I have a patient who has used retinoids since the 70s for her acne and never stopped, she legit looks 20 years younger than her age. Very motivating to use it.
Hey doc, I'm a dentist chiming in regarding the lower veneers. If you were my patient I would advise you against doing the lower veneers for a few reasons. First, other people really only notice your upper teeth when you smile--it's always best to stay as conservative as possible, so when your lower teeth aren't really the center of attention in the first place, it doesn't make sense to alter them. Second, veneers are made of ceramic, and this material requires a certain thickness in order for it to be durable enough to withstand chewing function. Because the lower teeth are significantly smaller than the upper teeth, there isn't as much tooth structure available for us to reduce without compromising the strength of the tooth, which results in lower veneers often looking bulky and opaque because we still need the ceramic to be thick enough to not break. What I would recommend for you instead is Invisalign to close your diastemata and potentially some whitening to just overall boost the appearance. Hope you see this and hope you stuck with your gut to not lay a drill to those bad boys! PS your upper veneers look great, and you're right that they definitely gave you more lip support and filled out your face nicely. Have a great day!
When I was wearing my Invisilyn that area of my face was fuller and I noticed the difference since I just need the retainer at night now. I'm 58 and didn't think about it until I put the retainers in and wore them like I did during the straightening process. Interesting.
I hope Dr Dray knows that maybe we were brought to her channel because of skincare, but more than a million of us have stayed because of HER 😘 And we love getting to know her better! Great video!
I always appreciate it when an influencer in the beauty realm shares whether/what kind of cosmetic procedures they’ve had done to their face. It’s helpful to know what factors may contribute to why a makeup product looks nice on them (aside from good lighting and, like, post-production color correction or whatever). It helps me temper my expectations for how a product might work for me, since I haven’t had any work done.

I've watched basically every single video of yours, and I have never noticed the asymmetry. This makes me happy because I'm hoping my own facial asymmetry isn't obvious just like yours isn't! :)
Doctor, We love your honesty. Coming from an oral surgery background veneers can last forever if you take care of them. Also, it’s very important to wear a night guard or retainer at night, while playing sports and while working out because the veneer material will wear down your bottom teeth.
I also had my tongue pierced at a young age and damage was done to my teeth as well. I don't regret my self expression but also wouldn't recommend. Thank you for opening up and sharing your journey!
Tounge piercings were soo cool in the late '90s. I had one too, for about 5 years, luckily with minimal damage to my teeth. Had no idea it is bad for gums, wish you would have elaborated on that a bit further. Great video!
It’s very refreshing to see someone talk about procedures they had done and be confident about it. This is quite rare (which is sad) idk why ppl are always so ashamed and quiet about cosmetic procedures. There’s nothing wrong with them. This video restored my faith in humanity
Hands down, your best video. Love your honesty and the amazing explanation of facial anatomy. It still baffles me why people are obsessed with knowing someone's personal business, but I appreciate your story.
Wow, it's so encouraging to hear that Dr D, hasn't done lots of procedures. It demonstrates just how amazing, glowing, and healthy skin can look with a healthy lifestyle and proactive skincare regimen. I'm more motivated than ever to continue eating healthful, whole foods, wearing sunscreen every single day and get physical activity. Thanks for the inspiration.
I dealt with Bells Palsy a few years ago and my facial asymmetry in videos used to make anxious, but it’s so much less noticeable to anyone other than me and this is such a good reminder. Thanks for pointing out your own asymmetry and how we naturally pose to show off our ‘fuller’ side. :)
Yes, I never noticed this on Dr. Dray's face. I probably wouldn't notice on yours either. (And, I'm not going to look at my face with that in mind or I'm sure I would notice it on me from then on, forever! 🤣
The first thing I did IPL for was my forearms and I have ZERO hair left. My sister used to tease me for having monkey arms. (I am of French descent so I am light skinned with dark hair) I even used to use Sally Hansen hair bleach but then the hair would grow out with roots 😂 Used Nair but the hair would still not come off after burning my skin! Shaving left bumps and irritation. IPL is the best thing they ever invented! My forearms, legs, underarms, bikini is still smooth as a baby’s bottom 20 years later. SO worth the money. It only took two or three session for me. So glad I didn’t buy into the package of 4 or 6. It is cheaper now than when it first came out though. It was like $1200 back then and I still thought it was worth it. You will love it!
Yes! I love the honesty. I'd also be very interested in the video about "the dark side" of cosmetic procedures. It's important to know all the facts before committing.
Part of being a public figure is having to deal with scrutiny. Thank you for being such a fine rolemodel on exposing yourself to that. I hail you for also calling followers out on looking with a critical eye at people having cosmetic procedures done. Live and let live is my motto. And thank you for your empathetic impart of information and personal opinion..
Fascinating. You are a lovely YOUNG woman. I appreciate your interest in being so candid. For me it wasn’t really necessary but, as I said, I appreciate that you opened your life. I’m almost 69. I have to say that some changes due to aging are a little difficult to accept. Thank you.
I got a tongue ring around 18 too. Kept in for about five years. I used to click it around my teeth, yeesh... Thankfully I have hard teeth, according to my dentist; I have a big crack down my front tooth from it. It seems this crack is maybe not all the way through though; I never have any problems with it. But yeah, it hurt A LOT getting it. And then I had this obsessive clicking habit. But it was kind of neat for awhile, having it.
One of my friends cracked two of her lower teeth because of a tongue piercing. Infection got in to those two teeth, and to make a long story short, she ended up with two root canals!
I have never heard anyone discuss asymmetric facial innervation and this has plagued me my whole life and I didn't even know it had a term. Mine is drastic to the point I'm pretty sure it is noticeable at rest but certainly when I make mild expressions, one side essentially doesn't move at all until the expression is really dramatic, then it'll move. I feel like the muscles aren't as sensitive. I also can raise one eyebrow on one side while holding the other down, but I can't at all do the opposite. I always felt like my face was damaged, so thank you for saying my gimpy face is natural

