    $1600 for a battery and alternator. Holy crap. Yeah ok!! Someone be smoking something good over there at the GM Dealership! But man I feel you on these SUV's, Chevy had a great idea but these vehicles are nothing but problems. Great video and overview of everything you experienced!

    I have 241k on my 2012 FWD traverse and the only things besides normal maintenance I’ve had to replace was the alternator, motor mounts, water pump, power steering pump, and finally have to change the radiator as of recently….. everything started at 170k but not all at once I have no complaints

    I don’t take my Chevy Traverse, (2021), back to the Chevy dealership unless it is covered by their warranty. I find my own trusted shops and that’s who I use. I do not trust the dealership. I feel your pain.

    I’m with you on this. It’s seems no Chevy dealership wants to fix anything. Really think they have idiots working for them. Can’t get anyone that knows what wrong with my traverse which is shuddering on acceleration. I’ve seen lots of people online with the same issue and it should be a recall. But those idiots just keep charging for stuff that isn’t even the real issue. Thanks for the video!

    • @youdagoob
      @youdagoob 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It needs a torque converter replacement. My 2012 Enclave had the dreaded shudder. Replaced the torque converter and problem solved. But it’ll run $2000-3000 depending on the shop.

    I have a 2013 and have replaced the alternator twice and multiple batteries. I now know its the traverse itself causing the issue. All the diagnostic machines can’t pick it up. Thanks for this video now by backyard uncle can have somewhere to start.

    I feel you. I have a 2015 Traverse that has a wrist numbing steering wheel shake at 40-65 MPH. Chevy dealership has looked at it 3 times. They can't find the fix and typed on the work order, "no solution found" and told me to take the car. I contacted GM, I have had 3 different GM Customer Solution people say they are handling the issue. Been 4 months since the dealership first had the car there for this issue. Ford is looking real good right now!

      I don't own a Chevy Traverse but I DID have your exact same problem on my GM vehicle when I first purchased it used...I replaced the whole front end myself all the way down to the wheel bearings and STILL had a terrible "shimmy" in my steering wheel @ pretty much anything above 40mph...I had one local tire shop tell me that one of my wheels had excessive runout in it & he could barely spin balance it. All of the wheels had curb rash on them so I decided to buy all new wheels & tires online and had that same tire shop install them...STILL had the shimmy @ 35+mph...it wasn't until I learned about road force balancing that I FINALLY got to the root cause of this issue...I took my wheels/tire combo down to DISCOUNT TIRE CO. who performed a road-force balance to all 4 of my wheels and VOILA' It was literally that simple the shimmy was gone gone gone 100% and has not returned! Just a suggestion if you're still having this problem; you've probably only been getting a basic spin balance from your local Joe's tire shop & what you actually need is a more thorough & complete balance on all 4!!(assuming that everything else on the suspension still checks out & your steering rack isn't worn & your wheel bearings don't have any excessive runout) Hey it worked for me & I DO recommend Discount Tire b/c they told me that RFB is the only type of balancing they even perform these days!

    The Buick Enclave is basically the same vehicle. What a beautiful great running vehicle with all the extras. We made many family trips and had it for 13 years....but starting at 45,000 miles we started having issues that included the following, some in warranty, some outside the warranty: power steering pump, rack&pinion, ac condenser, radiator, alternator, compressor, water pump 2x, struts 2x, ignition coil packs 3x, transmission failure, outer cv axels 2x, motor mounts 2x, starter, battery 3x, a lot of the repairs I did myself with the help of a shop manual,, forums, and youtube. The last straw at 228,000 miles the computer module shorted, shut the car down while driving on a major roadway. Replaced the computer, finally had enough and traded for another brand vehicle.... If you purchase one, trade in at about 30,000 miles...

    I feel you………. Some people are so blind & stubborn to buy “American” that they give ford, Chevrolet & Chrysler a pass for their cheap designs & builds…… not even realizing that some of those brands are built in Mexico. If people will pay thousands for crap cars, they’ll continue to sell them. Best reliable cars are foreign brands Toyota, Honda, etc., use better quality parts & built in USA too. Glad your bringing awareness to this issue with your story😁.

    • @DTaylorYoutubeChannel
      @DTaylorYoutubeChannel  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      People are so blind to everything it seems nowadays
      But I’ll stick to automobiles 😩 you’re absolutely right. American vehicles used to be good and worth it.
      Too many bailout programs for the automotive industry from different presidents since the “80s”…. They aren’t held accountable for the garbage they sell.
      Now it’s trickled down to the dealerships. The service is ridiculous and not even cordial. It’s so crazy.

