Bought the quad lock mag case for my iPhone 15 pro max. Didn’t see this video till I found out it doesn’t charge wirelessly with any Apple mag chargers or my other belkin 3 n1 stand or desk too chargers. Wish I watched this. Could have saved me money

iPhone 15 pro max, MagSafe puck charger and same issues as you. I can accept that this case is not compatible. I just have a really hard time accepting that Quad Lock keeps advertising it as compatible, and have no interest at all in evolving the product :(

Well its false advertising and they charge you more for the magsafe case than the regular one. I have one and cannot charge it using my apple magsafe charger. I feel robbed

Thanks Michael for your research. I reached out to Quad Lock to raise the issue of my 13 Pro Max case not working with the Apple MagSafe Battery pack. I asked them to look into fixing it for future cases. When I asked their technical support team last month if the issue was fixed, because I was about to buy a 15 Pro Max, they basically said that they could not guarantee compatibility with all MagSafe devices, not even Apple’s own. Furthermore, they went on to promote their own MagSafe battery pack. Design limitation, or cynical marketing manipulation in order to further sales of their own products? 🤔
Great protective case and anchor design, but I’m very disappointed with Quad Lock to say the least 😠
Will you be performing similar testing of other iPhone cases with mounting points built in, to see if there are alternatives with broader MagSafe charging compatibility?

Great review mate, I've the S23Ultra with quad lock case. Intermittent issue still present even with quad lock charger on the motorbike 😢 pity for such a good quality case

Hi Michael. I've just purchased a 15 Pro (upgrade from an iPhone 8) and Quad Lock Mag Case with accessories. I have a 3 in 1 Chinese cheap wireless charger that I was given as a present. Not the fastest charger but charged my iPhone 8 and Watch ok without dropouts. Put my 15 pro in the case on the charger and it wouldn't charge however much I moved it around. I then took the Quad Lock Ring/Stand off the case and it charged fine straight away. Not had time to do a full test but it went from 45% to fully charged pretty quickly. Just wandering in your tests did you have the Ring/Stand fitted ?

Yes, Quad Lock have confirmed that you cannot MagSafe charge with the ring stand in the case. You have to remove it to charge.

Sorry for the multiple comments: I think the problem is that in order to have the back of the case be flat (and compatible with MagSafe) the case needs to be very thick to hide the physical quad lock mechanism. That thickness is on the edge of what the wireless chargers can provide.
No apology required, i appreciate the comments. Yeah i agree, the case is too thick and outside of being able to be held magneticly there is no intention of it being compatible with 3rd party accessories. It's sad to see, becuase outside of that its a fantastic case.

No doubt, i've rated them for years and still do. Just a shame they have went down this route with Magsafe and 3rd party accessories.

I have the quad lock mag safe case on my 14 pro and just got a Journey 3 in 1 charging stand and have had no issues so far. It's not a fast charging stand as I didn't see the need, maybe that has something to do with it.

Lanyards are great for hunting and hiking. I may or may not have had my phone tethered on a Colorado elk hunt and temporarily lost my phone in a foot and a half of snow a mile and a half up a mountain at 8,000 feet.

Thank you , just saved me from wasting almost a $100. The fact the wireless charging does not work with majority of Apple and third party chargers is a huge issue. Perhaps they shouldn’t use the term MagSafe in their advertising.

On the quad lock page, I can order the case depending on the iPhone model. Did the models for the previous phones also change?

I do have quadlock wireless charging head on my motorcycle + adhesive mount on iphone 15 pro max, however wireless charging isn’t working at all.

Same here, spent around $250 for the Quadlock system including their smart charging switch so the wireless charging head doesn’t drain the battery too low. Since I switched to the mag case, it hasn’t worked, currently dealing with customer service to figure it out and it’s been a royal pain in the @$$
Quad lock has their own mag battery but I think they discontinued it for some reason

I just got the Belkin Boost Charge Pro2 desk stand and have found that it won’t work with my QuadLock IPhone 15 Pro Max MagSafe case 🤦🏻♂️ Looks like I’ll have to use the Quadlock desk mount.
A different case would be cheaper.. 😆
The night stand charger that you use is the belting v1 or v2???
i have both the V1 and the V2. Both have the same issue.
So after the frustration of buying a iPhone 15 pro max quad lock mag case and it not charge with Apple puck or other qi chargers. I finally found one that doesn’t disconnect. Doesn’t fall off and most important charges. ESR mag charger with built in kickstand. I checked the charging outputs. My phone at 70 percent it was wireless charging at 12w. Hope this helps others. P.S. I have the ESR cyroboost car mag car charger and it disconnects constantly. But so far testing 2 days all day this ESR mag charger with kickstand charges every time. Hope this helps others

