I am currently using the cheap lock with vib dampener and a quad lock case for the phone. Went through all road conditions, works like a charm. If using the cheap lock adaptor, replace the adhesive with a 3M VHB Tape.

I've used the "cheap lock" for over 2 years without any problems but i did change the double-sided tape for 3M VHB Tape. I also tested the "cheap lock" with a 50 mph slide crash and it survived without damage to the lock or phone. Bike didn't survive

Just buy a roll of 3m and cut to size.
Im using the cheap lock as well but I immediately use a 3M double sided tape for the adhesive since I don't trust the one that is included on the package.

I used the cheap lock + quadlock vibration dampener, traverse Vietnam from South to North for 20,000km over a month and phone still works.

Q4 2023: I got the cheaplock (actually called Pushlock here) and it already had a 3M VHB adhesive. It's around 10$ for both mount and cheap dampener. It's currently mounted on my MTB. Only been using for a month though, but so far it really works well and the build quality feels great. On rough riding, it's stable and it holds the phone pretty solid.
Edit: the pad is installed on my plastic phone case. If anyone's wondering too; the adhesive's thickness is 1mm

I love your tests guys! Thorough, informative, and entertaining. About the adhesive test, for both quad lock pulls, the rope was looped over the mount itself so was not testing the adhesive (perhaps an editing issue), and it actually resulted in a broken phone in the last test. The Cheap Lock had the rope looped next to the mount so did actually test the adhesive. FWIW, I do have the Cheap Lock with dampener, your test gave me confidence in the purchase and its been working well for several months.

Great case and mount but it is flawed as it doesn’t charge with my Audi wireless charger or apple wireless charger or my wireless stand, in fact it doesn’t charge with most other wireless chargers only Quadlocks own devices!! Very disappointing from that perspective, I did try to get in touch and did have a online chat but was told exactly what I just discovered above, so they basically said good luck but only our chargers are recommended, pity they take such a poor customer service stance. But great case just don’t expect it to charge.
so anyway you have to buy both cheap and original to combine stronger parts, sounds more expensive 🤣😆

For the rope test. With the quad lock, the rope was on the bracket. For the cheap lock, the rope was off the bracket.

Will be buying a genuine Quadlock vibration dampener but see you can get cheap versions of that too now.

A phone is anywhere up to $2000 dollars but the average phone is close to the $1000 in Australia unless you buy a cheep one and so do not care about quality. The quad lock is certainly more expensive but it won't break the bank. I have lost a cheap gps using the ram mount while accelerating on my ZX14. So for me I will only buy the Quad Lock. Saving pennies and risk losing $100s of dollars is a false economy.
Same here, plus you can use magnetic charging with the quad lock case. I doubt that works with a the stick on mounting bracket

You are right. As Mark mentioned in the video. There are many benefits to having a brand's support. Things like warranty and customer support might play a part in the overall experience as well!
Quad lock is priced ridiculously for a phone mount. People that buy the original must have money to burn. I don't also agree with the "buy the Quadlock cause of the branding". It failed to win on any of the tests so back to my original point about price. Buy the cheap one and replace the sticky pad on the mount with some 3m tape!

Expensive is pay for quad lock engineering team , don’t forget their effort for product design , manpower , knowledge of engineering. The copy cat product is thief , they earn money without any effort .

So seems like the way to go is official quad lock phone case and vibration mount with the cheap lock to save some money...too bad I already have the quad lock one, could have saved a few bucks

I just ordered a cheap lock. Holy smokes I’m shocked. I loved my quadlock on my mtb bike…but by god now I am getting the cheap lock for my motorcycle

I use the cheap one, and they work really great. Easy to install. I also installed it with the vibration dampener on the cheap one works good. Taken many videos with my phone mounted to the bars with no vibration issues. The mount pad on the cheap one works good if you let it set. I've had it on my motorcycle for 2 years now without any issues. It's never fallen off
I loved your review and testing. I would like to say the vib damper from quad lock is meant for Higher Rpm vibrations i don't know the specific vibration frequency that causes the camera on the phone to freak out i do know its not below 1000 Rpm. I would like to see that test hehe :) cheers
Amos has since stopped mounting his phone on the bike as the camera has died on him multiple times. he used to mount the phone on the bike everyday when he rides. apparently due to the vibration from the motorcycle :(
I’m using a fake quad lock with a real quad lock case, funny enough the case was more than I paid for the lock itself lol.
I live in a 3rd world country (UK) and the anti vibration works amazingly well (also needed) with the ridiculous amount of potholes here

Love this video! I liked and subscribed just because this video was great! I am currently in Brazil, and quad locks are hard to find and expensive, but the alternative is for everyone. I did replace the double-sided tape of the alternative with 3M double-sided tape and haven't had any issues for months! I am very impressed. It is also great to know that quadloack products can be used withthis set up as well. THANK YOU!

Just one thing. The vibrationdamper removed high frequency vibrations and the phones accelerometer cant measure that high of a frequency. So that test isn't realy saying anything. The rest is interesting tho :)

I wanted to see you try the vibration damper on the cheap lock. That should have been the lowest vibration of all.
Does the Original Quadlock vibration dampener fits the cheap lock??
Yes. It does. Just installed both together and there are no issues. Loctite is missing on the bolts shipped with the cheap lock so make sure to apply some before / during install.