I remember you pre veneers they really made a big difference. I’m starting laser hair treatments tomorrow. I’m happy to hear you had good results, always nice to learn about you, thank you for sharing, Dr Dray!
Hi Dr. Dray! I’m a licensed dentist and I care about your smile and teeth as much as you care about our skin! Another cause of the chips in your teeth can be clenching and grinding that you could be unaware of, I recommend getting a custom night guard made by your dentist if you don’t use one already. Even if you don’t clench or grind, it can ensure longevity of your veneers which by the way look great! Also I’m happy to hear you got rid of the tongue ring, they destroy perfectly healthy teeth!! Keep smiling!!😷💕
Dr Dray I have been following you for a while now and I can definitely see a difference in your skin since you starting using tretinoin, it inspired me to start using it and I have never looked back!
I second laser hair removal. I was born with a not completely closed casing of the spinal column and my body grew a large patch of hair on my lower back that grows as fast as the hair on my head. Finally in a position to be able to afford laser hair removal and excited to start!!
I can relate. I also had a tongue ring and chipped teeth also from grinding. I put veneers in as well and feel more confident about my smile. You are really intelligent and naturally beautiful.
@Sabriellagurung Long huh? creepy? Back when dr dray got her tongue ring, it was considered edgy and piercings were not very mainstream. it's ok to be surprised that she had a tongue ring.

Dr Dray, I was told when I was young that I’m allergic to my tears. When I cry my face swells & stings. I’m a group fitness instructor. And the past few yrs my skin gets irritated when I sweat. The past year it’s gotten worse. It feels like it’s on fire on my neck esp. I turn bright red. If I take a soft wet microfiber cloth & just dab the sweat away, it feels like my skin is so raw. I use the eczema spray & it is best bc touching it makes it hurt worse. Have you heard about ppl being allergic to sweat & tears? Treatment? (I’ve tried petroleum & I just sweat it all off bc my workouts are very intense)

