Sounds about right. a car shop did this to me. So the next day I said just fix the belt and the tension rod. They also claimed the battery and the alternator. The tow man said it is a fuse in the starter but fell for the okie dokie and told me to fall too and took it to the shop. I think they get an incentive to tow in vehicles. The Auto Zone also tested it after I get tension rod and drive belt fixed but they couldn't come up with the old parts. They charged me $575 for it. I also got the brakes and rotors all 4 tires and was charged 650. I think they are dead set on pushing at least a $1000 out of each customer. The Chevy dealership said my brakes and rotors needed replacing but they charged $480 for front and $480 for back.

I have a 2001 Cherokee Laredo 4.0 inline 6 with SelecTrac and is the best car i ever owned, doesn't give problems at all; just regular maintenace and is keeping going and going.

I have a 2017, and I love it. Hondas do have a longer life span, but i needed the space. Just because they work there doesn't mean they know how to fix it . Especially if they work behind the desk, lol.

I own a 2010 awd. Its been a tank. Live in northern Maine. Goes great in the snow. Was hit front on by a 22 chevy Silverado. Didnt do to much. Got it fixed. A yr later it was backed while parked suring a snow storm. Went in to replace the bumper. 60 days later body shop says rear of frame is toast. Yeah. Ok. 180k not one mechanical issue. Just brakes never even changed the oil for the 3 years ive had it. Was my mother's till then. But its a accident magnet.

I have a 2022 and it runs great no issues and have gone on numerous trips We enjoy this vehicle

All off these traverse problems are a lie it’s a great vehicle people take care of the traverse then these problems won’t happen

I 'm a house builder here in Quebec but used to be a car salesman at a GM dealership when I was younger in the late 80's and one thing that surprised me was when I saw some Japanese men buying used Oldsmobile cars . I asked my boss why they buy those cars without trying them first. He replied ( They buy those and send them by ship to Japan to study what mistakes Americans make when building a car so they don't do the same ones ! This is a true story !! I want to buy American 2 I got a 14 Chevy traverse it's been great but now the engine won't start I cannot believe I get the car paid off and now it's dead in the water I take it to one mechanic in Albuquerque to fix it and they give it back to me not fixed charged me $1,500 for nothing I can't believe this

And if you go to the main TH-cam building to talk to them in person it is even worse. That building smells like pot.

I had the same problem on my 2010 Buick enclave took it to the dealer 600 bucks for refurbished computer and programming fixed the issue.

mechanics in dealerships work on flat rate ,they are under trained ,none are factory trained ,computers are now in all cars after 2008 .electronics are designed to fail after a said time .mechanics do not last at dealers .they leave because of the flat rate ,the warranty is half the pay of flat rate . other repair centers have no equipment to deal with the computers they cost 15- 20 thousand and must be up dated or replaces every so many years .software becomes no longer compatible to the cars . i feel all ones pain when your car needs fixing .a person fixing his car after 2008 is not fixing any thing .now with cheap china parts the parts you did fix is broke again .the new cars will not run if battery voltage does not maintain 12 volts under loads .some will not even turn over .its the body computer ,and the power control box that alot of problems come , i think its poor engineering but i have to rethink this because its designed to fail in a set amount of years . lots of things are being designed like that .washing machines and dryers .air conditioners. furnuses, farm tractors, ice cream machines ,it creates sustainable products .job creators .soon all you use will require your phone to operate it .all things will be computer run..

Right now my wife has a 2010 traverse. Pile of shit, 147k on it, engine gone. Jumped timing, for no reason. 5k for a used engine. Now we gotta scrap it.

