And here, we go into more depth of the agreement. Commander Big Bird: Ah, Admiral Einstein, I’ve read all your studies. I’m very impressed. Admiral Einstein: And weren’t you the one who flew around and landed on my head back in primary? That’s why I fought against you. Commander Big Bird: Ummm... Yeah, about that... The troopers in the background: Interesting conversation. Hey, have you seen the new Mandalorian trailer?
Legends makes more sense. 15 years sounds like a more realistic length of time for a galaxy wide Empire to collapse. I mean, Canon states 1 year?! Look at Libya, that's just one small country and that place has been messed up for years. A galaxy would take far longer to reorganize than 1 year.
It didn't really end shortly after the Battle of Jakku. There were still rogue Imperial remnants throughout the galaxy even after the surrender of the Empire.
And that Legends the gempire surrenders and managed of keeping a few star destroyers AND super star destroyers in the new republic fleet in the Yuuzhan Vong War, and then Galactic Alliances and canon the galactic empire surrender after they lost the battle of jakku with the very few ships left in the remaining fleet and lost it all. and canon Shows us how drastically the empire lost so many ships after Endor and that there 25,000 of them. and legends is very not much.
Other than the emperors clone thing, I love the old lore over new lore. 20 years is still pretty fast in a galactic scale. But 1 year and one big battle? Seriously Disney? Thats dumb.
Other solar systems and even our own planets have shorter or younger year lengths, i. So the farthest planet from the sun has the most days a year, the closest has least years. So if a species from Star Wars lives very close to the sun and only they could survive there, 15 years could be as an example of 130 days * 15 years, so about 3 years maybe. One year could be just a month in some places in the galaxy, while some could be about even 30 years depending on how far away they are from the sun and how many days extended they are ahead per year. Not slow motion or anything, just planetary rotation and positioning pretty much. 😃
My issue with what we have is...nothing mattered. First order is literally the same thing. Republic did nothing to stop them from becoming an EVEN BIGGER THREAT
The Legends version would definitely be better if it wasn't for the stupid "clone Palpatine" plot. The EU was filled with great stuff and horrible stuff at the same time.
AvatarCritic I mean if someone who was arguably the most powerful man in the galaxy had the power to clone himself after he died he would most likely do it but it was pretty stupid
***** Who's Jaden? I thought he tried to take over Anakin Solo while he was an infant. It's been over 20 years since I read the story, I didn't care for the Dark Empire storyline nor the artwork, so I didn't pick it up again after I read it.
O.G. Starwars Even in Legends the Old Republic did that and well it is a mistake... There are more galaxies out there and having a professional military force to prevent destruction is the best. Also also in canon apparently they didn't learn nothing!
The Palpatine clone I tiny bit get it why he wants to clone himself so that he can be back to his prime youth and be more powerful and also cheat death but it's kind of stupid. If it's Emperor in is Youth vs. Grand Master Skywalker. That I would be interested to see that duel.
I prefer the Legends ending of the Galactic Civil War. In Disney's Canon the Empire gave up to easily only 1 year after the Emperors death. Whereas in Legends they kept fighting until Pellaeon unified them after Thrawns death and sued for peace. Best Imperial Officer Gilad Pellaeon. He cared about his troops and people, didn't give himself over to the same infighting as other officers and kept the Imperial Remnant prosperous after the Civil War cam to an end through the Yuuzhan Vong War and the Galactic Alliance before being assassinted bu Tahiri Veila on Jacen Solo's / Darth Caedus's orders.
Nuka Scotia I agree 1 year in cannon sound u realistic there no way that the empire going to say I give up in legend 20 years sound long for a bloody war
I like the way you think. However, it doesn't seem accurate to say he kept the Imperial Remnant prosperous, as much as alive. From the information I've read, after the treaty was signed, the Empire was in state of difficulty with poverty and other hardships.
While I do agree that the legends storyline was more interesting, the empire technically didn’t “give up” per say, but rather entered into a state of hibernation to transform into the first order
In canon the battle of Jakku was essentially where Palpatine faked the Empire’s death to allow the First Order to grow without any New Republic interference. As soon as he “died” on the Deathstar, Palpatine enacted operation Cinder which, apart from destroying multiple worlds using satellites, involved the death of the Empire and birth of the First Order. That’s why it only took one year for the Empire to “give up”, because it was meant to.
How the Galactic Civil War Came to an End. Me: *looks at the thumbnail* Big Bird taught the Empire the meaning of friendship, and negotiated a peace treaty at the behest of Mon Mothma?
I like how they added good people in the empire, makes you see that it isn't completely evil. Good men like pellaen and Yularen. I'm sure there was much more considering the empire was full of human recruits.
@@dylanwilson9131the core of the imperial doctrine was that whatever they where doing was right, the said porpuse of the Empire was security, peace and prosperity witch is nice but you can see that was kept with militarization, fear and dictatorship, with some brainwashing with propaganda in the military training, the problem is not the belief or the way of life, the problem is the people within it,look at the Earth itself ,if the Empire was build by people like Pellaen would't be a war for starters
So do I. I do not understand why the could not make a Movie based on the Legends. I thought altering the story like that violated the writing terms associated with Star Wars!
The EU history honestly makes more sense. Even with the inner conflict, the Empire was HUGE controlling many planets in the inner core and the outer rim. There is no way that in a year the New republic beat the Galactic Empire with what ever military they had. Even blitz attacks could be fended off, as the Imperials were on the defensive, hunkered down in remote bases and fortifications.
Matthew Chenault Actually it's not uncommon in real life for authoritarian regimes to collapse after the death of a strongman with no clear succession, I know it's a huge part of Chinese history and parts of Latin America and the Middle East. It's not that the warlords have a problem with the Empire, it's just that they don't see why they shouldn't use their armies and fleets to give themselves empires.
Matthew Chenault also - in DisCanon (Disney canon) - after they defeated the empire the newly formed New Republic demilitarized. Which makes no sense either. This is all dues ex Machina (or how ever it’s spelled.... for the first order to take place so easily
ok me too but au thrawn still alive until being stab in the back And palpatine came back to life only to get killed again And made Jakku the last beginning of the end
I’ve thought of it myself, since I like both. So far I’ve got two ideas. The first removes all post ep 6 legends stories and any contradicting clone wars stories from legends. The second integrates legends and new canon into one universe, still removing legends clone wars stories contradicting the cartoon, and having the post ep 6 storylines happen in the 30 years between Return of the Jedi and the force awakens. Kylo in this timeline is Han and Leia’s they had to fill the void following Jacen’s death, who ultimately destroyed The new Jedi order with Luke, seeing this as his ultimate failure went into hiding. The imperial remnant eventually became the First Order after Snoke took control. Legacy is still years after and fits in no problem as a result.
Carlos D Rodriguez but in this one most of the new Jedi order is still alive and even the imperial remnant under fel sends imperials to hunt the first order And to avoid contradicting I change kylo Rens real name to ken It’s just kylo is trying to hunt and kill the first of the new to become like darth Vader and this was when Luke was banished by Daala And the Luke was trying to save one of his academies
