    I really appreciate that you mention how procedures, treatments, creams etc can affect darker skin tones. Your advocacy for the use of sunscreen to protect from hyper pigmentation needs to be heard loud and clear. Many, if not most, black people I know still believe we don't need it. It doesn't help that sunscreen tends to give us an ashy look though. Anyway thank you for another very informative and clear video.

    I would be very interested in a “How to become a dermatologist” video in which you would talk about the process in becoming a dermatologist. You could cover things such as the education and how rigorous it is and also things such as the residency and your experience with that. I just thought that’d be a fun video 😁😁

      @Banx Where are you getting your information from?
      That's completely false.
      There's FB groups of people who have been harmed by filler. Several people I know went blind temporarily. They also were disfigured.

    • @shaynamadich3589

    This might sound a little confusing but your videos help me to supplement and really internalize the psychological treatment I get for my body dysmorphia.
    Something about how clinical and impartial you are when discussing the natural behaviors and presentations of our skin just opened my eyes to the idea that, A: My face is apparently just aging and responding to everyday life exactly as it should, and B: It probably doesn’t look nearly as unsightly as I might sometimes believe. Or, at least, I no longer obsess about my “disfigured” appearance enough to risk *truly disfiguring myself* with unsafe and unnecessary desperate measures. There was a point in time where I was absolutely prepared to take some *major* risks with my face, even against the advice of every medical professional under the sun - my only obstacle being that I was simply too broke to afford what I wanted at the time, which I guess had turned out to be my blessing in disguise.
    I don’t know. People could tell me all day every day that I was perfectly normal-looking and not at all alone in my struggles but, for whatever reason, the lightbulb failed to light up until I found this channel and had those affirmations validated by a professional who’s opinions I’ve come to genuinely respect.
    The point I’m trying to make is this-
    Being a science-communicator is freaking hard and I just want you to know that you are very, very good at it! Your content has an impact far beyond what you’d ever imagine. Thank you for doing what you do and kudos to you for doing the impossible by navigating this social media platform whilst simultaneously keeping your ethics intact.

    I am REALLY glad you went into the "worst case scenario." It's the same thing with any kind of surgical procedure. You have three possible outcomes: (1) You will improve; (2) You will be the same; or (3) You will be worse. (Unfortunately worse can include far, far worse.) This will be included in the papers you sign before surgery.
    Thank you again, for all the advice you give. It is so very valuable.

      My respects to your mother( parents) what a great job done in raising you...l admire your dedication to the profession and proud to see a young lady with such intelligence, and accomplished. I have been watching your videos for few months now and feel like back in graduate school. Your knowledge is immense...more importantly you have the gift to be able to convey that knowledge to others... I had met very intelligent people and some of them don’t have that great ability to engage others and that those who listen can actually follow their concepts. As a woman I’m very proud!! Kudos to mom too.

    I can absolutely attest to the fact that collagen does build up around Restalyne filler in the skin. I'm 70 now, and started getting filler about 25 years ago. I got Restalyne injections in my lips and nasolabial lines. While the actual filler itself does absorb over time, my own natural collagen STAYS there. So Restalyne is permanent to a certain extent. Money well spent.😊

    Thank you, Dr. Gray! What are your thoughts about Bellafill for rolling / atrophic scars? I’m very confused with the data about it ... it has been claimed to be semi-permanent, but trials did not follow Bellafill injected patients past the 5 year period.. Do the benefits outweigh the risks ? Thank you!!

      mba198149@gmail.com Ushuaya Lindsay asks if it’s „worth it or skip it“. Out of the both of two Andrea chose to say „skip“, I suppose because it’s not worth it. If essence is working for you and you don’t mind paying for an extra step I suppose you can keep using it. A lot of Korean men and women do. You can look up some of dr drays skincare videos, they are very informative as educating, regarding why using what. My skin never looked better and I stopped using my toner and essence.

    Could you discuss hypo-pigmentation and possible treatments? I have hypo-pigmentation all over my face from acne/acne rosacea. I have pale skin and rosacea along with the hypo-pigmentation. I've been told that there isn't really anything that can be done and that I should stay away from any chemical peels or laser resurfacing since my skin frequently heals this way. Is there any new research that you are aware of? I never really see any information about it.

    My husband is an oral maxillary surgeon. Fillers are expensive generally. After he retired due to disability it because a lot more costly for me to have them and to trust someone doing them. I always run into medical aestheticians wanting to use the same syringe to inject multiple areas w botox. The needle becomes dull w every injection and I always gets bumps later at the sites. Might not be a filler. Just a side not.

    thank you for this video. i thought to share my experience. first time i had fillers under my eyes there were lumps and i had them dissolved. if i knew what would happen i would never dissolve them. i had severe reaction to hyaluronidase - my undereye bags became swollen like balls, with holes near the bags where the needle penetrated the skin, even cortisone inections for the allergy didn't help. later i found out that i have problem with lemphatic system, it doesnt work properly. it took me 6 months (two months of massaging with guasha stone) to almost recover from this. then i had fillers again. now it's much better, the lumps from the fillers take long time to dissolve in my body, if only i knew this before. even some of the doctors that i went to never had patients with similar reaction.

    • @anabeley83
      @anabeley83 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I had permanent skin damage from the dissolving agent. I believe this is a consequence of using too much. it is very watery.. not like HA fillers.. so it also spreads though the tissue more easily.from my experience most doctors don't acknowledge that damage from Hyalarnidase occurs. I think the problem is in that i order to market it as 'reversible' (HA fillers) they have to stand by their claims the dissolving agent isn't damaging.. its tricky.
      I ended up having surgery (yes surgery) to correct the laxity that resulted. I believe It also damaged the color of the skin.. its much darker with a grey cast.
      I subsequently had 2 rounds of scultpra and other HA to 'rep lump' the skin as the hyarlanidase caused it to sag.. so I personally have a lot of experience with fillers.. they have their risks..but in my opinion the worse risk is anything that causes tissue t DEGRADE
      I would love a doctor to actually investigate the dissolving agent.. Im an engineer and tried to educate myself on anything I use.. but ultimately we trust drs so It would be good if they investigated bad results more than good ones.. thoughts?

I also didn’t know filler can be place in acne scars, I have quite a few icepick scars on my cheeks and forehead. Thank you for this video.

    Dr Dray, what is your opinion on ingestible Ceramides?

    • @DrDrayzday
      @DrDrayzday  6 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      supplements are a bit of a shot in the dark, as they are non-drugs and not regulated, so you are at the mercy of the manufacturer.... and we don't have longterm safety or efficacy data on ingesting ceramides
