I've studied many, many conversions, and I have to say that these two have probably built the most thought-out and skillfully crafted conversion I have seen so far. Kudos to you both!
He is a sharp guy. Obviously a good engineer who thinks things through. The EXACT type of person who slows down and say? “Need some help”? A good man ! Enjoyed the video!
I just bought a used 1 ton dually flatbed 4x4 and have been thinking of building a Stealth-type camper for it and this video gave me some good ideas thank you! IMO they should stay away from long trips south of the border...their truck/camper will be a target for sure. There's plenty to see here in the states, Canada and Alaska. Heck I'd plan a summer trip to Alaska and do a lot of fishing and gold panning! Rig-up a pair of dirt bikes on racks!
Well we did work 60 hrs a week for 30 years but were able to retire early and now enjoy RVing (& travel) as much as we can. I'd really like to get more off road and what you two have done to your rig is amazing. Our next rig is going to be a 4X4, but not as big as we won't be having to live in it. Your blog is very well presented and informative. Best of luck!
The diesel setup is fascinating. Seems like a nice option. Other tubers live in these super tiny rigs and yours is bigger and better. Thank You for sharing your lives with us!
Great build and setup! There is nothing that can compare to enjoying the fruits of your labor by living on something you built with your own hands, blood and sweat. Happy travels!
From the outside appearance I never would have guessed there was so much space that fits everything you need. This is a very good build. Kudos to you both! Love it.
This is about 80% of what I want. Take that idea of bed and put it on a 4wd Isuzu diesel truck, or a Fuso, with added water tanks and filtration system for unlimited boondocking. Maybe a little garage for a Rokon Mototractor, or just a fat tire ebike and keep the pass thru. Pretty inspiring design to see it like this though. Can't wait to start mine.
I absolutely love this. So well thought out. The extra outside storage is particularly good. Having a good, solid outside storage is a must if you are going out an about exploring, and doing it from a small space. You need to take your life outside more, so keeping useful storage outside for outdoors equipment is great for that. Good idea on gutting out some of the inefficiently used spaces and repurposing them. A lot of small spaces are designed for, not sure how to put it, to be the most welcoming for the majority of people I guess? Not "too cramped" or "too sterile" or "too sharp" and other such things, but in doing so they tend to waste a lot of space in looking certain ways, or having so much space dedicated to X, which takes space away from Y, and so on. Curves are the biggest curse in small spaces. They might look nice, but in reality they take away a lot of useful space way too often. A lot of people down-sizing are typically looking to make more use of space in every way possible. They can usually find better ways of making use of that space and doing it in an aesthetically pleasing way. It is a weird paradox lol In my case, I would actually go one further in optimizing space use - I would put the toilet in the shower room, at least as long as the toilet itself can be made airtight with an external vent for airflow so no moisture gets in to it. This not only gives you a massive amount of space in the current toilet room, it also gives you a nice comfy shower seat. Double win. Not for everyone though. Needs the proper toilet for it. Speaking of spaces, the locking system is great. Great idea. Electromagnetic locks make a lot of sense where mechanical ones just seem impractical for things being accessed regularly. They take basically no power if you design them properly (being locked by gravity rather than active current).
The biggest (pun) factor in being able to live full-time in a camper or small trailer is is not the size of the rig; rather it's the size of the people habitating therein. It can be nearly a perfect situation for some people (those under 6' and not heavy of build). For larger persons it's sort of like wearing shoes that are slightly too small (you can stand it for a little while). For people well above average size it can be an ordeal. For the truly huge, it's not even doable except in an emergency (certainly not for two 6' 6"+ and heavily built individuals). But they're FANTASTIC for a couple of quite small and slim people.
I'm shipping my Sprinter 3500 rig out from Galveston, Texas to Cartagena, Colombia around March 2020 for a 2 year trip into South America. I like your rig; well done.
This set up is "EXACTLY" how I've wanted my personal camper rig to be and have differed a camper due to obvious downsides of existing rigs. You guys could easily start a business model building these models for overlanders as I see an untapped segment in current models offered. A genius design and build!
Unbelievable how much space it has inside !!! That slider does all the magic. The only place where i d say it s some lost space is the toile5 an shower separate although it ads more comfort. I would have went with a wet bath and toilet
Very clever design. Always wondered what the inside of a vehicle like that would look like. I like the escape hatch idea, and kitchen window is really cute. I'm guessing the mattress is regular foam because memory foam is very heavy.
Thanks for sharing and providing insight into your awesome rig! Would be very interested to hear & learn about a conversion from dually to super singles.
Very lovely rig you own. Ditching propane is the best thing you did. Those diesel heaters works better and cheaper to operate and less prone to fire hazards. And induction burners are just as good as conventional ones. Plus it’s so annoying to fill up those 20# or 30# propane tanks every time you run out
Excellent build. I would have gone with a slightly bigger cab for the rig and made provisions to be able to pull a trailer. Still, a very thought out build that stands out !
Great video. Love this home. You two have done a really great job figuring out how to live. Greg's workmanship and skills are amazing. I love ice cream too - Ginger you are my kinda gal. I hope you are enjoying your adventure, and life is good :)
You have built a Monsterpiece One of the best overlander trucks ive ever seen I would actually prefer that thing over an earthromer if i had the choice
Love the rig. I like how you took a tc and modified it to what you wanted. I'm not a fan of the camplight truck campers. I would have done a northernlight or a bigfoot, but that's just me. It would have been a little harder to modify the fiberglass campers for sure. Not sure i like getting rid if the propane completely. I like it for heat and cooking, but definatly a good choice on changing out to compressor fridge. I have been thinking of outfitting my truck camper to a flatbed. The boxes you made fit well and make the rig look propionate and practical. Storage always seems to be a problem in a rig you spend alot of time in. I wish I could live with less stuff. Do you know how much the rig weighs? I think weight is a big factor when it comes to alot of offroading situations like sand and mud.
Hey! We’re pretty heavy - 17k with fuel and water, fully loaded. If we want to be able to air down, we need to upgrade the tires as planned. We know other overland rigs around our weight running the bigger single tires and they are really able to go almost anywhere
@@DrivenToAdventures thanks for the reply. Most dont seem to know what they weigh. I'm around 10k, so I can use the load E tires that are easier to find. I now realize that I had watched some of your videos. I thought the composting toilet video was really good. Most dont recommend the air head. Im changing out mine to that same set up. The urine will go into my black tank. I also remeber your struggles with your 7.3. I hope that worked out. Those motors are getting harder to find. Good choices on the rig. I envy your lifestyle.... I think your missing a pet. Seems that's a requirement for full timing.?.?
Could easily increase solar production with some 315 w panels with similar dimensions. Could literally have everything inside electric powered. It would also be cool to get a fully electric truck camper that is 100% solar powered
Really well-designed build, and great utilization of space. I always watch these videos wondering if there's going to be a toilet and a shower. You guys lack for nothing.
Cool rig, I love your voice! Such a pretty women. Greg is a lucky frenchy. The camper turnbuckles blocking some storage, do you have a plan to change to something different? I watched your build videos but didn’t see much on the inside. I’m glad you guys got it covered here, but should do one on your channel. Do you have footage of the Camper build/ mods? I would love to see some footage of that.
One of the best on wheels house. Guys you have got everything.
misbah Humera thank you!

