Calm down man. The combat looks solid, the Animations questionable and the game has othere things to be concerned about. They wont do that. Also this is no bioware channel dighead!
This is the first time I actually want to play a sword and shield hero. That demo looked so good with the elven warrior and the idea of mixing magic with all classes is such a cool gameplay and lore idea. Going to give each class a go finally!
I have always played mage. I like the idea that this group that everyone is afraid of is also the ones who always save the day. Hero of Fereldan, Hawke, and the Inquisitor.
I’m always a warrior, not just in Dragon age in every fantasy rpg I’ve ever played I’m always a guy with a big sword charging to kill enemies, it’s just a personal quirk of wanting to charge forth and rampage. Though I will occasionally sneak in some magic to my swordsman to spice things up.
Im the crazy person already plotting out a run for each companion romance. 😅 I'm usually a mage main, but first, I've got Rogue (Veil Ranger) that I've GOT to try!
Each game in the series has had a class/build that I liked more than the other two. In Origins it was Dwarf Cunning Daggers Rogue, in Exodus it’s Two-handed Warrior, and in Inquisition it was Elven Knight Enchanter. I’m having a hard time choosing between Reaper and Veil Ranger for this game tho…
My playthrough was almost the same, on Origins was a human rogue. So I have those same options to choose for this new game. I think I will go with reaper this time
Mage first time round for me. Would love unique dialogue helping Harding (my romance) with her new magic. Possibly extra drama with Lucanis too because why not 😂
My first playthrough I think I'm going to be a Dwarf Grey Warden Warrior and going reaper build. I think it reflects an attitude of Sacrifice that fits the Warden's.
All of them look good. Hard choice. I have a feeling once you are in game you might rethink your choice after some encounters. Thankfully they seem to make it easy to change things as you wish. I wanted an Elven mage of some sort, but I'm starting to think perhaps a Qunari warrior with sword and shield. This game looks like it will be better on controller rather than KB/M. I don't have a very specific and detailed description of what I'm going to do. I'll figure it out along the way.
This will be my 4th game playing Rogue but this time I'm making a dark-skinned dwarf with dreadlocks hopefully if they have it in game. He's going to be dual-wielding, part of the Lords Of Fortune and romance Lace Harding which they honestly should have let you do last game instead of just flirt with her. Hopefully I can set up my Rook and her to have some nice little dwarven babies once our adventures conclude in Thedas
Choosing my class is the ONLY thing I know at this point lol. I am choosing Rogue for my let's play on my channel but I also know that offline, I will start at least two to three more characters because that's just how I play these games. I do it with BG3, Skyrim, Dragon Age, etc. I can't help it. So many choices to make and so many options. How can I not? 🥰
Mage all the way! I hope there’s a ridiculously overpowered option like Knight Enchanter but then again, raising the dead is very on theme for that Halloween release
I'm DEFINITELY going to play a Death Caller Mournwatcher! Mage has always been my fav class and just being able to be a full on necromancer is amazing to me!! 100% going to make a new Rook to romance each companion and trying out different classes while I do so. I already know my second Rook is gonna be a mage, but I want to feel out the game before deciding any more about it Thanks for the video, Jack! You always give us tons of excitement for the release!
The rogue was crazy in DA2 with backstabbing to decoy + assassin. Also mage was power with Force mage, electricity, heal. Some how in inquisition it got a tiny bit nurft. Love playing DA2. Looking forward to what I’ll choose on vail guard. It looks like the replayability is worth trying both.
I usually play a rogue in my first playthrough (it’s my favorite class), but I think I’m gonna be a mage this time. She’s gonna be an elf, but that’s all I am certain of lol what faction or what specialization she chooses is still very much up in the air.
As a person who played DA only as mage i liked rogue demonstration the most! But also I'm conflicted cause mourn watcher healer necromancer sounds so cool as a concept :(
I’m planning on playing a human mage, because that’s what I did on my first playthrough of every Dragon Age game. I’ll play a Grey Warden with the Evoker specialization, and focus on a fire damage based build.
I'm having trouble deciding on the order of my first two playthroughs. I'm torn between the following options: Option 1: Race: Qunari Class: Grey Warden Specialization: Warrior, Slayer Option 2: Race: Human Class: Shadow Dragon Specialization: Warrior, Champion or Reaper For non-warrior playthroughs, I'm considering: 1. Elf, Veil Jumper, Mage, Spellblade 2. Human, Lords of Fortune, Rogue, Duelist
Male Dwarf Noble Warrior in Origins (althought I swing between dwarf and human) Female Mage in DA2 Male Elvhen Mage in DAI As Blackwall said, one warden can save the fcking world if pressed, so.... Human Warden Rogue in Veilguard, FOR THE WARDENS!!!!
Rage, momentum, and mana are actually really cool imo - each class getting its own resource that it gains in a different way. Wouldn't have expected a system from Diablo 3 to make its way into DA in 2024 lol.
My first playthrough is going to be a dual wielding rogue. Now it's just figuring out if it will be as an Antivan Crow, Shadow Dragon, Lord Of Fortune or Gray Warden. But that's spell blade character is really calling my name here.
I'm really hoping that Spellblade will allow for more weapon options. Arcane Warrior remains the coolest specialization for mages for it's versatility of equipment options.
