    That was by far the most thorough oil change video I have seen in a long time. The only part was missing, what's showing people how to reset their oil change notification in the dash screen, and reminding them to pick up a sticker to place in their own window after the oil change. Other than that, everything else was perfect.
    By the way, what type of torque wrench did you use? You should add that in the description with an affiliate link.

      Thank you very much. Thats a good idea, I'll update the description. The torque wrench is a PITTSBURGH PRO 3/8 in. Drive 5-80 ft. lb. Click Torque Wrench from harbor freight ( www.harborfreight.com/38-in-drive-5-80-ft-lb-click-torque-wrench-63880.html )

    Hey there, great video! I’m looking to start doing my own oil changes on my 2016 Nissan Altima. I saw you jacked up the vehicle, pardon my dumb question but did you jack up the front of the vehicle? And would you recommend getting ramps to do this job? I have most everything in the video (besides a filter wrench) but wanted to see if I need to invest in anymore tools first. Any info is appreciated!

      Thank you!!! First of all, there are no dumb questions. All your questions are good and relevant. Yes, I did lift the front of the vehicle due to the tight space. Ramps are a great idea. Since I was in an apartment, I tried to minimize space, so I always used jack stands. Tools used in the video should be more than enough. However, if you are thinking of performing more car maintenance, here are some good overall tools: th-cam.com/video/sc504JgBJts/w-d-xo.html
      If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask.

      @@mcgurrentertainment sweet! Thanks for replying! Yeah I’m in an apartment too and have a single car garage so I can likely do this myself. Just started venturing into vehicle repairs. I had a check engine light on my other vehicle (a 2018 dodge grand caravan), ended up replacing the EVAP leak detection pump and then thermostat. Not too bad but I had to purchase jack and stands for that job. I’m trying to save money where I can and I figured oil changes would be a good place to start! I’m sure I saved myself a few hundred dollars on the other repairs i did already. Appreciate your help again’

      Verify with your owners manual, but if I recall, it's 0W-20 for the QR25DE and 5W-30 for the VQ35DE

    I have a 2017 2.5 ive been trying to find viscosity rate but ive seen some say 5w30 some say 0w20 so im very confused

    • @mcgurrentertainment
      @mcgurrentertainment  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Technically, it's both. My Frontier has the same engine, and it uses 5w-30. This one uses 0w-20. It's not uncommon for a car manufacturer to change the oil spec over the years. Same with Ford (2020 Mustang GT = 5w-30 and 2022 Mustang GT = 5w-20).
      When in doubt, refer to the owners manual.

      Pretty much. However, it looks like nissan recommends 0w-20 for your year (per the manual).

    QUESTION, rule of thumb I have constantly read is change full synthetic every 5000 miles .
    HOWEVER if you check the oil and it looks decently clean and it's been 5000 miles does it still make sense to change the oil even though it's reached the 5000 mile mark???

    • @mcgurrentertainment
      @mcgurrentertainment  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Wow, that's pretty interesting
      I've seen oil change color in 100 miles, never heard of one being clean in that many miles. Sounds like you have a pretty clean engine.
      Sadly, oil color does not determine oil breakdown. To have a definitive answer, you would need to send an oil sample out to determine its condition. With that being said, oil technology has come a long way of the years, and oil has been lasting much longer than before. There are oils made to last 15k+ miles (which was unheard of years ago).
      Overall, I would recommend following the specifications of the owners manual and oil manufacturer. There's no need to roll dice on engine maintenance when the job is cheap and easy. Good question!!!

      Seems very reasonable. Even the synthetic blends last up to 7500 miles.

    Is it fair it would take the whole 5 quarts to put it to the max mark?

    • @mcgurrentertainment
      @mcgurrentertainment  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Let your vehicle sit for about 30 mins and check the level before adding more oil. You don't want to overfill your engine.
