Palpatine is a genius. Starts a war to feed his Sith powers, plays two sides against each other with heavy casualties and destruction leaving the galaxy weak, killing off his enemies during the war (Jedi), has the army he created, kill off the remaining Jedi and conquer the galaxy. The Clone Wars series gets into more detail on why the Clones executed Order 66 and there's a lot more to Anakin's legend.

For me, the Jedi council (specially Windu), pushed A LOT Anakin to the dark side. They´re afraid of him, never truly trusted him, never gave him any serious mission... and mixed with Anakin fears (mostly for Padme) and feeling himself always excluded... the final step was all the Emperor´s manipulation during years but... the Jedi Council had big part of responsibility in this disaster. Even in the last chance he said the truth to Windu. Anakin tried and tried to follow the right path, but all these things became him in Darth Vader.

@@pkmsmith87 Rather than dismiss those circumstances as "excuses" for Anakin's choices, it might benefit you to consider his primary motivations... the main reasons Anakin made certain, major choices in his turn to the dark side. Once you realize the right questions to ask, the answers to them might present themselves and illuminate the story in a new light... as I have concluded was George Lucas' intention for his audience.

The reason he got "this" suit, was a punishment from palpatine, because he failed to kill Obi-Wan.
The droids who rebuild vader had been hasty and sloppy. When Vader woke up, he noticed that his lifesupport system was so loud inside the suit, it would drive him mad. He noticed that he would need infusions of painkillers because they didnt remove the burned flesh, He looked around and said "this it not seeing" he heared Palpatines voice, but his hearing aid had been a cheap one and said "this is not hearing" when he stepped down from the table, his pants got stuck in his new mechanical legs, also he got tilted boots and heavy prothtetics so he said "this is not walking"
He felt crippled, he wasnt able to use force-lightning, he had to change his fighting style and worst of all, the force could no loger connect with him on a 100% level. he knew palpatine had trapped him inside the suit, so he could never try to overpower him

Qui Gonn spirit taught Obi Wan to become a force ghost, (at the end of the movie Yoda said to Obi that someone returned from the netherworld of the force). In all those years in solitude in Tatooine Obi Wan learnt it. That´s why he told Vader in episode IV: "if you strike me down, I´ll become more powerful that you can possibly imagine".

In all fairness, I’m pretty sure that George’s intent when he made the film was that the clones did become the storm troopers. Obviously not the case in legends or what is now the canon. But it makes sense to me that when the prequels were made, the kamino clones were to be seamlessly transitioned into the storm troopers, being endlessly created. Most likely I think either GL or Dave decided against that due to the more sympathetic take of TCW.

I hope this isn't a spoiler. Many people don't read the Star Wars books. If you think you'll get into them, you might not choose to read this, but at the same time, it'll make the movie better.
Padme dying is a lot like Luke and Leia being twins. The story, long long ago, evolved from Luke trying to find his sister, Nellith. George decided that was a drawn-out storyline that would take more time than it was worth for the main story progression. People still wonder how Luke can't remember Padme but Leia can. It's explained in the novels, but it comes down to their separation and upbringing. When Bail tells Leia about her mother, it inspires some Force visions about her. Luke had the same capability, but Owen and Beru lied about who his father was.

You missed the reason at the end when 3PO exclaimed "What!!??" ... Bail instructed Capt. Antilles to have his mind(basically his memory) wiped that is why in the original episodes he doesn't remember anything except his normal functionality. Artoo giggles as his memory remains intact but he's a ride or die guy so no need to😊. Yes Padmé did pass away. The likely reason that Leia(not Luke) has memories of Padmé were from Force Visions she had brought on by Bail and Breha Organa talking to her about her mother. 😊

  • @mckrackin5324

"Now I understand how the Stormtroopers..."... No, you don't. You're way behind on that one. Clone Troopers are not Storm Troopers. There were no Storm Troopers in this movie. And I think you're missing the point that Anakin was a victim here. He's been groomed since before his birth. He had no chance of defying the Emperor. He was conceived by the Force. Probably by the Emperor. He was intentionally made to be born into slavery. His mother was captured, tortured and killed on the orders of the Emperor. The dreams of his mother were put in his head by the Emp. The dreams of Padme's death were put there by the Emp. His whole life, he's been groomed for this moment.
Also, the clones had no choice but to obey the Emp. That's a big story.