This is honestly my most anticipated game at this point. I finished Inquisition for the first time a couple of months ago including trespassers, and decided to replay it again a couple of weeks later, making different decisions and actually discovering a lot more than I had the first time round. Solas is now without a doubt my favourite character. And that romance was like a tragic love story. Lots of depth that I really appreciated. Bring on 31st October!
I’ve actually never played warrior. I always play bow based rogue or mage. I like to have a second mage with me in the other games to focus on healing/barrier spells though, so the ME style 2 companions has me re-thinking my companion strategies.
I'm following my cannon, kind of. DAO: Human Rogue Duellist DA2: Human Rogue Twin Blade Duellist DAI: Elf Mage Knight Enchanter And DATV: Elf Mage Spell Blade 😅 At least I'm consistent, haha 😂
DA Origins : Human Queen, heavy armored rogue (God I was just unkillable) DA2 : Mage Healer Hawke DA Inquisition : Elven knight enchanter DA Veilguard : Elven Veil jumper dual blade warrior (I'm not sure about the specialization).
While I've played each multiple times I have a personal head canon based around my favorite playthroughs. DAO: Control mage (Human) DA2: Archer Rogue (Human) DAI: Archer Rogue (Dalish) Sometimes in these games I try to guess the companions I'll like most and make a character that complements them. Chee and Kirby are the writers I know most, and they wrote the rogues. The mages seem the most interesting overall as companion NPC's, at least based on first impressions. So that would suggest I should be a warrior. I do like sustain tanks in RPG's. Maybe a Reaver can be that. That makes logical sense and puts some class diversity to my overall canon. On the other hand, skill expression through combat makes up a lot of one's experience in these games. And I do prefer ranged playstyles that have control and combo synergy. So that suggests rogue or mage. Basically I'm a mess and don't know what I'll be. I am leaning towards some kind of archer rogue or mage though.
This is almost my exact thought process as well, with the addition of Trick being my favorite writer and they wrote Taash (a warrior) which throws another wrench into the mix and confuses me further 😂 I think I'll end up re-starting the beginning of the game several times until I get a better feel for my preference in playstyle.
Knight Enchanter was a blast in DAI so Spellblade Mage it is for Veilguard. With an Antivan Crows faction-based character, I intend to maximise the drama with my soon to be husband : Lucanis. 😁
Four playthroughs planned. One for each of our lovely ladies. Elf Veil Ranger for Bellara. Elf Duelist for Neve. Quanari Slayer for Tash. Dwarf Champion for Harding. Is it October 31st yet?
Don't know yet. Played Warrior first in Origins, Mage in DA 2 and Rogue in Inquisition. I may go full circle and start with Warrior again, because my first (yet undecided) romance will be Harding, Neve or Lucanis and I don't want my class to overlap with theirs.
Antivan Crow Duelist 😅 my choice keeps getting better and better the more I learn about it. I usually go as a human first but my stealthy elfy ways are strong
DAO - Dwarf Dual-wield Warrior DA2 - 2-hnd Warrior Hawke DAI - Human 2-hnd Warrior DAV - Dwarf Warrior of some kind The fact is, I'll play every class and most races and do multiple romances; basically, multiple playthroughs. But my first is always warrior and usually Dwarf. Very excited for release!
before this video i thought i was set on mage, but rogue looks so fun!! for my first playthrough i will either be an elven mage, or a dwarven rogue. how i decide will either be through character creator with who i like the look of, ooor...i may just have to flip a coin lmao dao: human noble rogue da2: mage dai: dwarven rogue
I'm torn. I really like the look of the mage game play so i want to play it, but I've had my heart set on being a dwarf. I do love the elves, but my favorite race are the dwarves. So I keep bouncing between veil ranger dwarf and evoker elf. Only thing i know for sure is that I'll be playing a Lord of Fortune.
I'm always partial to rogue, but the mages look really cool this time around too! I love that we can swap from ranged to close combat styles, it always killed me having to spec for either an archer or a dual wielder in DAI.
I've decided I want to try out being a spellblade mage, because that looks like it will combine my two favorite play styles (spells and melee combat). I always agonize over playing either a rogue or mage, so this class looks almost custom designed for people like me. I can't wait to try it! I'll probably also play as an elf first time around, as part of the Antivan Crows, and I want to romance Lucanis (I'm intrigued to find out how romancing a "mage killer" as a mage will work).
I’ve played a Warrior in every previous DA game and I’ll be damned if I don’t keep up the tradition in Veilguard. Thedas has a long history of being protected by heroes who punch its problems in the face until they go away, and Ghilan’nain and Elgar’nan can *catch these muh fuckin hands*
As someone who has consumed the fantasy genre in every possible way my entire life, I never stick to one race, class, or archetype. I play everything and love it all lol. Which only makes choosing my Rook THAT much more challenging! Truly struggling to make any solid choice here. I'm just stoked to see necromancy, my favorite wizard school of magic, finally represented in this series! Mourn Watch, Reaper, Necro, all speak right to my soul, but I do love being a stealthy bow lady. >_>
Haha ... I'm so torn on race, class, and faction, I may start just flipping a coin to see which I go with first. They *all* look so good. (Normally I play as rogue first, then mage -- but heck, even the warrior is incredibly appealing to me this time. Argh!)
I always play assassin rogue first, I find it easier to have a strong physical dps with support companions for a first play through. Then I always play a mage second playthrough. Every time
