    I always loved the Starkiller angle, how he was kinda the seed of the rebel alliance and it was basically because of him it all started, and I'm sad his story is no longer canon.

      I feel the same way, that force unleashed story of how the rebel alliance was founded because of Galen Marek aka Starkiller was very interesting!

    What would be amazing would be to see the Rebels use old separatist capital ships and reprogram droids to fight for them. it would be awesome.

      Actually the Rebels probably did at many engagements as they used whatever ships they could weld armour and weapons on and some extra shields perhaps in their fight against the Empire.
      They even stole ships from the empire like the Nebulon-B frigate.

    The Rebel Alliance reminds me of America during the Revolutionary War, and the French Maquis from World War II; while the Empire reminds me of the British Empire, and Nazi Germany during World War II.

    • @bobmilaplace3816

      +Larry-three “Larry-3” I think the Rebel Alliance is closer to ISIS down to having a high command lead by religious people, with Sector forces being closer to their other Islamic allies around the world. I guess the Mon Calamari is Turkey.
      Just like the Rebel Alliance many ISIS vehicles are non military design. And seek to return the world to an older Order(The Caliphates and the Old Republic) With Gharm Iblis like Al Qaeda and just like ISIS a superpower help create them unwittingly.
      The Empire I agree reminds me of a mishmash of the British and Nazis.

    • @larry-three8225
      @larry-three8225 9 ปีที่แล้ว +35

      Bob MiLaplace The Rebel Alliance is nothing like ISIS. ISIS targets many religious people; while the Alliance favors freedom -- that includes religious freedom. They also do not send their soldiers to bomb civilians. If anything the Rebel Alliance only prioritizes Imperial targets and goes out of their way to help civilians. From what I read in the E.U., the Empire seemed more closer to terrorist.

    • @bobmilaplace3816
      @bobmilaplace3816 9 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Larry-three
      No not my tactics only by administration purposes, ISIS and the Rebellion are ideologically divergent but they use similar tactics.
      The Rebellion is more principled on their targets and assassinations.

      Guerrilla fighters are NOT the same as Terrorists. A Terrorist works to indiscriminately instill fear or Terror in the general populace a sew panic and over reaction in the government they are attacking. Guerrilla fighters attack only military or otherwise priority targets, but ONLY those targets of value to the overall mission.

    If you throw in the story from the PC game Tie Fighter, the Empire had more issues than just the Rebels. Admiral Zaarin tried to throw a coup, nearly captured the Emperor himself, and though he did not have biggest fleet, his fleet did pull a great deal of resources from the Empire to engage him. Zaarin did not ally with the Rebels, but both of them used each other.

    Basically, the Rebel Alliance went through two phases in the early years of the Galactic Civil War:
    The first phase is basically hit-and-run, mostly since the Rebels were outgunned by the superior numbers of the Imperial war machine, and popular support was at an all-time low. The Battle of Yavin ended that phase with the destruction of the Death Star.
    The second phase is open war, because with the Death Star destroyed, the Rebels were free to take on the Imperials at any time they please. Even the loss of their main bases on Yavin IV and Hoth did not slow them down. This continued into the era of the New Republic.

    • @gibbs615

      +The Jim Reaper™ Sadly, you are right, sort of. There was degrees of canon. George Lucas's canon on top, television series (The Clone Wars) canon next, and then the book and games. However, only the general story of the games was canon and the actual gameplay mechanics less so. That's the official stand anyways. In my experience some of the specific things happening in the games were glossed over as well.

This team, later with lando and then their families were pivital turning the odds many times at late, unretrievable times, eg the first death star. This small team did lots in encouraging and giving others the belief that they caould succeed and make a difference

    Rebel alliance at 4 ABY vs the covenant, jedi are allowed. I personally vote for the rebel alliance because SW has energy based weapons on every ship which would whittle away the energy shields of covenant ships. If they can destroy two death stars, they can find a way to kill the long night of solace or high charity.

    • @dylangraham1503
      @dylangraham1503 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +ManofChrist101 It would depend on what ship they attack or if they can get through the shields.

    • @Clumsy-vp3if
      @Clumsy-vp3if 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +ManofChrist101 High Charity is larger than the Death Star. Also, although the Rebel ships would be could against Covenant shields, the Covenant ships have glassig canons that could melt right through the Rebels, and their fighters have much stronger shields.

