It helps me to put on the sound of the “study with me” girl the white noise is better for me then music bc even instrumental music is distracting for me

Thank youuu, I'm 19 and I feel I'm still 16 bc there's no way 2019 was 3 years ago. Anyway, I'm doing therapy but getting diagnosed it takes so much time. I'm sure I have ADHD, and although I'm AMAZING at planning and organizing everything, I mean I lived 19years like that as a GIRL so I needed to learn that bc different from most boys, no one never helped me with that, I still CAN'T do the things, I'm Frozen and I need help😭

owww I rlly do hope you got your diagnoses and that you get the help you need! Sometimes people forget that girls with adhd can overcompensate by becoming overly organised, it's honestly shocking how little attention adhd in girls gets...

i am literally in the exact same position as u rn 😭 19 year old girl who still feels 16 because of the pandemic and known for being super organised and using a dedicated planning system ( i’ve been bullet journaling since i was 12 )
i don’t have a formal diagnosis either, and feeling just as thankful for this vid like …

I feel sooo related! Thank you! Also, Pomodoro worked for me, but usually I can't take the breaks. It takes me 1-2 pomodoros to get real work started, but then I just ignore the breaks for 3 hours, so it gets messed up :D Also, I'd like to recommend everyone an online pomodoro timer, or a timer where you can add your to-do list, but you don't have to sign up. I realized that if I'm not signed up, I'll be more productive, because I'm trying to do everything on the list as soon as possible, because I'm always afraid I'll lose that to do list when I shut off my computer, or accidentally close the page, or the wifi stops working, etc. And with signed-in ones, I don't have this feeling of racing, because my tasks will stay there for months or years too, so no need to rush, they won't go anywhere, only if I complete them... I don't know if that makes sense... :D

Song with lyrics actually distract me while I am focusing on a task. Instrumental music helps!

  • @eiicsts
    @eiicsts ปีที่แล้ว +1

I don't know if this will help someone but I've found it helps me (tho I'm undiagnosed, but I'm pretty sure I have adhd because why else would I ROCK myself in the middle of my uni classes just to focus better)
Listen to Minecraft music. I have Sweden on repeat for hours and it helps me so much (up to a certain point, ofc)
Also, if you can, take breaks to move yourself but, like, a lot. I prefer to study in the library because I am more productive when there's other people around, but when I study at home I take breaks to just dance in front of my mirror. I dance for as long as I need until I'm not feeling that imperial need of moving and then I get to work and I am more focused!
Have a snack you can pick on, usually I have popcorn or carrot sticks or a drink :) nothing to messy that you need to stop for a whole second to eat
Chewing gum helps me not chewing my cheeks instead, which apparently a lot of people with adhd do.
Also, don't be afraid of steeming in public. I still stim little in public trying to mask when I would love to just jump up and down on the spot but I'm trying to mask less and move more whenever I need to. I hope I can get a diagnosis soon to explain my friends lol but if you have the right people by your side, they won't judge you, and if they aren't the right people, well, why would you care about their opinions anyway? That mindset helps me tho I know I get looks when rocking during class :p
When reading long texts, highlit specific words with colors that you like and try to write mind maps about the info that you're reading. When you go back to reading your notes, for example, important words will be highlited and everything will be much more visually appealing so it will be WAY easier to read than if you highlighted everything or didn't highlight at all! Also using a color code makes it easier for me when theres different types of info involved :)
    Much love!!

Watched this and feeling so emotional as being understood/relating on all of this - so entirely - I woke up this morning at the age of 34 and something prompted me to look up the signs of ADHD - I have every single one so completely - and everything you've said here are things that I've always struggled with, endless discussions with my partner and managers at work trying to brainstorm how I can change &/ be more productive - all these issues come up but I had no idea - I know it's dangerous to use Dr. Google or try to self diagnose so I will be consulting my real life Dr. etc. but thank you for this video! Helps me to feel less of a failure :) (side note, I also have chronic fatigue so always assumed that I couldn-t possibly have adhd as I so often have no energy - and yet all of my struggles getting the day to day done suddenly fit)

Thank you, your video helped me quite a lot. I just recently (25 years old), discovered that I have ADHD after seeing a video about it. And your video helped me to learn more about myself. Haven't had the means to get it properly diagnosed yet (hopefully can next month, if I have the means to do that). I used to blame myself all the time and thought im just lazy. And without any knowledge of ADHD I actually used some of the methods u described.
Sorry if I made any mistakes typing. A lot of the times my brain thinks that I've written some words, but in reality I had skipped some words or not finish some words, cause I tend to get distracted by my own thoughts mid sentence and so my mind starts to wonder while typing. Especially when I'm typing about smth formal.

I am not diagnosed but the more I learn about it the more I'm certain that I have it. I could tick nearly every box for the symtoms you mentioned and a lot of the techniques you've talked about have already worked for me.
What nearly made me cry was when you talked about cleaning the room. I never knew that other people struggle so much with it too! It's kinda relievieving but also sad at the same time. I wonder if I should try to get diagnosed in order to maybe get medication?
