Honestly, I'm not a huge fan. I thought Alien was great but Northlane, to me, has always been about ethereal ambiance on top of metal. I don't fault them for trying new stuff but yeah, I was hoping this new album would be more like Mesmer (my favorite by them).
@@jakobfel2 there are 9 songs we haven’t heard and Plenty and Clockwork don’t really follow the Nu-metal vibe like this song and echo chamber do. It’s okay that they have a wide range. Alien played with it and it came out very well.

@@jakobfel2 Gotta agree man, not a fan of nu metal at all. Sorta wish this resurgence would go away cause it really doesn't bring anything new besides having alittle bit of metalcore in it which has been done since like 2012 when bands started having small nu metal sounds in their music like OM&M
I love that while so many bands are trying to do the next "heaviest" thing in a song Northlanes just out making wonderful creative and stylish nu-metal / djent. The fact they didn't just "go hard" at the end when they could have is a testament to their creativity. They chose to let the song be what it was and not try to add a breakdown where it wasn't needed. Legends
I don't think northlane was ever about adding heaviness for the sake of being heavy. They used to be a band about taking beauty and contrasting it with that heavy and making something beautiful. Now they're just like repeat radio friendly chorus 5 times, add some weak chugs and call it a song

They sound like many other generic djent bands to me. The clean, melodic American style vocals absolutely kill it. Every single time.
This is the Northlane I fell in love with! Disgustingly good guitar tones, clean vocals on refrain, the bridge is banger too! So far this album will be my favourite metal album of the year, I can't wait for it!

I love when modern bands can capture the NuMetal and futuristic visual aesthetics from the turn of the century. Northlane has always been solid, but they been on a tear since Alien came out.
This could turn out to be their best album yet…and this is coming from someone who wasn’t the hugest fan of Marcus back in the day

So far the singles aren't topping the best of Alien for me but it'll definitely be one of their best albums overall

Obsidian will be unique on its own way too. I feel like comparing the both doesn’t really help because these 2 albums will be different in many aspects, nonetheless, I’m hyped.

Northlane: going where no band has gone before- true trailblazers of the "metal-something" scene, these days. I've loved all of their work and am so happy to see their evolution with Marcus. Alien blew my mind when it came out, and now Obsidian will be nothing short of epic.

Its insane how there is a night and day difference in the mix in comparison to echo chamber. This song has clarity, balance and punch as in the other hand the echo chamber was more like mushy imbalanced and muddy. Just my opinion though. Both songs are good and i'm really looking forward to the album.