DependableExpendable Last ditch assault wouldn't have strategic value. It was safer for the Remanent to grow stronger and attack New Republic, when the time comes, instead of wasting resources and manpower for an operation, that didn't guarantee victory
I wonder was the legend version look like when the empire make their last stand kinda like WW2 when Russia marching to Berlin wiping the Germans one by one to capture Berlin
well its more believable than "oh the empire completely fell apart with no real hold outs besides this mysterious first order which came out of nowhere"
Steven Irizarry Legends has it WTF moments. But it's realistic in it's own way. For Example: Cannon ends with a single battle. Legends ends with 15 more years too it. Not everyone likes Palpatine returning but Palpatine is the Dark Lord of the Sith. So is it out of the realm of possibility that he can return? Or is he meant to die so simply? If I where a Dark Lord, I like to come back to live too.
The legends story is far more detailed and would have provided good stuff for upcoming star wars movies. You can clearly see how the now-canon writers simply turned down this chaotic yet interesting and somehow beautiful era.
@@stevenirizarry1304 Other than the clone emperor stuff (wasn’t the worst at the time but still weird) there was still a lot of good stuff. Namely the thrawn trilogy. It also just makes a lot more sense than what happened in canon, the New Republic simply should have been able to expand that quickly. It makes far more sense that it would take years for NR to chip away at the empire and take out warlords one at a time before the war was ended.
Since you have done videos on how powerful the Imperials and Rebels were, what about a video about how powerful the yuuzhan vong where? I find it sad how neglected the yuuzhan vong are by star wars fans.
Yuuzhan Vong would be out of place atm, in my opinion, One of their significant traits is counter-jedi/force tools, but we only have a handful of force sensitives in the universe at this time. Once the movies are at the point where Jedi are growing in number, then the threat of the Yuuzhan Vong can be more fleshed out.
Some Guy on TH-cam the Yuzong Vong was one of the dumbest stories from legends. 19 books or so for the new Jedi series too many books. I really hope Thrawn makes it out of Star Wars rebels and we see him in an anthology movie or something of that ilk he is the best thing to come from legends
I really like the Legends civil war, it makes a lot more sense that the Rebellion had a hard time to organize into the New Republic and that not all of the Galaxy would be taken over by them, Empires don't usually fall completely in a very short period of time.
So in Disney version, The Rebel Fleet which was wayyyy smaller during Endor, managed in 6 months not only to rival but beat The Imperial fleet in Jakku. That's so bullshit. The Imperial fleet is the largest and strongest in the entire Star Wars universe in BOTH timelines. The Rebel fleet can't even match it's size let alone it's firepower. Hell even the Separatist and Republic fleets combined pale in comparasson to the Imperial Navy. The EU version is superior. As expected of course.
Both endings are good, but the legends one makes a lot more sense. Even without clear succession, it's very unlikely the Empire would crumble in a year. It makes far more sense for someone like Thrawn (a high ranking and capable leader) to seize control and unify the empire, especially against a common threat like the New republic. It also makes sense that an imperial officer would make peace with the New Republic after it became clear that victory was impossible (not to mention losing an two incredibly capable leaders: Thrawn and Sideous for the second time). Without the influence of the Sith, The Empire is left with military officials who are interested preservation of their nation. Combine that with The New Republic being weary of war and you have conditions that will likely lead to a peace treaty. The canon ending is highly questionable, but it makes sense given some context. I could see the more fanatical elements of the empire giving up their more moderate comrades and core worlds as sacrificial lambs. Meanwhile the most devoted imperials fled to the unknown systems to rebuild a new order that would ultimately crush the New Republic.
I like the Legends version myself. Unless the Emperor had some clear line-of-Imperial-succession policy in the event of his death, seems civil war in the Empire would be inevitable. Hell even if the Emperor had such a policy, I doubt it would stop a civil war.
See how the books are way better than Disney's 'New Trilogy' . The Legends ending was much better and Admiral Thrawn was an amazing emperor compared to 'emperor Snoke of the first order'.
Thrawn is a man and two thirds! I think Rebels has been doing a pretty good job of depicting him but he's introduced pretty early on compared to his arrival in Legends. I can only hope the series continues to do him justice.
I wish new cannon made it a little longer... not as long as legends of course but, like in real life, massive empires don't just collapse a few months after their leadership falls. They splinter, hold ground. Lose ground, re-gain ground, etc. Also, while I like the idea that systems could peacefully choose between Empire and republic. Though, I'm sure in practicality it wouldn't be so... simple.
I think is because of operation cinder, the final order that palpatine gave in case of his death that was pretty much destroy key imperial worlds. so let’s say there is a planet with big factories that produces ammo and vehicles. In legends that planet factories are still up and running and giving the local imperial warlord the means to sustain himself, and other warlords and rebel alliance will try to take that world to get those factories… meanwhile in canon that whole planet was probably destroyed by operation cinder, any resource that planet could generate is gone, the warlord isn’t capable of sustaining his army and gets run over by the rebel alliance.
I really like the fact that the Empire dies with its Leader. Everything fell apart after the death of the Emperor. The same thing happened with the Nazis after the death of Hitler and that is much more realistic. I do not see the need to prolong the war so much.
@@gabrieldejesustorresrodrig9844 difference is that Hitler didn't tell the Reich to destroy themselves, only him to play cards behind the scenes, control Merkel, and return in 2020 with somehow Hitler returned with submarines with nuclear weapons
The Rebels really need to read a history book once in a while. Never in the history of mankind has leaving a massive power-vacuum ended well. The Galactic Concordance is essentially the Star Wars version of the Treaty of Versailles. Fundamentally short-sighted and was built on a desire for vengeance rather than a desire for peace.
K-2SO Same, though kinda wish Disney went along the lines of picking what was and wasn't cannon to make things easier. I mean the rest of the fall of the Empire could have fit in with the TFA?
Star Chaser Depends. One of the biggest difference between a jedi and a sith since them splitting up the jeda'ii order was that the jedi can end up being one with the force upon death while the sith can deny death. This is a trait even upholded within the new canon due to characters like Maul being a part of it
And you have the worthless poor excuse of general that Hux more a wanabee than a soldier, Daala would break his neck with a finger. And phasma probably would be her head cut by Carnor Jax in one sec. And what would be snoke chances against palpatine reborn, none.
Yes!! How Daala was in Fate of the Jedi made for a great story and possible movie. We could have got this - would fit well with mark’s age (originL three).
Virgin Canon Empire: Falls apart near instantly after Endor and dies on Jakku because Palpatine wanted them to burn for some reason. Chad Legends Empire: Fights under multiple competent leaders who choose peace to make sure the Empire they believed in survived.
Christian Montes Palpatine is a Sith. Sith like to cheat death. It's Palpatine's method of "transfer essence", which is a poor Sith representation of the Jedi's Force Ghosting. Speaking of Palpatine coming back, he, like any Sith, is power hungry and will do anything to keep it.