It’s really important to go to an experienced piercer, especially with a tongue piercing. If the person wasn’t trained properly and doesn’t know anatomy, then there can be permanent damage. It’s a surprisingly risky piercing when done by the wrong person. Most piercings aren’t risky, though.
@@lindseystein9676 When my daughter-in-law was a few years younger, she got a tongue piercing that was too far back in her tongue. Apparently, this was to prevent any teeth being damaged. HOWEVER, she woke up in the middle of the night, after the procedure, and she was choking on her tongue because it was so swollen! Unwilling to wake up her grandmother to ask her to take her to the ER, my DIL simply took the barbell out, rinsed and gargled with Listerine, and went back to bed. Thankfully, by morning the swelling was gone!
It is so amazing that people share their Cosmetic procedures, there are just too many people on TH-cam avoiding it and/or denying it. It only creates unrealistic expectations, where sharing them to me have such a positive impact. And strange thing, I had a tongue piercing when I was 17, literally removed it within a month and I have that little mark on the tongue as well, had a nose piercing for exactly a week. The pain we put ourselves through for absolutely nothing when were young. But either way, refreshing to see people starting to share more

Right! I come to her channel to learn and she has taught me a lot about skin care. I view her as some ones who's kind enough to educate others without ever being demeaning. I was really surprised to find this video actually, that she felt the need to even make it.
My face must be the opposite, very innervated. It's very lively, and I developed forehead wrinkles at age 13. But I love the wide range of facial expressions that I have, so it's totally worth it.
I’ve always wondered what procedures you had done because your face is almost expressionless. I knew it couldn’t be natural never to have any lines when you talk or smile. Thank you so much for answering my question!

You have fab facial bone structure, most people would love those natural cheekbones.
I know right?! Her facial structure is so gorgeous!!! People would pay thousands of thousands( cough Kardashians cough) to have her bone structure!! ☺️
Most people who have strong jaw have hallow cheeks, which a lot of people seem to like, but I think hallow cheeks makes people look older. I love that she has a strong jaw but full cheeks. So stunning
I don’t believe that her cheek fullness is ‘natural’
Sculptra was done
@@elena-it7xs yeah,if you watch her older videos it's pretty clear
"Most people"
You're the best. You provide a beautifully executed public service everyday to those who care about skincare, haircare and much more. Thank you for the explanation but you don't need to explain yourself to anyone especially those who are not kind. Grateful for your sage advice all these years! I consider you a friend I've never met in person.
As a pre-dental student I just wanted to say that your teeth look great and the veneers look so natural ☺️
Just when I thought I couldn’t love her more ... I do. Thanks for keeping it real Dr. Dray and for being an awesome human 💕
We need more people being honest about their cosmetic procedures ❤️ Thank you for making this video! 💕
Your mother has beautiful skin, (prayers sent her way) so you are extra lucky to have good genetics and a knowledge of skincare.
I enjoy hanging out with you. Thank you for your posts.
Thank you for being so transparent. Respect you even more now.
I've watched basically every single video of yours, and I have never noticed the asymmetry. This makes me happy because I'm hoping my own facial asymmetry isn't obvious just like yours isn't! :)
Most only notice it on themselves, namely in photos. People tend not to ever notice that in others.
It’s not as noticeable with side parts! That’s why I will never get rid of mine
Your Veneers look absolutely natural af. They did an amazing job.
You never see them
Doctor, We love your honesty.
I could cry. I thought I was the only person whose face was like that. Thank you so much for talking about this.
Don't worry we all do. One side of my cheekbone is more prominent as well and one side of my jaw droops slightly.
Never in a million years would I think youd have a tongue ring! That was a fun fact!
Literally WHAT even! Lol I’m shook
5 million years
Best thing I’ve learned today. Hands down!
Tounge piercings were soo cool in the late '90s. I had one too, for about 5 years, luckily with minimal damage to my teeth. Had no idea it is bad for gums, wish you would have elaborated on that a bit further. Great video!
They are disgusting. Very destructive to the teeth. Infections can be very serious.
Love when you braid your hair to the side - gives such a chill vibe ✌️
It’s very refreshing to see someone talk about procedures they had done and be confident about it. This is quite rare (which is sad) idk why ppl are always so ashamed and quiet about cosmetic procedures. There’s nothing wrong with them. This video restored my faith in humanity
You are kind and non-judgmental. Thank you for sharing this attitude.
Hands down, your best video. Love your honesty and the amazing explanation of facial anatomy. It still baffles me why people are obsessed with knowing someone's personal business, but I appreciate your story.
I appreciate your honesty! I’ve had a few injectables and hearing you say that I’m not fake... idk it means a lot! Thank you and Happy Tuesday!
I also dealt with Bells palsy! Every time I get stressed I feel like it's going to hit again. I feel mentally scarred for life
Yes, I never noticed this on Dr. Dray's face. I probably wouldn't notice on yours either. (And, I'm not going to look at my face with that in mind or I'm sure I would notice it on me from then on, forever! 🤣
Lol well u don't need to its a choice.
As a fellow hairy- forearmer, this gives me hope. I’ve considered laser hair removal and this makes me want to do it even more!
You will love it!
i agree it’s so worth it. simplifies your life so much. just so nice to have less to worry about
Do it. I did my legs and whole pelvic area. I used to shaved everyday. Now I shave ny legs every two weeks and my bikini area once a week.
For some reason my hairy arms don’t bother me. I don’t like other things about me, but the forearm hair just isn’t an issue at all.
I did years ago after having skin issue after using the Veet shaving cream. Enough of this! It was so worth it. 🥰
Yes! I love the honesty. I'd also be very interested in the video about "the dark side" of cosmetic procedures. It's important to know all the facts before committing.
This is why we all love you. You are the real deal.
I think you were amazingly candid, refreshingly honest quite sincere and very informative I wish you a long life on this medium
A good consistent skin routine, and great usage of sunscreen, makes for a more youthful looking face.
Fascinating. You are a lovely YOUNG woman. I appreciate your interest in being so candid. For me it wasn’t really necessary but, as I said, I appreciate that you opened your life.
I’m almost 69. I have to say that some changes due to aging are a little difficult to accept.
Thank you.
I had my tongue pierced as well when I was 18-19. It made grooves in some of my bottom teeth too 😬
Aww thats a real shame, ive always wanted it done but am terrified of cracking a tooth etc.
Sounds cool, but OMG, the pain!!!😬
Y'all are making me feel like I'm too old to have a tongue ring now 😂
One of my friends cracked two of her lower teeth because of a tongue piercing. Infection got in to those two teeth, and to make a long story short, she ended up with two root canals!
So nice to hear she is okay with her skin growing wiser. Sure we all want great skin but it’s normal to age. It can be done gracefully.
I thought it was so interesting! I know people who can only wink on one side and this is likely why.
you are an inspiration for me! this year i will graduate from medical school!, from you i got more interested in choosing dermatology speciality!!
That’s why her cup is so big. It’s full of secrets!

