I have a Lux Ateca. And love it. However, for absolute driveway kudos the verdict is the correct one, with the discerned Porsche values of where the money has been spent, is spot on. The ‘but’ has to be the price though.................

This would have been an interesting comparison if it was the base Macan, which has the exact same 2.0 engine as the Ateca, making them a good comparison, also, despite having the same engine the base Macan is ALLOT more expensive and has less standard equipment, but its price difference is not as drastic as stepping up to the Macan S. Using the Macan S in this comparison is kinda meaningless

Fun reviews - I like the dynamics between the two of you. Not only is the Macan considerbaly more expensive, I suspect the servicing costs are considerably higher being a Porsche. I ordered an Ateca on Tuesday. The dealer didn’t have a demonstrator but had a Formentor which I drove as it’s effectively the same car in a different dress. The launch control is mental! I chose the Ateca over the Formentor because I live in the countryside so the higher ride height is more suitable. Great offer from the dealer, with plenty of added extras it came out at £37,400 at today’s exchange rate (I live in Mallorca). Included in that price - extended 5 year warranty, 5 years free servicing and first year’s fully comp insurance!
Great review. Interesting to me as I had a pre facelift Macan (before they ruined the rear end!!) and sold it for an Audi S3. The Porsche sports seats were awesome, the steering and steering wheel were a delight and the pdk box is smoother than the audi's dual clutch effort. The 80% rear wheel drive bias also makes the car feel more pushed out of roundabouts.
However...the Audi S3 is a LOT more fun and can feel like a sports car..the Porsche always felt big and heavy. The Audi can slip into comfort mode and rival the Porsche on a m'way schlep. Then flip the drive mode into dynamic and you can't help but grin. The google mapped virtual cockpit on my S3 is also miles ahead of the old Porsche system plus I love not having to constantly clean a touch screen!!👍🏻

I really like both cars and was looking forward to the two been compared. Green does not do the Macan justice but the Macan is a thoroughbred

Great video, but why is the saturation so faded?
It's not just the base price of the Porsche that's so much more expensive, you also have to remember the cost of all the options you will need/want to add, none of which are cheap.... What I like about the Ateca is the fact there are hardly any options at all, nearly everything is standard.
Cupra better looking more agile better mpg and far better value for money cheaper to run and more exclusive.
For all os us who arent shitting money, the cupra ateca is the way to go by far!

That was not the voice I was expecting to come out of the Macan drivers mouth.
I owned an Ateca and the virtual cockpit is not better than the Audi version, which gets high-res Google earth mapping. Plus there is now the next generation version coming onto the market shortly.

Unfair comparison. If money is no object then you take the Porsche over the Cupra, but then if money is really no object then youd take the Bentley SUV over the Porsche.

That Cupra looks like a Mitsubishi. It isn’t attractive at all. The Macan is one of the best luxury SUV’s, looks and performance.

Stick whatever badge you like on it - it's a SEAT with a bodykit, that looks identical to every other SUV out there too. At least the Macan avoids the 'indentikit' SUV styling by looking distinctive, and - dare I say it - classy. On pain of death, I would never buy a bloody SUV of any kind anyway, but if the trigger was literally about to be pulled, then it would have to be the Macan over that SEATKIAHYUNDAIQASQAIKADJAR every time.

I would NOT buy a SEAT of any kind, I'm on my 3rd new SEAT in 6 years and I recently had an issue with my Ibiza Cupra where the drivers seat was rocking on it's internal mechanism. The car is just over 2 years old with 24,000 miles and SEAT do not want to know and will not repair it under warranty and say it's 'normal' yet all the showroom cars seats and the passenger seat are solid and don't rock. Never again will I buy a SEAT, the service is ZERO.

I would NEVER buy that Cupra over the Macan! The engineering is way superior in the Porsche. Let’s face it, the Cupra looks cheap and feels cheap!
