keyboard compatible cases. There’s barely any other decent ones. I feel like Benks, ESR or Spigen would make a good one at a decent price.
That's a good idea. I might just put a dbrand skin on the back of my iPad instead of the MagEZ case. I loved it for my old iPad and had no issues, but with this one, it gives me this huge issue.
@@Brians_tech becuse with my ipad when I wear the pitaka ezmag2 case the glass tends to lift on the two corners above forming bubbles does it happen to you too with other brand glass?
I have heard from Pitaka that they are working on it / updating and that this issue is going to be solved. I hope so. I will order a new batch once they are available again to see if something changed. I really like this case. It is great quality and very flexible with the other accessoires Pitaka is offering but this is definitely a big issue.
Thankfully I don't have a real need for the magic keyboard, I just use the cases (shell and folio). If I really need a keyboard, I just use my magic keyboard (mini w/ tough ID).
Yea. I would have gotten the pitaka case for the Magic Keyboard but this was the reason not. I took the Magic Keyboard back for the Logitech. So much better and protection Don’t know why Apple didn’t design magnetic protection with the Magic Keyboard
Mine closes. When I set it down there’s enough weight and gravity to close it the rest of the way. Sucks if you put it in a bag and it’s vulnerable to this flaw
i understand this review is for iPad Pro 13" (M4). but how about iPad Air 11" (M2)? does it fit into the MagEZ Case 2 while being 1mm thicker than the iPad Pro?
I have the 11” m4 I use the MAGEASY Cover buddy. Closes fine and it also comes with an Apple Pencil holder. I have used the pitaka one in the past and I actually like this one a lot better.
@ So actually had them both but ended up returning both not because it didn’t close properly but because I have a skin on my Apple Pencil and it was not easy to get the pencil out of the holder on either of them.
Not sure if you’ve heard of others with the same issue but i have the 11” pro with a screen protector and this case and my Magic Keyboard closes just fine and the screen turns off. I wonder if maybe it’s just a one off or possibly only affects the 13” iPads?
Dang, this is a real disappointment. I’ve seen this on multiple reviews on this case. I was really waiting for this one since I did not see an issue with the last generation. Definitely will not be picking up if it will not close with the keyboard. Appreciate the review and honesty!
I was just about to place my order , but I thought to check up first if there’re any reviews… and THANK GOODNESS I saw this !
Thank you for this vid

Same issue… I also assumed that’s what the strap/pencil holder is for… trying to decide whether or not this is something I cal live with…
Rock Chalk!!
did you happen to find one case where it protects all sides? we would love a review on that! thanks!
Not one for the Magic Keyboard to work with
Thanks for this. I was about to buy this item for my ipad pro. Tnx so much
Thanks for sharing. Almost fall into trap.

My 11" closes with case and Magic Keyboard.... didn't know it was an issue on 13"

FLOLAB

Just sucks they won’t make it for iPad Air :(
Do they issue replacement item or a compensation for this fault? This is definitely a big deal

do you have a tempered glass installed and still worked with the magic keyboard?
I do not have a tempered glass screen protector, but I do have a paper like screen protector.
Is it the Lite one or the one with Graphene?

why are they saying its 'compatible' with the ipad pro if it clearly doesnt close
I want a white colour for my ipad pro. But they said they have no plans in doing other colour only selling in black and gold
Long shot but would you be able to test closing the Magic Keyboard with the case without the glass screen protector?
I have tried it without the glass screen protector and the result is the same. The screen protector isn't the issue, the magez is.

It really is. I was waiting so long for it and then it finally came in and I had this issue.
I went with the Spigen Enzo Aramid, perfect fit, and it works with the magic keyboard and a screen protector.
do you have a tempered glass installed and it still closed properly in the magic keyboard?
@DonelleJayQuilates yeah it closes just fine with a tempered glass screen protector
I just bought 13 inch M4 iPad pro. I hope your iPad is also iPad Pro 13 inch M4. By the way, May I know the exact Screen Protector you are using ?
@@procoding_ninja I went with the zagg glass xtr3
