You almost wonder sometimes with Vader, especially with incidents like this one landing on Mustafar. He just doesn't actually care whether he dies, and probably on some level would not mind if he did die.
I feel like his thoughts here were "I can't bring myself to destroy this ship, but I need it to look different. If I burn it in the atmosphere, it will change the ship, and maybe kill me. If I die, that is the will of the force."

After playing the Vader immortal games, I love how Vader took Palpatine seriously.

I love that when Palpatine explains how great the architect is he mentions that she removed all traces of the Jedi like she sprayed for bugs or something.

Why are all the planets in Star Wars one biome? Earth has all those different things but SW there’s a lava planet or a desert planet, etc.? Is there an explanation or is it just simple creating the planets?
A planet of volcanoes is the most believable. Look at Venus

Most planets are one biome. Look at every planet in our solar system. Mercury is a rock planet, Jupiter is a storm planet, pluto is an ice planet, Mars is a desert planet, venus is a toxic planet.... Earth is the only planet in our solar system that has unique biomes. Earth is extremely unique in that regard.
What I love about this is again Sidious manipulating the situation, he knew all along why Vader wanted to go there and he sent him with the mask and two naturally curious officers. One way or the other, the mask would be worn, by whom it did not matter, but it would lead to the construction of something that Sidious himself would find interesting. Its a typical play for him to, he uses Vader to achieve his goals like any master but in such a way that Vader believes it is merely guidance or accident.
The greatest trick ever is to get people to do your bidding but think it was their plan all along.

There is a great video on TH-cam where 2 scientists go over all the movies shown in the films and talk about wether they could actually exist or not. From what I remember all the temperate climate and desert planets yes I think. Not totally sure. And the water planets maybe probably not possible.

That line about Vader's power being Sidious's power reminds of of Kriea's (probably misspelled that) lesson on relying on your own power rather than another's.
If it was the old EU, Anakin/Vader would absolutely hate revisiting that hell hole of a planet due to the pain and suffering he'd endured on there and he would deny the chance for the fortress to be built there because of this and his personal thoughts about the place after what had happened to him and the mistakes he made(another example was after ANH where he had been ordered to go to Jabbim but didn't want to be confronted by an old mistake I'm as of yet unaware of), in the new canon however he would accept this and perhaps even enjoy staying on the planet as it gives him power and because he sees his past as a constant fuel of power rather than in legends where he doesn't like his past all too much and is often times even nostalgic of the good parts of it, I don't think the writers of this new comic would make him nostalgic though we'll just have to wait and see.
His hate for this place is why he wants it there. Hate gives him strength.
@@MnJiman the whole point legends was making was to make his return to the light believable. He never trully adhered to sith filosophy and only acted as an enforcer... until luke.
The pain and regret he feels on mustafar fuels his power in the dark side.
After all it was there where his transition to Vader was finished but it was also the place where Anakin went to die.
i dont know, it was a fact that darth vader had a castle on musatafar as early as the video game Jedi Academy(2003) where one of the stages take place there
although holding a high deal of respect for Vader Kylo Ren will never do what Vader has achieved over the years in the old Galactic Empire.
Patrick wentzell _ well kylo ren did 2 things vader didn't. He confirmed palpatine dead, and he brought the woman he "loved" back to life. Also, he did "finish what vader started".
