It's specifically designed to cause a crack in your psychological barrier because once a principle is loosened it becomes significantly easier to break down entirely. You saw it once before in gaming, 99 cent cosmetics. "it's just a dollar, less than a price of coffee" now every game has $30 cosmetic armor sets. This is a full-fledged manipulation tactic that's well tested and fully optimized. It's "only an in-game pronoun so I can romance my favorite character" and it's gonna lead down a whole slew of tiny decisions backed by the psychological trigger of "Well I already did it with that thing, so I might as well do this now" until years later you're miles away from where you drew the line. Once you cross the line there's no stopping.

I use to love the Dragon Age games, but this one is a hard pass. So many reasons. Lecture and agenda pushing instead of entertainment and escapism. I actually want to give a big thank you to you and nuhre. I cancelled my pre-order. For one, they put all their eggs in one political activism basket that you can't just say whatever and go along with (like the Krem situation) because it's CONSTANT and compulsory from the early gameplay videos. They put so much effort into this that they dropped the ball on all the things that made the franchise good, like choice consequence not really mattering and lame redundant character dialog that make no sense. I LOVED this franchise as a straight married woman because of the story and world building. This game throws all of it out the window for a message and I refuse to support that, plus all the character creator models makes all the women look like short stocky guys with no curves so I don't feel represented anymore either so take that irony for what it's worth.

Dreadwolf probably started early development soon after Inquisition around 2015-2016 back when the world was still somewhat normal and BioWare still somewhat competent. But somewhere between then and now the teams changed when diversity hiring became a thing instead of skill based hiring. The project was scrapped and changed by these untalented freaks in order for them to make “their” game using the Dragon Age IP. I guarantee most of the original team left after Andromeda and Anthem failures (2017-2019) and they brought in the queers as replacements There’s no hope for the future of Mass Effect

Bull psudo canonically marries Dorian after Inquisition, so I expect to see them in Veilguard as more DEI representation. Note, Bull really pushed DEI hard back in Inquest, you just needed to have the right party members with him. For example, when paired with Cassandra he tells her that all women that fight are considered men and are expected to marry women and such. Krem, a trans npc, is also his close ally... You actually get up to -40 rep with him if you say Krem is a girl... That's enough for some companions to outright leave. This stuff isn't new, and Tevinter is a prime location for this push. They are always advancing science and magic at the expense of humans there. I'm sure we will get companion rep punishment for not caving to the ideology in Veilguard... They already pulled that junk with Bull, Sarah, and Dorian.
Bioware has been dead since Anthem - maybe even since Dragon Age 2. Blizzard died with it's Diablo 3 release for me. EA died with their Football manager slop. Ubisoft - dead since AC 3. And all of that is a good thing. My money goes to indie developers since more than a decade.
Bioware is Bioware in name only. I doubt it will be around after dragon age :final guard. If it does, EA will and should clean house, both of the activists but the community managers too.

I played through the first twice, the second bored me with the same dungeon map blocking a different door a dozen times, and Inquisition's grind lost me to GTA V.
The 2nd game was supposed to a side game and Bioware was like no it was a game on the same scale as origins and were given 9 months it was over marketed instead of being "Escape from Ostagar"-

Yeah I asked what happened to Dreadwolf, when I first saw the trailer. It looked nothing like the setup where they left off. Which, while not as appealing to me as the prior games, it was at least compelling. The Inquisition DLC had a more compelling ending than the main game.

I use to love the Dragon Age games, but this one is a hard pass. So many reasons. Lecture and agenda pushing instead of entertainment and escapism. Previous game choices dont matter, it should have been released as some other title, not a DA game. Statements from the company attacking gamers. Top "surgery" scars on characters in a midevil setting? I'm done with the franchise. They were right about one thing, this would be the last Dragon Age game because they have killed the franchise and story line.

I actually want to give a big thank you to you and nuhre. I cancelled my pre-order. For one, they put all their eggs in one political activism basket that you can't just say whatever and go along with (like the Krem situation) because it's CONSTANT and compulsory from the early gameplay videos. They put so much effort into this that they dropped the ball on all the things that made the franchise good, like choice consequence not really mattering and lame redundant character dialog that make no sense. I LOVED this franchise as a straight married woman because of the story and world building. This game throws all of it out the window for a message and I refuse to support that, plus all the character creator models makes all the women look like short stocky guys with no curves so I don't feel represented anymore either so take that irony for what it's worth.
It time companies made a choice.

Dreadwolf probably started early development soon after Inquisition around 2015-2016 back when the world was still somewhat normal and BioWare still somewhat competent.
But somewhere between then and now the teams changed when diversity hiring became a thing instead of skill based hiring. The project was scrapped and changed by these untalented freaks in order for them to make “their” game using the Dragon Age IP.
I guarantee most of the original team left after Andromeda and Anthem failures (2017-2019) and they brought in the queers as replacements

I feel like most of this DEI stuff started around Felicia Day's Mary Sue dlc, the one that changed what the Qun is. Bull psudo canonically marries Dorian after Inquisition, so I expect to see them in Veilguard as more DEI representation. Note, Bull really pushed DEI hard back in Inquest, you just needed to have the right party members with him. For example, when paired with Cassandra he tells her that all women that fight are considered men and are expected to marry women and such. Krem, a trans npc, is also his close ally... You actually get up to -40 rep with him if you say Krem is a girl... That's enough for some companions to outright leave. This stuff isn't new, and Tevinter is a prime location for this push. They are always advancing science and magic at the expense of humans there.
I'm sure we will get companion rep punishment for not caving to the ideology in Veilguard... They already pulled that junk with Bull, Sarah, and Dorian.

Honestly, the only Dragon Age game that was good was the first. DAII was a dumbed-down, disjointed money grab. Inquisition was terrible, you decision were fake and didn't actually matter and it was ****ing grind.
I played through the first twice, the second bored me with the same dungeon map blocking a different door a dozen times, and Inquisition's grind lost me to GTA V.
The 2nd game was supposed to a side game and Bioware was like no it was a game on the same scale as origins and were given 9 months it was over marketed instead of being "Escape from Ostagar"-

Yeah I asked what happened to Dreadwolf, when I first saw the trailer. It looked nothing like the setup where they left off. Which, while not as appealing to me as the prior games, it was at least compelling. The Inquisition DLC had a more compelling ending than the main game.
I was already dreading this game being ruined. Looks like it is. So it's a shame cause I'm a huge dragon age fan, but I'll be completely skipping this.
I hope the game reaches many. It was mass effect that brought me here. The final straw when I knew something was very wrong in games. Many more are not aware, and it's games like this that will finally make them ask, "What is going on?"
