OMG!!! It's been lying here for 2 years, and I've spent ages looking for it (and typing it in manually). Thank you sooooooo much! I am off to do some changes in my 100 drawings. P.S. Never going to skip your videos.
Something I use that helps drive templates is using iLogic Forms to change these values quickly without having to open up Parameters tab or go into the sketch. Good info about linking the description to values and making sure the export button checked, always forget that!
Great stuff! Your videos are always entertaining to watch as well and what I like is you get straight to the point, videos aren't unnecessarily long. Awesome work man
Hi Dean, This is Jonathan exHartwell. This guy is a legend, He calls himself Neil but I prefer Robson , I was looking into external rules you should too, I will look through "Neil's" vids for that. didn't know about the description thing.
Fantastic... but if I author a custom frame member, this expression is lost and I cannot get filenames or descriptions with matching length value. Any fix for that?
nice Neil and great timing the wife has Cory on again so here I am again absorbing a bit of the old Tfi .were Im working now we have loads of academics who were pushing down the inventor route and they are going to want to squirt their master pieces out to 3d printers is there any chance you could do a Tfi to cover this for them .Cheers Robb
Hello Neil! Excellent video, I had use the iLogic feature, but has been hard to know what command to use and to create a little thing because I don't know how to call it. So, where I can find a list of commands or some help in this issue..
recently found you on youtube and love your videos and the way you deliver the material. I recently bought a laptop before viewing your videos and unfottunately it only has 2Gb of VRAM but I has all theother stuff. damn it. anyways, I am a technician and am into CAD. I would like you to direct me where on your channel can I go to find beginners tutorials on using AutoCAD and Inventor from the beginning? I cant seem to find videos on beginner stuff. thanks
Great video, as uselessly :) And it reminded me of an old issue I have not yet been answered. When I work in sheet metal, I often rightclick on the flatpattern in tree, and chose extent to see the x-y size on my part. But is it possible to derive these values into the drawing, like u do with parameters in this video? Hope it's not TO specific a ? for you to answer :D (and all so hope my dane-english make sens)

In the Bill of material there is a field "STANDARD" but it cannot be found in the iproperties of the part. Where is that field?

great video
you are the man!
Does this trick work for file names as well? Thanks.
Nah file name isn't a property as such, so this won't work for that. However there are other ways to control file name, iLogic for example

When You are making a plate why not use Sheet metal environment so Thickness would already be named property.
Great video, as uselessly :)
