I also use the McGuir's fast cut and then the finishing compound. Some of our customers don't like certain products everybody thinks 3M's are the best it's not that's why I have different options.

I just did Adam's Advanced Graphene Coating on 2 new cars (dealer detailed - arghhh) and in the prep I used Chemical Guys Orange pad and white pad paired with C4 and P4. One was a grey VW ID4 which has a moderately hard paint I would say and took a lot of pressure and passes to get rid of some of the swirls using C4 and Orange pad. One was a Black Honda HRV and it was soft paint and I almost needed to polish last again with P4 with a Black pad because even white pad would leave some marring. Anyway, the bottom line is as a newbie if I was doing it again I would have used a microfiber pad on the VW with C4 to cut a bit faster and get rid of those scratches faster. On the Hinda I would have stayed with Orange pad with C4 and do the P4 with white pad but with almost no pressure on it. I really need to get that microfiber 6 inch pad. I was using TorqX from Chemical Guys for the DA. It took me a couple of days to get each car prepped. So basically 5 days of total prep work on brand new cars. Swirl marks everywhere on them and their detailer at the dealers were awful. I could see scratches they put on the car.

I used the 3M Restoration kit which comes with the sand papers a foam block for sanding that the sand paper attaches too and the compound and a sealer and it works very well. The Chemical Guys stuff performed about how I expected it to or really any compound alone for that matter. I haven't used the Chemical guys product but other waxes and compounds. I feel from that experience it won't last as long as any sanding headlight restore. How long do they stay clear with your ceramic coating?

Kinda curious to what hitting it with just a 1000 grit sanding disc, then the chemical guys polish, followed by the ceramic coating. Not going up to 3000, just sticking at 1000. I usually use 600-800-1000, clear coat, then after it cures I go 1500-2000, then polish and wax.

@@TheRebaholic01 There isn't a straight answer to that question. Every vehicle's clear coat or paint will be different from each other. So using 1 product over another is not as simple as most people think. Plus, it would also depend on the polishing pads you use. A soft clear coat with a heavy cut pad would absolutely remove too much clear coat way too quick. But then an ultra-hard clear coat these products wouldn't do so good on at all. You have to figure out what products (Compound/Polishing Chemical paired with Pads) will be the right pairing or setup to complete the job. As in this video you can see that I used 3 other setups to compare the effectiveness of different pads teamed up with different compounds and you get different results.