They emasculated Han Solo, the soundtrack did not fit the movie at all, the cinematography is too dark and low contrast and not to mention the insufferable suffragette droid. The only good thing in Solo is Donald Glover's performance as Lando. The movie had no urgency. It was also a huge flop. Rogue One has the atmosphere and visuals reminiscent of the original trilogy and the large scale action is very well executed. It also brings the "wars" back to Star Wars and a great bridge between Episode III and IV. Sure there's lots of memberberries but most of them are well executed.

Storm troopers and Clone troopers are actually different for the most part. The clones are replaced by regular people so they are not especially genetically bred to be superior troops in comparison. Also heroes exist for good and bad sides depending on perspective. After all, the separatists in the clone wars were worlds that disagreed with the bureaucracy and the corruption of the republic, they had heroes, but throughout the first two films we see them as villains. After all, someone like Count dooku for example is a very complicated character. A valued Jedi master who was one of the top duelists of his time only turned to the dark side because he hated that the republic didn't do more for people struggling and the corruption that the republic allowed. He was a hero for the separatists. Even palpatine is technically a hero to those people that hated the chaos of the republic and the bureaucracy that ensued. Or in the galactic civil war, the empire was actually a synonym for the the United States while the rebellion was synonymous to the viet cong. Many americans look at the United states fondly because it brought stability to their world. The same thing with Hitler, he was obviously a villain that was extremely heinous, but you know what, for a while there, he had solutions to a crippled economy and a weakened military that was humiliated by an entire world and the Germans at the time loved him for it. At the end of the day, heroes on both sides exist because the world is not black and white. People have heroes who help them in their time of need. And if you can hide the skeletons in your closet, you are a hero until sometimes you become the villain. At least to someone

The beginning of the downfall of Anakin was how he was taken from his mother in the first Star Wars movie, I mean; in the republic the Jedi were identified at very early age, however the practical means by which they were incorporated into the academy were a lot more considerate, .. although he was freed by the deal Ben Kenobi’s teacher (Qui gon Jinn) made with Watto, .. it was way he was freed, and the circumstance, .. to take this child away from his mother in such a way began the unreconcilable ripples within the force!! picked up on within Jedi council session via Yoda & Mace windu, these ripples intensified during Anakin’s enrolment and early training, causing slight contempt for the council, and especially when learning they’re trust in him wasn’t sincere because of his force abilities.
So in conclusion the Jedi order actually helped with the early stages of Vader’s creation not only by principle but more so practice
In light of episode III Palpatine was controlling nearly everything!! however slight/subtle his manipulation of Anakin was nothing short of perfect, again based upon the vacuum in his life of no parents, although Ben Kenobi was like a father figure to him, His loyalty was first to the council which was also an underline problem between them, so in many respects Anakin felt alone, and it was the subtle encouragement of the chancellor (Palpatine) to engage and continue in exploring his passion and of course personal needs .. enter Padme, so I’m certainly in the understanding that he also arranged for her to have lesser role in politics as to be able to submerge into a more secretive relationship with Anakin, all the while slowly edging him more and more to the chancellors wishes.

It's been so enjoyable watching you react to these movies, Ashna! Thank you, thank you, thank you! 🤗 Greatly looking forward to joining you as you continue your journeys. 😁
A couple of issues I have from the first six movies/episodes:
Luke & Leia's "memories" of Padme. In RotJ, Leia says her only memory of her mother is of her being sad. Luke says he has no memories of her at all. But since they were literally only minutes old when Padme died, how could either of them have any memory of their mother? And why would twins -- especially "Force-sensitive" twins -- not have some kind of shared memories between them? I think their memories were just a detail that was overlooked or not taken into account when RotS was written.
The other thing that has rubbed me wrong ever since RotJ was first released is Anakin's "redemption". How, after all the atrocities he committed as Darth Vader, did saving his son's life and killing the Emperor somehow wipe the slate clean and return him to being a Jedi? It made no sense to me as a teenager and makes even less sense to me as a 60-year-old man.