@@MichaelsTechTalk iPhone 14 Plus here and my Apple MagSafe Charger will pick it up sometimes but then drops it. Other times it doesn't pick it up at all. Ordered an ESR HaloLock Mini wireless MagSafe charger and no issues at all.
My quadlock case for Pixel 7a is sooooo thick and heavy. They didn't try to optimize the size at all.
My MAG case for Pixel 7 isn't that thick, and I can't imagine the one for the 7A being much thicker. In fact, my P7 MAG case is a bit thinner than the traditional Quad Lock case for the Pixel 5.
I just bought the iphone 15 pro max and the Quad Lock Mag case. It doesnt work with the mag charger at all with either of my two APPLE mag chargers... dont they test these things before they make them and sell them to people? Now i gotta change cases when I wanna ride my bike... I wish I hadnt bought the Quad Lock

I had a similar problem with quad lock case on a 13mini - connects and “charges” but drains the battery while showing green.
Does it matter which anker battery? They make a 5 & 10 thousand ma batteries - same MagSafe tech?😊

I spoke to Quadlock about the MagSafe Case on my iPhone 15Plus which wouldn't charge on a Belkin BoostCharge Pro (MagSafe compatible) and they said they only guarantee the MagSafe Cases with their own MagSafe chargers.

Then it’s not mag safe compatible because their spec isn’t mag safe certified it’s that simple I just bought it myself and yeah my anker mag safe seems to work but the apple one does not

Just some heads up, my Quad lock case won’t work properly with my Anker 3 in 1 MagSafe devices. With some twist to certain angle (3-5 degrees only) you can make it work, then you can tilted your phone to any angle you want, but it lose the point for being convenience already. It’s easier just bring out the cable. If you are not fully invested into the ecosystem because you are biker or motorcyclist, highly recommended to check something else.

I have the same issue with the 15 Pro Max. Disappointing as both 13 and 14 Pro Max were fine? Quad Lock used to be the responsive start up…..they aren’t any more.

I have lots of mounts etc which I’ve accumulated over the years which are now useless. I spoke to QL and they don’t seem bothered. They’ve lost a customer and I started using the cases mounts in 2016. I guess they are too big for their boots 😂

Wow, i bought the motorcycle wireless charging head, with 12v to usb smart adaptor and i indeed have issues with it not charging my phone up. I had a A34 Samsung which doesn't support wireless charging and then for 1 ride i used my older S9+ which do have wireless charging without a mag case just the normal quad lock case and it charged up pretty well. I bought a S23 FE Samsung which supports wireless charging but only had MAG Cases available for that. So i just bought it and i notice that my battery just drops very slowly. Today for a ride with a group my battery was 32% and when we drove for like 30 minutes it was going down to 30%? Is this just because of the magsafe case??? I always liked quad lock..

Hey, not sure what happened with iPhone Pro15, I have Quad lock mag safe for my iPhone 13 mini for almost a year now and never failed to charge on my apple mag safe charger. The magnet is comfortably strong (so, not too strong that it is difficult to detach) I can stick it on a any flat metal signs or metal things on the street/park to take a selfie. Also very strong and secure on my bike. My cons: It is a tiny tad ticker than apple cases, and I just wish the material is as grippy as apple case, since, with quad lock, your phone is now an "action"phone which we sill hold and grab while "in action". Oh yea, also, Why only black color, Quad lock?
I've had charging issues with the Mag case all the way back to the 13 Pro Max.
Yeah, the solution would be using their wireless charger or charging using a cable (like a caveman). Problem is my wife doesn’t want to use Quadlock as she finds their cases too bulky. So using Quadlock car mounts is not a option. They should fix this asap.

The selling point of the quad lock MagSafe case for me is its flush was with the camera. You can actually set it down flat or plop it on a steal beam or fridge while you’re working. Can’t do that with Apple cases

@@ianvanessen9356 yeah. The Nomad Rugged case is the first one that springs to mind but there are plenty of cases that do it.
Thank you for the video! How can QuadLock get away with advertising a MagSafe case that does not really work? I have a 15ProMax and it is horrible across Apple chargers, Belkin and Anker. If I was not so heavily invested in QuadLock on all my bikes, sleds, cars, I would run this stuff through a wood chipper. One of the QuadLock reps said there are known compatibility issues, yet they still advertise and sell it as compatible. How about some videos for alternatives to QuadLock? Such a great concept and the stuff does work, just wish they spent some more time on actually testing and developing the product than all the marketing and excessive endorsements that the website is covered in. It is obvious where their priorities are.
I think their stance is to push their own chargers and accessories, even if they aren't MFi certified.
Watch this space on the Quad Lock alternative, i'm currently sourcing and testing products for this very thing. 👀
Because MagSafe refers to magnets. Not chargers. So they are within their rights to say it is MagSafe compatible based on the magnets alone. The charging aspect of apples MagSafe product line is considered separate from MagSafe