Brotha Gabe You know for a time their was a theory he attended to use it on either Luke or Anakin. Such a powerful body wouldn't just be resistant to his dark side but could actively make him even more powerful. The clones where a less risker way but he kept burning threw them because of how powerful he was.
I don't like canons version, I find that they have the empire collapse way to quickly. The rebels trough everything they had at the empire at endor and while they emerged victorious they too suffered massive casualties. While endor provided them with many new worlds and troops it should've takes a lot more than a year to be able to organize them into a force that could take on the empire. They lost a lot of ships and equipment at endor, that stuff should've taken months to republic let alone build new ships, weapons, and other material needed to arm the new soldiers. And even then the empire was simply to big to be beaten so quickly. While a lot of ships and many of its leaders were lost at endor they still had unending legions of troops and ships to fight the NR. I think five years would've been a more believable time table for the war to end in canon.
Legends definetly has a lot more explaination, but I don't really like that it lasted 15 more years + cloned people. It seems cheap when you can bring back dead people by saying that they have been cloned. Sounds more reasonable when they state it only lasted one more year.
Dragonball Anime Fan I like legends more, it is MUCH more realistic. A galactic wide conflict doesn't just end like that in a year's time, especially considering how big the empire was
Yeah,15 years is really way to long and cloned Palpatine is BS.I also didn´t know what hapened to the Empire in Legends before this video, yet I really like how the Empire and New Replubic lived in peace from then on.If I would have choosen when the War ended, it would have been 3-5 years after Eps.6.Yet Canon is also really good and more logical with an epic last battle and the retreetment of the Empire in the unknown Regions and yet to see detailed transformation into a more competitiv but more lower-budget orginasation.
+Lucas Aubin In a universe filled with space wizards and laser swords, I don't think realism is a reasonable answer too prefer one thing over another, but too each his own.
*My main problem with the canon version*: 1 year and a bit? Like seriously J.J Abrams what the hell, *one year or so* to end the insanely massive Galactic Empire post-Endor? Nerfed to the hilt. *Jakku ex machina* #Empirediddunuffin *My main problem with the legends version*: Unfitting end to Thrawn. #Thrawndeservedbetter #fuckhashtags
He could still have pushed for his vision of the story more, if you get me. I appreciate what you're saying, don't get me wrong. I'm just joking anyway. I ought to have said Lucasfilm but tbh the director could draw a line in the sand and say no, no, this doesn't make sense.
Abrams was the one to lay the founding stones of the new Post-Rotj canon. He could have made it like Legends. The LF storygroup then built off of what he filmed.
ThePalaeontologist I think the main reason was to appese a younger and newer audience and the majority sex in the country. 1. Have young actors being leads 2. Tap into the women growing market. 3. Make it simple so other directors who pick it up have simple story to go on.
To be fair Alot of great leaders in history sadly died by shitty and unexpected assassinations Like abraham Lincoln I like thrawn's death cuz its realistic
It's amazing how it took that long of a Era-long war to end and to have so much work put into this masterpiece of fictional art. Kudos to the creators and their effort!
Wouldn't call this the happy ending either. There was peace in the galaxy for 6 years in which a species from the Unknown Regions called the Yuuzhan Vong invaded the galaxy and the New Republic collapsed. What was left of the New Republic was reorganized as the Galactic Alliance and with help from the Imperial Remnant defeated the Vong and sent them to exile to the planet of Zonama Sekot. Both the Alliance and Remnant (which was reorganized into the Fel empire) were allies until 127 ABY (After Battle of Yavin or episode 4) where the Ossus project had brought ruin to worlds still affected from Yuuzhan Vong war instead of helping them. The Jedi and Yuuzhan Vong had claimed there was sabotage but had no evidence of it. The Moffs had seen it as an act of war and later that year war was declared. The war ended in 130 ABY with the Alliance and the Jedi being defeated and the One Sith committing a coup on the empire. Which would start a civil war that would last 8 years with the Sith defeated and loyalists to the old empire and what was left of the Jedi and the Alliance merging to form a Galactic Federation Triumvirate.
@@jett_power Beautiful. Though perhaps I'd of preferred the sith and jedi merging into something resembling the philosophy philosophy of both the early je'daii and Darth Kreiya, that overall as you put it is a beautiful ending to Star Wars.
Here’s something I came up with to combine both Canon & Legends: 1 year after the Battle Of Endor, a lot of the imperials (Regional governors, Admirals-turned-warlords, etc) starting fighting each other. This caused a lot of infighting and betrayals. Unbeknownst to them, the Empire still had someone in control, courtesy of Emperor Palpatine's protégé, Gallius Rax; Grand Vizier Mas Amedda, and the Imperial Ruling Council. Although Coruscant was in a civil war, The three parties managed to focus on both wars. Eventually, they came up with the Fortress World Strategy, and some of the regional governors went with the strategy. The Rebel Alliance was unaware, and just focused on what they do know. Eventually, they transitioned into the New Republic. They then decided to focus on the warlords, knocking out one, and then moving on to the next. Thrawn then took control, pushing back the New Republic. He was close to destroying them, but was assassinated. (I’m still haven’t decided if I want Palpatine to return, or not.) Gilad Pellaeon then took control. Pellaeon, Amedda, and the council were against Rax’s intentions on destroying the Empire and the New Republic simultaneously, but Rax secretly took a portion of Imperial troops, and went to Jakku to fulfill his destiny. The Empire, minus Rax and his troops, moved to the outer rim. Meanwhile, Rax was forming his plan to destroy both factions. After The Ravager crashed onto Jakku, Pellaeon was informed of Rax’s disobedience. Infuriated, Pellaeon sent troopers to arrest Rax for disobedience, but before they arrived, Rax was killed by Rae Sloane, who then went to find The Eclipse, and create the First Order. After the Empire lost the Battle Of Jakku, Pellaeon was informed about Rax’s death, thinking to himself “I guess Rax got what he deserved”. Understanding that there now no way of winning the war, Pellaeon decided that the only way for the Empire to survive was to come to peace with the New Republic. Amedda and the council had no choice, but to agree. This leads to the Pellaeon-Gavirsom Treaty (AKA The Galactic Concordance). The treaty states that all hostilities were to come to an end, and that the Empire, now known as the Imperial Remnant, was to recognized as a legitimate government. The imperials had to hand over Coruscant to the New Republic, and that they can’t mobilize their forces unless if necessary. Open trading, and commerce was outlined, while also giving power to both sides to crack down smuggling when necessary. Torture and cloaking devices were also outlawed as a way to prevent scandals and spying. Finally, any sovereign system can choose to be apart of any faction they choose. And with two signatures, the war ended.
You should've mentioned how some leaders within the Empire refused to sign the treaty so they took their ships and retreated into Unknown Regions, where eventually these factions would form into the First Order.
Legends was better. The Empire falling into warlord states after the Emperor’s death makes sense, but the New Republic taking over the galaxy in a year definitively doesn’t.
I would compare it more to the Battle of the Bulge. But Operation Zitadelle is a fair comparison as well. Of course, the Germans did take fewer casualties than the Soviets at Kursk. And I'm pretty certain the Rebels didn't take more casualties than the Empire. But that's a minor detail.
Well the Battle of Kursk was supposed to continue, however the allies invaded Sicily which then lead to the Italian government collapsing which forced the Nazis to occupy Italy and putting all offensives on the Eastern front on hold which allowed the Soviets to push back against the Nazis.