Everyone is a critic! You can never win so who cares what people think. I have not stopped watching ur videos since I discovered u on TH-cam. I love how ur so honest about your reviews and ur not pushing people to buy expensive products. Keep up the good work👏👏👏
Love this video! Stress ages! I found disconnecting from the TV, removed a lot of my stress. Their ‘programming” was taking a toll on my health. I cancelled my cable and also Alexia! Tired of having all our conversations listed too! I use to keep the TV on for background sound, found silence is sooo much better! ‘ ‘
Yes please “dark side of cosmetics video” 😃
I remember you pre veneers they really made a big difference. I’m starting laser hair treatments tomorrow. I’m happy to hear you had good results, always nice to learn about you, thank you for sharing, Dr Dray!
OMG, this video is everything! You’re so awesome Dr. Dray for being so genuine, transparent, and authentically you!
Hi Dr.
Can you kindly share some honest feedback on why teeth extraction and dental brace seems to detroy the face and age ppl drastically.
The teeth filling out a face is so real, when people with dentures take them off, their face falls flat! It's a huge difference
I’ve never clicked so fast.
thanks for watching
I new she was 100 % natural 💗💗💗
😆 same here!

@@DrDrayzday I’m so curious how old Dr. Dray is. Is this a question you have or would answer for your viewers?
Your dental work is beautiful as is! The veneers are very natural and blend well with your lower arch.
Dr.Dray. I am so hooked on your channel. You don't hold back and your sincerity is truly captivating.
Thank you for great advice!
Tongue ring? I feel like there’s a whole other side of Dr. Dray that we are al begging to know about!

