    I'd still change it. While it might be fine for another 3k miles in decent conditions, it only takes a few hundred bad or very bad conditions to make it a lot worse. This plus the pleats get brittle and I've had a case where it started falling apart taking it out

      I have touched everything on my machine. Drive shafts, u joints, primary and secondary clutches, engine mounts, exhaust system differential front and rear. I have come to the conclusion that it’s simply driveline lash. Every component has a tolerance that just makes the clunk. Even when I rock mine forward and back while in park you can hear the clicks and clunks. I have been able to quiet the clunks a bit with greasing the drive shat yokes but it’s always going to clunk. It’s the nature of those machines. :(. I just learned to accelerate slowly to avoid it. Check some of my other videos. They might help a bit.

    Hello can you help, My largest of 3 reindeer the fine lead snapped on the wheels of the bin normally they just slide over it. I went to the place I purchased them and they recommended their extension lead with the same 2 pin points that click in, in principal it worked I clicked in the new lead which was clear not brown but the lights are only 20% brightness. they said check plug and buy the same voltage so it was 24v. If I bought the 48v would that be better or dangerous. I dont have your tools to check the power. You can buy leads from amazon with all different vaults I think. It now works but is so dull any ideas if you dont mind? Thank you

    • @NorthernHomeGarage
      @NorthernHomeGarage 21 วันที่ผ่านมา

      First of all, great job not giving up on it :). My thoughts are if the original is a 24V I don’t think doubling the voltage to 48v would be good for the decoration. It sounds like maybe the AMP are not sufficient to power them all properly. I would stay with a 24v but make sure the amperage of the new power supply is the same as the old one. If they are the same, something in the decoration is pulling down the volts. Could be a bad bulb. I hope this helps a bit. Good luck!!

    Hi from West Coast, I own 2023 Chevy Silverado 3500 HD High Country, and the truck doesn't have Parking Light. basically there is no difference when the switch is in Headlights position (all the way to right CW) or Parking Lights position (one position ahead of Headlights to the left-top). When in parking Lights position the headlights stays ON!!!!! Does you truck do the same? I was told at dealers that it is normal on some Canadians models, which is crazy, because I need parking Lights.

    • @johnkow8884
      @johnkow8884 26 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@NorthernHomeGarage I don't fully understand your question. Basically in my truck the headlights WILL NOT turn off when I turn lights switch to Parking Lights position. Doesn't matter if engine is running, if it is day or night, if truck is unlocked or locked. All lights around the whole truck are on like during driving at night. There is many situations in my life where I need to have my truck (and 5th wheel RV trailer) illuminated without blinding people around with my headlights. I talked to three dealers in BC - no help, I asked USA dealer to reprogram my truck to make it American Truck Great Again (because on American 2023 Chevy 3500HD everything works normal - checked with Americans in California at RV parks) they told me can't do reprograming because it is "Canadian truck", but built in USA :). I like (even enjoy?) using hand-tools, especially on old stuff. Get a good feel for state of threads on the fastener coming off, can stop before breaking/stripping bolts, and re-consider my approach. On really stuck stuff I find heating the fastener with a torch, and then touching it with a wax candle works really well: the hot wax creeps into the threads by capillary action and acts as a lubricant. In addition to a click type, have an old school torque wrench that has no moving parts, just a thin pointer. Always works! Have two Mastercraft 3/8 ratchets, one is slightly mis-dimensioned internally, and locks up quite a lot, must be taken apart to reset. Thanks for content.

    I have found that it is MUCH easier to keep your Ultrasonic Cleaner cleaner if you seal your parts and solvent or cleaners in a small jar (preferably glass, as it transmits the vibrations better, but is also more apt to break if you drop it), and fill the machine with WATER around them. You can also put the parts and solvent in a Zip-lock bag, then DOUBLE-BAG it to ENSURE it stays sealed, then drop it into the water. This method doesn't work if the solvent will dissolve plastic, though...... My take-away is that the Varsol will remove OIL, and some dirt, but has NO effect on rust. Dish soap and Baking soda - will also attack Oil and dirt, and the Baking soda may help with the rust. CLR is an ACID, and will primarily attack the Rust, but may work on the oil, too. I'm thinking that CLR and Dish soap ALONE might work best, since the Baking Soda and CLR may cancel each other out to some extent.

    That landing on M lake looks a lot nicer on a hot summer day. Been trying to figure out how to get a canoe in there.

    I have the same generator. It has spark, but it will not start, not even on brake cleaner. Throttle is full open. Where should I look? Is it possible that the intake membranes stay closed and is there a way to check it?

      Before any of that I would check you have the correct spark plug and that you have decent compression.

    how loud is your unit? Mine is 105 DB at 30cm and 95db at 50cm which makes me want to return it lol

      My unit is very loud. Even louder if I don’t have the top on. That’s why I start it and walk away lol. Im lucky I have a garage to run it in.

      @@NorthernHomeGarage i'm in a 550sqft one bedroom (really lucky to not have roomates) but sadly nothing like that, luckily I can put it in the bathroom :) I do have a den but there's barely any space in there. maybe I can figure out how to organize my stuff... even the bathroom isn't enough tho. I might buy 3m hearing protection for this lol

    So here's a question: I cleaned the carb (2 jet pinholes, blew out the emulsifier tube as it cannot be removed). With a drained carb it starts on brake cleaner, but when I open the fuel valve it will not start, not even on brake cleaner. When I bought it a couple of weeks ago the seller dit demonstrate the generator and it was running. Where should I look?

      It sounds like you're on the right track with cleaning the carb. Sometimes the simplest things can trip us up! As you might already know, internal combustion engines need 3 things. Fuel, compression (to compress the fuel/air mixture) and a source of ignition, spark. These are my three go 2’s for problem solving. The way you’re explaining it, the first thing I would go to is the carb needle and seat. One of two things I think is happening here. It’s stuck closed, not allowing fuel into the bowl, it’s stuck open flooding the cylinder. If that all seems ok, I would go to compression. I have seen things run on brake cleaner and starter fluid but not run on gas because that mixture needs to be compressed. Good luck!

    You didn't waste money on replacing that sensor. I've had 2010 and 2016 Acadias, both needing multiple new OEM wheel hubs and sensors. The GM tone rings simple don't wear well; the bearings last longer than the tone rings. But once that ring is worn, the whole hub assembly must be replaced. After my 3rd replacement, decided it was wise to replace the sensor whenever a hub was replaced. Logic being the hub (and sensor) had 75K miles and the labor effort required for the hub removal (rusty Midwest conditions) warrants having a new sensor, which is only a $30 OEM part. PLUS, the used sensor end can be fragile and likely to be difficult to remove due to dirt and rust. It's not a waste of money to ensure that whole wheel assembly has new parts for the next 75K miles. It's a wise preventative maintenance decision, IMHO. Here is the best video showing hardware and steps for removing rusted hubs: th-cam.com/video/7Yk2p5_CxqE/w-d-xo.html I purchased this exact hardware and it works!! Thanks for your real life video, it's valuable for the DIY