Dealerships are parts replacer's by default. They should have said it cost $X amount to diagnose the issue then used diagnostics to find the ACTUAKL PROBLEM. But they did not. I have had this happen with a grand am and a malibu. The Shift to Park error I fixed myself with a pen tip.. and of course due to the method it required it done about once a year. But it only took me 15 minutes after the first time and saved me $300 to $1300.. anyways I investigate and found that GM was not the only one to have a shift to park issue. some foreign brands have the same issue. I found dealerships charged customers anywhere from $300 to $1300 to fix it and/or replace the shift assembly. All you need to do is bend the metal tab inside to make better contact. As usual when I take my time and research I can usually find the root of the problem and fix it myself or LEAD the DEALERSHIP to the REAL FIX. The problem is that dealerships operate on a for profit system and replacing parts is broken down really easy for them to be able to charge you and replace the part. They do not want to take the time to diagnose. I suspect but I do not know.. that most dealerships operate this way. If I was paid $30 an hour to figure out my problem then it may have cost $90 to $500 simply to diagnose... not so sure that many people want to spend that money on NO FIX... now if you were paying $1300 to replace a shift assembly and I could charge you $45 to simply bend the tab and get you say 6 months no trouble.. you would probably rather pay the $45 once every 6 months to 2years. I digress. Sad to say the young generation is problematic. Dealerships and everything these days is "fast food" mentality. Gone are the days of the "GOOD OLE DAYS" mostly because there is simply too much stuff on newer cars.. diagnosis is far more complicated. Real estate costs are high.. dealerships gotta turn people out to make a profit. I do think all dealerships need a troubleshooter/diagnostics guy for the electrical type issues or to somehow quit defaulting to swap out the alternator and battery. I did that on my Tahoe.. turns out I caused that issue by changing my dead battery in the -20 weather.. a cable got caught under the battery and shorted it out. I replaced 3 batteries at autozone/oreilly's before finally seeing a spark and finding it needed a $20 cable section replaced.. no more dash losing power on the road.. dead batteries.. etc when it's -20 out you change that battery asap as your fingers freeze in seconds!!!

I'll tell you what I think about it little Chevy traverse is a piece of crap me and my wife got a 2017 it was a problem when we first got it we had to get OnStar to take it back to Capitol Chevrolet here in Raleigh North Carolina every time we got it back it did the same thing over again I told my wife that it's going to have to go cuz I am not going to keep putting money into a vehicle that don't work we going to send it back to Capitol Chevrolet one more time and if it keep doing the same thing they can keep it I do not care if they put it down as a repossessed or not because it do not hurt my feelings whatsoever we already got one that already paid for

This happened to my 2012 traverse ltz had to change high Pressure Fuel Pump, fuel rail sensor and clean my fuel injectors at 128,000 miles. After that so far running better then before

I had the same year traverse. Biggest POS I've ever owned in my life. Same issues with the dealer not being able to diagnose anything and rude and overcharging! This has made me a lifelong boycotter of chevy. Never again. And I do want to buy American...instead I have 2 kia's 3toyotas and an Acura. I'd rather have a reliable car then save American jobs and have my wife broke down on a busy highway. Sorry America

I just went through this mess with a 2021 Traverse 147 thousand miles . 1500 for pcm . Took a month to get the part. 239 for chevy to program it. Got it back check engine light still on. Now need purge valve. Next rear passenger light and passenger fog light were out.

My girlfriend and bought a 2014 Chev Eqanox well, whatever. Anyways, engine locked up. We took it to Sands chev. Dealer. In Glendale,AZ. We bought a new engine $4,500. It took a week. No problem. Pick it up drove it home. Got home, I pop the hood n check the engine. I check the oil level. The dip stick was dry as a bone. I called the service guy and told him. No oil in the car!!! Unreal huh. He said the mechanic forgot to ck it.. free oil changes for two years, After, that she sold the car. And yet! she got a 2020 chevy Traverse. I have the car oil change 4 times year. And every time they do oil changes i have to ck the dip stick, yes! Every time before i leave the dealership i ck the oil level and the dip stick barely shows oil on the end of the dip stick. So anyone has car oil change from anyone before you leave ck it.

Then right they tell you that you can use creative commons stuff well the second day I used all creative commons content and yup got that second strike so that is a lie. Why say you can use creative commons content and you can't use it, because they will still give you a strike. Same issues here, nothing but problems since I got my 17 traverse, but I got it in 2019. 30k miles, immediately started with electronic, transmission, bluetooth, touch display, engine problems, on and on. getting rid of it now at 82k

ENGINE TIMING BELT SUPPORT DEFECTIVE IS THE WORSt AND the Main ISSUE IN THOSE ENGINES.
