    I think the scale and posing looks really decent. They make the Terminators look properly big. But lack of options and customizability is definitely a big downside.

      Always can use the traitor guard kit to make some cultist proxy/additional options

    Still the best way to get GW minis for cultists is to pick up a Necromunda gang. £22.50 from a third party retailer and the best customization options in any GW kit, by far. The new Ash Wastes Nomad War Party box makes a stunningly good cultist box. Paint to suit your Chaos faction, and you're done.

    Love the models, poses and sculpts and they’re all unique. Very cool. Still, as you rightly said, cultists go in big mobs and being monopose it’s a minus. Definitely not easy to customize as they’re all topless. You will need some good skills with green stuff. Agree, it’s kinda of a missed opportunity. Great review, Sup3r! 👍🏻

    Really glad I found this, I cant actually find genuine reviews of the cheaper and lesser known boxes, love it!

    Thanks Sup3r, really appreciate you pulling out the old cultists for comparison. these old cultists really showed how badly a new cultists refresh was needed. Thank you mate, your channel is the best!

    I picked up a box on friday. This is a great add on to your cult that you already have, in addition, the spare parts go great with your other cannon fodder.

    Really nice models but the lack of customisiation options and body types (they're all jacked!!) is a let down like you say.
    Did manage to get a couple of daemonette heads onto the female bodies without much fuss which looks decent. I've mixed mine in with some GSCs and older/Blackstone cultists to make a nice horde of misfits!

    We should as a community issue an open letter to GW asking for multipose models to make a proper return. The recent Ork releases have been ridiculous, a mob army with monopose models, without even the option to arm your squad with the weapons you want for them... its just not good enough and actually put me off building an ork army when I returned to the hobby

    Highly modular kits are so much fun. Mono-pose sucks.

      Mono-pose would be fine if they where actually cheaper, like the start collecting Daemonkin... Buuuut you don't

    I love the Dark Vengeance Cultists (I've recently sourced 19 NOS to go with my existing ones (40 strong thanks to two sets of the Conquest Magazine issue with them!), and the Black Stone Fortress ones are nice, but the fact that set combined with this set only gives you 18 max (one on a larger base too boot) in this style is a great shame.
    Mind you, if you can get the Necromunda Outcasts set of 4 miniatures, you'll have your 20 cultists, though those Outcasts will stand out mind you....
    The really cool thing mind you, is Cultists are usable in Necromunda, so getting both sets of Cultists gives you a great Gang for that game system, and having miniatures usable in several game systems is always a win IMHO.

    I was really hoping the cultists, accured cultists and traitor guard kits would mean the Chaos Space Marine codex would finally allow us to bring back the "Lost and the Damned" armies that appeared back in the Eye of Terror campaign. It looks as if GW have missed an opportunity here. Considering how great the traitor guard kit is, this cultist kit is a big disappointment.

    • @darrenrichardson6146
      @darrenrichardson6146 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah a big gripe I have with the new codex is you can't have more Cultists than Chaos Marines? WTF, since when are Chaos Marines more numerous the cannon fodder mortals?

  • @SoRa228

    would be cool to try and kitbash them with poxwalkers for nurgle themed cultist i think

  • @anneliseolsen6896
    @anneliseolsen6896 ปีที่แล้ว

    These Cultists are deliberately designed to go with the Cultists of The Abyss from Blackstone Fortress/Cultists Warband box.
    That is why they look the way they do.
    And having two mobs of 20 Cultists each of the ones from Dark Vengeance, I can tell you that I am definitely considering getting a box or two of these, and two or three of the Cultists of The Abyss, as I honestly don't mind having twins, triplets, or even quadruplets of Cultists.
    They're cannonfodder and screening units for the Chaos Space Marines in my army.

  • @Obergfreighter
    @Obergfreighter ปีที่แล้ว

    I've been forced to round up every cultist I can find.. The Blackstone cultists and renegades, the Dark Vengeance cultists, these fellows, and soon the Kill Team traitors... Seventeen guardsmen, nineteen melee cultists, and nineteen cultists with auto-guns.. I am extremely excited to have an army someone can feel really amazingly strong against..!

    They look great. 10 monopose minis is kind of underwhelming but I have the cultists from Dark Vengeance and Blackstone Fortress Escalation so I'll just mix these new ones in. I hate having twins, so I won't be buying another set.

  • @Dasnubninja
    @Dasnubninja ปีที่แล้ว

    I prefer monopose. Duplicates aren't very noticeable in groups and I'd rather have two duplicates that are built perfectly because their made to slot together a specific way, than have two slightly different angles of arms that both look bad because I need to join 4 flat joints at a perfect angle.
    However I am VERY DISPLEASED that they don't have the option for firearms. Melee cultists are going to get in the way of my chainsword legionaries and possessed, so I want them holding back objectives. The only way to get firearms is to get two boxes of the necromunda ones, making a 50pt unit cost over $60.

  • @CrispyMyth

    Cultists don't get a heavy weapon option anymore? Used to be able to have a heavy stubber or flamer for every 10 models (I haven't finished the video, maybe that is addressed in the rules section of the vid).
    I thoroughly dislike when GW changes unit composition and invalidates models like that. 😞
    Aaand I finished the video. SO, they still have the option for a heavy stubber, flamer or grenade launcher (that last one is new). The box does not have those weapon options however. That is even more odd and bothersome...

    • @scoober1376
      @scoober1376 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can add flamer, heavy stubber and grenade launcher for 5pts each, and take a second of each if you have 15+ models in the unit

    • @heliusahmadian2711
      @heliusahmadian2711 ปีที่แล้ว

      they sell them in another box named Cultist of the abyss but with only 4 autogun 1 heavy weapon 1 grenade launcher 1 cultist champion with shoulder looking like the one from dark commune and 1 flamer character

    Welcome to new GW where minis are mono pose because if there were like old ones then 3 party part would work, but then gw would loss money

    • @Badbunny666
      @Badbunny666 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don’t know who came up with that theory, but it doesn’t make much sense to me. 3rd party bits mostly compete with GW upgrade boxes (SM chapter upgrades for example), if there is no room for upgrades then GW can’t make money from upgrades any more than a 3rd party manufacturer. After all, if you’re buying 3rd party bits, you still need to buy the GW box to upgrade in the first place.
      I think it’s simply the case that mono-pose models do tend to individually look better. Better looking models make for prettier box/website pics. Prettier box/website pics mean more people buy the models. And of course mono-pose models mean fewer unique sprues, which means GW can make more money. And finally, I suspect there are more people who will buy one copy of most box’s than people who will buy multiple copies of the same box.

    Yeah, that's a big waste of money... I was already annoyed to see that while the ladies are wearing those little breastplates and the guys are just... topless? like, why don't they have armor too? I'd at least want shirts on them. And also, why don't they have autogun options!?
    Also, GW shouldn't be afraid to have topless female options. They did it before, and I'd love to see modern minis do the same.

    • @rutgaurxi7314
      @rutgaurxi7314 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    • @LadyKjell
      @LadyKjell ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@rutgaurxi7314 They've had topless female models before. They just decided to go the way of the nipplephobe, foolishly thinking that it was a good way to reduce the sexualization, but really, seeing lady nipples as something that needs covering/not showing is what's really sexualizing.

  • @manofaction1807

    The over engineering is the biggest detriment to the new models.
