    I was a Loyal GM fan only at one time, it was after a Honda product through a family member that I learned that a manufacturer can build a vehicle with only maintenance to keep it running. All the GM products I’ve owned were constantly requiring repairs many expensive ones. I will never buy a GM again and it’s been fantastic owning Honda and Toyota products. The G stands for Garbage.

I’m absolutely terrified to ever purchase another GM product and angry at myself for liking the Corvettes but luckily my Wife would kill me if I tried to buy one, I’m not wealthy anyway so it’s likely to never be a concern. Don't buy the newer Toyota trucks you'll be really disappointed. The 3rd gen Tacoma was garbage (howling rear diff, terrible automatic, fuel pump squeel of death at low mileage, engine failures, etc) and the number of total engine failures in the 2022 Tundra is shocking and quality control has been terrible.

I have owned 10 cars in my 87 years of life and never had problems with them, just normal service and wear. It is how you treat and drive your car. I keep my cars up to 15 to 20 years.. it is. How. In the 2 years he owned them they soent more time in the dealership then in his driveway! Electrical, engine and transmission issues! He WAS a chevy fan, but not after owning these 2 and the runaround he recived from the dealership and Chevy corporate rep!

    I'll feel your pain! I have a 2015 Buick Enclave AWD. 120K miles - replaced the transmission about 20K miles ago. My mechanic absolutely hates these vehicles. The Enclave is back in the shop as I write this trying to diagnose a vibration I'm getting at around 60MPH. We shall see...already replaced the front rotors and pads due to warped rotors that was causing severe vibration under hard breaking.
    Good luck!

    I bought a 2009 Traverse 8 months ago, paid $5000. The windows wont work had to buy a new oil module cost $400. New battery 2 months ago , also 2 months after I bought it I had to fix something dont remember what it was but that cost me $400. Now it needs an alternator and timing belt. All this for under a year and yes the engine lite has been on since I bought it and the tire lite. Before I put over $1000 more into it I am thinking I should sell it for parts and get an older car that is easier to work on. Right now I am driving my 1969 VW bug. Always starts and goes. I dont want to keep putting money into the Traverse. What would you do?

    @cub1009 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    Transmissions wear out over time. They need to be serviced or rebuilt. Depends on how many miles you are getting out of your transmissions. Less than 100k miles something is probably wrong.
    I've owned GM vehicles for the last 15 years. Never once had a single transmission issue. I ran a 1998 Silverado 1500 up to 250k miles with original transmission. The truck only needed replaced after an accident. I am currently on a 2006 Silverado 1500 with 160k miles and no transmissions issues yet.
    I always change my transmission fluid every 30k miles. That's every 6 oil changes I do the transmission along with it.
    Driving style, towing, road conditions, traffic, all play a role I understand that. Typically FWD designed transmissions aren't as good.
    I have a 2000 GTP that I have dyno'd at 350 whp and I have added after market performance parts to the transmission to increase durability and reliability.
    If you want a transmission to last, change the fluid often. Especially if you tow, or use it as a race car.

    I own a 2016 traverse AWD. At one point a fuse blew that led to brake lights not working, and some other weird random electrical problems with the head unit occur every now and then. At 78k miles the torque converter went and cost us a small fortune to repair. The automatic lights kills the headlights and we have to replace those bulbs every 9-12 months. Other than that the car is reliable and drives ok.

    You might want to put a cheap ($20-$35) transmission cooler on it and then find a way to monitor the trans temperature possibly through the OBD2 port. Those dongles work well along with an app. Keeping the temperature under 200 degrees just might extend its life...?

    in Canada I own a 2018 traverse LT FWD. i replaced transmission fluid 1st at 81K KM and 2nd at 150K KM, according to the user manual. at 153K Km, just 3000 after the second change, my reverse not working, not even at high rpms. it starts to give white smoke which has not scent like burning or whatever. in drive the vehicle doesn't engage gears between 2 and 3 when cold but after vehicle warms up for some time then the gears engage. i bought extended warranty so it's right now with the dealer and whole transmission will be replaced. i read online people say don't change or replace transmission fluid cos it will damage the transmission......but user manual says to replace it every 80K KM......whom to follow? i never had any problems with traverse since i bought it in 2018....thats the only issue i got this time.

      The 2018's and up have a great v6 in them believe it or not! They got rid of the LLT 3.6l FINALLY and went w/ an upgraded version of the LFX (i think it's called LFY but don't quote me) the problem is now they've mated it to an all-new 9 speed transmission that's been known already to fail in as little as 20-30 thousand miles!! WTH GM!?! 🤬

      I would recommend against it. Not only is it in inline 4 in a vehicle way too large for one, it's also turbocharged. GM *does not* know how to turbocharge properly, at least nowadays. Granted, I'm not a fan of turbocharged engines in general, but if I were to get one, it would not be GM

    • @xHadesStamps
      @xHadesStamps 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@jbone1383I like the look of the first generation (prefer post mid cycle face lift, due to having actual amber rear turn signals. It's also safer that way), but my goodness, is it laden with problems. Pretty sure the LLT is designed for indirect injection (and I believe the first year in production, it *was),* but uses direct injection--way too high pressure. Not a fan of DI in general, but this one takes the cake for the worst DI-ed engine.

    As an owner of gm built 3.6l lambda based suv - these are pure garbage. Even if you babied these suv - its still going to break- why? A combination of bad design and poor quality of parts . Tcm pressure switch is located inside the transmission, japanese cars however , they are external and easy to replace when it brakes - wave plates cost like less than $5 but since gm “forgot” to do heat treatment these plates - it will brake . The timing chain they use is as thick as bmx bicycle chains . I remember servicing a hardbody nissan teuck , timing chain is almost 3x thick as traverse . The wheel bearing they use are never meant to handle 4-5k lbs - so they break frequently as well. Power steering rack whines and leaks as well . Save yourself some headache and buy Toyota or Honda .

      May or may not be the most reliable, but the Chrysler minivans (especially third and fourth generations) are the most practical and versatile in existence, to my knowledge (the removable seating may require more work, but is still much more versatile than stowable seating, and allows you to carry more weight when not installed, due to them not being in the vehicle), and is far more reliable than this hunk of junk. I miss our Town & Country.