@Sabriellagurung Long huh? creepy? Back when dr dray got her tongue ring, it was considered edgy and piercings were not very mainstream. it's ok to be surprised that she had a tongue ring.
YES I bet she has so many juicy stories. From rebel to MD PhD doctor. I wanna hear this. 😆
yes, please do a video on the dark side of cosmetic procedures!
Dr. Dray is so awesome, has always been. I think I subscribed back in 2018?? I can't believe her channel grew so much and she now has 1 million subscribers now! She's always been a sweet, caring person sharing her life and informing the public about derm-related topics. She's also really funny, loves Totoro. I love her. I love how she's just herself. She's genuine and has a heart of gold ❤️❤️ thank you for all the videos through the years, hope this message brightens your day! Omg I even remember when she posted going on Retin-A after using Differin. Wow, I'm a long-time subscriber for sure! ☺️☺️
I really cant believe you went into as much depth as you did. It wasn't necessary I never noticed your asymmetry before. The only think I would say you should have answered as you did is cosmetic procedures only because of your channel content ❤
We love these more personal videos!! Haha your longterm viewers are super interested in you because we love you lol 😆 thank you for throwing us a bone!
The veneers difference thoughhhh it really made her look 15 years younger
I had my underarms lazerd and it was the best thing ever I am hispanic w thick hair and had dark underarms and it helped with the irritation I had from shaving
How long did the procedure take and did it hurt? I've heard that it feels like having a rubber band snapped on your skin over and over again. That sounds painful! I'm considering having my underarms and legs done, but I'm scared it'll hurt a lot.
@@leemealz6088 if you don’t shave before hand, you can feel the hair being burnt and it does feel like a little zap. If you shave beforehand however you probably won’t feel a thing honestly

This is my favorite video of yours. I’d love to see a video on the dark side of cosmetic procedures.
Having watched this I'll say I cant believe dr dray reads those inapropiate and sometimes rude comments about her beautiful face. Some people better fix their attitude
Or what? Why so threatening? She's a big girl who chooses to be on youtube - if she can't handle the comments she wouldn't be here.
@@myhealthyhabits123 Okay? What would one accomplish saying something rude to/about someone? I get that people are going to do that anyways but that doesn't ever make it okay.
What's rude about asking a dermatologist if she had cosmetic procedures done considering her skin looks better than it did 4 years ago. Apparently everything is offensive these days 🙄
@@myhealthyhabits123 didnt mean to sound like that, its just that English is not my first language! Also, great if she can handle the comments but for sure that's not excuse to make them in the first place
@@starlight1818 same. Good if she can handle them but that's not an excuse to make rude comments about her teeth or face in the first place. Also, for sure she has got a mirror so why pointing it out?
I am 62 and have been using .1% Retin A continuously since I was 13 (yes, 49 years!) except for during 2 pregnancies and breastfeeding. I have never had Botox or any type of filler. I will never stop using Retin A.
Do you use it under eyes and upper lip?
@@MissSarahGM Yes, under eyes and crows feet area, NOT eyelids...yes, all around but not ON my lips 🙂
@@trishthedishbliss60 Thank you Trish, I have just started, I find more fine lines under eyes or maybe that is due to dehydration and not retinol. and want to prevent upper lip lines. So you use tetrinoin there?

I used to be a body piercer and would always warn people of the risks with tongue piercings. No one ever listened haha.
I never knew about this until I heard one of my classmates talking about how her cousin got nerve damage from a tongue piercing.
The tongue is a muscle- not for piercing. One of my friends, who is a nurse had a patient who got a brain infection from it.
@@GiftSparks oh no😢 did the person recover from it? Wow...a brain infection I would’ve never thought that could happen with a tongue piercing.
But either way, refreshing to see people starting to share more
I honestly feel terrible for assuming you'd had some work done, not that there would've been anything wrong with it if you had! But I'm super glad you talked about it, it helped remind me to reserve opinions because you just never know what people are dealing with. I love your videos and am really enjoying going back through and learning more from you.
laser hair removal is hands down the best gift any woman can give to herself
With all the serious, concerning issues on this planet, it's utterly astonishing what non-issues people will find to fixate on. Dear Andrea, you are simply beautiful inside and out. And also so intelligent and tolerant. I guess doctors have to be. Thanks for putting up with us. xo