Veilranger Veil Jumper deathcaller Antivan Crow Evoker shadow dragon Spell blade Lords of Fortune Reaper morne watch Duelist or slayer Warden No idea what order this is happening in though
It's nice to see a video and comment section that isn't just shitting on the game because it's BioWare and/or because it doesn't look like DA:O. The truth is, this series has never nailed down a specific identity. People complaining about the poppy colours in this game seem to forget how saturated the colour palette in Inquisition was. Gak green, anyone? As for the combat, DA2 was extremely mashy and movement focused, so I don't understand the fuss about this one. I -do- hope that we can turn off some of the red zone warnings, or at least that those warnings aren't present for all big enemy attacks. I tend to prefer a mix of ground and animation tells. I'm playing through Origins right now, and my plan is to (somehow) play through the whole series by Halloween. It's nice to have excitement for a BioWare game again. I think there is every possibility that they could drop the ball, but all signs so far are pointing toward a quality product. Leastwise much moreso than we've seen in the last couple of offerings from BioWare. Plus, their transparency is very nice to see.
I usually play mage first, and then I prefer rogues over warriors. I have to say though, this game kind of put things in reverse for me from what I have seen thus far. The mage gameplay I did not like thus far, definitely my least favorite, I absolutely love rogue, and I am very tempted to play warrior too. Probably will go rogue as I really liked the visuals of some of the skills I have seen. The combat looks very fun, I will miss controlling my companions but I can understand why we cannot with how this combat system is set up. I honestly thought, after the low level gameplay showcase, that there will be very little tactics but seeing some of the other showcases I am actually surprised with how it still feels tactical despite being more action focused. I'm hyped! My only pet peeve is how ice spells look with the huge snowflakes XD
I'm planning to go with a warrior, which not only do I like, but would also leave space in the team for some of my favorite companions, who are mostly mages (my other preferred class).
I’m almost always a mage, because magic primarily. The whole thing about the Circles also caught my attention but that’s a whole other conversation. As a break from the norm, I think my first playthrough will be an elf and Veil Jumper, because of the whole gods thing. I’m also eyeing Bellana for my first romance, and Spell blade as my specialisation. Next playthrough, I’m thinking human or qunari Shadow Dragon with Evoker specialisation. I’m also interesting in the Veil Ranger. I’ve grown quite fond of using the bow thanks to other games, and also because magic.
I usually always play as Mage so I will likely be that first time, but I have to say, the Rogue and Warrior both look so fun so I will have a very hard time choosing. I will also replay this game trying each class because that is typically what I do in all Dragon Age games. I am very excited to play after all the game play and reveals I have seen so far.
For my first Veilguard playthrough I've decided that my Rook will be: Race: Elf, Dwarf, Human, or Qunarii Class: Warrior, Rogue, or Mage Background: Crow, Warden, or Shadow Dragon (Veil Jumpers, Mourn Watch, & Lords of Fortune will be for later playthroughs) I've still got 45 days to actually decide.
I was considering Elf Rogue, but damn, Mage combat looks super fun! Don’t think I can go wrong with either, though. Haven’t been this excited for Halloween since I was a kid.
I started the series with Origins as a Dwarf Warrior, I plan on ending the series with a Dwarf Warrior as well, sounds like a good way to conclude the 1st canon playthrough.
i'm actually gonna do all classes eventually, but to start I've loved being a mage since da2 so that's probably what I'm gonna play first. I actually love that the game is tipping more towards action. I've always been an action enjoyer, I never liked tactical. it's been hard for me to get into bg3 because of that exact reason.
First is gonna be male Qunari warrior slayer who is lord of fortune. Then a female elf who is a spell blade part of the antivan crows. So she's sneaky with daggers and weapons but also csn use magic
Since this game looks like it makes being a mage fun, I will start with a mage. Then warrior and finally the rogue because I hardly ever play as one and again, this game makes it look insanely fun. Hope you all have as great of a time playing it as I hopefully do. 5 more days...
The mage in DA2 was my favourite. With DA origins and inquisition being about the same across the classes. So far for Vail guard I'm leaning to mage just to see what it's like as the only mage game play I've seen hasn't been impressive but maybe that was the player talking for the interview during the game or choosing a necrotic build against the necrotic resistant darkspawn, or having 3 range focused team member and spending more time dodging and trying to get some space to cast.
Definitely doing a mage! It's the class that always pulls me every time. The spellblade specialization looks interesting. We'll see what pulls me when I play.
I think I might start with a mage necromancer. Depends on the skill tree though. Elf Necromancer seems fun though in the game about the dread wolf. Mourne watcher being new seems intriguing as well. My back up will be a 2H dwarf warrior if I don't like the Necro skill tree. Also really want to try out a veil jumper archer. So many choices!
I literally can't stop myself from being an elven mage in any dragon age game it just adds so much more to the story
But I will say this is the first game I've been interested in using other classes
I usually end up starting with a humi mage when I start these games. It's just my comfort zone when getting into rpgs.
Same, but I’m gonna go with Qunari mage for first play through
Me too! However, for the first time ever I've actually been interested in playing as a Warrior.