Yes. They have to be very careful in Central America. A very dangerous area of the world. Sorry to have to say this. But is the truth.

Pretty smart the way the bathroom and shower were built. Hands down amazing!
I love how frank they are bout living in small spaces and those stowage slide outs are the boss
One of the best RV 's I have seen it's like a small studio flat.
Wow! Great truck camper, I love what you two did with it!

Amazing how much room there is in there. Love the pull out cooking storage.
Fantastic video! Please do more! I am envious over how handy he is and the rig! Wow nice rig!

Awesome build and beautiful, fantastic craftsmanship. Live large.
Finally somebody takes a truck and mods it to make sense for them, great job love it.
Well designed, incredible thought given to all the details. And the amount of storage is fantastic.
Maintenance truck and Earthroamer had a baby. Nice mix.
That is a very nice set up! Looks like it’s a fun place to be on the road and travel trip. It’s one of best set ups I seen on TH-cam

That truck is so bad ass!!!
He needs to manufacture this Idea
Its like a tardis. Bigger on the inside. Lots of nice touches. Quite like this build.

yes i agree propane is a no no for long rangers as it is not available everywhere.
Wow! I am impress! Beautiful reno..great tips & ideas.
Love it... one of the best i have seen. Everything fits in... and everything you need is there.
nice, a huge change yeh.glad to see you both happy and free spirits
That is one Superman you have there to do all that building. I wish I have his talents.
they didnt build the whole thing they bought the camper and just changed a few things
.. what a great video. Good people it seems! Great talent in building your rig! Much happiness to you both!

Idk who that lady’s fooling-that pass through is too small, in case of emergency and panic they’re gonna get stuck there 😬
I'm also wondering if the truck's rear window can be opened from outside?
No way either of those people are making it through that thing, esp. in a timely manner.
Yea you may want to try that
"escape route" so that the bandito's don't violate you while your stuck in it.
Ostrich syndrome
Cańt wait to watch their Ambulance build & walkthrough!
Very clever design. Always wondered what the inside of a vehicle like that would look like. I like the escape hatch idea, and kitchen window is really cute. I'm guessing the mattress is regular foam because memory foam is very heavy.
Is that passthrough window tiny bc of perspective or what?
Love the fact that you guys built it. Nice job!

Well done
Love what you have built. Very innovative & comfy Great ideas.
Cozy, nice craftsmanship

WOW - why is it that companies that build these campers for a living do not get advice from people who actually use them? Y'all did nice work.
Cool rig up for sure. Our son is a missionary in Santa Ana, Elsalvador Best of luck in your travels have fun
very fire savvy, really good,. Not a lot of people talk about that in their tiny homes.
_Way cool, and a nice rig, you can see there was a lot of thought that went into it!_

Great advice and video 👏😎
Very nice truck camper

No idiotic wet bath! 👏😁👍

This is an amazing set up.
Great build!

Wow, saving this. Nice. Just wondering, Can they really crawl through?
PositivelyNice we can!
Do you have to keep your cab window unlocked somehow?
Really well-designed build, and great utilization of space.
I always watch these videos wondering if there's going to be a toilet and a shower.
You guys lack for nothing.
Uhhhh, Greg is outstanding! What exactly does he do for a living?
Great home, just that crawl through looks super narrow
SAFE,SAFE, SAFE TRAVELS !
Man thats alot of power. Could be pc gaming in there full time streaming. Where's the antenna!?! And 5g LTE hotspot?!
Good video, keep them coming 👍
when money is no issue, the world is your oyster. work hard play hard.