The story of World War 2 is essentially just the story of Germany doing things, and then having to cancel them in order to save Italy's bacon. If Italy hadn't decided to throw themselves against Yugoslavia and Greece, Germany would had probably won the war.
Well SW's does relate on purpose to ancient Rome even its division within from its split to New Rome in the East and eventually it's entire demise and a lot of WW2 references especially rebellions where yeah through France, Greece, Yugoslavia, Poland etc there were many successful rebellions but at cost and supported by England secretly until USA got into war a developed a massive army through a complete transformation of its industrial base. Hitler had death troopers and storm troopers which are terms used in SW's.
Yea true, cuz the empire technically outnumbered the rebel at that point in time, for canon to states in 1 yr is seriously lazy writing without giving mich thought on the story with no logic at all. For me, Disney Canon is a joke at this point. I couldn't careless for any disney star wars related media cuz i know is bad. I mean just look what they done to episode 7 rey and kylo fighting red imperial guard is a whole god damn joke in fighting choreography
Love how many sci-fi videos online of Star Wars, Star Trek and others use tons of art images and comic material to explain the EU things many are unawares of. So thank you in making these types of videos.
Legends is the vastly superior continuity and much more realistic in terms of conflict length and how the Empire would have to be taken apart piecemeal.
I like how legends is more realistic and the new republic doesn't just crush the whole remnant. And it's actually a happy ending with peace coming afterward, I barely got any clue about events in legends and I already like its end. Canon is just "hahaha ha one battle make big empire fall and cripple with only a small amount of remnants surviving after and Uh idk what happens to remnants, ANYWAY cut to resistance and first order"
Mr. Blank stormtrooper armour is made of the same thing as TIE-FIGHTERS Ewoks just have strong rocks also they're aim is perfectly fine they were told not kill Han Luke leia and Chewbacca so Vader could track the millenia falcon
I prefer the Legends end myself. Also, did anybody else see the thumbnail and be reminded of that chicken lawyer from Futurama, even though they're different colours?
Pellaeons' True Empire ftw. Eliminating the last of Palpatine's flunkies and bringing the Empire into its true form to make way for the Empire to retake the galaxy.
I'm sure it's cool in context but just hearing about Palpatine resurrect himself then body hop around just sounds goofy. Aside from that, I like the EU version better, more complex and interesting. Thought not to say the canon version is bad.
I think its alright don't know why everyone hated it so much, Sure it was kind of derivative, but so was basically every other Legends book until the New Jedi Order. And it was cool to see young Palpatine. Plus the force storms were badass.
Legends sounds like a true, accurate reflection of the results of any revolution or uprising. Alot of the time, things don't just end up all hunky dory so suddenly. Just look at the French Revolution. That was followed up by several soon after. The canon version sounds more like what an idealistic revolutionary leader thinks will happen once they eliminate the despot. To paraphrase Thrawn ' The Empire is a government that maintain some order and provide food, water and electricity to worlds'
Most people in the comments: "The Legends version is more detailed, but the clone palpatine thing was stupid." Rise of Skywalker: "hey guys yknow what people really loved"
Those comments were made before Rise of Skywalker came out so don’t act high and mighty about peoples opinions. I hated Palpatine coming back in legends and in episode 9.
Huh..so an old man shakes Big Bird's hand and that's how the most destructive Civil war war the Galaxy's ever seen comes to a close...people in real life need to learn from this.
i like legends more! the legends is old timeline of star wars and way more longer than Canon! also that: Galactic civil war is more realistic! Normal war takes 15 years! so more realistic! and New Jedi Order was way higher in Legends than Canon! (Yes im talking about Luke Skywalker's jedi what is not even Jedi Order because Luke had only 2 apprentices Ben solo and one more unnamed apprentice
Legends makes more sense to me. It's far more interesting. Yeah, some iffy stories like Dark Empire were made. But they still had an impact and had logic to the galaxy.
The galactic civil war lasted longer in legends because the empire was way more powerful than the canon empire and had a lot more super weapons like the sun crusher and world devestators
I love both stories but I do hope that Disney carries the Fel Empire over to the new canon, or at least maybe makes the First Order (or an empire descended from it) like the Fel Empire where it was actually an indisputable good for the galaxy.
Jacob they will...and they have the perfect way to do it. kyber crystals are a source of immense energy. and the galaxy is in shambles thanks to decades of unending warfare...the first order has control of imperial archives and knows where all the kyber crystals rich planets are. the first order now has a near infinite supply...and they sell it to the galaxy at a price so low that other sources of energy cannot compete. making the first order into the galaxies sole energy supplier...bathing it in unimaginable riches. the owner of the kyber crystal mines is Franken fel...and he is crowned emperor by the moff and governors due to his economic genius. rey and Franken marry as Franken is a good man who had adventures with rey during the resistance - first order war as a member of her battalion but was largely a centrist who joined the resistance to depose snoke. the first order gains a economic boom of immense proportions and becomes a superpower. the new republic and the fel empire are rivals...but rey and Franken marriage puts them on good terms with Luke(Franken is the only imperial luke trusts)
Legends: 15 years of bloody civil war and an empire fractured into warring states. Canon: Rebel: “Hey.” Imperial: “What?” Rebel: “Stop it.” Imperial: “No.” Rebel: **Pushes model Star Destroyer off table.** “Stop it.” Imperial: “Okay.”
Palpatine planned over 20 years this plot in an institution that was already weak and corrupted for centuries, he took the banking clan, made alliances with powerful military leaders such as Tarkin, centralized the republic's power in the chanceller hands, created an entire plot with Kaminoans to keep the clone army ultimately in his control and set up the entire clone wars to weak all the galactic governments in order to move forward with the coup You cant undone all of this in just one heroic battle after hes dead, its ridiculous, many planets and powerful generals saw the empire with great esteem, they wouldnt change sides or magically give up because the emperor died
What people don’t understand was, how fast the rebels turned around the war, before the destruction of the second Death Star the rebels were losing the war, hiding out of Endor, after that they completely turn it around- in one year? Hard to believe.
Canon version is so massively unrealistic. Over one dozen SSD's, 25K ISD's and LITERALLY MILLIONS of other warships, among them many cruiser, frigate and carrier class vessels, tens of million of fighters and millions upon million of soldiers and military assets do not just self-destruct over a single year like that, and that's not counting new recruits or new ships being built. The Republic had over a million represented worlds before the Empire was born, and the Empire conquered and colonized so much more on top of that. Legends is the version that makes any sense here. It would take AT LEAST a couple decades to destroy it all of those assets, even if they fractured and fought each other.
you do not need to fight on to the last ship, most would just have surrendered. Even if you have ships, you need men to crew them, I believe that after Jakku many members of the Imperial army would refuse to fight and surrender, forcing Amedda to negociate a peace treaty. Think of it as Germany in late 1918, the army is not totally beaten, but public support for the war is nonexistent, troops are surrendering in droves and political stability is almost nonexistent.