Choreographing a ten minute fight, 4 Jedi against a Sith Lord lightsaber battle with three of the Jedi in heavy makeup and prosthetics would have been a nightmare...Rest assured that officially in the novel, they all put up a fight. One, Palpatine was sandbagging to intentionally turn Anakin. Two, Clone Troopers are higher quality that Storm Troopers as Storm Troopers are just regular recruits from the Empire and not literally bred for combat. Three, the Clone Troopers have literal chips implanted in their heads forcing them to attack the Jedi on command. The Clone Wars series filled in A LOT of the blanks on why Anakin seemed to fall so easily here. You're only seeing the last little steps in a plan Palpatine has been orchestrating for decades.

  • @chrisl8224

Storm troopers are not clones. Except for one that is still in the emperor's red guard by episode 4. Most clones were dead by the end of the clone war. And the rest died of old age in the next few decades after Episode 3 from the accelerated aging the Kaminoans used to grow them. Most were left homeless and forgotten and left to die poor and neglected. After the clone war the galaxy just wanted to forget the war and what led to the empire and Palpatine taking over to the Nazi nightmare the Republic had turned into. Most Republic/Empire citizens saw clones as not people. And basically the same thing as a droid. Only flesh. That weren't meant to be people and disposable. Besides they'd only live a few decades. And were literally designed to only fight and die. Disposable people like a candy wrapper. And all they were good for. Even the Jedi saw them that way and treated them that way even Master Yoda. The only one's that treated them like actual people were Obi Wan, Anakin and Anakin's Padawan Ahsoka Tano. And even then Obi Wan treated them as disposable and like just a tool half of the time. If you notice at the beginning of the movie Anakin was worried about helping the clones and wanted to go back for them. Obi Wan didn't and said "they're doing their job". Normally you could chalk that up to you have to get the mission done no matter the cost/collateral damage. Which it was but it was also because Obi Wan like almost all Jedi didn't see the clones as people. With their own individual personalities and souls. They were just clones. Even Obi Wan was guilty of that. If you watch the Clone Wars cartoon you'll see how cold and unepathetic, and even sometimes abusive the Jedi were to the clones. Just like you see everyone treat droids in Star Wars. Not people. Just tools. Its the same for the droids you can see they actually feel pain and say oww. Have feelings. Almost always act sentient. And are treated like crap and slaves and disposable. Same thing. Same idea. Just make it the clones instead. And like i said the only two that didn't were Anakin and Ahsoka. Obi Wan was polite to them but he also was to droids. But wasnt really bothered by the death of R4 or any clone.
A few became merchants or traders or even pirates. Because no one would give them a decent job or a chance to do anything past mercenary or violent or hard labor work. Sound familiar? Because it's an allegory for how the average citizen and governments around the world treat our own military once there's no war to fight. George Lucas made it an allegory on purpose. Some that were elite troops. Like the 501st legion that helped attack the Jedi temple with Anakin/Vader were allowed to stay in the military. But only the most elite troops. The 501st in particular became known as "Vader's Fist". And they were only allowed to stay because of their loyalty and because Vader had a soft spot for the clones. And respected them from all the years of fighting beside clones when he was Anakin. Even as Vader in a suit most clones would recognize who he was and his fighting style and how he commands. So only the most loyal were kept. But by the time of Episode 4 they were either too old to fight or dead or died of old age. They were replaced by humans.
