How To Knit With Waste Yarn - Forethought (or Afterthought) Heel Tutorial

In this video, I will demonstrate how to knit with waste yarn so that you can place your heel once you are done knitting a sock (or, in this case, a stocking). Knitting with waste yarn is simple and not at all scary once you see how it is done!

Knitting the heel will be different on a patter-by-pattern basis, and, with an afterthought or forethought heel, is super simple mostly times as they only use very basic decreases.

I find using cotton with wool helps prevent the wool yarns from sticking together

Hi Caleb,
I am not a sock knitter but I am making your Christmas stocking. I understand adding the waste yarn. However I am using magic loop. Can I have the waste yarn link between the two needles? I feel like when I get back to the heel, it will be fine because it will be on two needles and straight. What are your thoughts?