But many years later another civil war started again with the remanent of the Old empire became the First Order.
@@DavBlc7 Wrong storyline

I still don't understand the whole Benghazi incident
yeah but its stupid in legends how palpatine gets reborn
Im triggered by the example lybia....
Edit: or libya...
And that Legends the gempire surrenders and managed of keeping a few star destroyers AND super star destroyers in the new republic fleet in the Yuuzhan Vong War, and then Galactic Alliances
and canon the galactic empire surrender after they lost the battle of jakku with the very few ships left in the remaining fleet and lost it all.
and canon Shows us how drastically the empire lost so many ships after Endor and that there 25,000 of them.
and legends is very not much.
Other than the emperors clone thing, I love the old lore over new lore. 20 years is still pretty fast in a galactic scale. But 1 year and one big battle? Seriously Disney?
Thats dumb.
Did you just say really Disney? This is back in 1970s
Fitza legends was in the 1979 Disney made the new cannon
Disney didn't write the lore, they just chose one of dozens of legends lores.
Can someone please tell me why the plot is stupid?
+imperial ethiopian, my only complaint with it is that it made Vader's sacrifice pointless in the end. I also didn't much care for the artwork.

Unless he could only transfer that way into a clone of his own that has no "soul" as it were, and not a seperate, and already occupied body.

