Hey friends! 🌞 We're in the middle of a heat wave here in the Finger Lakes, and it's way too early for temps this high! I was literally melting with sweat running down my back while filming this video. 😂 I have a box fan, but I couldn't run it because it would drown out my voice. That's how much I love you all-I was willing to melt in this heat just to bring you a new video! LOL
Today, we're talking about the best yarns for crocheting blankets. 🧶✨ But first, I'll chat about the factors I consider when choosing yarn. I hope you find this video helpful! Be sure to leave me a comment with your favorite yarns! ❤️
Stay cool and happy crafting! 🥵💦🧵
Xoxo,
Christine

Watching from Weymouth south of Boston, early February. Newbie crochet decent knitting.
Recently found you on TH-cam and so glad I did! Your patterns are lovely, and I will begin working on the Waffle crochet blanket as soon as the yarn arrives. First time using Hue & Me yarn and looking forward to it. Love this video and how you keep it real! Thank you!
I just discovered your channel here & so happy I did❣️
I learned to crochet as a kid & crocheted a good bit until after I had 3 babies & then had to go to work full time.
I quit crocheting for decades & now that I’m disabled I started crocheting again & trying to discover everything I never knew about crocheting, stitches, patterns & yarn! 🤯
I have an extremely tight budget & I live in the mountains of WV so I have to buy yarn online & I’m like you in the fact that I need washable & dryable yarn & not expensive.
I will check out these yarns & watch for sales & try them because I have made projects with cheaper yarns that say they are machine washable & dryable but after one wash they came out looking like they were 5 years old & frayed & faded…😱
Of course I subscribed to your channel & looking forward to making some of your patterns with the yarn you suggested❣️
Thanx again & blessings to all.

Hello,
I love Wool Ease, Thick and Quick. I have used this yarn to make cowls, mittens, and fingerless gloves. It works up well, and I enjoy the many colors to choose from. Thanks for sharing your favorite brands.
Hue and Me is my favorite for afghans. It works up so beautifully.. I appreciate your thoughts on the bulky yarns, Love the list❤ You crochet beautifully 😊
It's definitely a good one! 🤍
How about Lion Brand thick n quick? It’s like your fave but a bit more bouncy. Have you ever tried it?
@@coypu2005 Hello, I’ve seen that one, always curious if it is lay flat to dry or what, always get distracted to look and read the label.
@@coypu2005 never have tried it, I'll look into it, thank you.
Thank you sooooo much for this info! I struggle trying to decide what yarn to use in my projects. I’m so afraid that if I use the wrong yarn for my project, it will just be a waste of my time, money and energy!
Great information. I personally don't use or like thick yarns. I use DK or thinner. I use them for blankets and I love them especially Merino wool superwash
That's a great idea!
Love your shawl! ❤
This was really helpful ❤
You’re welcome! 😊
I love the yarn brands you mentioned
I'm new to your channel. Just watched your arrow stitch video. Lovely blankets you've designed.
Thank you!
Subscribed! Thank you so much for putting all the notes in the summary. I cannot tell you how happy I was to have everything listed & cross posted to purchase and pattern. I noticed some creators think we won’t watch the video if they do so but I truly believe it makes us want to watch more, subscribe & be loyal! The extra effort is truly appreciated. My goal is to make each of these blankets! List & shopping cart almost done ❤ Have to order everything online as we really don’t have much on our island. Much aloha to you & your ohana!
I'm so glad you found the notes helpful!
Hello, you should do a cabin tour too one day.
Does the Hue and Me hold up well in the washer and dryer? I’m thinking about using it for a baby blanket so I want it to be pretty durable
I've never had an issue with it, as long as it's the gentle cycle
When I was pregnant in summer with no A/C, I’d keep 2 spray bottles in the fridge and “mist” myself in front of box fan. Hope that helps.
That is a really great idea ! I’m always hot even though I’m menopausal 😂
The window behind you isn’t open. 😮😮
Hmmm... Seems I've wasted money on the red heart yarn. I'm just learning, but making a baby blanket... I found your video because I was just not happy with the feel of this yarn.
It’s ok! I know several people who love Red Heart. It’s not one of my personal favorites though.
@SpottedHorseDesign thanks for the response! My daughter bought me a kit that came with about 20multi color mini skeins. What do you do with so little yarn? It's very thin so not good for making animals or anything like that