    I had a similar issue with my 2009 Traverse. I would be stopped at a light and the engine would just shut off. Eventually I found out the fuse plugs were loose. So I had to take the original screws out and replace them with a long bolt and a nut. And I haven't had that issue since.

    My girlfriend and bought a 2014 Chev Eqanox well, whatever.
    Anyways, engine locked up. We took it to Sands chev. Dealer. In Glendale,AZ. We bought a new engine $4,500. It took a week. No problem. Pick it up drove it home. Got home, I pop the hood n check the engine. I check the oil level. The dip stick was dry as a bone. I called the service guy and told him. No oil in the car!!! Unreal huh. He said the mechanic forgot to ck it.. free oil changes for two years,
    After, that she sold the car. And yet! she got a 2020 chevy Traverse. I have the car oil change 4 times year. And every time they do oil changes i have to ck the dip stick, yes! Every time before i leave the dealership i ck the oil level and the dip stick barely shows oil on the end of the dip stick. So anyone has car oil change from anyone before you leave ck it.

This has made me a lifelong boycotter of chevy. Never again. And I do want to buy American...instead I have 2 kia's 3toyotas and an Acura. I have a 2013 Traverse, bought new. They had low coolant from the factory. I had to put over a gallon of coolant in a few years into my ownership, but had overheating issues months after I bought it. Other than that, 95K miles now and no issues except getting TCC issues with the transmission where when switching from gear 2 to gear 1 at intersections, it'll kill the engine, like an inexperienced manual transmission driver not knowing how to work gear 1 and the clutch. I have to drive in L and manually switch the gears to prevent engine shutoff. Going to cost $1.6K or more to repair... Apparently it's a known issue as I found one of the GM bulletin board notices saying so. The TEHCM has to be replaced. Miss my Honda Accords.

      My advice is don't be patriotic and stop buying American brands they make junk and are inferior to Japanese brands. You want quality and reliability stick with manufacturers from the land of the rising sun, like Toyota, Honda, Mazda, Subaru, and even some Mitsubishi models are better made than our own domestic manufacturers. I learn also the hard way not to buy from the domestic brands the Traverse is just a natural POS when compared to a Toyota Highlander or a Honda Pilot!

Tire pressure sensor came on, heater pump went out, windows are not rolling down from the main door, battery died during a extreme cold weather also only the air blowing out the dash board vents that hits the windshield and that's it for now. BTW how do I fix that? Because my other vents are not blowing out air. I'm ready to trade this car in, but I just paid it off last year. I have a 2012 chevy traverse. Say guy I feel you I got a 2011 traverse and I was having front end problems all under warranty I took my car to them twice they said they couldn't find nothing wrong with the suspension everything is fine I said you don't hear that clunking noise when you come in at the driveway they said no everything is fine your shocks are fine your control arm bushings and everything is fine I say okay I go home I end up getting my tires I had to buy new tires I pulled the tire off and the guy was putting them on and I'm looking at my ball joint the ball joint got to tear in it about 2 in you can look and see that all the bushings are dried and cracked Chevy just didn't want to take no time to do nothing I end up buying all the front end parts myself and putting them on myself

Your car was just been sat there at the dealership for weeks and finally call you back to pick the car up because they didn't even do shit to the car whatsoever.

    I worked for chrysler U.A.W. labor union late 70's I would not buy a UAW made new car. But there is money to be made if you know how to fix them. For sure. Dealers only want to work on warranty work. That way they don't get attitude from the common pay as you go public. They want $3500 to do a timing chain replacement when you can do it for under $600 plus your time.

    My traverse turned me into a mechanic because just about everything has failed on my 2010 model. The power steering pump plus there was a leak, the engine, the transmission, struts front and back, camshafts, frequent oil changes, window motors, fuel injector, camshaft sensors, every single bulb went out at the same time, the alternator, windshield whiper transmission... all that in under 1 year !. Now its failing me again and it has temporary plates on the back because the engine light came on again, and it can't pass the emnissions test ! The timing chain has to be replaced ! It's worth a shot & should be part of your routine maintenance schedule anyway; just be sure to perform the correct tb relearn procedure for your specific model if you remove it completely...the relearn procedure is usually outlined in the owner's manual somewhere or u could always look it up online