And because most humans in the galaxy were racist/speciesist and bigots. So anyone not human usually didn't make it into the empire army. And it gave the emperor the good publicity that the empire was creating billions of jobs for the galaxy for propaganda. The cloning facility on kamino was locked down and dismantled by the empire. And the Kaminoans put under constant gestapo/KGB level lockdown. The empire was also cheap. The clone army was small in only the millions with only thousands of ships. But extremely well trained and a Lazer focused army. The empire army was 10 times the size. The equipment was mass produced. But unlike the clones not made to fit different types and sizes of people. The clones were all the same so it worked. Everyone else isn't. So their helmets didn't fit right. Or the armor. And on top of it they were low quality compared to clone armor and helmets. Not better. So storm troopers were always fighting with bad armor and a helmet that didn't fit. With a poor visual display worse than the clone helmets. And basically faulty to the point of being useless. The same for the ships and ground vehicles. Better than the rebels pieced together trash they were using. But still cheap as they could make it and low quality. Again Emperor Palpatine's idea. He believed the Death Star was more important and the end goal. Not the army. All the Galaxy's money and resources were put into the Death Stars. To the point it nearly bankrupted the Empire.
Another reason besides bad cheap, bad equipment and armor making it difficult to hit anything except the broad side of a wall. As you can see in episode 4-6. Is their poor Sith style training. Recruits were encouraged to stab each other in the back to get ahead. Especially the officer's. Many died in training. If you were caught cheating or stabbing people in the back you'd be executed or forced out. But.....that was the point. You were supposed to be power hungry and lying and conniving. And you're expected to not get caught as part of that. A true style of Sith training. Betrayal of everyone and anyone to get ahead and get power but don't get caught doing it. Only the strong survive and the weak perish. Dog eat dog. The way of the Sith. So you have a military full of backstabbing, squabbling, treacherous officer's. Who would screw each other over and purposely sabotage things that should be victories to get ahead. With failure being the execution of those that failed. Especially when Vader was involved. And troops who are put out with half a$$ training. Unlike the clones who were very well trained. And to top it off in armor that basically was useless and made it impossible to hit anything. But not allowed to not wear it or the helmets. The blasters were also mass produced junk and low quality. Even the rebels who found them or lost their weapons tried to not use them because they were not made for accuracy. But to blindly spray an area with blaster fire. THAT'S why storm troopers can't hit anything. Besides plot armor and it being a movie. But in the reality of the movies that's why. Bad helmets. Bad training. And bad philosophy of treachery and betrayal as their training.
The clones were excellent marksman and excellent well trained troops. Except none of the storm troopers outside of a very select few were clones. And by episode 4 basically none of them were clones at all. Even in Vader's personal legion of the 501st. So that's why. Storm troopers aren't clones. And their equipment sucks. Good thing. Or else the empire might have won.

