This project has finally come together. Take a look at how I built the stand for my 150 gallon aquarium. Donn't mind that I am wearing Cappy; my son loves this hat! LOL.
Learning as I go so we can have fun in the fish keeping hobby:-) The BW rug was a gift from a buddy... it must have been a garage sale find or something like that. ;-)
Great video bro I’m in desperate need of a 125 gallon stand I wish I had the great skills like u to build one but I don’t trying to figure it out great vid
Has the tank failed yet? That six foot span - a single 2 x 4 on front and back - is not going to support the weight of the tank. The 2 x 4 will deflect downward under weight and if the glass doesn't crack then the silicone seal will pop - either way it will be a wet basement. I have seen it happen on a 5 foot tank.
So far...so good. It's been up and running for over two years. If it fails, TH-cam will have another video and I give you credit for warning me... and you can comment... "We'll, I told you so". 😉
I don't have a project list. I bought a bunch of 2x4s and a 4x8 sheet of plywood (in this case its OSB because its cheaper) and then I began to cut and assemble. The size is 73.5 inches long, 19.5 inches wide. 30 inches tall. When I build my next stand, I will definitely lay out the peices of wood I use and the dimensions. Thanks for dropping by the channel and for your kind words!
I try to buy or use straight boards.. I've had to toss some 2X4's back to the pile but I try to pick quality wood (it's not always easy). I also add the top board to the stand and I've been very fortunate that when I put the level on it, it's flat. I've got five DIY stands downstairs in my fish room and I haven't had any issues so far. I do not have a jointer...
This stand is 73.5 inches long, 19.5 inches wide. 30 inches tall. I grew out a Silver Arrowanna in the 150 gallon. I just sold him... the tank is up and running but no stock in it for the first time in 2 years. I'm not sure what's going in there next.
I am working on a 125g stand and I want to use a 40g breeder for my sump. How is the standing holding up with the water in it? Any issues with the weight?
The stand has held up well. I did change the front though. I didn't like the single whole piece front. It was heavy and it didn't attach great, so I made actual doors for it. But the stand itself has held up great. I have an Arowana in the 150 gallon, but he's growing so fast I may need to upgrade to a larger set up. Or, trade him for something else that's not as big and with have the attitude this fish has. LOL. Good luck on your stand!
@@GebosGarage Thank you. I was trying to avoid the middle supports (like your 90g vid) If I don't put them in then my sump will work great. Glad to see it works with yours.
Well... initially I made it as one large removable front panel. But it was heavy, and I didn't like it. I mean, I did like that it was completely removable, giving me full access, but later I decided to do something different. I took the panel back to my garage, cut it in half (right down the middle) and turned it into two large doors that I attached with hinges. The left side has since warped a little bit, and although it looks fine, it bugs me. I will be remaking the doors for this cabinet and I want to thank you for making me revisit this. It's time for an update video on the stand. I just wish lumber prices weren't so high right now. Thanks for visiting the channel, I'll mention you in the follow up video. Cheers!
Sorry Chris. This was really just a video of me building the stand and how it turned out. It wasn't meant to be a tutorial. I do have other videos of me building stands and all the measurements. Check out the playlist "aquarium related"
Craig, I had no idea you were so handy...
Oh, nice best western floor mat... lol

Very good job nice fish stand
Thanks 👍
COOL VIDEO 👍😎
thanks for watching.
Looks good! I am gonna build a 125 gallon stand with my dad soon! We are gonna document it for youtube as well!
That will be awesome. I hope we get to see it!

Agreed. Any tank that’s longer than 4 feet needs a Center vertical support.
Hi there, can you tell us the exact amount of wood you used and all the dimensions of the cuts you made. your stands are great looking

How do you resolve any imperfection in the 2x4? Would this cause uneveness once that tank sits on top of the stand?

very good. excelent work. what type of wood is.
Thanks! Untreated 2x4's and a sheet of OSB for the top.
What is the dimensions of the tank and stand? Great job on the stand. What do you plan on putting in that tank?

Hello, What is the size of the wood that you have used? I would like to build something like that for a 130 gal cube pool.
This is built using 2x4 lumber

How did you end up doing the front panel? Is it removable?

@@GebosGarage thank you! I just picked up a 150 and now have to build my own stand for it so I appreciate your examples!
How's the stand holding up? I need to build one too
Its doing just fine. I'm still happy with it.
How’s that tank stand holding up? I see it’s been 2 years since you posted this.
Still have the same tank on it. Hasn't moved. The fish have changed, the aquascaping has changed. The stand is perfect!
@@GebosGarage awesome good to know. I’m planning on making one now for my 125 gallon. Thanks for the quick response
Theres no flex in the center right?
None.
Not one dimension. Or what consideration of size in relationship to the tank or even suggested height.
This stand is 73.5 inches long, 19.5 inches wide. 30 inches tall.

You didn't give dimensions measurements of any sort. How is this supposed to help anyone build a stand with no vital information??