@@ianvanessen9356 Quad lock also says compatible with wireless charging. I am sure there are some that must work, but most including Apple do not. At least not reliably. My 13Pro worked pretty well in the QL case, but 15Pro does not. QL is shady on their advertising. They have a great product and system, just wish they were not so shady with their claims. They are obviously not a tech company. I tried their blue tooth dongle for car play and it is a total pos.

Why sell a mag case if you can't charge using Apple Mag Safe charger? Did they really not even bother to test it? Judging by how poor their customer service is, and the company itself will provide incorrect information during a customer service query, I'm not surprised.
So they can use the phrase 'have you tried our Mag charger?'

MagSafe is not synonymous with MagSafe charger. That defeats your whole argument. Quadlock is a business just like Apple and has rights to develop an ecosystem just as Apple does.

I can’t understand the purpose of a mag case for iPhone if it’s incompatible with MagSafe. Hence, the questions about the purpose of having such an offering if it’s useless. Honest question there. Can’t understand it.
My only argument wasn’t about their mag case itself, but rather that they couldn’t even recommend a BoM when I contacted them about my phone and the setup I wanted because their customer service was so bad and their knowledge about their own products so poor.

Labeling a product as Magsafe compatible which doesn't work with a large number of Magsafe chargers, that is misleading. Which is why Quad Lock took the Magsafe compatible out of their lisitng.

Just wanted to add my $.02... Just picked up the Belkin BoostCharge Pro, and it works with the Quadlock case.

I tested their floor model in the store, and it worked. Grabbed one off the shelf, and gave it a shot as soon as I got home. It's been on there for about a half hour now, and hasn't dropped off yet.
Someone said you have yo remove the ring and it works fine and you do a vid on that
If you remove the mag ring it won't be Magsafe compatible which is counter productive.
I brought quadlock mag adapter for Galaxy s21, and it doesn't work With quadlock wireless charger for motorcycle

You have to turn off the phone completely from time to time and it will work as designed. My phone had same issue but without a MagSafe case. Just using the standard wireless apple charger. My plug in port is damaged so it's my only option until I upgrade but it works perfectly after you do a hard restart. Just FYI, hope this helps others.

I had to abandon as well and have used the Quadlock mag charger since Nov. 2022. It is flawless. Connects every time and charges quick. Just a shame that third party and even some time the Apple puck does not work. @@MichaelsTechTalk

The trick is you just leave it until it stays charging haha .
It has hiccups at first and then it stays charging

I’ve had my iPhone 15 pro for about a month now. The non Apple brand mag safe charger I found on Amazon works flawlessly with my new Quad Lock phone case.
I've found this myself, the cheaper the charger the less issues that is had.
It could be just the case for the Iphone. After watching this i ended up getting ut for my s24 ultra anyways. It works on all my magsafe charger
Def doesn't seem to be many issues with the S24 version. Just the iPhone it seems.

i have this case for my 14 pro max, i use belkin magsafe chargers, they do charge however at extrema slow speed compare to other cases. i was very disappointed as they advertise it as magsafe competiable, however i would say that is a bit of false advertising. I contacted support, they just said there is nothing we can do to help you, we happy to give you a refund if you want to return the item, or you welcome to buy our own magsafe chargers

So older iPhones work, last models - don't work. :(

Now on my motorcycle iPhone SE2 work with Quadlock wireless charger and also work with apple magsafe charger.
Looks like I leave this phone for navigation when I ride and wait what QuadLock doing with newer phones.
iPhones with Magsafe have had 15w wireless charging from iPhone 12. Yes iPhone 15 is compatible with Qi2 but has always had 15w wireless charging with Magsafe.
Yes I hope Quad Lock switch to Qi2 but that won't be a fix for how thick their case is. They will have to adapt.

Magsafe is more than just charging though.
No-one is commenting on the fact his phone dropped from 45% to 16% overnight without him doing anything???? Sounds like an issue with the phone!!!
I can certainly answer that for you. When you have a phone on a wireless charger and it is not aligned properly with the charging coils the charger attempting to charge generates more heat between the charger and phone.
In turn, the excess heat generated can make the battery deplete faster. So in essence the case being too thick doesn’t allow a proper transfer of power between the phone and the charger and the excess heat generated depletes the battery.