    • @dylangraham1503
      @dylangraham1503 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Clumsy0015 For the covenant to use the glassing cannon they would have to drop their shields.

    • @ManofChrist101
      @ManofChrist101 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Clumsy0015 Glassing cannons only work from underneath, the rebel ships (even the small ones) are more agile and have hyperdrives. They could outflank the covenant cruisers and bomb them from above.

    • @dylangraham1503
      @dylangraham1503 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      ManofChrist101 The covenant have superior engines that make them faster it won't matter if the rebels have a hyperdrive if their outmatched in speed.

    Are you going to do a video about the Battle of Jakku?
    Taking place 1 year and 4 days after the Battle of Endor, it was the largest battle since that one. When the Battle of Jakku ended, the Imperial Navy's back was broken with heavy losses among ships and starfighters. It was a resounding victory for the New Republic, so much so, that months later, combat had become few and far between with rumors abounding of a Complete Imperial Surrender around the corner.

      +rocco johnson Starkiller was too powerful, Vader kills hundreds of Jedi Masters but Anakin 2.0 comes along pulling Star Destroyers out of the sky and besting Vader and almost the Emperor in a duel, the same Emperor that Lucas said was the strongest force user in the galaxy.

    • @geraldtarrant3656

      +Wotzitify lets be honest here Luke got his azz handed to him. If it wasn't for the fact he was Vader's son, He would have been dead. He convinced his father(Vader) to save him which he did. Also remember the emperor made Vader's suit faulty in purpose so Vader couldn't take him head on. Now with Star Wars EU eventually Luke did become the strongest Jedi, but mostly because there was anybody around for a long time. There were others but they were gathering their strength just like Luke was. Remember Luke didn't win, Vader saved his kid. lol

    @Nighthawke70 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Its not how powerful they were, it was how well organized they was. The military arm was pretty good, but it was very flexible in both strategic and tactical situations. They KNEW that early on they would be trashed going nose to nose with the imperial fleets. They stuck with hit and run tactics, biding time and getting more worlds to join the Alliance. This level of organization upset Palpatine badly and ordered Vader to sortie his squadron and hunt them down. This was dated 6 months before the holding action at Hoth. They could afford to lose either planetary bases or the fleet, but not both.

  • @xShadow045x
    @xShadow045x 8 ปีที่แล้ว +8

    I don't know who to support anymore. Both sides have valid claims to good. The Alliance fights for freedom, but the Empire tries to maintain peace. My problem with the Empire is their utter disregard for life. Maybe if the Empire didn't have a power-hungry, truly evil Sith for a leader, I would hold a different opinion...

    • @xShadow045x
      @xShadow045x 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      To add, I can't support the horrid crimes committed by the Republic. Which makes it hard to support the Alliance as they want to restore it.

    • @Erikaaaaaaaaaaaaa
      @Erikaaaaaaaaaaaaa 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      What disregard for life?
      Alderaan?
      Alderaan was sending troops and ships to the rebellion. The Empire was wholly justified in defending themselves.
      The Empire has done bad things, but as you are hopefully aware, the Republic has killed *far* more people.
      I did the math, and on average, the Republic kills more people *each hour* than the Empire does *in 20,000 years*

    • @Erikaaaaaaaaaaaaa
      @Erikaaaaaaaaaaaaa 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      xShadow045x So your brilliant plan is to topple a stable government and replace it with nothing?
      Ask Iraq how that turned out.
      You can't just destroy things, you need to replace them with somethings.
      This is the thing I don't get with the Rebels. You can't solve problems by just blowing up Imperials. Some day, the Rebels will loose their scapegoat and people will realize how horrible the system they want to implement truly is.
      Supporting the Rebel alliance but not their end goal is like supporting the neo-nazis but hating Hitler.

      3:44 -- The Alliance made frequent, possibly _excessive_ use of suicide attacks and terrorism in order to defeat the Empire. Watch Rogue One now that its out and you'll see what I mean. Hell, watch season 3 of the Star Wars Rebels cartoon.
      The Rebels fought dirty because they felt they *had to* to win. They went pretty much the *entire war* without a decisive victory except for Scarif, Yavin and Endor. Their primary operations were sabotage, lightning raids and hit and run attacks.
      Their *motivation* may have been political rather than religious, but their *tactics* had a frightening amount in common with modern-day terrorist networks.
