- In this episode I prepare my mothers lawn tractor for winter storage. We need to do an oil change on the tractor before putting it away. It takes 10w30 Engine oil and I need to stop and pick up some oil at our local store.

Thanks for the walkthrough. I was given an LT1045. The strange oil drain valve was confusing me. Thanks for taking a little more time spent there.
Very welcome!
Thanks! Just what I needed before doing my first oil change!!
Glad it helped!
Thank you for every informative and easy to understand video.
Your comment made my day! Thank you..
Great video. Your filming and editing are amazing.
What a good son you are
Great video. You make it look so easy.
Thank you, this video is a big help!
Great to hear!!
Great video, thank you!!
Thank you!
Have you done any other maintenance on this mower, just got a used one and this vid is very helpful!
Not yet!
What kind of oil filter did you use? I’m looking at other videos and some are using fram filters and some are using kohler brand.
I used conventional PENZOIL 10w30 for the oil and I used a DELCO PF2210 for the oil filter. I only ever use Delco or Wix filters personally. Thanks for watching!
I am doing this for the first time and watched your video and another video which said I should disconnect the spark plug ignition wires before starting the oil change. Is it safe to do it without disconnecting them?
I honestly have no idea why someone would need to disconnect the spark plug wire. I can say with 100 percent certainty that’s it’s safe to change your oil without disconnecting it. Thanks for watching!
@@NorthernHomeGarage Good news- thanks for the quick response!
Do you remember how many hours are on that kohler? I've got a 2013 ltx1040 with that same motor and it and I'm gettin it ready for spring. Mine has almost 300 hours on it and runs ok. Alot of these little kohlers have gotten a bad reputation for not lasting.
I seem to remember it’s just over 200. In the 10 years they have owned it, the engine has been rock solid. I hope I didn’t just jinx it! Thanks for watching.
@@NorthernHomeGarage lol, thanks. The two biggest complaints were the valve cover leaking and being hard to fix,and the bolts under the engine's flywheel working loose and the flywheel would catch the head of the bolt cracking the block. Mine has been ok so far,but I check those things fairly regularly.
@@ciphercode2298 good to know about those bolts. Thanks for the info!
Do not need to see drive or store
I can't dispute that. I'll speak with my editor :)