I use quadlock as well there phone case but im not empress vibration is still there😩so i try the cheaper one im amaze it holds properly and did not vibrate...what i did in the is i preheated first adhesive before i put it and hold very well i run 132kph and its still hold...if you have a money go for the quadlock but if you dont have its better the cheaper one...the end of the day no body will look at it😊

That just proves quad lock is a massive rip off! Very impressive tests you guys did and now everyone knows there are better alternatives. If you are going to spend big money than buy Rokform.
thank you for appreciating the video. we are just trying to answer our own questions, it looks like the cheap lock is a complete knock off, and we wanted to see how different the two really are. one thing to note is that there were alot of R&D put into developing the product and it costs money, and we can't take that away from them
Or just use a Sheltis case ready for the ram arm which I already had. ;)
The plastic composition with handle absorption of vibration differently. Hard and more durable quad sends more vibration through but will be less prone to failure.

I understand trying to save money but I can't knowingly buy the knock offs. Theft of intellectual property is killing many innovative start ups and it happens so quickly after all the effort and expense is paid by the original developers.

And the message was there is a real quality difference but at a huge cost for marginally better performance. A lesson the Quad guys should learn. I am a solutions engineer in rugged computing and edge AI systems. I fight the value argument with management and sales often.

The premium product has an r&d team to fund, including the multiple failed product revisions to get a quality product to market. The cheap one just has a rip off department. Knock off will never innovate just imitate
Thanks for doing the tests we all wonder about when we see the considerably cheaper quad lock alternative replica products. I have a quad lock pre loved mount coming in the post with new replica versions of the dampener and stick on case adapter but I'm thinking now that I will eventually get the official quad lock adapter or update the tape so it's good to know the performance of the replica model adapter is likely to be sub par before hand. Thank you for your efforts I will be subscribing to your channel as I like your team's camaraderie and the content you produce.
Well, If I was engaged in a pull-the-phone- off-the-bike competition, this video might be helpful but testing a product for a failure mode that essentially can't happen in real life is rather pointless. ;)
I use the cheap quad lock. Very good. I mounted the adapter to my other phone case with superglue, which has a flat back good for glue. Phone stayed on while mountain biking, never once came like a bit loose or seemed to fall off. Actually rock solid.
Quad lock itself is great, but knock of is exactly the same, besides being red instead of blue, but who cares anyways.👍🏻😅
We should be supporting quadlock that actually spent the time and research into making these products rather than copy-cats off Aliexpress.
The quadlock mount "failing" from a pull test is a far from intended purpose. You're better off doing a long term test (eg daily use, wear and tear) and impact force simulating a crash.
Agree with you about the time and research put into the product! We were just really curious how the knock off would perform!

Have friends with quadlock and they love it... I can't bring myself to buy such an overpriced product. If they were even $50 (still WAY overpriced) I'd just get it... but over a hundred bucks for a few dollars in plastic... just can't bring myself to do it.
However... I'd also not buy a knockoff, companies that just steal the ideas of others piss me off.
Have you guys tried the generic version of the vibration dampener? There are versions of it everywhere that’s much less expensive compared to quad locks

**Stares at the cheap lock and wonders why it failed more quickly than Quadlock**. That'll tell you ALL you need to know about homies mentality! lol. Try Rokform and their setup, vibration stabilizer, and crazy strong magnets.
Quadlock is not too expensive for being such a solid system. I'd never use the 3M attachment though. Only the case. I have the wireless charger and dampener.
Do you have universal adapter? I am looking for prof if wireless charger works with uniwersal adapter.

The cheap one pad works great you just didn't let the adhesive set good. I've had that pad on my phone cover for 2 years.And I can't pry that thing off for the life of me without destroying it.
when you crash on a bike the handlebars will most likely come in contact with the ground so your drop test doesnt really complete the test you are basically testing riding along and then suddenly coming to a complete stop.
the cheap lock, maybe the price is cheap, but the quality is expensive. I Might plan going for cheaplock rather than quadlock
I don't like these motorcycle mounts that require one of their cases to use, switch phones, and you have to buy another one of their expensive cases. I have a Tackform with the extra wide clamp, and it holds my Note 20 Ultra in an OtterBox Defender case, no problem. I can use any case, or no case.
Yea agree with you there is a little bit of inconvenience due to the design of the locks. Always two sides of a coin. The more universal ones are usually 'bulkier'
Let's change our thinking a little bit. We're trying to save a few ringgit on the phone holder and accessories that we bought in the first place to protect our thousand ringgit phone... To be honest, if my phone were only a few hundred ringgit, let's say a Xiaomi Redmi phone, I might go with a cheaper lock 😅

Loved it when the Glass case failed.... Still not sure who tied on the rope when you were trying to get Adhesion failure because the rope was tied around the base instead of just the phone case. All in all, this was funny to watch.

The quad lock case is absolute garbage , I pulled off my Lifeproof and the first time I dropped my phone it broke the screen, my buddy also said the same thing .
But it does work as intended once locked , just don’t drop your phone
I have the cheap lock, I have directly stitched the support through my case ! It is rubber so you just need a strong needle and 15 minutes 😊
I use the cheap lock + quad lock phone case, speeding, off road no problem everything also can. Cheap material? Maybe but it hold my phone more than my ex gf hold my hand.
Well, I appreciate the video, but I think you coulda done these tests without using the actual $1,000 phones. You could have just used dummy phones or weighted cases, and I'd have been just as happy. It hurt to watch that 13 Pro get cracked.

All phone mounts kill OIS in cameras, even with dampers.
Quad lock case has no grip lines. Unbelievably smooth case. Be prepared to drop your phone a lot.

Guys, you test the original quad lock sticker, but you put the rope over the plastic piece, the rope should be on the phone only to test the glue... Cheap lock had nothing to envy to original quad lock...

I wanted the quad lock till seen the price then see this cheaper one its still going strong all i done was buy some 3M tape for the mount amd holds up perfectly with the cheap mount and damper
As a biker I can tell you that the experiment should have be done on the move NOT like that.
On the road u add the engine vibration to the movement itself and the attrition on the road, It can make a lot of difference.
