I'm somewhat of a traveller and I cannot express my upset at arriving at destinations that, just a few years before, were unspoilt places of wonder, which have now been littered with shacks, shops, bars, night clubs, etc, all to accomodate the influx of people who travelled there after seeing social media influencers promote them.
It would carry more weight if he didn't upload to Instagram three times a day using all the same filters and photography styles literally every other vanlife influencer does.
Either way, people are followers and copycats! Now that he posted this, EVERYONE’s gonna try to follow while it’s “trendy” that or talentless people will make “reaction” videos. I see what you mean though…
I met Alex in Utah when I was riding my motorcycle cross country and I was blown away with his skoolie. He’s a skilled person and knows his shit. Also, he’s an inspiring traveler. Wishing him all the best for his next adventure.
My first time meeting Alex is when I was broken down in Joshua Tree needing a part and he was on a beeline for me with said part to get me back on the road and we had never met before. What a guy!
This is truly an incredible DIY build. The overall simplicity of the camper with how many features it contains is ... an engineering feat. Great job Alex!!
As for size, it's still a big vehicle. It's certainly capable off-road but the width and length of your chassis can really limit some of your exploration options while offroading in places like National Forests here in the US. Not to mention the overall height of his vehicle. Your vehicle may be strong and rigid but mature trees are a lot more strong and rigid 😅.
Are you guys just making assumptions? Or have you been in those regions? You can find tons of videos who have more expensive rigs than his travelling safely thru those regions
This book is a comprehensive guide for anyone who wants to create various types of garden buildings. The book provides clear and detailed instructions with numerous photos. th-cam.com/users/postUgkxBE-xSmFU7PIaMFUmmhnFxE035s5svtxeAs a novice, I appreciated the book's step-by-step approach to the basics of building. The book also appeals to the more advanced DIY enthusiast with projects ranging from simple to complex. The book is up to date with the latest trends, such as solar panels, green roofs, and sweet chestnut shakes. The book has inspired me to pursue more projects in the future.
I wish this man the best of luck and pray for his safety throughout his travels. He’s bound to end up in some trouble but he seems like he has his trip planned so I have high hopes about his adventures.
Good idea with the extra storage boxes you are planning. I know one thing I'D do. Increase the size of the fuel tank. Or add a tank. But 55-gallons ain't gonna cut it. Not for the remote places you're heading. At 7.8 mpg you're basically looking for a fuel stop every 300 miles or so.
I'm glad I found this comment, I was getting worried that no one had called that out. Does he realize how large South America and Africa are? Not only the fuel stops but he talks about the engine issues in the video. The cost of fuel on that trip is gonna be insane.
This rig is incredible. This is flirting with perfection. I'm particularly impressed with the flexibility of the bed and/or dinette options. The open concept lends itself well to the space while adding the flexibility of hosting parties of varying sizes, even overnight. I am a fan Sir.
What an awesome build! This is further proof that there are many ways to make travel affordable. There is no need to drop 750K. Necessity is the mother of invention!
Smart guy. Really thought of everything, he is prepared for stuff that didn’t happen yet or might not even happen at all. True survivalist right there. He should have plenty of guns too though.
Best design aproach and successful solutions Ive seen. Im an Architect and looking forward to design and build an overlander. Been doing lots of research for years (Also in boats). You're the closest Ive seen to my own approach. Hope we can compare notes in the future when I'm ready to start. Cheers to your truck!
Absolutely amazing setup: only downside i can think of is the 7 MPG. It might not have been too expensive to buy and convert the rig itself, but that operating cost is HUGE. For reference, From the Alaskan Artic Coast down to the Dorian Gap in Panama is 7,400 miles. Being generous, 1000 gallons, at an 3.25 USD means $3,250 in gas costs alone
lol the show he was watching 2:37 is the video I just watched that led me to this video. great build, highly recommend. dude converted a school bus to be a into a multipurpose rig as a mobile work station, hauler and camper.
Impressive and my hats off to this guy... I wish you the best with your truck and you are right: just travel to places where it has not been ruined by instagram ;)
Oh wow that's amazing. Camping in -40C just to see if you can is outstanding!!! l would love to do this!! Let me know when you'd like a companion to keep you company
Wow I was so fascinated at the technology and infrastructure in the one rig I like the way the is thought of every little or big detail and covered them so well...kudos to him God bless and watch over him on his endeavor😊
Wow Alex did a phenomenal job ..how cool going through that much water ..its beautiful ..an you can party in it ..what more could you ask for .. thought of everything ..love the toilet shower ...brilliant ..Thanku for sharing much love an God bless always from Cyprus big love to you an your cute family x
I really enjoyed the video and all the effort that he put into that build. He did say "bear protection mesh" though. I feel he should research bears a bit more!! lol
Imagine in the future when flying your own air vehicle is common. Airship mobile house will become popular also. Such a great time. Lucky for those people who live during those time in the near future.
looking at how we are right now that future is faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaar far away.
Those are based of the Steyr 12m18, drove a lot with them when I was in the Austrian Armed Forces. They go anywhere and are practically indestructible, ours just are way nastier and don't come with any sorts of creature comforts hahahaha.
Good luck getting through Africa without getting everything stolen from your van. Including your stereo, fridge, air-conditioning and TV because you didn’t have “special permits” for them.
Justin, great job interviewing Alex and showing off his rig. That's a pretty incredible set up he put together for himself. Thanks for giving us a look and letting us see what he's done.
perhaps im missing something, what does it have that a van don't? another question, that's relatively cheap, where would u recommend to buy vehicles on earth?
I love it man, I will build something similar. I've been looking for something that seems perfect in size, not huge like most of them are. This is perfect!
“Hasn’t been ruined by instagram yet”…Amen to that…wishing this man finds peace somewhere.
It was a great comment. I think
I might use it some time in the near future.

