I wasn't very impressed that I paid for a pattern that simply said "Knit in waste yarn for after thought heel here" with no indication as to WHERE to knit or at what point. Your video clearly says between 2inches to 2 & 1/4 inch! THANK YOU.
This is the best afterthought heel tutorial I have ever seen! Bravo! I especially like your part Three. Other videos skip this part thinking it too remedial (I suppose.) thank you so very much!!
hi knit purl,I wanted to ask you a question, you know a after thought heel,can I not just hang the two sides on waste yarn, so I can finish the whole tube Socks. the waste stitch I mean will be live stitches,so I can come and knit straight into them for decrease for the heel . does that make sense or is that a not going to work?

there's an easier way, use a dpn to knit the waste yarn , then just go back with your circulars and knit over the waste yarn

It's just a knit stitch - it makes a little heart shape.

Does waste yarn need to be the same weight as your sock yarn
I would recommend the same weight yarn or slightly smaller to prevent the waste yarn from distorting the stitches.