Who's Jaden? I thought he tried to take over Anakin Solo while he was an infant. It's been over 20 years since I read the story, I didn't care for the Dark Empire storyline nor the artwork, so I didn't pick it up again after I read it.
The legends was alot more intresting than the canon version!
oh stfu pls
Indeed legends are great 👍
Captain23rd Gaming Finally! someone who agrees, all our legends fans throw em up xD
Way better than this overpriced fan fiction we're getting now.
Uhm, reincarnated Palpatine is THE definition of Star Wars fan fiction
the legend version is more interesting. kinda seems like the cannon version was just to wrap up the war and start the new trilogy.
Exactly - that’s what it was for...
They even demilitarized the newly formed new republic to make it easier for the First order....
O.G. Starwars Even in Legends the Old Republic did that and well it is a mistake... There are more galaxies out there and having a professional military force to prevent destruction is the best. Also also in canon apparently they didn't learn nothing!
I mean now you get shows and stuff so it’s getting better

The legend did a perfect job and feel like the rebel wining the war better than the movie or the show
The Palpatine clone I tiny bit get it why he wants to clone himself so that he can be back to his prime youth and be more powerful and also cheat death but it's kind of stupid. If it's Emperor in is Youth vs. Grand Master Skywalker. That I would be interested to see that duel.
Steven Irizarry can people have a fucking opinion?
@@Boringspy and then Palpatine's operation cinder and then somehow
In canon the battle of Jakku was essentially where Palpatine faked the Empire’s death to allow the First Order to grow without any New Republic interference.
As soon as he “died” on the Deathstar, Palpatine enacted operation Cinder which, apart from destroying multiple worlds using satellites, involved the death of the Empire and birth of the First Order. That’s why it only took one year for the Empire to “give up”, because it was meant to.
How the Galactic Civil War Came to an End.

I've always liked Pellaeon. He seemed like a good guy in Heir to the Empire.
I like how they added good people in the empire, makes you see that it isn't completely evil. Good men like pellaen and Yularen. I'm sure there was much more considering the empire was full of human recruits.
The man really shined in The Hand of Thrawn when he had to reign in the Imperials from torpedoing the peace process.

