  • We had the pleasure of getting our hands on some of the Chemical Guys newest polishing compounds the C4 Heavy Clear Cut and the P4 Nano Polishing Jewelling Polish
    We compared them to our standard Sonax CutMax and Sonax Final.
    With results, we were happy to see.

    While others are bashing CG C4 and P4, thanks for objectively testing them with a top of the line Sonax.

    I just did Adam's Advanced Graphene Coating on 2 new cars (dealer detailed - arghhh) and in the prep I used Chemical Guys Orange pad and white pad paired with C4 and P4. One was a grey VW ID4 which has a moderately hard paint I would say and took a lot of pressure and passes to get rid of some of the swirls using C4 and Orange pad. One was a Black Honda HRV and it was soft paint and I almost needed to polish last again with P4 with a Black pad because even white pad would leave some marring. Anyway, the bottom line is as a newbie if I was doing it again I would have used a microfiber pad on the VW with C4 to cut a bit faster and get rid of those scratches faster. On the Hinda I would have stayed with Orange pad with C4 and do the P4 with white pad but with almost no pressure on it. I really need to get that microfiber 6 inch pad. I was using TorqX from Chemical Guys for the DA. It took me a couple of days to get each car prepped. So basically 5 days of total prep work on brand new cars. Swirl marks everywhere on them and their detailer at the dealers were awful. I could see scratches they put on the car.

    I haven’t used either of those but I am gonna try them soon, I know a lot of you out there are not big fans of chemical guys, while I don’t like all of their stuff there are a few that I really like the thing I don’t like is that they have too many products that are supposed to do the same thing, I think they should slim their line down a little, quality over quantity

      Our problem with Chemical Guys and others similar to then. Is the higher cost versus other brands that perform better for less cost.

    I’m a beginner planing to use the chemical guys c4&p4 and On the chemical guys they recommend high speed setting is that correct or a mistake bc seems everyone use low speed ..

    • @p2pautodetailing550
      @p2pautodetailing550  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      High speeds destroy the pads quicker, induces unnecessary heat, and wear on the machines. If you have to use a speed higher than 4, then your not using the right pad and cutting compound.

      @@p2pautodetailing550 I would say 5 or 6 with C4 on CG own TorqX. I think it is more close to 4 for other brands. I just did two cars with it and 4 would have definitely not worked well. So if you have a polisher like a Flex or even Griors G9 then perhaps 4 for cutting is fine. Not on CG TorqX from first hand experience.

      @@aaronaaron9087 for waxes I've not found one that is easily accessible to get that I'd be happy with.
      Soft Fuso 99 would be my go to of I had to use a wax.
      But I'd rather use a spray sealant that has Si02 or Graphene in it instead. They are easy to apply and Buff clean. Most will last as long as any paste wax but typically nicer finish.
      Check out Extreme Solutions Jersey Devil or Topper for starters. Then there is the Geyon Can Coat that is amazing. And finally my favorite of all is IGL Premier.

    i don’t know why but i had a horrible experience with C4, it was insanely hard to pull off it stuck to the paint like an oil. i'm not sure if it was the environment, temperatures in my garage were low 100's

    • @p2pautodetailing550
      @p2pautodetailing550  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yeah in the temps above 90 you will notice that it will flash rapidly and become much harder to work with and have less working time. keep a spray bottle of water by your side. Just do a quick spray of mist over the area after each section pass and it'll make it easier to remove and but increase your working time as well.

      That’s tell tale sign that you are trying to do too large of an area for the amount of compound you had applied. Work a smaller space for that amount or add more when you reach the point where it started to stick.

    What combo would you use on a 2016 Honda HRV black. I believe the clear coat is soft. It scratched very easily in a car wash. I’m looking to cut/polish or one step possible and then apply CarPro CQuarts 3.0 twice. What combo would you recommend sir? Thank you!!

      @p2pautodetailing550  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Dakota, without being able to see the condition of the paint and or do a test spot ourselves. Our suggestion would be to start with the less aggressive polishing pad and compounds.

      Hey! I can’t find a legitimate answer to this question... would you recommend the V line or these two new chemical guys products? Not entirely sure what the difference is

    • @p2pautodetailing550
      @p2pautodetailing550  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TheRebaholic01 There isn't a straight answer to that question.
      Every vehicle's clear coat or paint will be different from each other. So using 1 product over another is not as simple as most people think.
      Plus, it would also depend on the polishing pads you use.
      A soft clear coat with a heavy cut pad would absolutely remove too much clear coat way too quick.
      But then an ultra-hard clear coat these products wouldn't do so good on at all.
      You have to figure out what products (Compound/Polishing Chemical paired with Pads) will be the right pairing or setup to complete the job.
      As in this video you can see that I used 3 other setups to compare the effectiveness of different pads teamed up with different compounds and you get different results.

      You do not need to use Sonax Branded Pads to use their compound and polish. I've been using Meguiars and Sonax compounds and polishes for years. And have tried every pad on the market.
      The Lake Country pads have identical results and or better than any other pad on the market.
      To believe that you MUST use a specific brand of pad with a specific brand of compound or polish is like telling me that driving a Porsche means I should only use Chevron Fuel Only and NOT any other fuel.
