    Nice job, the horns on her mask give a not-Loki vibe, seems she could be used for other warbands, or also in a Mad Max scenario

      Those horns and their old school trickster god vibe are what inspired the colour scheme I painted these guys, heavily inspired by the current colour scheme (so more muted greens rather than bright and vibrant ones)

    Great job - I think that is my favourite paint job in the who-knows-how-many videos of yours I've watched. Beautiful

      Now that's high praise! She's certainly unique, I don't think I've done anything quite like her on the channel before.

    Looks awesome my friend. Glad you tackled this one. The mask on this makes me think of ancient Japan's Samurai.

    Looks really nice - the mask, horns, and hair reminds me of Raging Heroes "Demon Samurai" from a few months ago.

    A gun that looks like a fusion of the Russian PPSH and the American Ingram (LOVE the twin round magazines), Hellboy style horns on her mask, and a dirty great chain-sword :-) I think I'm in love :-D Have to get some of these now, after years of avoiding GW like the plague, but after seeing how you paint this mini, I'm a convert once again :-D Love all your videos, and learn something new every time. I just painted a mini that was so detailed my eyes watered at all the tiny details, but took my time, had regular breaks to rest my eyes/nerves, and finished it in just under 4 hours. It now stands proud amongst my growing Vampire Cult army as an assassin character, and really does add to my enjoyment of just looking at my minis, let alone playing with them :-)

    Fantastic that you did a painting tutorial on a chaos cultist. I just picked up the new box set of cultists that GW released. I also have two sets of the Blackstone Fortress cultists lying around… one from the box set released for the game and the others came with a Space Marines Adventure game. Plan and painting all of them up and using them in several games as, well, crazy cultists. Always liked chaos cultists more than the chaos marines. But then again, I’ve always been far more interested in the normal human soldiers and villains than the over powered marines in 40K. Can’t wait to throw a bunch of chaos cultists against some Krieg. Miniature turned out great as awlays. Her mask always reminded me of an Oni mask from Japan.

      Fully agreed: both chaos cultists and Imperial guard always seemed more appealing to me than their demi-god super-powered cousins.

    I've enjoyed starting from Army Painter Barbarian Flesh in the past. Been awhile, but it works.

    Lovely job on the cultist, looks very sharp!
    What I find helpful when painting cultists is to have a few main colours that I use for different cloth areas. A deep olive drab and a few shades of blue for example. Some cultists would have the olive drab used for their pants, others for a jacket or robe. That way you get a coherent look between your cultists, but they don't have the regimented look that would come from using the colours in a uniform fashion.
    Obviously this doesn't apply for single minis, but it's something I found helpful when painting a load of the buggers.

    I love these models (bought them for Blackstone Fortress back in the day) and I particularly like this tough lady. Top notch paintjob as always! Again I must disagree with the choice of basing... I picture these chaos cultists as living in hive/industrial worlds, so I prefer bases with mesh, pipes, etc. I love your choice of colors though!

    Thanks, boss. Im new to painting but I still find it daunting! I make sure I do it and don't mind my results, too much. The way you break it down is helpful and I think I might slap some colour on a mini today.
    If I could humbly request just one thing, it's MORE 15MM PLEASE !!!!!!!!!

      On the way eventually! Finding 15mm stuff with a broad appeal can be a bit of a challenge.

    We will control this entire world, a point at a time! I recently got this box; I rather like it, but miss the autoguns from their predecessors. I actually use them in Five Parsecs from Home.

      picked up the easy build ones and got these in the Doomsday Countdown board game - they might happen to function as 'The Brotherhood of the Iron Sun" in games of Stargrave (and probably 5 Parsecs when I get around to picking that up as well).

    Cool model, but I can't imagine painting huge batches of them for a full 40k game, they just have so much going on to do like 30+ of them

    With those who have tested the new shades and making Marine Juice, have you tried Contrast Medium instead of Lahmian?

    Very nice job Sonic, do you know an equivalent for barbarian flesh in citadel range ? Thanks in advance

    • @SonicSledgehammerStudio

      The closest paint colour is going to be Cadian Fleshtone, but that's not available as a primer. Better to start with Wraithbone and apply a couple coats of skin tone to, well, the skin, and then paint the rest over top.

  • @evilfuzzydoom

    Have you tested Targor Rageshade as an alternative to the Marine Juice formula?

    • @SonicSledgehammerStudio
      @SonicSledgehammerStudio  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I hadn't really considered it, it looks a fraction darker but a touch of medium might give a very similar effect.

    I still dislike these models. Organized cultists close to traitor guard levels are way more appealing than Necromunda gangers. Clean painting still though.

    • @theandf
      @theandf 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      To each their own. I like both, Traitor Guard and also the more religious/disorganized cultists. Both informed by the mental imagery conjured by Abnett in his Gaunt's Ghosts stories, where both kinds of chaos worshippers exist!

    " The best thing about hero Quest is the miniatures..... Back in the Glory Days before Games Workshop had been destroyed from within. There's not an inch of pretentious over complexity about them anyone can tell what these are from 500 yards away, and I know because I've tested this with a team of Russian ex Soviet scientists!"
