WATER in FUEL!

  • Mower won't start?
We had a call about a lawn mower that wouldn't start, at 1st I thought it was most likely the carburetor that needed cleaning, but after pulling the fuel line, I quickly discovered that there was Water in the Fuel!
This usually happens when 1. A mower is stored outside (it rains and the fuel tank gets water into it).
Or 2. The fuel being used is old & has sat in a jerry can for an extended period of time!
Sometimes you can even get fresh fuel from the pump & it will have water in it!
This happens because they use more and more Ethanol in fuel these days.
Ethanol is Grain Alcohol (From corn) & alcohol actually attracts water!
These machines are built to run on Ethanol free fuel, so I recommend buying Premium fuel with ZERO ETHANOL.
Gasoline such as 89 octane will sometimes say E10 (10% Ethanol)
You also want to stay away from E85 (85% Ethanol) as the high concentrate of alcohol will eat away at your fuel lines!
Stay tuned for an upcoming video where I show you how to prevent this from happening by using K100S+ Fuel Stabilizer!

Good video and really surprised on amount of water that was shown that your customer had in the fuel tank. This is definitely a condensation issue where moisture is building up in the Jerry Can that your customer uses to fill their machines. I use K100S+ stabilizer made in Jamestown New York and they advertise "We make water burn" and i have never had any water related issues since i have been using this. Maybe a good future video for your Eliminators.

just curious if you had some water in your fuel system on your lawn mower could it still run although with an uneven idle that surges up and down? or in most cases wouldn't turn over or run at all.

Is it safe to say just get regular gas from gas station and use it in lawnmower ? Can't u put in that certain liquid to eliminate the water out of mower gas tank instead ?

Another awesome video! I had the exact situation with my Honda a left outside in the rain. Whats the proper way to clean out the gas tank? can i just disconnect the fuel line and pour hot water inside or does it need to removed? also can the carb bowl just be taken off to drain the water or does it need a total cleaning? Basically can I somehow clean the carb with just leaving most of it on the blower without getting into removing the jet, tube etc....?

We drain fuel and sometimes use CLR in metal tanks. Other times we wash them out with Spray Nine and rinse with water from the hose until there's no more bubbles, then let dry in the sun. Yes you can drain the bowl and get rid of water, because it will settle to the bottom.

@@EliminatorPerformance looks like in many of your vids you work on small engines that have water damage of some sorts. Water in fuel, water corroding carbs and all its internal components etc maybe a good video idea on how to properly store and prep your blower for next season to avoid all this for the average homeowner. Great vids by the way. Lots of detail and useful information.