same, legends all the way
I personally would have destroyed the empire completely
So do I. I do not understand why the could not make a Movie based on the Legends. I thought altering the story like that violated the writing terms associated with Star Wars!
Agreed well after all the imperial who ended the war was a man of peace ☮️
Matthew Chenault
And the New Republic followed suit. Just one World to take them down?
15 years was definitely to long
@303en And the Holy Roman Empire continues today in Liechtenstein. The New Republic is a house of cards.
i sometimes try to fit in Legends with the new Canon
ok Same here, but it sometimes doesn’t fit together. It’s best to consider Legends material that doesn’t conflict with the Disney Canon.
ok me too but au thrawn still alive until being stab in the back
And palpatine came back to life only to get killed again
And made Jakku the last beginning of the end
Its ur choice if its canon or not
I’ve thought of it myself, since I like both.
Carlos D Rodriguez but in this one most of the new Jedi order is still alive and even the imperial remnant under fel sends imperials to hunt the first order
And to avoid contradicting I change kylo Rens real name to ken
It’s just kylo is trying to hunt and kill the first of the new to become like darth Vader and this was when Luke was banished by Daala
And the Luke was trying to save one of his academies
I like legends better. Everything in canon ends in a fight.
As usual, the Legends version is the more realistic and believable version of events
Except for clone Emperor and no last ditch assault from the Empire.
DependableExpendable
Last ditch assault wouldn't have strategic value. It was safer for the Remanent to grow stronger and attack New Republic, when the time comes, instead of wasting resources and manpower for an operation, that didn't guarantee victory
Exactly and Paelleon wasn't the type of leader to waste manpower or resources on that type of operation.
I wonder was the legend version look like when the empire make their last stand kinda like WW2 when Russia marching to Berlin wiping the Germans one by one to capture Berlin
Anakin Skywalker Um hello...Kamino...
I actually like the Legends version better
Matthew Wittkopp awful...legends is only liked because it's old
well its more believable than "oh the empire completely fell apart with no real hold outs besides this mysterious first order which came out of nowhere"
Steven Irizarry We like it because we like the stories, age has nothing to do with it.
Steven Irizarry legends is better
The legends story is far more detailed and would have provided good stuff for upcoming star wars movies. You can clearly see how the now-canon writers simply turned down this chaotic yet interesting and somehow beautiful era.
Doubt
The Legend version is 100x better in my opinion.
@@stevenirizarry1304 lmao. Now that Rise of Skywalker is out, wanna change ur claim?
Yeah I think so too.
Some Guy on TH-cam I wish we had them instead of the first order.
Yuuzhan Vong would be out of place atm, in my opinion,
One of their significant traits is counter-jedi/force tools, but we only have a handful of force sensitives in the universe at this time.
I blame Disney for not making them a thing in the new trilogy.
Gabriel Tejada can't say that yet, we have 30 years between 6 and 7, and 2 more movies
I really like the Legends civil war, it makes a lot more sense that the Rebellion had a hard time to organize into the New Republic and that not all of the Galaxy would be taken over by them, Empires don't usually fall completely in a very short period of time.
can you please do a video on the yuuzhan vong war? (keep up the good work)

The republic fleet is bigger lol
when I see videos like this I regret that we lost the EU
No EU was full of shit, Palpatine clone is a prime example
Agree :-(
We still have the EU, it's just a seperate canon.
Donagh B same dude. the galactic Disney empire has claimed many good stuff from the eu.
As long as the new canon gets rid of stupid shit like the TIE tank, it's better.
I like the legends version. It seems more realistic and has fair terms of peace.
See how the books are way better than Disney's 'New Trilogy' . The Legends ending was much better and Admiral Thrawn was an amazing emperor compared to 'emperor Snoke of the first order'.
Absolutely based as of today
Wow I didn't realize that chocobos made their way into the star wars universe!
I wonder if they taste the same.
Tormageddon Its in the thumbnail
Tormageddon No i didnt just that he looks like one
wow the empire and the new republic working together man that's like a powerful army
It’s simple. I see an Imperial officer shaking hands with a giant bird man, I click.
The legends version is better yet...The shit with cloning palpatine was fucking stupid!
Agreed. It completely ruined the impact of Anakin Skywalker's sacrifice.
Glad that's not canon anymore.
K-2SO Same, though kinda wish Disney went along the lines of picking what was and wasn't cannon to make things easier. I mean the rest of the fall of the Empire could have fit in with the TFA?

howmaney times do you haft to F##King kill one guy?!?!?!?
Star Chaser Depends.
One of the biggest difference between a jedi and a sith since them splitting up the jeda'ii order was that the jedi can end up being one with the force upon death while the sith can deny death. This is a trait even upholded within the new canon due to characters like Maul being a part of it
I like the legends version far more.
Thrawn and Admiral Daala could have been so badass. Instead, they had to get some Darth Vader wannabe and Giant Gollum.

Christian Montes Palpatine is a Sith. Sith like to cheat death. It's Palpatine's method of "transfer essence", which is a poor Sith representation of the Jedi's Force Ghosting.

Brotha Gabe
You know for a time their was a theory he attended to use it on either Luke or Anakin.

What do you like more Canon or Legends?Though I didnt grew up with Legends I´d go with Legends here.
Dragonball Anime Fan I don't think 15 years is too long personally, we can all agree however, that the legends version is way better than cannon's
+Lucas Aubin In a universe filled with space wizards and laser swords, I don't think realism is a reasonable answer too prefer one thing over another, but too each his own.

1. Have young actors being leads

It's amazing how it took that long of a Era-long war to end and to have so much work put into this masterpiece of fictional art. Kudos to the creators and their effort!
legends actually sounds like the happy ending
proper peace