This guy and his rig are so ready to survive on Mars! He's so incredibly knowledgeable about his rig which is going save his life for sure.
It seems like a nice thing to have. No idea why it will save his life, though.

Absolutely can not wait to check this rig out in person someday. And so honored to get a little cameo in this tour 🤣
Haha glad you saw it 😄
Haha we thought that would be fun!

Man this guy has the best rig out there. Not too big, not too small, with everything needed for going arround the world. I loved this.
As for size, it's still a big vehicle. Couldn't go on the trails I love for camping in the rockies....Definitely way cool to not he as cramped though
The thing is corny . And yea it’s freaking huge
A few cameras would have been nice
Some guys in Africa or south America are really going to appreciate you building that for them
he better invest in an AK or avoid the bad spots
im sure hes not stupid enough to drive that around the world without a safe place or armour... I hope man
I pray this dude does his research.
Glad he didnt make it very flashy. But the bikes would definitely give it away.
Yup

This gentleman should do more conversions because I’m pretty sure he can sell his current rig for more than a quarter mill
Its not all about money.....
@@palote99 did I say that? I’m sorry if I gave that impression.
Not even close. Half a mil easy. Fully decked out similar rigs are well more than a million.

Ive seen some similar to this for 1.4 mil or sumn

You too can do this for the low low price of already having family wealth and not having to worry about overhead.
This rig is so well done. Kudos to him.
That is a beautiful monster. I wish Alex the best in his travels. Happy miles Alex!
A place to chill with AC and no bugs to get you. Its really high end for your work, its really nice man thats awsome.

Clearly a very intelligent, capable individual! The truck is unreal
This is what I dream of, this man has the right idea. And I think from here forth im going to set this as a goal for myself as well.
This is so awesome! Easily one of my favorite builds. I love how he thought of everything in advance. Major props.
this guy is a baller, smart, sociable and goal driven. got his own rig down to a tee
Hi there, I am building up HFO. This is amazing. Mobile dwellings rock and roll because they give you the best of all.
Thanks friend. Hope your build is going well. Hit me up for a tour when it's done!

It's cool to see the vehicles I work on in the military used like this. We have an LMTV with the box he's got, it's also green on the inside.
This is the best build truck I have seen in years. Wow!
King of offroad campers!!! What a rig!
Absolute genius. This man is a brilliant mechanic, electrician, plumber, and interior designer altogether.
Great truck. You did great job, thank you for sharing.. Enjoy it and have fun..
This truck is miserably perfect~~~
Dude so much respect! You've clearly put in the work and can now enjoy your creation! Happy and safe travels my man.
Love the kilpsch speakers, practical as it only needs a few amp to power it.
