I think this comment section is a little misinformed on who provides review copies to journalists and influencers etc. The norm in the industry is for the publisher to decide who gets a review code, not the developer. So, EA decides who gets a code, not Bioware (most likely). EA - to the shock of nobody - are fairly shoddy with review codes.

I do know from the preview event a lot of folks showed a ton of stuff that was pretty clearly outside of what BioWare would want shown for the game, and I think that probably contributed to this situation. I felt like your positive review from the preview event made me feel better about what we are getting, and I’m bummed that you didn’t get a review code, but at least you’ll get to play some extra Monster Hunter before the game comes out!
Great point actually. That and the lack of DRM probably contribute to the fewer reviews codes. Besides, it's probably an EA decision overall. Luke has a big following, was super positive at the preview, so it's not logical that he isn't given a code
If you got a review code and give it a good review then people will just scream sell out... Just like they did when people were mostly positive about the seven hour preview. So do not think this is going to hurt much.

Maybe Dragon Age is ironically really important for games. If it sells well it'll show EA a good single player game doesn't need Denuvo and a steam release without the EA App is more profitable. If it doesn't then the lack of DRM might be used as a scrap goat of lost sales and games being forced on the EA App. I honestly have no idea how these decisions are made.

How utterly self centered and conceited to think that giving you a review code is somehow going to make or break a game. You are right you aren't entitled to a code. Games launched and existed before content creators. And no, the reason you and your team have been hounding them for review codes is because YOU need them way more than they need you. This is your job so you need the exposure and the ad dollars to go towards the most hyped content. For them it is simply a thing to do. Don't over exagerate your influence.
Exactly, for content creators their cash spigot is often tied to games access and recency. That is how videos often work. That does change somewhat when talking about evergreen content etc., but Luke is mad because of perhaps the level of communication he thought he was due or missing out financially. This was also extremely telling about his personality and maturity.

It could be a community thing. Look at Luke, he didnt even say alot of negative things about his prerelease, and his audience and community is still negative as hell. Why would they give Lukes audience an early look at the game?
I've seen that they're really limiting the number of codes. Plenty of people that were super positive haven't got one, and then others that more negative have. So probably EA being tight.
14:02 This game looks like a Disney series xD. Somehow, it seems worse and more simple-minded than Inquisition. I bet many RPGs didn't count as BG3's success and tried to simplify their projects too much, and now they are: oh boy! 😂
Honestly, based on the amount of backlash they've gotten just through the character creator, I don't necessarily blame them for trying to win over the core audience first. I think it would be a HUGE mistake to try to appeal to the masses outside of the core fanbase, because I'm going to be honest the second someone like Asmongold got wind of the game is when a lot of criticism showed up. This game is not for the masses. It never has been. It's more niche than I think it's audience is willing to admit.
It may be more niche but that niche wasn't where the original fanbase was. They split that fanbase with the gameplay decision and it feels like with every interview and new thing we learn about the game that original fanbase splits more and more. At this point it might be better business for them to give up on trying to get the og fanbase back. I just don't know if this team can do that with the name Bioware
If 'aiming for the core dragonage audience' is what they were going for with this game then I think they have failed to supply what the core dragon age audience was asking for. More realistic is that they were trying to expand the audience by moving away from what dragon age is, which I sense may back fire. Space Marine 2 gave everything the core SM and 40k fanbase wanted, this game is very much not doing that.

As a Dragon Age fan, I really hope this is great, and that the tone of this last trailer is what the game is like.

@@kayne8222 I hope any political agendas one way or another are just blown way out of proportion by media/journalists/TH-camrs.
For example, Cyberpunk (one of my all time favorite games at this point) has the whole "be whatever type of person you want to be" and that shit was blown around media like crazy (pre-launch before the incredibly shitty optimization issues on old hardware.) but in game, your character choices don't really affect anything besides the voice actor and who you can romance. But, like that shit makes sense. Cyberpunk otherwise just focuses on the deep characters and stories and it's fuckin grim, dark and gritty tone that's not afraid to dive deep into any fucked up situations that most modern games are afraid of.
And being totally honest and open with you, I'm pretty liberal when it comes to most things, but even I just facepalm at a lot of forced shit.
Like with Balder's Gate 3 for example - I love that game, but I fuckin hate how sexually fluid and open every party member is to banging the PC no matter what you are. That's not how people work.

The fluid anything goes thing removes that genuine character trait. And I love BG3, I think it would have benefited from doing it like Cyberpunk as well.
It's just a bummer that we the fans got them so much money from Inquisition, it was a huge success... but nah forget those fans, let's try aiming for a different fan instead. I do know from the preview event a lot of folks showed a ton of stuff that was pretty clearly outside of what BioWare would want shown for the game, and I think that probably contributed to this situation. You clearly didn't gush about it enough.
Good. We might actually get an honest review out of you now.
What Luke doesn't realize is that whining about not getting a copy he is committing what is called a "self own".
And this is why he didnt get a code, not because of himself, because of people like you, his audience, and his fans. So fckn negative, why WOULD they give him and other communities like him early access.
Why tf do you even watch him if you dont trust him.
@@anthonywhite9258 No, it's more likely that he isn't going to toe the line and give "7/10 -IGN." And they know it, so he's not getting a code.
@@anthonywhite9258 answering a question is a self own ?
honest review= you say the game is bad because no matter what ill say its bad
Not sending out codes, tells me everything I need to know about the game.
Get over it Luke,it is what it is!!
Are youtubers broke or something? Just buy the game.. Refund if game sux
They arent confident in their game so they dont want people to review it except those who usually give positive reviews
Funny since you are the only one saying atlreast mildy positive thing about the game.
The question is not "Are they trying to hide something?" but "What are they trying to hide?" I guess we'll find out soon enough.
