Great detailed video. I have a basic quad lock system running on my bike. I can definity see how Quad lock has gone the extra mile with the wireless charging system to ensure a waterproof connection to the wireless mount head.
My concern is that there is still a weak point in the system when it comes to how waterproof the entire electrical circuit is. The week point is the first connection from the 12V or USB outlet on the bike to the wireless mount.
Every USB or 12V "cigarette outlet" I've seen advertised for any bike, appears to be highly susceptible to water entering the power output to cable connection.
IMHO, it's useless to have a waterproof connection at the end of a circuit if the begging of the circuit isn't also waterproof.
A chain is only as strong as its weakest link.

It’s not the bike Billy, that front port will supply 10A at 12v if it needs to (120w) and the alternator will power a small village on the Explorer. Make sure your USB port is the 2.1A rated one. USB is only 5v and if you only have a 1A adapter you will only get by 5w out of it. Change it to 2.1A and you will get 10.5 watts and it will charge properly.

@@billy4rocks Best is to use QuadLock own 12V-USB adaptor. There you can turn it on Auto mode(turns on when bike is running) / Off / On and then you can be sure that it gives correct ampers for wireless charger + then its much more waterproof, because USB connection is covered with rubber. I am using that set on my jetski. :)

Good review. I asked myself, why they aren‘t so clever eliminating the next weak point ? Every connection with a removable connector is a weak point. Somwhy don‘t hardwire it to the charger or use SAE connectors? I never understand brands design not to the end.

For higher wireless charging power, a USB charger with higher current (Ampere) is required. I use a USB charger that can deliver 2.4 Ampere (Optimate USB O- 100), on a 1991 BMW airhead. My iPhone XR is charged in with high power (the green light is constantly on - not intermittent). Btw: thanks for this review. Tells me what I wanted to know about the vibration dampener.

Fitted mine today Billy. I fitted a 3.1 amp USB output to bike a few days ago.
Changing to standard head for the Wireless charging head was cinch and literally took a few moments of my time.
I went out today as the weather was glorious so I rode from Hull to Cleethorpes and back. 32% charge upon leaving Hull and it was 98% charged upon arriving at Clee. I'd call that a win. I've also got the Vibration dampener fitted too. Its all on a RAM Mount and is rock solid with lots of options to move it around to exactly where I want it.

Looks like a neat system overall. I may invest in this. I do feel however that they should just incorporate the vibration dampening and the wireless charging right into the mount and eliminate multiple connection points/points of failure. I think this would be a better design. Still offer all the other products, but offer mounts that have everything built right in. Just my two cents. Thank you for demonstrating some of this. I also think your phone would charge faster if you weren’t actually running maps / GPS (although I realize thats the point of mounting it there). I think some of those apps are rather taxing to the battery.

I’ve got a question. It seems that by mounting the vibration dampening unit, then the wireless charger, that there is no longer a LOCK to the QuadLock case right? If the case no longer LOCKS to the wireless charging unit, do you have any concerns with the phone accidentally coming off the wireless charger? I see there is also no tether on the QuadLock cases, so if that phone gets bumped accidentally and comes off while you are riding, you don’t even have a tether around the mount to save the phone. Any concerns here? So it’s a QuadLock system that no longer locks?