Fun fact! Remember the blue twi'lek jedi that got shot like 50 thousand times even when she was dead? Well before the whole "inhibitor chip" thing was added to the canon, the clones before that always knew about the betrayal and were doing it willingly. But Aayla Secura (the blue jedi twi'lek) was incredibly good and friendly with her squad so it broke their hearts to betray them, they wanted to give her a quick death so, to quote "We didn't stop shooting until we ran out of ammo." in current canon, there is no explanation as to why they kept shooting though I still like to think the original canon applies even now.

39:59 they are not stormtroopers (the ones that had terrible aim), you should read the comments cuz a lot of people told you that and also, watch the Clone Wars animated series, it gives you more context about this betrayal and Anakin's fall to the dark side.

Should watch the Bad Batch series. Makes Clones very distinguishable from Stormtroopers. If others believe that’s wrong, why did Palpatine made it specific then? Why did the directors made several scenes to tell you that? If you can’t comprehend it then clearly people suffer brain damage. Probably their moms dropped their heads while still baby, makes sense.

There is one detail that's always bothered me. We clearly see the attack on the Jedi Temple and the damage it's caused. Yet at the end of episode 6, we can see it's been rebuilt to pristine condition. Though, I suppose it's not unreasonable the Empire seized & repurposed it.

You should watch The Clone Wars series in chronological order, The Bad Batch, Tales of the Jedi, and Tales of the Empire for more context and understanding of the Clone Wars and Order 66, as well as the fallout and the transition from Clones to Stormtroopers because those are not the same.
Also Rebels is very good to watch after, shows the evolution of the Empire and the Rebellion.
Animated Star Wars is considered some of the best Star Wars. I personally consider the 4-episode series finale of the Clone Wars to be the best thing in Star Wars.
1:05:18 I also think if you watched these along with Rogue One, you’d understand that there are genuinely heroes on both sides, it’s just something that isn’t shown well in these movies

Ngl it always bothers me when people say stormtroopers to the clones during the clone wars. Like stormtroopers are regular recruits and that's why the clones are the superior. They were litteraly trained for war. And it also bothers me when people don't know why the clones turned on the jedis. Like cmon bro just watch the animated series. But seriousley you can actually hear that before they put the mask on Darth Vader he whispers "help me Padme"😭

There has always been a small, tiny piece of good left in the very back of Vader's mind. Even in the 20 years of the Empire. But Vader was and always would be a slave to the Emperor. You don't see it here, but in the comics that follow this movie, Vader tries to attack Palpatine right after he yells NOOOOOO, and Palpatine shocks Vader and threatens to kill him if he ever disobeys him. Vader goes on to hate the Emperor but, as a slave, obeys. He always had good in him, but supressed it so far down that he truly believed himself to have no good in him anymore.

Note: actually there's an explanation for why the clones kept shotting to the body of Aayla Secura (the blue skin jedi) and basically she was so loving towards their troopers that they just wanted to killed her as swiftly and painless as it possible... kind of fucked up but this was explain in one of the novels of episode 3 and also I would suggest you to watch the clone wars series, there you'll understand better Anakin's fall to the dark side

Any landing or crash you come out in one piece (I mean yourself, not necessary the craft) is considered a good landing in aeronautics.
Once and for all, Clone troopers are NOT Stormtroopers. Stormtroopers were not clones and were less trained, clones were too expansive for the Empire to maintain and relied on conscripts instead. Stormtrooper = Soviet Conscript whilst Clone Trooper = Special forces more like.
59:33 On the contrary, don't let someone as badly burnt as Anakin have mostly polluted rain fall on them. Losing your skin makes one very susceptible to infections. If anything, the capsule should have been closed.

Nope! Padme is deader than a dusty doornail. I know it sounds callous, but what will you say upon learning WHY she died?
See, Palpatine used Sith alchemy to pull her life-force away (and put it into Anakin) so he could keep Anakin alive long enough for his transformation into the Vader suit. Then he LIED to Anakin, like you said, in order to punish and enrage him. Vader very nearly killed his OWN daughter, having no clue who she was, because despite all of the emperor's intimidating blustering and grandstanding, he was REALLY far from being the "all-knowing" Sith Lord he claimed to be. The emperor was little more than an actor, a bad actor. Anakin was MORE powerful than either Yoda OR Palpatine, but after Mustafar, he was left physically weakened, and Palpatine made sure the Vader suit never functioned properly, and ALWAYS caused Anakin pain and suffering. Plus, Palpatine made sure the suit couldn't withstand his Force Lightning, thus keeping Vader enslaved to him. The suit was his prison. The best he could become was little more than a Sith Juggernaut. So, consider carefully Vader's decision to save his own son, knowing full well he would die for the effort. But, he could not stand by and watch the child of Padme, his child, be killed by the emperor. That's love, in point of fact. The most dangerous emotion in the Star Wars galaxy. (According to the Jedi Council)

You need to watch Rogue One, The Clone Wars Series, Rebels Series, The Bad Batch, and The Mandalorian. You will get the answer of why stormtroopers has bad aim. Anyways, that's plenty of conent for you to react to and you will dive a lot deeper into the lore. This movie will hit harder after you watch the clone wars series. Clone Wars takes place between 1 and 2. Rebels I believe is between 3 and 4.
