You may not realize how lucky you are to have found out you have ADHD at 18. You have your whole life to learn to manage it. I am 58 and I am convinced, from what I have watched on youtube and what I've read, that I have always had ADHD. I need to get officially diagnosed, but I am 99 percent sure - all the symtoms are there. And my life has not been optimal, to say the least. Perhaps if I had been aware of this from a young age I would be in a better place in life. Thank you for your videos ( this is the 2nd one I've watched).

All of this was so relatable. I graduated university, but I remember the time how I was struggling with all my classes, deadlines etc(in my country there are too many classes, that you should study, and we can’t choose) I wasn’t diagnosed in that time, but then I started to figuring it out, and understood that I might have ADHD (I’m still not diagnosed). But after figuring it out, all my struggles started to make sense. Thank you for sharing your experience and showing, that is okey, to not feel good all the time. I hope you’re doing well and feel better nowadays❤

this is probably the most relatable experience with adhd to me. Im in my second year of A-levels and beginning to plan for university soon and it just feels fucking impossible for me. I feel too weak and too fragile to be able to do things like that with such high stakes i cant help but feel like its all gonna go horribly wrong. I also agree that while loving the positive side of adhd is great and all, it impacts every. aspect. of my life negatively some way or another and its so frustrating and makes me so angry and sad that people dont care to understand or listen or take me seriously ik this was a year ago but thank you so much for posting this video, none of us are alone

I am not diagnosed but the more I learn about it the more I'm certain that I have it. I could tick nearly every box for the symtoms you mentioned and a lot of the techniques you've talked about have already worked for me. What nearly made me cry was when you talked about cleaning the room. I never knew that other people struggle so much with it too! It's kinda relievieving but also sad at the same time. I wonder if I should try to get diagnosed in order to maybe get medication?

  • @pactrarc

Thank you for posting this video. I am a 50 year old guy who was just told last week that I have ADHD and I can relate so much to everything that you said.... everything. And I am now telling people that I have ADHD and they are like yeah we know!!! weve always known!! I am like seriously!!!! like WTF!? Why did none of them tell me this before now? or tell me to go to the doctor and get diagnosis? So that I could get the help and tratment that I needed sooner! I am so totally gutted.... upset..... angry..... bewildered and confused that not one of them thought to suggest to me that I go and get a diagnosis or some help. I have spent the last 50 years of my life both thinking and being told that I was stupid and lazy and a waste of space and I have never ever fitted in, when all this time I could have been diagnosed years ago and been treated for it. So I truly understand your rant....

This is my first week on Ritalin 10mg twice a day (Medikinet in EU), and the journey is wild! First two days were incredible. I felt just like I used to feel whenever I felt very good unmedicated (but still with ADHD symptoms affecting my life), but the 3rd day was rough and I had no idea what had gone wrong. While my symptoms were 50/50 alleviated, I was depressiously anxious, agitated and worried, no motivation but still could focus and do things. On day 5 I've upped the dose by 5mg, and it is much better. I guess it will be a trial and error until the desired optimal effect where I feel good and stable and my ADHD symptoms are alleviated. So far the meds have been an absolute life changer. <3 My anxiety and depression and PTSD symptoms seem to be almost gone. I can actually rest when I want to and my body feels good, I'm becoming more and more confident and HOLY HELL - I never realised that I might actually be an ambivert or even exrtovert (always thought I was a huge introvert). I actually want to speak to people, get to know and like them, keep up meaningful and prolonged conversations, ask questions etc., not just be stuck in my own 100x racing thoughts, unable to listen or focus on the convo and unable to properly respond besides "Oh!" or "mhm!" as I try to process something that is said to me. Now it's almost instant and I can freely ask followup questions and be engaged!

Appetite is very important. Not eating enough would make rebound etc much worse. If possible, try to balance better focus with minimizing side effects. Good sleep, eating well, avoiding too much sugar (sugar crashes), naps if you need them, drink enough water. These are very important for adhd meds to work properly. So if meds are causing you poor sleep quality or poor appetite, you can experiment to see how you can work around it. Like eating lunch and dinner after your meds have worn off. If you’re taking two pills in the morning, you can try taking one pill then have breakfast, and take the other one after your breakfast so it affects your appetite less etc. hope this is helpful.

I don't know if this will help someone but I've found it helps me (tho I'm undiagnosed, but I'm pretty sure I have adhd because why else would I ROCK myself in the middle of my uni classes just to focus better) Listen to Minecraft music. I have Sweden on repeat for hours and it helps me so much (up to a certain point, ofc) Also, if you can, take breaks to move yourself but, like, a lot. I prefer to study in the library because I am more productive when there's other people around, but when I study at home I take breaks to just dance in front of my mirror. I dance for as long as I need until I'm not feeling that imperial need of moving and then I get to work and I am more focused! Have a snack you can pick on, usually I have popcorn or carrot sticks or a drink :) nothing to messy that you need to stop for a whole second to eat Chewing gum helps me not chewing my cheeks instead, which apparently a lot of people with adhd do. Also, don't be afraid of steeming in public. I still stim little in public trying to mask when I would love to just jump up and down on the spot but I'm trying to mask less and move more whenever I need to. I hope I can get a diagnosis soon to explain my friends lol but if you have the right people by your side, they won't judge you, and if they aren't the right people, well, why would you care about their opinions anyway? That mindset helps me tho I know I get looks when rocking during class :p When reading long texts, highlit specific words with colors that you like and try to write mind maps about the info that you're reading. When you go back to reading your notes, for example, important words will be highlited and everything will be much more visually appealing so it will be WAY easier to read than if you highlighted everything or didn't highlight at all! Also using a color code makes it easier for me when theres different types of info involved :) Much love!!

  • @karadarkhart1013

I feel sooo related! Thank you! Also, Pomodoro worked for me, but usually I can't take the breaks. It takes me 1-2 pomodoros to get real work started, but then I just ignore the breaks for 3 hours, so it gets messed up :D Also, I'd like to recommend everyone an online pomodoro timer, or a timer where you can add your to-do list, but you don't have to sign up. I realized that if I'm not signed up, I'll be more productive, because I'm trying to do everything on the list as soon as possible, because I'm always afraid I'll lose that to do list when I shut off my computer, or accidentally close the page, or the wifi stops working, etc. And with signed-in ones, I don't have this feeling of racing, because my tasks will stay there for months or years too, so no need to rush, they won't go anywhere, only if I complete them... I don't know if that makes sense... :D
