    Fantastic simple and efficient layout, love the bed space and headroom. I applaud your guts and courage adopting that lifestyle as a single woman and am extremely envious.
    We're looking to build a camper in Thailand, and I want to incorporate a similar layout as it lends itself to a drop-down rear deck with extendable outdoor kitchen and seating at the rear. Most removable campers here slide into a pickup enclosure and do not facilitate a midway door in the side which, as with your set up, improves the layout considerably.
    I'd love to see a video on the coupling set up showing the base flatbed structure and the connecting accommodation pod and tanks base.
    You note the bed space size but what is the length of your lower level living space please?
    I'm also curious to know where your spare wheel lives.
    I would suggest considering a cab access hatch behind your bed steps as another security measure. We'd want that for our dogs to be able to pass in and out.
    Wishing you the best of luck and fortune in your travels and your TH-cam endeavours, you certainly deserve it.

    On my telephone, I can adjust the playback speed of TH-cam videos.
    On any video longer than six minutes, I often watch at 1.25x or faster.
    .
    Part-way through your tour, I verified my playback speed was 'normal'.
    For some reason... I was sure I set you at 2x.
    Great tour, excellent content, superb graphics, and several thousand words at somewhere around 200mph.

    This video is extraordinarily well-written and edited:
    * different camera elevations
    * sweeps
    * pull-ins and -outs
    * graphics, such as the overlay of the jack attachments
    * thorough, zero extraneous flub
    * narration over 'B' roll.

    Lindsay, wise good girl to get out and see America, especially the west. I'm from New York state and love the American west. The solidude and the mountains are absolutely gorgeous.
    Make nature your home. I'm glad you did it at a young age. I'm now 70 and am just doing it at my ol age. Every day is the first day of the rest of my life.
    I'm beginning with a 30' trailer but I want to build a home on my 4X4 Dodge 2500 truck bed to live in far off the road. I bought land in four western states, Oregon, California, Colorado and western Texas to live and camp on. I need a land foot print to call home off the grid. I'll rotate to all four places. I have Florida land but it's to wild down here, gotta get out, sell the land.💫

    I was going through my subscribed list a while ago and wondered if life "or worse" got in the way of youtube and just now realized you posted a video a month ago, good thing I had not unsubscribed after all !. I like how you gave a lot of detailed and technical information that a lot of owners would miss or not have a clue about. I had no idea that there was a specialty camper manufacturer in Red Deer, ( I farm up in the Grande Prairie area ) and I see their more elaborate campers are insanely expensive as are any of these type of roamer type campers. As you pointed out all the rear suspension modifications, this reminds me all too well of my brothers one ton dually crew cab with a slide in camper. Although the camper has no slide outs, its still heavy and in fact ready for the road its 13500 or more depending on water and crap thrown in and the GVW is 13000 for the truck. He had to add two leaves per side, also had airbags installed and that's a whole other topic, then after some years of stressful summer holiday driving installed stableload wedges as it was a scary unit driving in much of a side wind or going around curves and that helped some, then I convinced him to spend the bucks on larger aftermarket anti sway bars both front and rear ( his ford comes with both from the factory ) and finally after all of that the truck handles decent in some fairly adverse weather conditions. I am only guessing that the 12200 puts you a bit over your GVW given the single rear tire situation ?. You may have seen the one ton dodge dually photos circulating around the internet lately as per the frame having cracked and left him stranded at the side of the road in Mexico, that camper he has is one insanely stupid heavy unit with three slide outs and packed with gear and water in the tanks it would have been way over the trucks GVW and finally the frame said NO MORE !. The unit you have plus all the additions you've done to it, that is one fantastic equipped unit.

    • @largemarge1603
      @largemarge1603 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Charles,
      Are you referring to the EarthRoamer on the 5500 chassis?
      That rig is substantially stouter than this pick-up truck.
      .
      Pro Tip from long-time Mexico travelers:
      * be aware of the 'dead cops', the vernacular for the absurd vehicle-slowing mounds of pavement -- or steel 'helmets' -- across some roads.
      Those 'dead cops' are often steep enough and high enough to ruin your suspension and wheels... or break your frame.

    • @charlesb4267
      @charlesb4267 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@largemarge1603 I was more referring to specialty campers such as hers or also from that same company designed for a 1 ton truck that have the full width flat bottom theme ( not designed to slide into the back of a typical box type pickup ) but which I believe are also geared around a 1 ton that require no separate flat deck but the whole unit is built/mounted onto the truck and has the lower compartments as part of the camper so it becomes what I will off hand refer to as a "smallish medium roamer". If you have ever watched Tim and Kelsey who did the whole Panamerican highway, they had what I would refer to as a mini roamer ( made by Maltec in Europe I believe ) onto a Toytota landcruiser they modify, again very expensive for what is there but also compact and capable off road. Then the big roamers $$$, huge and heavy and some have very large tires and some on Unimogs or that type of vehicle. Well beyond the price range the average person could ever easily afford to own.
      I've never heard of these mounds of pavement or steel embedded into the pavement, is this something they have installed in the last 40 years or less ?. The reason I ask is that I've never been to Mexico but my dad was back in the mid 80's on a trip with a caravan tour type company and my dads fifth wheel was constantly falling apart suspension wise, was never made for the crap road sections they have down there ( which really is no different then the main Alaska Highway in sections ! )

    Curious why change to this camper rig over the earthroamer? Aren't earthroamers more capable, bigger & secure with the integrated shell with passthrough verses a "camper" that sits on a tray? Thanks.

    • @largemarge1603
      @largemarge1603 ปีที่แล้ว

      @WHI,
      Although built on a 5500 for greater GVWR, that capacity is absorbed by the heavier quarters.
      .
      BTB,
      Are you familiar with the EarthRoamer weld-in reinforcement for the rear frame?
      Apparently, used as intended, the rear over-hang -- behind the axle -- creates an unexpected stress.
      The frames break.
      .
      That is a problem in Mexico with inattentive drivers crashing over their traffic-slowing devices attached to the road -- 'dead cops' in the local lingo.

    • @GirlGoneGlamping
      @GirlGoneGlamping  ปีที่แล้ว

      The earthroamer was just a rental. And I really like that the camper is removable, better on taxes and for resale value. IMO