This is my favorite Canon/Legends channel.
Here’s something I came up with to combine both Canon & Legends:
1 year after the Battle Of Endor, a lot of the imperials (Regional governors, Admirals-turned-warlords, etc) starting fighting each other.
(I’m still haven’t decided if I want Palpatine to return, or not.)
Gilad Pellaeon then took control.
The Empire falling into warlord states after the Emperor’s death makes sense, but the New Republic taking over the galaxy in a year definitively doesn’t.
honestly half the reason why I come here is for the dope screenshots you're so kind to give
I want a movie about Thrawn or Pellaeon unifying the Empire.
Jakku is basicly the German's version of Kursk. (Search it up)
I would compare it more to the Battle of the Bulge.
Jeff da pro does stuff Well...It wasn't an all out battle on a mostly strategically unimportant piece of land.
I like legends better. no way in one year and a galaxy full of stormtroopers can immediately gets destroyed like that.
That big bird creature in the thumbnail shaking hands is majestic
I like how legends is more realistic and the new republic doesn't just crush the whole remnant. And it's actually a happy ending with peace coming afterward, I barely got any clue about events in legends and I already like its end. Canon is just "hahaha ha one battle make big empire fall and cripple with only a small amount of remnants surviving after and Uh idk what happens to remnants, ANYWAY cut to resistance and first order"
If only the Empire kept using Clones...they would easily win against the rebel scum!
Mr. Blank stormtrooper armour is made of the same thing as TIE-FIGHTERS Ewoks just have strong rocks also they're aim is perfectly fine they were told not kill Han Luke leia and Chewbacca so Vader could track the millenia falcon
I wouldn't have kept on fighting for them.
When it come to comparing armour, storm trooper armour is actually superior to both phase I and II armour, the quality of solider on the other hand...
Wasn't Rex's armour heavily coustomised?
Republic Holdout clones had good warrior genes, that made them marskmen by trait, a *hitting* ending
Can you cover Luke's actions and tales as a rebel or the times he fought Vader? Really want to know what he did and who he fought
In Legends, Luke fought Vader once outside the movies and conducted various Rebel missions.
4:45 The treaty between the Empire and the New Republic was signed by a giant turkey?
Ponc Gavrisom, and he’s a Calibop.
Big Bird from Seasame street
I prefer the Legends end myself.
Also, did anybody else see the thumbnail and be reminded of that chicken lawyer from Futurama, even though they're different colours?
The canon version is WAY too short for a war in the whole GALAXY. But the Legends version has a few too many twists and turns.
Pellaeons' True Empire ftw. Eliminating the last of Palpatine's flunkies and bringing the Empire into its true form to make way for the Empire to retake the galaxy.
Forget star wars rebels, this amazing info could used for a series between episodes VI and VII
Palpatine was a sith and used sith alchemy to try to be immortal - as in the lore
And?
Disney needs to stay on their meds, 1 Year is way to quick for an empire as big as palpatines to collapse
Canon Peace Treaty: torture bad >:(
Legends Peace Treaty: An actual damn treaty

A Civil War inside a Civil War?
The Spanish Civil War in a nutshell...
In canon imperial remanants remained for years idiots
@@db4517who are u talk to? Even a year later no one has told u to READ THE ENTIRE COMMENT before u say something dumb. Smh
Most people in the comments: "The Legends version is more detailed, but the clone palpatine thing was stupid."
Rise of Skywalker: "hey guys yknow what people really loved"
Those comments were made before Rise of Skywalker came out so don’t act high and mighty about peoples opinions. I hated Palpatine coming back in legends and in episode 9.
Imperial warlords fighting eachother over territory
The New Republic: 👁👄👁
Huh..so an old man shakes Big Bird's hand and that's how the most destructive Civil war war the Galaxy's ever seen comes to a close...people in real life need to learn from this.
*thrawns fleet comes out of hyperspace*
Thrawn: "hello there!"
General thrawn
I love these short stories/videos. Thank you for doing them.
The legends version is better
And would make a amazing trilogy
Trilogy Shit dude, The Thrawn trilogy alone is just one part of the story, and it would make a whole trilogy of movies on its own.
Expanded Universe is by far richer.
i like legends more! the legends is old timeline of star wars and way more longer than Canon! also that: Galactic civil war is more realistic! Normal war takes 15 years! so more realistic! and New Jedi Order was way higher in Legends than Canon! (Yes im talking about Luke Skywalker's jedi what is not even Jedi Order because Luke had only 2 apprentices Ben solo and one more unnamed apprentice
I like the conclusion in legends because it’s more epic and interesting and in a way both sides win and survive.
Legends makes more sense to me. It's far more interesting. Yeah, some iffy stories like Dark Empire were made. But they still had an impact and had logic to the galaxy.
That last stipulation of the legends treaty was what caused the sith-imperial war
4:47 you mean the pallaeon - big bird treaty?
Legends: story and a plausible end
Disnep: it's over hurr durr
The galactic civil war lasted longer in legends because the empire was way more powerful than the canon empire and had a lot more super weapons like the sun crusher and world devestators
Loving the new thumbnail art.
I like the legends ending better
one of the best ones I've seen
Good job, love the videos and keep doing what you do.
Imperial knights and the fel empire was amazing . Long live emperor Roan Fel
Legends: 15 years of bloody civil war and an empire fractured into warring states.
Canon:
Rebel: “Hey.”
Imperial: “What?”
Rebel: “Stop it.”
Imperial: “No.”
Rebel: **Pushes model Star Destroyer off table.**
“Stop it.”
Imperial: “Okay.”
Palpatine planned over 20 years this plot in an institution that was already weak and corrupted for centuries, he took the banking clan, made alliances with powerful military leaders such as Tarkin, centralized the republic's power in the chanceller hands, created an entire plot with Kaminoans to keep the clone army ultimately in his control and set up the entire clone wars to weak all the galactic governments in order to move forward with the coup
You cant undone all of this in just one heroic battle after hes dead, its ridiculous, many planets and powerful generals saw the empire with great esteem, they wouldnt change sides or magically give up because the emperor died
just got high and wow you have a good voice to talk about star wars
Great vid m8
The fact that in the book Iron Fist, the Super Star Destroyer Razor's Kiss was still being built at Kuat shows the Empire was still pretty strong.
you do not need to fight on to the last ship, most would just have surrendered.
I actually prefer the Legends version. Sure would be nice seeing Empire working together with New Republic. And no hostilities.
