    There is a shockingly few amount of videos about how to dye leather, and apparently it's because this one is literally perfect lol. Appreciate the help I'm gonna be dyeing some ugly green leather to black soon and your explanations made the process make sense. I am way more confident and way less nervous about dyeing porsche leather lol

    I've dyed many leather seats over the years. You should tap the dye onto the leather, not wipe it or brush it. It is also essential you put on a topcoat to prevent the wearing off of the dye.

    • @whitegoodman7465
      @whitegoodman7465 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Topcoat is essential if you stripped the original top coat.

      @@whitegoodman7465 That is a requirement. You should never apply dye to a topcoat, it will not last.

    Nice work man. I'll have to give this a try for my car
    .... Easier than junk yard hunting for another pair of seats with different colors. I would bet using some kind of top coat/protective coat would help "seal" and protect the work. Another video I was watching used a product called QP-ON ceramic coating. Mother's has a product also. Thanks for the video!

    1. Leather Cleaner
    2. IPA solution
    3. Leather crack filler, or repair any tears
    4. lightly sand the leather
    5. Dye the leather
    6. wipe down with IPA solution again
    7. Use Leather conditioner.
    8. Top coat, if desired.

  • @rustler08
    @rustler08 3 ปีที่แล้ว +29

    If you’re thinking of doing this and you want it to last, you need to buy a leather sealant and seal the seat. Otherwise, the dye is going to transfer and it’s going to rub out, get on things, and just fade over time.
    A good sealant will prevent you from having to ever do this, again.