Dwarf,Sword+ Shield Warrior in Origins.

Same. Always a fighter type. Just makes sense to me.
Im the crazy person already plotting out a run for each companion romance. 😅 I'm usually a mage main, but first, I've got Rogue (Veil Ranger) that I've GOT to try!
Nothing crazy about it. I did more than one run per romance in Inquisition just to see some different dialog lines regarding race or class.)

Already have each 8 of my world states, factions, characters, and romances planned out. 😂
Lmao did the same, first up is bellara 😂

Casually calling it exodus is rather surprising and interesting :)

Been playing through the entire series in anticipation for this game. I did warriors for dao, da2 and rogue for dai. So I’m going mage for this one
As always, mage will be my be my primary character but I'm undecided on what class I will play first.
DA Origins : Human Queen, heavy armored rogue (God I was just unkillable)

DA Inquisition : Elven knight enchanter
DA Veilguard : Elven Veil jumper dual blade warrior (I'm not sure about the specialization).

In my first playthrough it will probably be a mage spellblade I will be.
Gray Warden Warrior (champion) for me all the way
It seems like no one wants to play dwarf, but I think there will be some interesting story surprises with a dwarf Rook!
Ugh idk! They all look so fun!
It's true!!!
Quanri, Slayer, Lords of Fortune! Conan shall thread the cities of Thedas under his sandaled feet.
Every time
Mage for me. Still not sure which faction yet
Veilranger Veil Jumper
deathcaller Antivan Crow
Evoker shadow dragon
Spell blade Lords of Fortune
Reaper morne watch
Duelist or slayer Warden
No idea what order this is happening in though
Don't question and just consume!

Dwarf slayer or reaper is probably my first choice, but I like the idea of Elven veil ranger too
I usually play mage first, and then I prefer rogues over warriors.
Warrior in every game so far. I'll play one in this one.
For my first Veilguard playthrough I've decided that my Rook will be:
Race: Elf, Dwarf, Human, or Qunarii
Class: Warrior, Rogue, or Mage
Background: Crow, Warden, or Shadow Dragon (Veil Jumpers, Mourn Watch, & Lords of Fortune will be for later playthroughs)
I've still got 45 days to actually decide.
I was considering Elf Rogue, but damn, Mage combat looks super fun! Don’t think I can go wrong with either, though. Haven’t been this excited for Halloween since I was a kid.
DA2 was actually the first game that I liked playing a mage....I'm looking at the Spellblade specialization for a playtbrough too!
I don't think every game needs to open up their character creator for early access. I just want a good game on release.
I started the series with Origins as a Dwarf Warrior, I plan on ending the series with a Dwarf Warrior as well, sounds like a good way to conclude the 1st canon playthrough.
Definitely considering a mage and romancing Lucanis for the drama lol
i'm actually gonna do all classes eventually, but to start I've loved being a mage since da2 so that's probably what I'm gonna play first.
I broke down and preorder all because of IGN who did a better job than months of bioware marketing in just a single video. Haha
Since this game looks like it makes being a mage fun, I will start with a mage. Then warrior and finally the rogue because I hardly ever play as one and again, this game makes it look insanely fun. Hope you all have as great of a time playing it as I hopefully do. 5 more days...
Shadow Dragons reaper warrior for me.
